Y/N POV:
I think this is my third time visiting the Madrigals. This time only my dads side of the family joined. I couldn't wait to meet Camilo again, especially since we started dating in secret last year when we visited. No one else but us and his sister and Mirabel knew but it was hard for Dolores to keep quiet about it. We are quickly accepted into the household by casita, who basically throws us inside.
-Thank you casita! I wave and the door waves back.
-Y/N! I hear a shout and Camilo comes running towards me. I hug him and he squeezes me.
-Does anyone else know? I whisper.
-Nope, Camilo answers.
-great, I say before I pull away. His feeling of love for me projects off of him and I am filled with the same feeling. Suddenly a burst of happiness overwhelms the space as the madrigal family jumps me and my family with hugs and kisses on the cheek. I believe that my little sister has a crush on Antonio as she feels embarrassed when mom and dad has to push her towards him.
-Living in my room, as usual? Camilo asks.
-Of course, my good sir, I mock and he turns to Luisa as he takes my luggage and starts walking up the stairs.
-O, oh, Y/N wait a moment! Isabela stops us in the middle of the stairs. Her dress was a lovely forest green today and she carefully puts a flower in my hair.
-Oh thank you Isabela, I say and Isabela smiles as she hurries down the stairs to greet the rest.
Camilo puts down my luggage in his room and turns back to himself. I sit down on his bed and pat the covers. Camilo takes the flower out of my hair.
-hey! I say. Camilo turns into Isabela.
-Oh here you go, a beautiful flower for a beautiful girl, he mocks a very light voice to sound like Isabela, but failing. I roll my eyes.
-Stop it, I laugh. He turns back into himself again and gives me the flower back. I sigh and fall down onto the plush mattress. Camilo follows my lead and I am quickly cuddled into his side.
-It's nice to have you back mi niña bonita, he says and I smile. He smiles and leans down and we share a small kiss. I missed the feeling of our kisses. They were so sweet and loving, and I had longed a year for them. As I pull away I smile even bigger.
And though I can see him smile too, I don't feel happiness from him. No, I feel some sort of... guilt. I look into his mind to see what's going on. In his mind I see him alone and afraid, people turning their back on him, but all dancing and laughing as he turns form.

-Would she be with me if I didn't have my gift? He thinks. I furrow my brows.
-Why would you think that? I ask. He frowns.
-I asked you to stop doing that, he sighs and sits back up.
-I'm sorry but I could feel that you were sad and I wanted to know why... I should've asked, I apologize. He only gives me a nod.
-Why would you think something like that? I ask and put a hand on his arm. He shrugs.
-I don't know. Everyone seems to like me better as I change. I didn't know if you were like that or not, he says sadly and a stronger guilt washes over me.
-No, no Camilo, that's not who I am, I say.
-I love you, my love, and no one else, I reassure and the guilt eases up and is replaced by calmness. He smiles at me and I smile back.
Suddenly there is a knock at the door.
-Come in! Camilo says. In comes my parents.
-Hello guys! Y/N there's a visitor for you here, mom says.
-A visitor? For me? I say confused and a mix of confusion and excitement (from my parents) fill my mind.
-I am what!? I ask furiously.
-Y/N don't take this the wrong way. You like it here and we know you'd want to stay so we set up an arrangement for a nice boy in town, dad says.
-B-but I, I had no say! I explain.
-No we just thought it would make it easier, mom says as dad looks out the door and looking so that the boys downstairs didn't hear. I was basically fuming at this point.
-I don't want a suitor, I say.
-C'mon honey. We want grandchildren and we want to see you settle down. This man is very nice and is staying for dinner. It's your time to get to know him, start a conversation! Dad says. A part of me is anted to blur out my secret about Camilo and I. But I couldn't. It wasn't fair. I just sigh and pretend to like the conversation.
-Ok sure, I say.
-Great, mom claps her hands as they lead me out into the courtyard. Camilo meets me in the stairs.
-What's going on? Camilo thinks and looks at me with a concerned face.
-Mom and dad are betrothing me to that guy, I share a thought and nod subtly to the guy talking to Camilos parents. We walk down the stairs behind my parents.
-they're what now? He screams in his head and I hold my ears.
-sorry, he then apologizes.
-It's ok. I'll just be nice over the dinner and then I'll tell my parents I am not interested, I explain.

-Just hope it'll work, Camilo thinks as we get to the bottom of the stairs.
-Oh it'll work, I nod at him before my parents introduce me to this new man, a new man called Pedro.
A month later:
This is the 12th time that Pedro has had dinner with us. And we always talked about the same things. No matter how many times I had told my parents that we didn't click, they continued setting up dinners with him and placing us in front of each other.
It had gotten so boring that I actually started having mental conversations with people at the table instead. Mostly Madrigals, since they were bored to death by hearing the same joke for the 10th time. Tonight I wanted to talk to Camilo but he sat two people down on the opposite side of the table.
-This guy is sooooo boring, I complain and I see Camilo grin.
-Tell me about it, he thinks and looks at me.
-Isn't this his fifth time telling us of his abuela story? He asks and I snicker loudly right in the middle of Pedro's story and everyone stops.
-Sorry, I just thought... never mind, go on, I apologize and I Camilo is laughing his ass off in his mind, covering his mouth with his hand.
-Oh haha, very funny, I send sarcastically. Suddenly another thought gets loud in the hustle and bustle of thoughts.
-Why can't this dinner be done? I've run out of stories and this girl isn't even that pretty for this to be worth it. Why do I keep accepting the invitations? It's Pedro's thought.
-Oh boy, you're gonna flip, I send Camilo.
-What why? He questions.
-He told me I'm not worth this, I say with slight humor in my voice.
-What!? Camilo bursts out over the table, making everyone look at him. He turns to two, three different people before he stands up.
-I- excuse me for a moment, he says and walks away from the table. A feeling of angers hits me and everyone looks to me. Mirabel sends me a knowing look and Dolores mentions with her eyes for me to follow him.
-c'mon go, before he locks his door, Dolores thinks.
-I think that's my fault, I'll go check on him, I say and rise up and walk away before Peppa, Camilos mother, even had the chance to stand up. I rush after Camilo to the courtyard and up the stairs. Before he can get to his room I stop him and grab his arm.
-hey, I say.
-Are you ok? I ask.
-Yes I'm fine, Camilo comments with a sour tone.
-No you're not, c'mon, I encourage, trying to avoid the feeling of anger he's putting onto me.
-Why can't I be the one you marry? Huh? Why does it have to be that guy that's so egoistic that he doesn't think you're worth talking to over dinner? Camilo exclaims.
-Oh baby... I sigh.
-You know why, I say and brush his cheeks with my fingers.
-Yes I know, I know, he pouts.
-Hey Y/N, come and say goodbye to our guest! Mom yells after me.
-I'll be right back, I tell Camilo and run downstairs.
As Pedro leaves I get pulled to the side by my parents.
-So we have a date, dad says.
-a date? I ask.
-Yes, a wedding date, mom says.
-I'm sorry what? I ask.
-you're getting married three years from today, mom says excitedly.
-But mom I- I try to stop her.
-And because of that, we have also set a proposal date for you, dad says.
-Dad no- I try again.
-And because you're getting married, we all agreed that you should stay here until the wedding and you shouldn't be sleeping in Camilos room anymore, dad says. I turn speechless. Then anger starts to boil inside of me. Things around us start to float. They lift off of the ground and some start moving around the room.
-Y/N stop that right now, my mom orders.
-It's not fair! I say.
-Young lady you put down these vases and table right now! Mom orders again. I stop them from levitating and everything falls onto the floor with a heavy bang.
-You apologize to mrs Madrigal right now! Dad says and point to the elderly woman. I look around. Everyone looked at me with fear and in my mind I could hear them all mumbling. From the balcony I can see Camilo look sadly down at me. I look back at my parents and glare at them before I start to mutter swearwords and quickly rush up to Camilos room and lock myself in. On the way I passed Camilo who shouted after me but everyone's thoughts could be heard in my mind and I couldn't stop them, it was out of my control.

November 2021 Update: So, it has been four years since I stopped working on this. Reading back, the first "book" is finished. It has what feels like an ending to an arc. Now it isn't a perfect story but I still like it and I can see myself starting the second book, might even this on Amazon or something. My biggest regret was never coming up with artwork for the cover though. Maybe I'll look into it.
