Ravenclaw POV:

I'm on the train for my first year at Hogwarts. I pick up a book from my hand bag and start it, hoping to be halfway finished by the time we get to the station. I knew that I was going, both my parents went there when they were younger. They've educated me so much so that I can almost sort myself into a house. I mean I am the stereotype of a Ravenclaw; I like books, reading, studying and I don't hang out with large groups of friends at the same time. Suddenly I hear a knock on the door of the booth and I look up. There stands a person with really nice hair and a big smile.

-Excuse me, did I disturb you? They ask. I shake my head.

-No you're alright, I try to smile back but it'd never match theirs.

-Good. I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind me sitting in here with you? I'm kinda new to this whole running into the wall thing, they say.

-Oh no problem, please come in, I say. They nod at me and put their trunk over head and sits down on the seat in front of me, looking at the hundreds of parents outside.

-Let me guess, muggleborn? I ask. They don't look at me, just smile.

-You'd think that. I'm a half-blood actually, they say and wave goodbye to her parents as the train takes off.

-Half-blood? Wow, I say.

-Yeah. Mum's a witch and dad's a muggle. I knew my mom did magic but they wanted to keep Hogwarts a secret since they didn't know if that's where I'd end up, they say as trees start to show up.

-Wow, that's tough, I comment. They shrug.

-It's whatever. I bet there's muggleborns more terrified of it actually, they say.

-I basically already know Hogwarts inside and out, I say and pick my book back up.

-Oh that must be amazing, already knowing it all, they say. I sigh and put my book to the side.

-Ravenclaw, nice to meet you, I say and they smile.

-Hufflepuff, glad to be here, they say and I smile.

Later:

We walk towards the sorting hat and people around us are singing the song of Hogwarts. I see how Hufflepuff is nervously shuffling their feet as we stand and wait for our names will be called.

-Hey, you'll do fine. I can tell that no matter where you end up you'll be fine, I tell them. The smile nervously at me.

-I know... but I'm still nervous, you're the first friend I've made and I don't wanna loose contact with you, they say, which shocks me.

-You won't, I promise you, I say and comfort them.

-Thanks, they say before their name gets yelled out over the hall.

2nd year:

I smile over the hall at Hufflepuff as they make funny faces at me. It's the second year of Hogwarts and Hufflepuff knows that my parents were fighting really badly over the summer a couple of times so they try to cheer me up with jokes and faces, which I really appreciate. I laugh as they drop a spoon into their morning porridge, which makes it splash up in their face. I let out a loud laugh. The people around me from Ravenclaw look weirdly at me since I've been quiet for the last couple of days. I try to muffle the laugh with my hands as Huff grins at me as they wipe off the porridge off of their face.

-What's your problem? I can hear another Hufflepuff hiss at them, making them frown ashamed. I furrow my eyebrows and write "leave them alone!" On a paper, and I throw it on the other Hufflepuff. They get it in their own porridge and read it and looks absolutely shocked before looking at me. I make a sign with my hands as I mouth "I'm watching you".

Huff smiles gratefully and goes back to what's left of their porridge.

After breakfast, Hufflepuff catches up to me.

-Hope you liked the show, I got porridge under my shirt now, they say. I giggle and they smile.

-Well it was quite stupid of you to play with your spoon, I comment.

-Worth it, Huff chuckles. We walk through the halls in silence for a little while.

-Hey... thanks for before with that guy. He's been in a sour mood lately, Huff says.

-It was no trouble, just making sure that you know I got your back... just like you got mine, I shrug.

-Well thanks anyways. I'll catch you in potions later, yeah? Huff asks and starts heading faster towards their morning class.

-Yup, I confirm. Huff salutes me and runs along the halls to their next class. I shake my head and roll my eyes but giggle amused.

Later that day, in potions:

I make a face at Huff as we pass each other in the classroom. We got sorted into different work groups and I heard that Huff got sorted with some of the most snobby Ravenclaws in our years. Y'know the kind; full blooded ravenclaws that should've been Slytherin but ended up in Ravenclaw. So they assorted Huff to get the ingredients. Like they usually do with the Hufflepuffs. But Huff seemed fine, they mostly kept to themselves as the Ravenclaws talked about portion sizes and such. But one thing stood out to me as I worked with my group.

-Actually, the tree bark is supposed to be 'sprinkled' in, it says right here that- Huff immediately gets cut off by a thud on the table. My group reacts and looks up from our various tasks.

-Nobody asked you, Hufflepuff, one of the ravenclaws says.

-Yeah, what do you know anyway? The other says. I see Huff get completely distraught.

-But the recipe calls for-

-We told you, you don't know what you're talking about! Now let us do the work and just let everything be, the first Ravenclaw says again.

-Oh, ok, Huff whispers and sulks on their chair.

I purse my lips, but continue my work, to not loose any points during class.

Later at dinner:

-Hey Huff, you ok? I ask, as I catch up to them after potions. Huff left in a hurry and didn't even wait for me, so after a while of searching I found them outside of the great hall.

-Hmmm? Oh yeah I'm fine. You? I saw that you were in my friends group. I've heard they're pretty smart, Huff says with a light voice but no spirit, like usual.

-Yeah they were nice, I say, but Huff doesn't look any happier, even though they're smiling.

-Hey, tell you what; if you help me understand my divination homework later, you can have my chocolate pudding, I whisper as we get into the chatty hall. They immediately perk up.

-Really? Y-you need my help with divination? they ask. I nod.

-You're the best in our year, nobody can do it like you can, I say.

-Alright... save that chocolate pudding for later than because we're having a study date! Huff says before sitting down at their table.

-Alright, see ya in the library after dinner, I say.

-The usual place? Huff asks.

-You betcha, I say and go to join my friends over at the Ravenclaw table.

4th year, Huff POV:

It's Christmas in my fourth year here. My parents wanted to visit my moms cousins in America, so they sent me my presents to the Hufflepuff common room. Raven stayed too. Their parents made up, but Raven wanted to spend Christmas with me, which is really sweet of them. So for this special occasion, I baked them some of my special Christmas cookies. I made them every year but strangely enough I've never had Raven try them. I know that they've been up since like 7 this morning, so I sent them a quick letter to come to the Hufflepuff common room entrance at 10. And it's now 9:59, which means that they're already here. Raven thinks being on time is late and being early is on time. So I quickly open the gate and sure enough, there they are.

-Hi Raven! I say happily. I see that they're holding a bag full of stuff.

-Ooooo what have you got with you? I ask curiously.

-I got you some things and... I kinda didn't want to open my stuff alone in my common room, they explain. I look wondering at them.

-Everyone else is asleep, they explain sheepishly.

-It's ok, come on in, we got plenty of gingerbread cookies to share! I say as I close the gate behind them.

They put down their bag of presents and immediately gets served a cookie by the 7th years.

-Oh wow, thanks guys, Raven says.

-Now stay right here, I got something for you too, I say and rush up to my dorm room to get the cookie tin.

As I get back down, I see Ravenclaw sitting with their presents in front of them and all of mine beside them.

-Just trying to stay organized, they shrug and I laugh and sit down next to them.

-You first, they say and hand me a soft package. I put the tin down and eagerly open the package.

-Awe, a kitty hoodie? Thank you! I squeal and hold it to my chest. Raven laughs and I fold the hoodie together.

-Ok, now your turn, I say and hand them the tin. They look wondering at me, but open the tin anyways.

-I- cookies? They ask confused.

-Just try them, I insist.

-But I just had one? They ask.

-No this is my Christmas special, from me to you, I say. They take one and hesitantly eat it... and then their eyes widen.

-Omg, HUFF!? You didn't tell me you could bake! Raven says and savors the flavor. I giggle and start laughing.

-Wow, this is absolutely amazing! They say and immediately shove another cookie into their mouth, making me laugh even harder.

This is definitely a Christmas worth remembering.

6th year, Raven POV:

I sit in my dorm reading my favorite book to pause from my excessive studying these past few hours. Suddenly I hear frantic knocking on the entrance of the common room, but guessing that someone will take care of it I go back to my book. But the someone softly knocks on my dorm room. I throw my book into my lap.

-What!? I ask annoyed.

-I think your hufflepuff friend needs you, my classmate says. I sigh and put away my book and jog downstairs to meet Huff....

Only to find them in complete disaster.

-Raven, please, I need your help, Huff begs.

-Yeah sure, whaddya need? I ask calmly and sit them down on a sofa with a study table. They frantically pull up some books and parchments from their bag onto the table.

-I need help with the potions assignment, they pant out in panic.

-Wh- weren't you done with this two days ago? I ask sincerely confused. They start chanting no and grabbing their hair and shaking their head back and forth.

-No you just don't get it! They shout, turning some heads, but everyone has learned to not get in anyone's business. Huffs eyes overspill with tears and they start sobbing and hulking right in front of me.

-I'm stupid! I'm dumb, I can't do this! I don't understand it, so something has to be wrong with it, they insist.

-Huff I'm sure you'll get a good grade for it, I try to calm.

-No, I can't afford another C, ok? I need an A, They say absolutely panicked.

-What do you need an A for? I ask confused.

-Because I don't want the teacher to believe that I'm absolutely stupid! They say.

-Can you please help me? Please? They sob and shake. They've never been vulnerable and panicked in front of me. Most importantly, they've never cared for high grades like this before. They snatch a neatly written parchment form the chaos of the books and shake it in front of my face.

-please, they desperately beg me. Then it clicks. All those stereotypes, all of those words and comments has finally gone to their head.

-Oh hufflepuff... I shakily say as tears begin surfacing in my eyes from all the hurt that they are showing. Their hair is standing in every direction, dark circles under their eyes... they look like a complete mess.

I quickly pull them in for a tight hug. They quickly let go of the parchment and squeeze me back. They shake and hiccup as they sob and cry into my shoulder. They almost scream through their sobs as they hug me and I hold them tightly.

-It's ok Huff, it's ok, I'm here, I'll help you, I whisper. They can only nod as they continue to cry their eyes out.

Later:

I see Huff drinking from the never ending cup of water as I sit down, having proof read the text about a dozen times at this point. Just for them to feel safe.

-I can tell you Huff, there is nothing, not a single flaw in this text that I can spot from a mile away.

-Really? You sure? Did you double check? That ask anxiously. I nod and hand them the year stained paper.

-I am 1000% sure, I say and put a hand on their shoulder. They take a shaky breath as their adrenaline shakes off.

-What would I ever do without you? They ask. I smile.

-I'm sure you'd be just fine, I say.

-But I wouldn't. Who would read my potions homework over a dozen times for me at 11 on a Wednesday night? A school night, more specifically, Huff says.

-Well I.... I don't know, I say. I've never felt so needed and seen before. Sure I was always needed in the quiet moments in the classroom. Helping the first years with their transfiguration homework. But not ever has anyone revealed their gratitude for me like this.

I smile at Huff, who grins slightly back.

-Thank you... like I'm serious... thank you, Huff says. I just hug them.

7th year, at graduation:

Me and Huff stands proudly next to each other in the great hall as our parents and friends are cheering us on for the hat toss.

-You know... I really like you, Huff says into my ear. I look at them.

-What? I ask. They look at me.

-I really like you. Couldn't have gone a moment without you here, right by my side, they say.

-I- alright students, prepare your hats! Headmaster McGonagall says loudly and everyone puts a hand on their hats.

-I like you too, I confess. Huff smiles.

-We'll cheer for that, they say and we toss our hats.

For seven great years at Hogwarts. For seven great years together.
