Y/N POV:
Barb has been my best friend since we were small. Right now I'm sitting in her ship, watching her brag about having 2 of the 6 strings. I sigh. I just wanna be at home right now, listening to my music. Barb stops bragging and just sits down at her throne. I sit on the floor beside her and hang my head on the arm rest. She looks down at me and smiles.
-What? She asks. I sigh and shrug.
-What's wrong? We got two strings, only 4 left now! Aren't you excited to tule the world? She asks. I sigh. No matter how much I told her, she wouldn't listen to what I said so I just went with it.
-I don't know, I'm tired I guess, I say.
-Tired? Of what, rocking out? She laughs. I smile.
-No. but carrying the burden of your happiness on my shoulders is kinda hard, I say and dramatically massage my neck. She scoffs and laughs and hits my shoulder.
-You know what I mean. You wouldn't go by yourself even if you wanted, I say and stand up, leaning on the arm rest instead.
-That's true. But that's because you're my best friend, she says and shrugs and I see her turn red from embarrassment by saying it. I smile.
-Awww shucks, I say dramatically and she scoffs again.
-You know what I mean, she says and I giggle and sit on the couch. She smiles and rolls her eyes as she looks at the big new guitar with two single strings. My smile falters and I look outside the window.
Later Barb POV:
I see Y/N looking down so I grab my guitar and sit next to her. She looks at me and a small smile captures her lips. A tingle in my stomach makes me smile back at her.
-I have a song for you-ehm, for you to listen to, that I've been working on, I cover up. I look down at my guitar to hide the blush that creeps up my neck.
-Ooo! A new song? Let's hear it, Y/N says and sits to face me. I laugh lightly as I strum the chords.
-In my life, there's been heartache and pain
I don't know if I can face it again
Can't stop now, I've traveled so far
To change this lonely life
I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me (Ooh), I sing slowly and she looks absolutely mesmerized.
-I haven't really worked too much on it, but it's the bridge and, uh, verse, I say.
-It was so good! Play it again! Y/N says.
-No I- pleeeaaaase, she asks. I chuckle.
-Alright then, I say and play it again, changing the tempo this time.
Later Y/N POV:
I follow Barb as the others caught Poppy, who Barb asked to be captured.
-Well I thought I heard some yodeling, she taunts. I stand behind her sighing as I follow her. She walks around and taunts her, calling her names. She gets the string from Hickory and hides it in her bracelet, she lets the others take Poppy into the cage. Barb chuckles to herself before she follows. I grab her arm. She turns to me.
-Hey! We did it, we got the final string! She says happily and laughs. I try to smile and nod.
-Yeah, I say and look down on the ground.
-Hey, what's wrong, it's time to celebrate! She says confused.
-Barb, I sigh. She calms down and furrows her brows.

-I'm so happy that you reached a big goal in your life... I'm so, so happy, I say and grab her hand in mine.
-But...? She asks.
-But I think this is wrong, I say.
-W-what, she almost laughs out. I just look at her.
-You know exactly what I mean, I say. Her smile falters and she rips her hand out of my grasp.
-No... no, she says.
-You're supposed to be my best friend! She says.
-I am! I say.
-You're supposed to support me! Barb points a finger at me.
-I do! I say.
-Then why are you doing this? She asks, her eyes becoming glossy.
-Because I am your best friend, and I do support and because I care! I say. She looks shocked at me.
-I told you even before you started doing this if you really thought that this was a good idea. I asked you multiple times during planning, I say.
-But you didn't listen, you said it would be fine! But I don't think that this is fine at all! I say.
-You kidnap and destroy and everything you leave, you leave burning, I say.
-Well I did it for us! For rock to rule! She says.
-Well you could've done it a better way, I say.
-I don't want to be a part of this anymore, I say.
-I- what? She asks.
-I don't want to go back there with you, I say.
-But I... she says, before she snarls.
-Fine... I'll leave you, she says.
-Good, I say.
-And don't ever come back, she says. I get taken aback.
-Alright... if that's your wish, your highness, I say passive aggressively. She glares at me and turns to the ship and they lift off. I look after the ship and turn away sadly to walk as far away from rock land as I could.
Barb's POV:
I watch out the back of the ship as Y/N walks the other way. Tears are burning behind my eyes, but I also felt like screaming.
-Barb...? An old voice says and I turn around and see dad.
-Hey dad, I say and force a smile.
-I know you miss her, he says.
-What- no she was a distraction and an enemy, she was about to destroy the whole plan, I say and turn away from the window. Dad shakes his head and wheels away. I frown and look back outside as Y/N just leaves, head held high.
Later, still Barb POV:
I tell Poppy my plan.
-You know, we're not so different you and I, I say.
-Oh really? She asks. I look out the window at all my rock fans.
-Yeah. We're both queens. We have high pressures from our people and... friends, I say and frown as I think of Y/N. Then I fake a confident smile as I walk back to Poppy.
-But the show must go on! And with the last string, I smile as the guitar gets brought to me.
-I will rule the world with rock! I say as the string places itself into the guitar. I laugh as I grab it from its bag and take it.
-What're you gonna do? Poppy asks. I turn to her.
-You'll see, I say as the floor sinks down and I get a quick change on stage.
Y/N POV:
I hear the loudest guitar sound I've ever heard that just blew in the wind. Then it turned quiet... it scared me. I turn towards the rock land and... I could only see the light of fire.
-Barb what did you do? I whisper to myself and run back.

A while later:
I get into the crowd over everyone and towards backstage. Suddenly I hear something break and a sinking feeling fill my body and I turn grey.
-Oh no... I say. I run out on stage and Poppy just smashed the guitar. Barb run to it and grabs the strings that disintegrate into her hands.
-Do you realize what you've done!? She yells at Poppy, who takes cover by that other troll.
-You've destroyed music! All music! For everyone! Barb screams at her. I gasp. I look between them.
Suddenly a beat starts lighting up the speakers, someone starts making a beat to it. I walk further out on stage. I look out to two unfamiliar trails, the queen of funk reacting.
-Those are my sons... making music. Then clapping and stomping can be heard from next to me. The queen of country starts dancing, her heartbeat also glowing. Everyone's hearts starts flowing and the crowd joins in on the stomping.
-We don't need the strings anymore... sure, that's where music started but... now the music comes from inside of us... because that's where music really comes from, the queen of funk says. And all of it dawns on me.
I walk further onto the stage as everyone's heartbeat glows and sings. I see the kings and queens of the music eyeing me as I walk. The queen of funk nods to me.
-Let me... hear you sing... I start singing carefully. Sun starts showing through the clouds and the crowds gasp.
-Sing it together, louder than ever..... forget everything, just sing, I sing, poppy and Branch joining in.
—Like it's what we've been missing, and they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything just sing, I turn back to my regular f/c skin and look back at Barb. She looks confused at me.
-Dad? She asks.
-It's alright Barbara, just let everyone be what they wanna be, including you, Barbs dad says and plays his synth. She looks back at me and I smile.
-You think you've gotta hide it
Don't keep it on the shelf, I sing and move towards Barb, dancing slightly.
-Let your waist start moving, watch the way I do it, do it
See me do it like nobody else, Poppy sings and hops around on stage.
-If we sing it all together (If we sing it all as one)
It's not a thing you sell (Once again, everyone)
Everybody's lookin' (See you lookin' now)
Watch the way we do it, do it (Hol' up, watchin' how I do it), the queen of Funk sings, backed up by her son and Branch.
-Cause we do it like nobody else! Poppy, the queen of Funk and country harmonize.
-Let me hear you sing, don't you stop it, don't you fight it
Let me hear you sing, if you got it, can't deny it
Let me hear you, it's waiting for you
Already, you know that you do it like nobody else
Just sing, sing it together, everyone says, the heart of the kings and queens glowing over the trolls.
-Louder than ever, ever, forget everything
Just sing like it's what we've been missing, we sing and I run upstage, Barb following me with her gaze. I see trolls exchanging places and dancing together making me laugh in glee.
-And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything (Let me hear you), I scream out the lyrics in happiness and jump around on my spot.
-Hey, I've been out here where you standin' (I've been standin' on the ground)
And the walls are cavin' in (All the walls are fallin')
But my lips start movin' with the soul I put into it
And you never heard it done like this, the queen of country sings with some help, of course.
-Let me hear you sing, don't you stop it, don't you fight it, the Kpop group sings.
-Let me hear you sing, if you got it, can't deny it, sings the reggaeton girls.
-Let me hear you, it's waiting for you
Already, you know that you do it like nobody else, I sing and grab Barbs hands, slightly pulling her further onto the stage. She smiles unsure at me and I let go of her hands, joining the kings and queens who enjoy my gleeful dancing.
-Just sing, sing it together
Louder than ever, ever, forget everything
Just sing like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything
Let me hear you sing, we all sing, instruments of all kind start playing.
-I said 1, 2, 3 and 4, let's go everybody let's get on the floor, a small glitter baby sings over our heads.
-Let me hear you (Mm, let me hear you sing, yeah)
Let me hear you sing
(I want you to sing from your soul, I want you to reach with your elbow)
Let me hear you (Alright)
Let me hear you sing, the funk princess add to the song.
-it's waiting for you, I look at Barb who's joined me upstage. Poppy hands me a guitar that I toss to Barb.
-Already, you know that you do it like nobody else, I nod to her and she starts playing her heart out on her guitar.
-Just sing, sing it together, she finally joins in, the power of the music turning her once small Mohawk to a huge rainbow one. She turns to me and I smile excitedly at her.
-Louder than ever, ever, forget everything
Just sing like it's what we've been missing, queen Poppy also transforms into a royal cape and a beautiful dress.
-And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything
Just sing, Poppy holds up Barbs hand and Barb smiles into the crowd. For once I see a big, beautiful, genuine smile on her lips, and I can't help but to hop onto her back from behind.
-sing it together (Listen)
Louder than ever, ever, forget everything
Just sing like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything, Barb turns around and hugs me, putting her guitar in her back. I hug back with double the strength she does.
-Just sing like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything
Just sing, Poppy ends the song and the crowds go wild.
Poppy then walks over to Barb.
-I know we had a bad start, but um, do you wanna be friends? Poppy asks and hold out a hand.
-Yes.. yes! Yes I wanna be friends! Barb immediately grabs poppy in a tight hug.
-You hear that Y/N? We can start a girl band! She says and I laugh.
-Yes, I say. Poppy then goes on to talk to the other kings and queens. Barb turns to me.
She smiles.
-I'm glad you came back, she says.
-Me too. Would've been sad to miss all this, I say.
-Yeah, she says and looks down onto the ground. I look at her outfit.
-You look good, I say, going for it.
-What? She says and looks back up and I kiss her cheek. It looks like her brain is processing the happening and she brings her hand up to her cheek and she smiles.
-What was that? She asks happily. I shrug and smile shyly, a blush creeping up on my face.
-I don't know, I just felt like it, I say.
-Well I liked it, she says, and I look at her.
-Really? I ask. She nods.
-Well I know that I'm gonna do that more, I say and then go in for a full on kiss. She stumbles before kissing back.
-Well, well, well, the queen of country says and looks towards us, the other kings and queens smiling and giggling. Barb turns to them and smiles. She drags me behind her towards them and I stand beside her feeling small all of a sudden, waving awkwardly at them.
The king and queen of funk snicker to themselves and Barb smiles proudly at me. That's when I see that she has 2 big kiss marks on her cheek and lips.
-Oh Barb, you... I say and motion to my own lips and cheek. She takes her white sleeves and wipe her face off, leaving red stains. She laughs to herself before we get into their conversation.

Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.
