Y/N POV:

I walk around the woods aimlessly, staring at some fairies that are leading the way. This day started out as a simple trip to the woods to pick some flowers and ended with some fairies advising me to stop. They turn to me and smile and wave me with them so that I'll keep following them. I wonder what they need me for.

Maleficent POV:

-I have told you that I am perfectly fine by myself, I say.

-Well you've been very lonely lately after Philip and I got married. I think you need some other company, Aurora persists as she tries to keep up with me. I scoff.

-Nonsense, I'm doing all fine by my own, I say. Aurora runs in front of me.

-Really? Then what was the puppeteer show with the old guards last week? Aurora asks. I smile.

-That was fun, I say and chuckle. Aurora tilts her head. I stop smiling.

-Besides, she is merely a human, I say and walk past her.

-Not entirely! Aurora yells after me and I stop. I turn to her.

-Her father was human, but her mother was some kind of faerie. She died at childbirth, Aurora says and I walk with quick strides towards her.

-How do you know of this? I ask, feeling my cheeks heating up.

-The castle files. The queens tried to keep it hidden but I found them, Aurora says and smiles. I growl and walk the other way again.

-I don't wish to meet her! I say as I storm away.

Y/N POV:

-I don't wish to meet her! I hear the man yell.

-Meet who? I ask curiously. The man stops in his tracks and looks at me with big eyes.

-Who are you? He asks. I do not answer, curious of his response. He marches towards me, fangs showing.

-Who are you? He asks threateningly.

-I don't know. Who am I to you? I ask. He looks taken aback from the question.

-How did you get here? He asks to recover. I point to the fairies over us.

-They led me here, I say. The man looks threateningly at the woman behind him. The woman just smiles at him. He looks back at me. He is very fair and is darkly clothed. He has wings that droop behind him and horns on top of his head. He is very handsome. His cheekbones are very formed and I can't help but stare at his fangs.

-I am afraid you cannot stay, he says.

-Oh. I understand, I say. He stands up with a straight back.

-May I just have a quick look around? The meadows around this forest are beautiful this time of year, I ask. I see that he is just about to protest, but someone interrupts.

-Of course. That will not be a problem. Right Maleficent? The woman asks. I recognize the name... and her.

-My queen! I flush up and bow.

-There's no need for that. I'm no more of a person then you are, she says kindly. I smile and nod my head to her and Maleficent. A crow gracefully lands onto his shoulder.

-And is this the famous Diaval? I ask.

-It sure is, queen Aurora smiles.

-Come, I will walk with you, Aurora says and hoops her arm through mine.

-Do not touch anything! Maleficent shouts at us.

-I won't. I will just look, I say back. Aurora giggles.

Maleficent POV

I turn Diaval into a human.

-Well she sure is something, isn't she? He asks.

-She's human, I sneer.

-Only half, Diaval reminds me and I send him a sharp glance.

-Sorry master, he says.

-Half or not, she is still a stranger, I say and carefully walk after Beastie and the girl who's name I still haven't grasped yet.

I follow them around the meadow, finding the strange girl more familiar as time goes by.

I find my stomach jumping as she smiles and my brain doing cartwheels as she laughs. I stand and watch how she carefully leans down by a sad looking blue flower and blowing some air onto it, making it perk up right away.

-Wow, where did you learn that? Aurora asks her.

-I don't know, your majesty. I've always been able to do this. Flowers are kind of my thing, the girl says.

-Wow. Show me more! Aurora says and kneels beside the girl. The girl takes a deep breath and blows over the flower and into the grass. Between the tuffs of green are blue flowers sprouting. Aurora laughs in glee as magical pollen flows through the air by the breeze and falls carefully onto her and the girl. Fairies fly through the shimmers and dance around in it. Trolls and other creatures quickly following suit.

The girl looks at me and smiles as she stands.

-Thank you for the tour. I do hope I find my way back sometime, this is a lovely place, she says to Aurora.

-Of course. I hope you do come back, these fields are lonely without flowers in the summers, Aurora says and stands up. The girl nods and smiles, my stomach turning inside out. The glittery pollen has landed all over her, making her shine almost brighter than the stars on the night sky. I look after her as she walks past me and out of the meadow.

-Diaval, I address him.

-Yes master? He asks.

-Keep an eye on her. Let me know what more she can do, I say.

-Of course, Diaval says.

-And Diaval, I say.

-Make sure she comes back, I say. I can see him grin slightly out of the corner of my eye, before I turn him into a crow again and he follows the girl out of the forest.

A few days later, Diavals POV:

I sit in a tree as I watch the girl buy some sad looking flowers from the local flower shop. As fast as the money is passed to the florist, the girl carefully blows a soft breeze on them and they immediately perk up and look newly bloomed. I tilt my head in fascination. She then walks past a couple of girl braiding each other hair. She leaves a couple of flowers beside them and the girls thank her loudly as they start putting them all over each others hair. I decide to fly after her as she disappears behind a house corner. She greets fairies on her way and hand a couple of them flowers. She then walks past a window that has a windowsill full of pots with dried up flowers. She discreetly licks her pointer finger and thumb and rub them over the petals on the flowers. And just like magic they rise proudly and look like they were picked yesterday. The girl smiles and continues to walk on, leaving flowers to people as she walks, leaving one wild rose to be left. I fly over her and then land on the ground behind her and walk after her to her destination. She stops in her tracks and so do I. She turns around with a bright smile on her face.

-Hello Diaval, she says. I squawk in response.

-I saw you earlier and I thought you were in town for Aurora but then you followed me. Why? She asks. I roll my eyes.

-Maleficent, she says knowingly. I squawk again. She huffs out a breath and smiles bittersweet smile.

-This rose was meant for my sick father, though... I think Maleficent deserves it more, she says and kneels down and holds the flower out to me. I scream as I refuse to take the beautiful rose. she laughs.

-Its ok, look, she says and picks a petal off of the rose and it turn to its own I her other hand. then she looks back at me.

-Now will you take it? she asks. I croak and pick the rose with my beak.

-And when you meet him, tell me that I'd love to come back to the meadow sometime, she says. I nod and then fly back to the meadow.

As I get there, Maleficent is standing with his back towards me. I drop the flower on his shoulder gently before landing in front of him. He takes the flower off of his shoulder and looks at me. I squawk as a demand to be turned back. He turns me human and I nod

-Thank you, I say.

-Now I believe this isn't a gift from you, he says.

-Its not master. Its from the girl, I say. He cocks his head to the side.

-She saw me and knew that it was me and told me to bring it to you, I say. He inspects the flower.

-She also had a message for you. She said that, with your permission, she'd love to come back to the meadow, I say. he ponders for a bit and turns away, putting the flower in a pocket on the front of his robe.

-Alright. Tomorrow you will fly into town, find her and give her this letter, he says to me and hands me a pre made letter. I nod impressively.

-Then you shall visit Aurora and I will be joining you in the castle, he says before turning me back to a crow and flying off.

The day after Y/N POV:

I talk to one of the fairies that started living here after the war when a familiar crow lands next to us with a letter in its beak.

-Well hello there Diaval, I say and crouch down to pet him on his head. He coos.

-Is this for me? I ask as he lets me take the letter from his beak and he nods. I look at the fairy and she tells me to go ahead. I open the letter.

"Dear unfamiliar girl, I am happy to invite you to the meadow this here evening. Diaval will escort you there at sunset. He will be there to guide and protect you on your journey. I hope that we will get a chance to talk.

Best regards

Maleficent"

I look wondering at Diaval.

-Thank you, I say and he croaks and flies off. I stare a second longer at the letter before I close the letter back up and place it in my dress pocket.

-I'm sorry, what were we talking about? I ask and my conversation with the fairy continues.

Third Person POV:

Little did the half fairy girl expect that the mysterious man was sitting in a nearby tree watching her as she talked to a female from his own species. And just as before, his stomach danced as she smiled. He sighs to himself as he loves and hate that feeling he gets. He then looks down at his knuckles where a dusty handprint is. He hoped and cursed to himself that it was the girl. He knew it was... It was up for a test.
