So I saw this movie, and fell in love with Barkley.... Do I need to say more?
Read and enjoy!
————————————————————————
Y/N POV:
Homework is hard, and not to mention, boring.
I sigh as I stare at the blank word document in front of me. I groan as I recite the application to myself.
-Write something... about yourself... and research it. Find out something about yourself... that you didn't know before.... Ugh!!! I shout into my hands.
I hear the front door open and close.
-Y/N! Babe, I'm home! I hear my boyfriend say as he walks inside. I sigh and sit back in my chair.
-Hi Barley... I say. I hear Blazey running around Barley as he comes closer to me. He kisses my cheek and looks at the page.
-How long have you been sitting here, exactly? He asks. I think.
-Since..... 9? I say, unsure. Barley's eyes widen.
-Babe, you've been sitting here for 5 and a half hours! He says and I nod.
-Yep... and I haven't written a single word... I say and smack my hands down defeatedly in my lap.
-Hey, that's not entirely true... You wrote a nice little title! Barley says and I groan.
-"the sea of me". That's cute! Barley says and puts a hand on my shoulder. I shake my head.
-But it's not my whole application... I say.
The cogs turn in my brain.
-You know what? You've been here for too long... let's go on a quest! Barley requests.
-A quest? A quest for what? I asked amused. He was very keen on going out on random quests and adventures. Even dragged his brother to see his dad once... I've never felt so stressed before.
Barley grabs my hand and pulls me out of my seat.
-A quest for sustenance and sweets, my dear! He says and I roll my eyes.
-Barley... I'm not so sure I should... I say.
-Of course you are! You're dressed and you got me, your entertainment! What else could you possibly need? Barley asks and drags me out to Guinevere the second. I laugh.
-Well... I sigh and look back into the kitchen table and the open, blank computer.
I smile and look at Barley through the car. He's holding my door open for me. I laugh and run around the car. Barley lifts me up and puts me on the seat, closing the door, before running around the car and hopping in the drivers seat.

Barley laughs and starts Guinevere 2 and sticks in a musical tape. Our tape. He made it for me for our first year anniversary last month. It's filled with all the songs we enjoy singing and dancing to. He turns up the volume and pulls down the windows as he backs onto the road and drives off.
The first song we slow danced to comes on and I hum the melody quietly. Barley smiles at me and does the same. Soon enough, we're just singing loudly and off tune to the song as it continues on. When it stops, another one starts. Barley drums to the rhythm and I play air guitar and we both shout the lyrics.
We arrive at a burger place nearby and Barley and I get out of Guinevere 2. We get in and order our sustenance and get back in the car. Barley drives us to the beach, where we climb up onto the roof of Guinevere 2 and watch as the sun travels lower on the sky.
-This wasn't so bad, was it? Barley asks and unwraps his burger. Me, eager for food enough as it is, I have already dug into the fresh burger with crisp salad and nice condiments on.
I nod and lick my lips for sauce before taking another bite. Barley laughs and begins eating his burger.
When we're done with the food, we sit, leaning against each other and watching the sunset.
Barley is holding my left hand and I'm holding my milkshake with the other.
-Thank you Barley... god knows I needed this, I say and look up at him. He smiles softly down at me.
-Of course, my love, he says. I smile and lean up to peck his lips. He puts a hand on my cheek, before I pull away.
-Besides, I couldn't leave my hard working girlfriend to suffer with schoolwork, he says. I furrow my brows.
-Hard working...? What's that supposed to mean..? I ask.
-Well... for starters, you're really passionate about college and very picky about where you wanna go. And even through you think this whole day has been a failure because you didn't start on your college application.... I mean, compared to me, who's not even trying as hard... In a day, you managed to walk blazey, make me and my family breakfast and lunch, take out the trash I forgot, do the dishes after yourself, and making my bed... You do a lot, even though you say you don't do anything, Barley explains and takes a sip out of his milkshake. I chuckle.

-No, that's just... that's just a normal day, I... it wasn't anything special, I say and shrug. Barley makes an "umph" sound, as he tries to swallow the milkshake.
-That's where you are wrong my dear, he says and points a finger in the air, making me very confused.
-You do it because it's the right thing to do, as you live with us. You work hard to get your college applications and keep your sorrow songs and mind clear, Barley says. My eyes widen.
-Barley... I say.
-Yeah? He says curiously, as if he didn't just say what he said.
-We need to get home... now, I say and turn to him.
-Why? He asks. I start packing everything up.
-Just, now! I say hurriedly. He immediately starts helping me pack up, get down and starts driving, almost speeding home.
-What's going on!? Barley asks stressed. I wrote down what he said to me on my phone.
-Just keep your eyes on the road babe, I say as I write what comes into my head.
-Alright, he says and drives a little faster.
He parks in the driveway and I run inside.
-Hi Y/N! What got you in such a hurry? Chief Bronco asks as I search frantically for my computer.
-What are you searching for? Laurel asks.
-My computer.... I have a breakthrough! I say. Barley comes inside.
-What is happening? Laurel asks him. He shakes his head and shrugs.
-Your computer is right here, Ian says and points to the coffee table. I run over and open it, immediately sitting down and starting to brainstorm.
After 5 minutes, comes Barley with a glass of water.
-Babe... Whats going on? He asks quietly. I smile and look at his concerned face.
-Remember what you told me on the beach? I ask happily. Barley nods hesitantly. I turn my computer for him to read what I sped wrote.
-You gave me such a kick of inspiration, I say as he reds the text.
-Y/N... this is, Barley laughs and looks into my eyes.
-Wow... this is amazing... you're amazing, he says. I put a hand on his cheek.
-I wouldn't be any of that if it weren't for you, I say. He smiles and we lean in. I smile and close my eyes. Our lips barely touch before we hear:
-Ew, guys! I'm still sitting here, couldn't you wait!? Ian says. Me and Barley laughs at Ian's antics as he walks upstairs.
-Well... Barley says.
-Well? I echo.
-I'm gonna leave you to it, he says and stands up.
-Nuh-uh! I say and pull him back onto the couch. He stares shocked at me.
-I need to know what else you think of me, I say and place the computer in my lap.
-Oh really? He asks and puts his chin in his hand. I nod.
-Every single thing...? He asks tauntingly. I blush and look at him.
-No-Barley! I scold and he laughs. Then he opens his arms. I smile and crawl into them, turning around and leaning into his chest. He puts his arms around my stomach and rests his chin on my shoulder.
I start writing again.
Barley sighs happily and kisses my cheek.
-I'm so proud of you, he says. I stop writing and turn my head to look at him. He looks happily at me. We share a long, nice kiss.
-I love you Barley....Thank you for believing in me when I don't, I say. He kisses my forehead.
-I love you too... he says and he helps me write the paragraph I'm on.
Time skip: ??? Days/weeks/months later:
We kept writing into the late hours of the night on the text.
And here we stand in our new shared apartment, close to the college where we both will be attending.
-See? I told you that you were hard working! Barley says.
-And I told you not to be too hard on yourself, because you're hard working too, I say. Barley looks around and puts an arm around my waist.
-Yeah... were pretty awesome, he says and smiles down at me. I nod, confirming his statement to be true.
-We are, I smile you at him. He presses his lips on mine. I giggle and put my hands around his neck, fiddling with the long strands of hair that are sticking out from underneath his beanie.
This.... is us...
