Miles POV:
Y/N and I have been going out for about 2 years now. We've had phone calls as we sit by our windows and it's almost as if we have regular conversations. I text her everyday after school, as well as a good morning and good night text... I know she loves those.
But I'm in a period when I find it hard to balance private life with being spider man.
I hear the first two ringtones call, before she picks up.
-Hi Miles! She says, happy as ever.
-Hi babe... Do you, eh, have any time to talk? I ask insecure. I was supposed to go with my roommate to the movies tonight, but I couldn't.
-Yeah sure, what's on your mind? She asks. I sigh.
-I can tell you... but I can't tell you what it's about, I say.
-Oh, ehm, Alright? Y/N says unsure. I sigh.
-I've just been stressed lately and I... I can't seem to manage it all, I say.
-Alright, what're you stressed about? Y/N asks.
-School... life... work, I say. I've covered up my Spider identity with "work". That way I can say what happened at work without telling her what I did.
-Aha, work, I see, she says.
-It's just been too much lately, especially with finals coming soon, I say and sigh.
-All I want right now is to be in your arms, I say.
Y/N POV:
I smile and blush heavily at what he just said.
-Really? I ask and look myself in the mirror. I haven't had the best mental health lately and hearing him just made it all so much better.
-Yeah... I want you to hold me while we watch some movies and cuddle... that's all that I want, Miles says and I giggle.
-What? Miles asks amused as he hears my giggle.
-Nothing I just... you're adorable, I say.
-Aw shucks, he says.
-I'm serious! I say.
We talk for about one more hour after that before we have to eat dinner.
-Alright. Good luck at finals mr smarty pants, I say.
-Good luck yourself, my window girl, Miles says and we hang up.
Two days later;
I'm sitting in my room with my window open to let in the fresh air as I study for finals. The sound of honking cars calm me as I try to figure out the problem on the paper in front of me. Then suddenly I feel a presence and I look up. And in my window sits the one and only spider man.
-Oh! I say, scared shitless. He just sits there.
-Hello? I say.
-Hi, he says.

-Oh so you can talk! I say.
-Sorry, I just never heard your voice before, I say. He chuckles.
-It's cool... what're you up to? He asks. I look down at my papers.
-Oh, ehm... studying for finals, I say.
-Ahhh, cool, cool, he says, before it's turns quiet.
-May I ask why you're here? I ask.
-Well, because you looked pretty lonely up here by yourself, so I thought I'd join you, he says.
-Why me? I ask. He shrugs. I smile.
-Well, it's nice to have some company. I'm not gonna be able to see my boyfriend until finals are done anyway, I say.
-You have a boyfriend? He asks. I nod.
-What's his name? He asks.
-Miles Morales, right across the street, I say.
A few weeks later, after finals:
Spider man had been sitting with me while I study for some company. Every time I didn't understand, he'd tell me the answer. He was almost as smart as Miles. Of course I had called Miles directly after my first meeting with Spider-Man. He was happy that I had something else that made me happy when he wasn't there, and he always sounded so amused when I ranted about how good time we had when we were studying.
But now studying's over, finals are done and I'm walking home today, when suddenly I hear ruckus down the road. I see a big metal piece flying and Spider-Man catching it.
-Spider-Man... I whisper concerned. Suddenly a car gets hurled at me. I scream and curl into a ball, but I feel no pain. I look up and there he stands: Spider-Man.
-Sup window girl! He says.
-Hi! I say terrified. He throws away the car at the big robotic bad guy.
-Why aren't you at home? He asks as he helps me into safety.
-Because I decided to walk home today, I say, before flinching as some other type of metal hits the building next to us. He sighs.
-Wow, you really have some terrible timing, window girl, he says sarcastically. His voice sounded awfully familiar right as he said that.
-no shit... I breathe.
-Listen, get home as fast as you can, and I'll try to drive him somewhere else, he says.
-Sounds like a plan, I say as I move to the closest tube entrance, but it immediately getting blocked my a big car that lands on top. I and a couple of others scream, before running the other way. I try to stay close to Spider-Man, because he wouldn't let me get hurt. I try hiding behind cars as I watch the fight unfold. I follow them to make sure that Spider-Man is alright. But as the police and probably the Air Force come to aid, the big robotic monster chucks Spider-Man into a small alleyway. I gasp and as quietly as I can, I move towards the alley. I hear groaning and I run towards him.

I kneel beside him and turn him over, his mask and suit being a bit torn in places, showing some dark skin. He groans as he places a hand upon his ribs.
-Oh my god, I say and check him over for any external injuries. He rolls his head my way and I see a big gash on his forehead. I needed to remove the mask so he could breathe better and put pressure on it. I quickly remove the mask and throw it into a corner of the alley before I see who it is... and I stop breathing. Time stops.
-Miles...? I ask as tears surface.
-Hey window girl, he smiles weakly. I cover my mouth with my hands.
-Oh no... no no no no no! I say but quickly rip off a bit of his suit that was torn and I apply pressure to his head. He puts his hand on mine and smiles love struck at me.
-Damn it Miles, this is not the time to be romantic, I say as tears fall. Suddenly I hear ambulance. I quickly look him over and cover him in my cardigan, telling him to keep pressure on his head and running out of the alley way. I see Miles dad talking to a medic and I run up to them.
-It's Miles, he got caught in a crossfire, he- he's bleeding from the head and his ribs are probably broken, I lie.
-Show me, officer Davis says and I show him and a group of paramedics the alleyway where he's laying. I see them pick him up on ambulance bed and running towards an ambulance. I follow them. At the ambulance, officer Davis stops.
-Y/N... I want you to go home and talk with your parents, me or Rio will call you once we know anything, he says. I only nod and watch as the doors to the ambulance close and they drive away.
I immediately run home.
I pace around my room till I feel that my floor is getting dented. I watch my phone. Every notification could be on life or death. Suddenly it calls and I jump on my phone.
-Hello? I ask panicked.
-Hey Y/N, it's Rio.
-How is- Miles is doing ok, she cuts me off and I exhale deeply.
-You can come meet him now if you'd like, she says.
-Alright... I'm on my way, I say and pack some small essentials before my dad drives me to the hospital.
At the hospital, Rio find me and takes me to Miles' room. I sit beside his bed as his parents stand. I grab his hand.
-Hey Miles... I say. He opens his eyes and they look dazed into mine.
-Hey Baby, he says.
-How are you? Are you ok? I ask.
-Well, I've been better, he says and winces from me touching his wound in his head.
-Could I just get a few moment with him please? I ask his parents. They nod and walk out into the hall, closing the door behind them.
-Do your parents know? I ask quietly. He shakes his head.
-No... and I want it to stay that way, Miles says.
I nod.
-Oh my god, I can't believe you are Spider-Man, I whisper as tears begin surfacing again and I begin bouncing my heel on the floor.
-Y/N..., Miles tries to calm.
-So you snuck out of school to see me during the weeks and to help me with finals? I ask. He smirks and nods.
-Idiot, I say and lightly slap his arm.
-Ow, hey, he says offended.
-And you caught a flying car! I say.
-Yup, he says.
-And I told you about you, I say and my foot begins bouncing heavier and heavier for everything I piece together.
-Y/N, baby, it's ok... Miles says.
-Yes it is, I... I feel like such an idiot, I cry.
-Babe, hey, ssshhhhh, Mikes says and puts a calming hand on my bouncing leg.
-We're ok, he says. I shake my head.
-What if you die? I ask.
-That's not gonna happen, Miles comforts.
-But what if. What if just that one time... like for the old Spider-Man? I sob. He looks me in my eyes.
-Baby.. I can't promise you that I'm never going to die, he says and dries some tears.
-But I can promise to try to never die anywhere else then in your arms at 98 years old, he says and I dry my tears.
-Alright? He asks. I nod.
-This is all my fault. I shouldn't have dragged you into this, he says.
-I know... But I still love you, I say.
-Good, cause so do I and Spider-Man, Miles says and I kiss him.
-You're kinda like my MJ, you know, he says when we pull apart. I giggle.
-No, I'm your window girl, remember? I say.
-Right... My window girl, he says and we kiss again.

Primacy Online
Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online. Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real. Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church. Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live.
