Y/N POV

It's late. I'm just laying in bed reading my favorite book. The fireworks had already gone off and this 4:th of July, I just wanted to curl up in my room with the radio on a low volume and a good book. Mom had promised me privacy, unless I called for her.

Suddenly, a lot of fire trucks and police cars fly past on the road outside.

-Uhm, mom!? I shout. Mom walks in.

-Yes honey? She asks, and gasps when she sees the caravan of police cars.

-It looks like they're going to star court... mom says... then I remember Steve and Robin.

-Mom, we have to go there, I say quickly and put away my book.

-What? She asks.

-Now! I hurry and get my shoes and jacket before running out to the car. I would drive myself, but my Adrenalin made my hands shake, and I didn't want a ticket for speeding or crashing into someone. Mom comes running after me with her jacket unzipped and car keys in hand. She almost speeds on the way to the mall, asking why I was in such a hurry. But I couldn't answer. I was afraid something happened to my friends.

When we arrive, I see the vehicles parked outside, and smoke coming from the roof of the theatre. I quickly get out of the car and run around. I see the kids. Wherever the kids are, Steve has to be. And wherever Steve is, so is Robin. I suddenly see the blonde standing beside Steve. I almost cry when I see them both wrapped up in blankets. Robin sees me and I run over to her. She opens her arm and the blanket and hugs me tightly.

-Robin.... What happened...? I sob and she pets my head.

-I... can't tell you, she says and I pull away from her.

-Why? I ask.

-Because it'll put you in danger, Steve jumps in. I look at him and hug him too.

-I just saw... fire truck and-and police cars... I say. Tears forcefully falls from my eyes. Steve hesitates before hugging me back. Robin hugs both of us and we just hug each other until I calm down.

-Hey Steve's girlfriend! I hear a voice say. We stop the hug and look at the curly headed boy. I smile.

-Still calling me that? I ask.

-Yep! He nods. Then he holds out his hand.

-Dustin Henderson, he says. I shake his hand and smile.

-Y/N Y/L, I say.

-Oh! Steve got a real catch this time, eh? Dustin says and I look up to Steve, who almost looks like a tomato, about to explode.

-Stop it Henderson, Steve says, embarrassed.

-Why Harrington? You got a secret or something? I tease lightly. Steve sighs and Dustin awkwardly walks away.

-Ok, what is going on? I ask Robin and Steve. They both look at me, then at each other.

-This isn't the first time I've heard it, you know? I say and cross my arms.

-Well.... I can't tell you too much, Robin starts. I look to my left to see my mom talking to a police officer.

-But basically, we got a drug that made us speak the truth... and... Steve, please take over, it's better if it comes from you, Robin says and walks away to the kids. I turn expectingly to Steve.

-So, Uhm... my truth that I spilled, was Uh.... That I like you, and I didn't know how to tell you, Steve confesses, and I stare shocked at him.

-And Dustin helped us out from our drugged states, so he heard everything I said and now he thinks you're my- girlfriend, I interrupt him. He nods sheepishly. I smile.

-Look, this wasn't really how I planned this moment to be. I was going to put a note in your ice cream and ask you out, he chuckles, making me giggle.

-That's really sweet Steve, I say and he smiles.

-So would you go? He asks. I furrow my brows.

-Go? Go where? I ask.

-Go out? With me...? Steve specifies.

-Yes, I say, without hesitation.

-Wait- y-you would? Steve asks shocked, and I smile a bit bigger.

-Yeah... I mean, I've liked you for a bit and maybe with time, we'd just fall head over heels for each other, I say and shrug a bit. Steve smiles and his eyes twinkle.

-I.... I think I just did.... he says. We stand there, the red and blue lights blinking on our skin, giving of a weird, but calming glow.

Steve puts a hand on my cheek and I take a step closer to him.

-Can I kiss you...? He asks. I giggle and nod. Steve carefully leans down and kisses me softly. I quickly grab him by the neck and pull him a bit closer to not make the kiss seem weird. Steve chuckles into the kiss and puts another hand on my waist, pulling me to him.

-I told you it was his girlfriend! I hear and me and Steve part. We look over to the side, where Dustin is excitedly pointing to us. Robin smirks and gives us a thumbs up.

-Y/N, honey! There you are! We have to get home, it's getting late, my mom runs up to me and Steve. Steve quickly backs away from me and smiles secretly down at me. Mom notices Steve and smiles.

-Mom, I want you to meet my boyfriend... I start and grab Steve's hand.

-Steve, I finish.

-Hi Steve! It's very nice to meet you! Mom shakes Steve's hand.

-It's very nice to meet you too, mrs. L/N, Steve says.

-I have to go Steve... are you going to be ok? Do you have anywhere to stay? I ask. Steve frowns.

-No, I-.... I don't wanna go home alone... Steve says.

-Mom, could he stay the night? I ask.

-Honey, I don't know if that's such a good idea right now, mom says.

-Please? He's a bit shaken and he doesn't want to be home alone, I pout and make big puppy eyes at her.

-Alright, alright! He can stay, but I don't want to hear about a damn baby in 9 months! Mom teases, making us both turn red.

-Mom!? I scold and she giggles and walks to the car. Robin walks up to me and Steve.

-Are you going to be alright? You can stay too if you want, I offer her. She smiles.

-No, I'm alright... Besides, I wouldn't want to ruin your romantic night, she says and winks. Steve buffs her shoulder and she buffs mine. We laugh lightly at each other.

-I'll call you tomorrow? I offer her instead. She smiles.

-Works for me, she says. I grab Steve's hand again.

-C'mon, lets go home... I say and lead him to my moms car. Before we reach the car, Steve spins me around and kisses me.

-Sorry... I couldn't help myself, he says sheepishly against my lips. I kiss him back.

-Neither could I, I say and giggle. We hop into the backseat of the car and hold hands all the way home.

Sounds unreal, I know... But it was us. We held hands and pecked each other lips the rest of the night. Steve said that he was afraid that this would all be a fever dream if he didn't touch me, and that I would disappear. I didn't. I stayed by his side and promised to do so; forever.
