Y/N POV
I didn't want to go home... at least not yet...
So I decided to take the long way home, and it was quite dangerous, since it was over American territory. But it was safe now, since everyone was at the gym, or at home sleeping by this time. I smile at the amazing night I had and I begin singing a song that I heard on the radio the other day. I begin jumping and skipping down the sidewalks to the rhythm in my head and I imagined myself dancing with the American- but something snaps and I fall onto the hard concrete.
I groan as I sit up. I look down at my foot, and turns out my heel on my shoe broke off. I pout.
-My favorite shoes... I say, before taking off the shoes and walking barefoot on the cold pavement streets of Manhattan. When I take a step, my ankle almost gives up on me and I whimper in pain... I twisted my ankle... just great...
But the heels, on the other hand, could my dad fix in a jiffy.
My knee got a bit scraped, but nothing that can't be cleaned with water and a band aid.
As I walk toward the Puerto Rican's territory I continue to him the melody of that song.
-Hey! I hear a man shout suddenly.
-Hey you there! He was American. Uh oh, I was in trouble...
-Hey! The man shouts again. I stop. There was only one way I'd get out of this. I slowly turn around and I see a figure in the darkness.
-I-I'm sorry, my heel broke a-and I twisted my ankle... I'll leave, I promise, I say. The figure doesn't move, instead it stops.
-You? He asks. I look confused at the man, until he steps out into the streetlight. It was the American with the yellow jacket...I feel only shock... o boy, he was probably going to kill me now that he knew who I was. He begins walking with determined steps towards me.

Right there, I was the most scared I've ever been. I protect my face with my hands and cower.
-I'm sorry, please don't hurt me! I say. The sound of the feet in the pavement stops.
-Why would you think I would hurt you? He asks. I remove my hands from my eyes and he looks curiously down at my cowering form.
-B-because I'm Na...Bernardos cousin... I say. He only smiles softly at me.
-No, no, no... I don't hit ladies, it's against my policy, he says and reaches out a hand for me to take. I gratefully do and he helps me put weight on my ankle.
-There you go, nice and easy... he says calmly as he begins walking with me towards the Puerto Rican's neighborhood.
-I never caught your name... he then says. I look towards him.
-... It's Y/N... I say, trying to smile a bit.
-Y/N... a gorgeous name for a gorgeous girl, he smirks. I roll my eyes at his cheesiness.
-And yours? I ask.
-What? He asks.
-Your name? I ask again.
-Oh! It's Riff, he says. I smile. It was a nice name... odd, but nice nonetheless.
-Nice name... Riff... I say. Something swelled up in my heart as I said it.
-It sounds nice when you say it like that... Say it again... He asks, but apparently didn't mean for me to hear him, since his face burned red and he turned away from my gaze. I giggle.
-Riff.... I say. He slowly turns back to me.
We are almost at the border between the territories, only a block left.
-I wish I could stay all night, with you, saying my name, over and over again... Riff says dreamily. My heart swells even more.
-Me too... I say. He stares lovingly into my eyes.

-Y/N! Get away from him! I hear Nardo's voice. I turn towards the border and sure enough, there he is, with all of the sharks members.
-What have you done to her!? He shouts angrily at Riff.
-Nardo, I'm fine! He hasn't done anything! I say.
-She broke a heel and twisted her ankle! I found her limping in the wrong neighborhood and thought I should escort her home! Riff answers my angry cousin.
-You let her go, now, Nardo growls angrily.
-Can I at least help her to you guys? Riff asks and we take a few steps closer.
-No! You let her go by herself! Nardo says angrily. I send and apologetic look to him, before he lets go of me and I limp slowly toward my cousin. Anita immediately puts an arm around me and asks if I'm ok. I nod and smile at her. Then I look over at Riff, the love in his eyes never fading, and I wished he'd swipe that stupid grin off his face.
-You'll gonna regret this! Sleep with one eye open tonight! Bernardo warns as we all turn to walk home so we could fix my ankle. I look back and I see that Riff put his hands in his pockets and is still smiling. He nods to me before turning around and walking to his own home.
Anita is wrapping my foot, so it can heal properly. Also, Bernardo has forbidden me from walking to the rooftop before my ankle has fully healed, which as always, was just a bunch of empty lies.
-What were you doing in American territory? Anita asks. I sigh happily and giggle.
-I've had such an amazing night... I just didn't want it to end, so I walked the long road home, I say. Anita laughs at me.
-You are loco, she says and laughs. I nod proudly.
-I know, I say and smirk. Anita ties the end of the bandage to my foot, making it stick.
-There you go... Now make sure you rest, and don't even think about going up to the rooftop, Anita says.
-Alright mom, I joke and Anita smiles.
-Thank you Anita... Now go and have your fun, Dad says and shoos her out of the apartment. Dad takes my heels and smiles to me as he heads to his work room, making me smile, knowing that he'll fix my shoes.
I sit for a while before getting bored. All that my mind could conjure up for me was pictures of Riff. I sigh, frustrated, and stand up, limping towards our fire escape that we shared with my aunt and uncle and my cousins. I get out to see Maria and Tony hold hands. All I could feel was shock.
