Y/N POV
It's a beautiful day on my island.
I go to the beach and dig my feet down in the sand while watching the blue sky by the horizon. Suddenly I hear a squeak and a pair of flapping wings. A small green bird falls down into the ocean.
-Oh my gods! I say and run towards the wet bird. The water only went up to my ankles and I picked up the bird.
I pet the small birds head and it slowly leans into my touch. Suddenly all the water by my feet gets sucked out into the ocean.
-Y/N! Get out of there! My parents shout as the run up to the highest mountain on the island. I look out into the ocean, and a humongous wall of water is coming towards me.
I try to run, but the wave splashed down on me, and everything fades away.
A couple of months later:
I wake up and feel like I'm laying on a big cloud... that's really hot and burning, owowowow! I jump up from my place on the ground and look around me. The sun is shining and it's burning my skin a little. A small green bird flies up to me and.... I recognize it... But from where...? I look on my arm and a tattoo of, what I think is me, holding a little bird in front of a big wave. Suddenly a flash of memories hit my mind, and I start crying. The little bird sits in front of me.
-What's wrong? It says.... wait... it. The bird. Just. Talked... birds don't talk!
-Wha...? How do you... I..... I must be dreaming, I can't be dead, birds don't talk and... where am I? I say looking around once again.
-I don't know, the bird says.
-I just woke up too.
I look down, and a beautiful skirt with animal embroidery on it, and a top with a bird on it. It looks like the one in front of me.

-Ok, so, am I dead? I ask.
-I don't know. But I DO know that I'm dead, the bird says. Ok, I can't keep calling him "the bird".
-What's your name? I ask.
-It's chip! Because my squeak sounds like it! Chip, chip! He says.
(What am I doing with my life...?)
-Ok so.... If you're dead, doesn't it mean I'm dead too? I ask and another flash of memories comes flooding.
'Giant wave... sinking to the ocean floor... a sweet, sweet light...'
-I need to get home, I say and start walking.
-Where are you going? Chip asks.
-Home, I answer.
-Hey! I hear a deep voice shout after me. I turn around and a big muscular man stands there with a big pile of wood under his arm.
-Where do you think you're going? He asks and crosses his arms.
-Uuuhhhh, why would I tell you? I ask uneasily.
-Because I saved you! That's my job! And now it's my job to look after you until you get better, he says confidently. I roll my eyes and look over to chip, who looks just as unamused.
-So, human, what's your name? He asks.
-Well... I'm Y/N... and I'm not so sure I'm that much of a human anymore, I say sheepishly and walk over to the man.
-Anymore? What does that mean? The man asks.
-Well... I'm pretty sure that I died a couple of months ago... and now I can talk to birds...? I say very unsure. He stares at me, then suddenly sits down on the logs.
-Wow... So... you're the Y/N... The goddess and protector of animals? He says, barely audible, but, I could make out the words. I look around myself, then at chip.
-I... suppose so? I say unsure. When I look back to Maui, he is on his knees, bowing to me.
-What are you doing? I ask.
-You have plenty of prophesies, some of them including me... I have no other reason than to respect you, he says and sits back up.

-Well, that was nice and all... But where are we? Chip asks.
-Yeah, uh, where exactly are we? I ask the man.
-And who are you? I quickly add.
-I'm Maui, Demi-god of the wind and sea, hero of people! He says proudly and stands up.
-And were on my good friends' island! I found you and decided that this was the closest place to set a camp, he says and starts making a fire.
After it's done, He sits down on the sand and watch it intensely. I slowly make my way to beside him and watch the fire.
-.... You told me there were prophesies... with us? What does that mean? I ask.
-There are many tales of how you will save animal cruelty and how you communicate with them on a scale that only you understand. And... one day.... you and I will have a child... He says and looks nervously at me.
-Well, that's one way to tell that you're soulmates, chip laughs.
-Excuse me, a CHILD? I ask. Maui only nods before sighing.
-I'm sorry... I say and shake my head.
-When, exactly, will that child, be made? I ask. Maui shrugs.
-I don't know... not now at least, He laughs and looks at me. I smile at him.
-Well... this has been crazy enough, so, I say and adjust my sitting so that I face him.
-Tell me everything, I say.
-Excuse me? Maui laughs.
-Tell me everything. About you, about the prophesies... Everything! I say. Maui looks curiously at me.
-Ok... Maui says and turns to me.
The rest of the night, he told me everything about everything. Where he came from, how he defeated a goddess in her evil form....
It was all very fascinating.
A couple of thousand years later:
Maui and I have been together for a long time. We've befriended many tribes and many people around the world.
But as I speak, we're at a beach somewhere in the warmer regions and I'm sitting comfortably on the warm sand, thinking back to the day I met Maui. I thought about how we stayed up all night as he told me of the prophesies, and how his smile would light up when he heard the news.
-Have you told him yet? Or will you tell him today? Will you? Will you? Chip says as he hops along my leg. I giggle.
-I will tell him when the time is right Chip... I say and smile.
-Tell who, what? Maui asks as he sits down. I smile up at him. He kisses my cheek tenderly and I put my head on his shoulder.
-Maui... you know the prophesies you told me about...? I ask.
-Which ones? He asks.
-The first one you told me about, I say.
-The one about the baby...? Maui asks. I nod. I lean up to sit on my own and I smirk at him as his eyes widen.
-Wait. You- you're saying-that-What-I... Maui stumbles and to stop his rambling I kiss him.
-Yes Maui... you're going to be a father... I say.
-Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Maui shouts as he jumps up and down.
-I take that as good news, Chip says sarcastically. I roll my eyes at him.
-Shut up, I say and Chip laughs and flies away into the sunset.
Suddenly Maui picks me up from the ground and spins me around.
-I'm going to be a dad! Maui says happily and lifts me high enough for him to kiss my stomach.
-And we're going to be a family.... I say as Maui brings me in for a kiss as we hear chips happy singing as the sun sets behind the ocean.
Everything is perfect....

He died for the only thing he truly cared about, his family. In a different world a talented mage completes his life’s work, an entire rebuilding of one of the greatest ancient spells, resurrection. Bypassing the stringent requirements, he attempts to make this great magic accessible to the masses, and by doing so earn his place in history. But lost to the passage of time is the reason for these requirements. Not to unnecessarily complicate this great magic, but to ensure the transfer of only mortal souls. For there are things that dwell in the realm of the dead that should never be allowed to cross over.
