It hurt like hell!
Qu Xiao felt as though her body was being torn apart. She held her head and struggled to open her eyes.
Seeing that she had woken up, the butler hurriedly asked the doctor to check on her condition.
The cold instrument moved on Qu Xiao's head, and the beeping made her flustered. She searched the room for Shang Yan. "Where is he..."
"The police are taking statements for Mr. Shang in the living room. He will come over when he is done. Don't worry."
Qu Xiao struggled to sit up. She coughed twice and asked worriedly in a weak voice, "Police?"
The butler nodded. "Mr. Ling is suspected of trespassing private property, kidnapping you and destroying your marriage. He is suspected of stealing trade secrets and has been taken away by the police for investigation."
Of course, Ling Chi did not expect that Shang Yan would be so ruthless. He asked the bodyguards to surround Ling Chi until the police arrived.
There came the sound of wheels pressing against the ground.
Shang Yan entered the room in silence.
A thick bandage was wrapped around Qu Xiao's head. She pursed her lips in grievance and stared straight at Shang Yan.
Shang Yan's eyes were filled with guilt. He cleared his throat and apologized, "It was my fault for not controlling my emotions. I didn't mean to hurt you."
Qu Xiao shot a reproachful look at him. "Then do you believe me?"
The butler and the doctor looked at each other and felt that they were unwanted at this moment. They found an excuse to leave.
Shang Yan did not answer. He came to the bedside and pointed at the meal prepared by the nanny. "The doctor said that your body is very weak and needs nutrition. If you want to eat anything, you can tell the nanny to prepare it for you."

Qu Xiao shook her head. She smelled the fragrance of rice and her stomach rumbled.
The host was thin and sickly because she worried too much.
Qu Xiao was starving. She raised her hand and wanted to take the chopsticks, but when she saw Shang Yan's eyes, she stopped.
Her red lips parted slightly as she leaned towards Shang Yan.
Shang Yan looked at her in surprise and confusion.
Qu Xiao raised her chin in frustration and glanced at the food. She was hinting that he should feed her!
Shang Yan was stunned and wanted to refuse.
Qu Xiao immediately asked, "Didn't you want to make it up to me?"
He did not like to owe others anything. She had to take this opportunity to build a good relationship with him!
She would never divorce him!
When Shang Yan saw Qu Xiao covered in injuries, he recalled that he was indeed the one who harmed her. So, he had no choice but to feed her. He held the spoon awkwardly and scooped some porridge to her lips.
Seeing his uncomfortable expression, Qu Xiao was in a good mood and swallowed the rice.
Exploiting his temporary indulgence, she pointed at the apple and asked him to cut it into small pieces.
Shang Yan did as he was told. He gripped the fruit knife with his long fingers, peeling the apple in one long, curly strip.
Qu Xiao was in a daze. Shang Yan could feel her burning gaze and felt that she was so different from before.
What could change a person's personality so thoroughly?
He paused and pretended to ask casually, "Was Ling Chi at our wedding ceremony?"
When Qu Xiao heard Ling Chi's name, she instinctively revealed a disgusted expression and replied with a frown, "Who cares if he's at our wedding?"

Shang Yan heard her answer and raised his head.
Complicated emotions flashed in his dark eyes as he sized up the woman before him and narrowed his eyes. "Are you Qu Xiao?"
Qu Xiao nearly choked on the apple and burped, her heart racing.
She grabbed Shang Yan's hand in a panic and put his palm over her face. "Of course I am! If you don't believe me, you can check for yourself."
When their skin touched, they both felt their bodies heat up.
The air in the room was thick with sexual tension. Qu Xiao's medical equipment was making ear-piercing beeps and her ears turned red as she lowered her head.
