《Seven Facts Of A Hunter》Prologue

You ran and ran, pushing yourself harder to move forward. Stumbing through the thick forest, you struggle to catch your breath. Stealthily running and jumping, you weave through and over fallen logs and roots. You look behind you to see it nowhere behind you. Looking forward you throw your head back laughing in victory, you finally made it away from him. Your victory is cut short when you miss step and trip over an upturned root.
Your body lands with a thud, you wince in pain as you try to stand. You groan at yourself 'Just my luck' as you grip your ankle. A shadow crosses over your injured figure. Above you stood a medium height male with black hair and eyes to match. The knife in his hand flips as he laughs and aims it at you. Your eyes close as he laughs and brings it down on you, but stops wide eyed half way. A bone-crunching slice rings out, causing you to look up to see a knife handle sticking out of his forehead. The creature falls with a thud. Looking behind yourself, you see Dean lowering his arm.
"I'm Batman." He chuckles walking quickly over to your side. "You all right, kid?"
You chuckle, rolling your eyes "Besides a twisted ankle and a hurt dignity, I think I'll live. But next time, how about you try being the bait."
He laughed as you threw your arm around his shoulder for support as you picked yourself up off of the ground "Come on, let's go find Sammy." He said as you hobbled alongside him out of the forest.
When you were around the age of 10, your mother left without return for a week. You couldn't rely on your father, since he left when you were a baby, but you could rely on a journal he left you. You vividly remember him explaining the purpose of the book "This has three important numbers in it, okay? They are for emergency only. If anything weird happens to you or your mom, call one of these numbers."

You opened the book and investigated the numbers in it. Holding your phone in one hand and the book in the other, you dialed the first number. It rang a few times. You were about to hang up when a voice answered from the other end.
"Hello?" The other voice asked.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. Yuusha Isekai! Youjo Suki!
When Elijah, thirty year old civil servant, open lolicon, and anime otaku finds himself in a new world rather than snuggled up to his Flan-chan Dakimakura, whatever will he do? Will his genre savvy and surprisingly unspectacular cheat be able to save the kingdom, and its cute (if dumb) juvenile princess? Or will he go down in a blaze of foolish glory like the ikemen before him?>> This novel is now dead. It will no longer receive updates. [This is a crazy parody novel, by the way. The goal is a good isekai harem story minus the beta JP MC, but adding unique girls that outgrow their stereotypes, whilst making fun of the genre and popular anime and game culture at large.]
