It's official. Both Noah and I have not spoken other than business. It's been a whole month since he closed me off. It was literally like falling back to square one. I went back to the routine of trying to stay out of sight unless it was needed.
Unlike in the past, I would attended meetings and plannings as well as go to his office to discuss things but that was about it. In simple terms, it was strictly business. To avoid workload, I would end up staying back longer to finish off anything that was pending or needed addressing.
Everyone and I mean everyone had clearly noticed a change in Noah. They were always weary of him whenever he was present in the room. It was as if they were hoping that a ticking time bomb would not set off. It was scary but annoying in my opinion. Everyone was on edge these days.
Today was like no different. Both Noah and I had attended a meeting that Tom had led. It was based around our monthly financial state and where we stood in the market. Quiet boring yet important since I had to finalise the funding for all our upcoming events and projects.

It's now past lunch. I had gone out for lunch with Tan and we came back not long ago from grabbing a Subway. I'm back to sitting in front of my computer screen as the mouse moved around the screen. I pick up my phone as I call someone,
"Hi Mr Pete, it's Mr Noah King's PA speaking, I'm sorry for disturbing you with anything"
There was a light laughter on the other line before I continue, his voice zoning in and out from the receiver side of the call,
"That's amazing Mr Pete, I was just calling to confirm that you still are able to have the meeting with Mr King I presume?"
"Of course! How can I not with the famous Mr King?! It's my pleasure to be even working with him"
I give a soft chuckle as I agree with him, buttering him up before ending the call,
"Well I hope to hear good news in the upcoming weeks! I hope the meeting goes well with Mr King. I'll be sure that the meeting is as scheduled when it was first booked"
I cut the call and make a note on a blank page of my notebook. I put the pen lid back where it belonged before I turn to the side and stand, stretching my hands above my head. I let out a heavy sigh- something that I've been doing for the past month or less.
I leave my room as I give a small smile to Daisy who looked up from her screen. I walk towards Noah's door before moving around so that my back was touching the cold wood. I stare a little longer at Daisy, making her give a weird look.

I smile as I let my mind wonder. Ever since I took step on this floor, she always had a smile on her face. She was professional at her best and when she wanted, she could be the cheekiest person I ever knew. She was someone who I know I would hold dearly. She coughs as she speaks,
"What's wrong Lil?"
I shake my head before I walk up to her,
"Nothing Dais, I was just admiring you for who you are"
She gives me this look that said that I was crazy for what I said and it made me chuckle,
"Why are you talking like that? Has something happened to you?"
I shake my head as I crouch down, placing my arms on her desk. I rest my chin on hands as I speak,
"No, I just feel like you need to be acknowledged. You're always here with a smile on your face. You're never fazed out by anything or anyone, especially Mr King"
She types something on her keyboards as she speaks in soft manner,
"You don't need to say all this you know"
I close my eyes as I nod,
"I know and you know you're amazing. I know you are. Tan knows you are. Heck Mr King does too! He's just too stuck up to say it to you. If you were absent for a day or two just know that he'd be begging you to come back"
She laughs heartily at my words, her head tipping backwards as a hand was placed on her stomach. She composes herself not long before her eyes looked like they were stars. Her eyes wondered behind me for a split second before meeting my brown ones.
She whispered loud enough for me to hear. Her words were so quiet and cautious like she was fearing for the unexpected,
"I could say the same about you"
Almost instantly my mood changes a little as I mumble out,
"I doubt it"
She gives me this look that screamed that I was stupid for thinking so,
"Are you crazy?! Lily ever since you stepped onto this floor, Mr King has completely changed. You just don't know"
I tilt my head a little, intrigued from her point of view,
"I'm all ears Dais"
She chuckles as she gives me her full attention,
"Lily I've ever seen a drastic change in Mr King in forever. It was always either Luke or Ed who tried to get on his nerves. Sometimes it would work and others it wouldn't. If I'm being honest, this is the first time I've ever seen Mr King take a liking in someone so possessively"
My heart hammered at her words,
"They day you walked into his room looking like a mess with twigs and branches in your hair I knew that it was all Luke's doing and in that time, I was all for it. For as long as I can remember, Mr King was someone without emotion or reason,"

My mouth opens a little at her words,
"I don't know Mr King like now Ed or Luke know him but I do know that you have sparked that competition and fire back in him, it's like you brought him back to life. He may not notice but I have caught him smile here and there, and I know it's because of you Lily"
I smile at her words. I suck in a deep breath as I stand,
"I think we should put a pause to this topic don't you? The last thing I need is tissues from your words"
She shakes her head before she places her fingers on her keyboard, ready to go back to work,
"Hey you were the one who brought it up first"
"True, but I had the urge to address it because on this floor I doubt no-one wold any time soon"
She simply shakes her head before questioning,
"What are you doing anyways outside of your office? Coffee?"
I shake my head as I answer,
"I just need to tell Mr King that the restaurant meeting that he has with Mr Pete is still on board. He is in his office right? I don't want to walk into an empty office"
She only shrugs before showing me her index and middle finger crossed. I sigh before turning around to face his door. I stare in front of me as I bite my lower lip as my stomach did tumble turns. I must've stayed standing for a minute or two because Daisy speaks,
"Don't worry Lil. You got this"
"I hope so"
I whisper. I take in a deep breath before I place a hand on the handle. I use my other hand and knock twice. There was a silence before I heard a quiet grunt. I pouted before I pushed the handle down.
I pushed the door open a little and slipped in. I had my back facing him as I closed the door slowly. I froze for a second as my baby hairs rose on the back of my neck and my body became stiff.
I suddenly didn't want to be in the room anymore and I couldn't even do anything about it anymore. I suck in my lower lip before I turn on my heels ever so slowly, dread consuming me whole.
Once I was fully facing ahead my face dropped, my heart blended into mush. My hand fell from the door handle and now stuck to my sides. The scene in front of me - something that I was not expecting; not even once. Stephanie straddling Noah on the sofa.
I didn't know what to do or what to say. I was so taken back that I merely stood just taking them in. They obviously didn't notice my presence in the room so they continued making out... in front of me.
My heart hammered so loud that all I wanted was to just leave. I wanted to run away from this scene and moment. I begged, wished, that it was just a nightmare. I took a step back, my back touching the wood, the back of my heels clashed with the wood, making them look at me,
Stephanie pulled back and faced me, an annoyed look plastered on her face. I caught Noah's eyes as they widened slightly before it was completely erase; going back to the cold, hard and emotionless look he had for the past month.
He had this look on his face that was a mix between guilt and annoyance. He spoke, his tone harsh,
"You must have got a good reason for coming in when I clearly said I'm busy"
I was too stunned to even say something. Stephanie combed her blonde hair with her red manicured nails before she got off, her hands purposefully running up and down Noah's arm. She spoke somewhat confidently in a whiny voice,
"Babe, I'll be back later okay?"
Noah only gave a stiff nod. Taking that as a cue to leave, she spun around making me see her full attire. She wore blue skinny ripped jeans with a baby pink crop top that failed to even cover her under-boob that was peaking out.
She had a smirk plastered on her face as she walked towards me. Her eyes held mischief and humour. I already knew she was going to play with me. She was going to say something that I wasn't going to like. She stood in front of me as she placed a hand on her hip,
"Well? Are you not going to move?"
On instinct I took a step to the side as I tried not to look at her crayon filled face. She took a step forward before she leaned in towards me, her lips inches away from my ear as she whispered wickedly,
"It's a shame really. He plays with your feeling and has you in bed for a day. Next thing you know, you're trash. Don't think you're special sweetie, it's always like this with all his PA's. You're just an addition"
Her warm breath fans my ear and I catch Noah's eyes as he stared at me deeply in silence, not even calling Stephanie away from me,
"Noah will always come back to me and you wanna know why?"
She pulled back a little making me look down at her. Her eyes sparkled. The type of sparkle that rang a warning bell in my head. The next words that left her lips only made me shiver in response,
"I was his first love"

War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost. A slow-burn story that takes time setting up the psychology and motivations of characters for explosive payoff later down the line.
