[One Month Later]
"Please tell me, for the love of this role, can't I take a little break? You know like disappear and then... poof... I magically reappear again. He won't even realise it and besides, it's not like I'm not going to be working here for years wait... how long have you worked here?"
"Seven years,"
A loud gasp leaves my mouth,
"Seven YEARS! Seven... h... how the hell do you expect me to work like this for seven years?! No no no, where's that erase button at? Someone find me that button,"
Daisy drops her shoulders and gives me a blank look,
"Come on, can't we live a little? I'm only twenty-two,"
I lean forward on her desk, fluttering my eyes as I ask,
"Tell you what, why don't we go hit the club tonight hmm?"
"I don't think that would work out..."
Daisy trails off. She looked up making me stand straight, not giving up,
"Come Dais, we can go after work. Let's leave early and make ways to mine. We can grab Tanya too. I'll give you both dresses so we're not wasting time,"
A sigh leaves her mouth as she refused once more. She doesn't say anything and gives her attention to her computer screen, getting back to work. I bite my lip hard, my mind buzzing on how to find the right excuses for her to join.
To be frank, I needed a break from work. The month that flew had been plain torture. It was work on top of work and to make it more worthwhile, it was sprinkled with more work. Luckily since the incident of fainting, I didn't have to stay back, talk about bonus!
I look around her desk, seeing Noah's timetable that she was going to pass over to me. I reach for it, holding it in my hand. If there was one thing that I came to know was that Noah always came to work at nine.
When the elevator doors opened, it revealed Noah in his clean pressed suit, a Rolex on his wrist. It was given that since he was CEO, he was never a minute late. As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he would greet us both before entering his room, all ready for work.
Once Noah had entered his room, I would run around like a mad woman getting his schedule ready. Then I would enter his room and give a brief outline of his day and upcoming events and meetings. It's literally never-ending.
It was clear as daylight that my mind was fried heavily needing an escape so, an escape is something that I would be definitely getting.
"I'll let Tanya know about our get together,"
Her fingers hesitate above the keyboard, her eyes giving me a small look of waver. A wide smile plastered on my face knowing that I won. I fist bump the air, jumping a little in success. I turn on my heels leaving her as I speak happily,
"You can't back out now! Tan will come along! We'll leave work together!"
As I leave the hallway and enter my office the telephone at my desk rings. I rush over quickly picking up the call,
"Mr Kings' assistant speaking how may I help?"
There was a slight pause before a raspy voice answered,
"I need you to come over now with the shareholders file I gave you yesterday,"
I let out an involuntary shiver. Even though I've been working for Noah over the last month, I still haven't had the chance for my head to get around it. Every time he looked at me my stomach did something.

He was something that I couldn't deny even if I wanted to, no matter how hard I tried. I let out a breath, speaking confidently,
"Right away,"
He gives no response and I take this opportunity to hang up the call. I move around the desk, going through the endless files that I had trying to find the right one I needed. I leave my office, not wasting another second.
Upon my presence Daisy looks up, watching me as I made ways his door. I take a deep breath, knocking on the door. I wait for a minute or two before I hear a 'come in' I open the door and glance at him, he was speaking to someone who had their back facing me.
At my presence the man spins on his chair looking at me from head to toe. I don't have to look at Noah to know that he was doing the same and before I knew it, I ended up doing the same. Nothing more simple than wearing beige fitted bottoms and a short-sleeved loose black top.
I bite my lip before lifting my gaze back to both men, closing the door behind me. I walk towards them, flashing the unknown man a smile. I move to meet eyes with Noah, giving him my attention,
"Here's the file that you requested. Is there anything else that you would like me to do?"
Just as Noah opens his mouth, the visitor speak, beating him to it,
"Hello darling, what's your name?"
I tear my gaze from Noah and give the man my attention,
"Lily. Pleasure to meet you,"
The man relaxes on his chair, nodding. He stares at me with his black eyes. I find myself doing the same, the black almost drawing me in. He stands up, pushing his chair back. I shake from the suddenness and end up taking a step back. Like a gentleman, he extends his hand and speaks,
"Ed Evans. This idiots college friend,"
He points with his other hand at Noah. I stare at his extend hand and take a step forward again, this time extending my own to shake his hand. I meet his black eyes to see his smile never leave his lips, eyes wrinkled a little from doing so.
Out of the blue he uses his strength to pull me. I slam into his body, his arms wrapped around my shoulders hugging me. The movement was so unpredictable that I gasped loudly making Noah stand, his chair skidding backwards.
Ed then pulls away, his hands still placed on my shoulders. He still had a smile on his face. I give him a nervous chuckle, watching him as he then tilted his head tot he side with admiration,
"You're very pretty Lily, say are you still single?"
His question throws me off guard as I find myself looking down at my shoes with embarrassment. I turn my head in Noah's direction seeing him already throw daggers at Ed's hands that were still on my shoulders.
He doesn't move until he feels my stare on him. He met my eyes making my half paralysed. I let out an awkward cough, stepping back so that he was no longer touching me. Ed waits for my response but I don't give one, instead I smile shyly and rub my neck. Ed finally speaks,
"Dude I never knew that she could change you. The Noah King. If you haven't made a move, I won't hesitate. I'm telling you know, she's a keeper,"

I was pretty sure that my face was the colour of beetroot from his choice of words and for some odd reason, I could already feel Noah's anger rise. I look from the the corner of my eye, seeing his fists balled tightly. He speaks straight to the point,
"Can you leave my assistant alone? Just go already. We're done speaking,"
"We're still going tonight right? Luke said he's joining. It'll be nice if we all got together like old times,"
Daring a little, I look at Noah seeing him comb a hand through his hair, oh how I wish it was me doing so. My eyes widen a little at the thought alone. I look away and shake my head discreetly,
"No promises. I've still got loads of work to do unlike you who just turns things into a mess,"
A gasp leaves Ed's mouth as he holds a hand to his chest in a dramatic manner,
"I do not! Take that back!"
Noah pinches the bridge of his nose, deep sigh leaving his mouth,
"Just go, before I loose my patience,"
As if Ed had a whole three-sixty personality change, a deep chuckle resonated from his mouth. He placed both hands on the table, as if he was testing Noah,
"You know that despite making a few mistakes, you know what I'm capable of man. If you want to help ease the tension with whatever you're going through I can help. I can be your personal guru,"
He tilts his head back, a smirk plastered on his face. I watch him, seeing how he got away with it all,
"... oh a little heads up, I keep tabs on you from Luke. You can't get away with anything from me even if you run across the globe,"
A groan leaves his mouth as falls back on his chair without struggle,
"He's an even bigger idiot. Where's my stapler when I need it?"
He spoke rhetorically, eyes skimming around the table. I could tell that he was joking but there was a hint of seriousness behind it. A female like squeal leaves Ed's mouth as he no longer leaned forward in a competitive manner but rather now running towards the door.
He didn't look back to see if Noah had grabbed the stapler that he was talking about. He opened the door, looking over his shoulder. We locked eyes,
"See you around Lily, it was a pleasure meeting you,"
He bid my goodbye and just like that, he left the room without giving another look. To his back, I give a confused look before finally looking at Noah. It was no shocker that he was already looking at me.
Not knowing how to respond, I shuffle forward taking a seat where Ed once sat,
"Interesting friend you got there,"
"I never said anything about sitting down,"
He spoke quickly,
"What ever happened to the manners dolphin? Anyway that's not the point, the point is can me Daisy and Tanya leave early today?"
He raises an eyebrow in question,
"Why on earth would I let three staff leave early on a Friday?"
I blink as I try to think,
"Cause you... er... cherish us because we're... you're er..."
I click my fingers together, a light bulb shining on top of my head,
"Personal favs,"
He didn't even waste a second to give a curt answer,
"No. There's a whole load of work left to do. One minute less and we'll fall down on the stock and profit,"
My face falls as I question,
"Come on seriously? Live a little,"
He rolls his eyes and eventually turns his body to face the computer screen like how Daisy had,
"There is no time for 'living a little' kitten, please get back to work. Do not make me repeat myself,"
I find myself pouting a little as I stare at the ceiling above his presence. I felt a bit rebellious so I spoke confidently,
"I will leave with them two. You know I get all the work done and so does Daisy. I've been working like a manic ever since I became your personal assistant and you know it yourself. You don't even slow down, instead, you pile up more,"
I fall back on the chair, throwing a tiny fit,
" It's like you want me to live here and work my arse off until I retire or something,"
"Miss Cole, may I need to remind you that this place is a company. A well-known one as well. There are many responsibilities to keep it at that standard and I will not fall back just because you want to leave early,"
His black pupils became double its size as he stated,
"I know for sure that my father did not give me his company just so I can 'live a little' like you said,"
His eyes bore into mine. Now that I was in front of him as we speak, I take a closer look at him. His eyes were filled with tiredness and lacked life. His stubble had grown thicker, shoulders slightly slouched.
The sight of him right now alone made me pout, my heart yearning to make all the tiredness go away. I speak softly,
"Dolphin, out in the jungle even the mighty lion needs rest. Don't stress yourself out too much. You didn't build this company by yourself, you had help from people along the way,"
We both held our eyes as I continued. I saw how his eyes softened at my words,
"You as a person deserve to live a little, even if its for a minute or two. Have a date, get drunk for one night, do something stupid. You only get to live once. Don't waste it all on work and being sat behind a desk. You'll regret it one day,"
I think I hit a sore spot because he looked away first, staring at the skyscrapers out the window. It was a clear indication that he refused to look at me. I lean forward, my hands shoved under my thighs; tilting my head as I say,
"Hey you didn't get angry when I called you dolphin,"
He looks at me, his emerald eyes sparkling back to life a bit. The softness that he had in his eyes melted away and was replaced with stern look. His only response was,
"Go work on the annual report. It won't get done on its own,"
I let out an audible sigh before puffing my cheeks out, giving a single nod. I give him one last look, making sure to keep the eye-contact,
"Very well, I tried... but remember what I said. You look stressed like there's something bothering you... I don't know what Ed said before but go for it. I bet it'll be worth it,"
Not wasting another second, I stand making ways to leave his office. Once I've stepped outside I come to see Daisy look at me with a questioning face,
"What happened?"
I give a small smile and respond,
"The annual report is what happened BUT we're still hitting the club. There is no way in hell I'm missing out on a good drink or two. I'll be back at five for you,"
I give a wink before wriggling my eyes. I do some random ugly dance moves making Daisy pull faces. In the end, she gives up and just like Tanya she smiles showing me her faint dimples.
I continue dancing, this time making ways to my office. In front of my door, I flash her a peace sign before I say,
"Work or not Dais, I'm definitely going to unfry my brain,"
"... Dolphin, out in the jungle even the mighty lion needs rest..."
Her words spoke in my mind. Something twitched in my heart, her calling me dolphin sure did something to me and I didn't know if I liked it or not. She was the only person who didn't blatantly throw herself at me like every woman I had been with. She was different.
Having her work for a month did make me realise something; I wanted her all to myself. When Ed was bluntly flirting with her I just wanted to rip him to shreds. I don't know what it was but it was clear that I had possessiveness when it came to her.
There was something that drew me to her... something that no other female had... and why the hell was it that her words were always so persuasive? It honestly stressed me to the max. Feeling restless as ever I grab the closest pen, throwing it at the wall in frustration.
I rocked back and forth on the chair, her words once again repeating in my head. With a biting lip, I end up pressing the button that connected me to Daisy. For a second my head throbbed as she invaded my mind for the millionth time already,
"Yes Mr King, what may I help you with?"
"Come to my office please,"
"Coming,"
It didn't a minute for her to come over and knock. I allow her in. Once the door closed behind her she walked up to the desk. I looked up to her and questioned,
"Do I have any meetings for today?"
She looked at her notebook and shook her head,
"No sir. You have a quick briefing with Luke on when to hold the next board meeting. Other than that you're free,"
I nod in appreciation. I then let out a single sigh making her look at me. I meet her eyes and give her a mall smile,
"Clear my timetable. Since Ed's still floating around the company like a loser, tell him that I'm up for tonight, oh and tell Luke too since he knows what I'm talking about. In terms of that briefing, reschedule it for tomorrow or the day after. It's a quick brief anyway,"
She nods,
"Okay,"
She makes a quick note before closing her notebook. She then turns to leave, reaching the door. She held onto the door handle before I called out, grabbing her attention,
"Also,"
She looks over her shoulder with a kind smile,
"Miss Cole asked if you, her and Miss Stone could leave early,"
There was confusion written on her face as she stumbled around fully facing me,
"You can all leave at three. I hope you all enjoy your Friday evening,"
Her mouth falls open as she gawps at me now stuttering,
"Y-yes Mr King. Thank you,"
I flash her a small in return now looking back at my computer,
typing on a spreadsheet that I had open. I hear the door close quietly and I hesitate to look back up, seeing her no longer present in the room. I slouch on the chair, hands falling on my lap as my beck touches the back of the headrest.
I stare at the ceiling and close my eyes. I swallow the lump that I had in my throat as she reappeared again in my head. She was smiling wide next to me, our hands entwined. My eyes open, my neck completely parched making the words leave my lips raspily,
"What the hell are you doing to me Lily..."
