The dreaded two weeks finally came to an end and to my number of unfortunate lucks, I just happened to fall sick. I sniffled grabbing a clean tissue, wiping my nose. As the seconds passed my eyes felt heavy.

It had been three days since I fell ill and I knew that on the third day it would take a toll on me. I knew that it was unpreventable so I do the only thing that I could do; consume over-the-counter medication.

Instead of laying in bed sleeping away the illness I was here, at work, with a box of tissue under my arm.

During the last two weeks, work was never ending. It was file after file. Paper after paper. I had stayed after work hours nearly every day just to finish it all off. It was the same repeat of research... type... edit. It honestly never ended.

It didn't help that the fact that although it was nice and warm during the day, the cold came crashing down late at night. The temperature dropped low which didn't play in my favour,

"Hey sugarplum... are you okay?"

I look up seeing Luke stood beside me. I give him a weak smile and nod, my words hoarse,

"I'm fine, just feeling a little under the sun but don't worry I'm done with it all anyway,"

Luke gives me a worried look but nods regardless. He placed a hand on top of the pile of files that were completed and moved around so that he began to carry some in his hands. Noticing what he was trying to do, I stop him, placing a firm grip on the top.

He gives me a look. I simply shake my head, wanting him not to touch or mess them up. I licked my cracked lips and say,

"Don't, it's okay I've got it,"

He shook his head in protest,

"Lily I'll give it to him. You should go home and rest. You've overworked yourself over the last two weeks,"

He said firmly as he tried to brush my hand away, resuming to hold more files. Stubborn as I was, I shake my head firmly, this time placing the files back on the stack. I give him and and speak, trying to sound confident,

"No. I'll take it to him. He threw the work onto me. The least I could do is give it to him so show that I won't waver,"

He let's out a defeated sigh, retrieving his hand. He straightens up and pushes his hair back,

"Fine, alright but if you feel faint, lightheaded or like you're gonna vomit or dizzy or really sleepy head home. home. Don't bother coming back up here okay? Let Tan know on your way out. If you're not back by lunch I'll take it that you've gone home. Okay?"

He spoke in a small rant. His tone was different from his normal playful voice and it made me smile weakly but at the same time make my energy deflating slowly. He defiantly had father vibes for sure. A weak chuckle leaves my mouth as I smile lazily,

"Okay dad,"

I say in a child-like manner, my hands up in surrender. I move to stand, blinking away the faint stars which invaded my sight. A tired sigh leaves my mouth as I move pick up the files in my hold. I walk to the elevator and wait for the doors to open. I turn, catching Luke enter his office

"Is he upstairs?"

I question, the words leaving my lips like I was gradually loosing my voice. He turns around fully, giving my a disapproving look before releasing a heavy sigh,

"Lily you literally look like your about to faint. Just let me take it and you go ho-"

"Luke I said I'm fine,"

I cut him off. He mutters under his breath, giving up by muttering under his breath and giving a curt nod shortly afterwards,

"Women and their I'm fines,"

I give a real genuine weak smile before turning around at the sound of the door opening Stepping inside, I balance the files on one hand as I use my other to comb my hair back quickly. The doors closed, my finger pressing the button to head for the 30th floor.

The silence around me was peaceful. It calmed my mind. I closed my eyes trying to find peace for even a second and it didn't take long due to the doors opening. I release a defeated sigh, mustering the little energy I had to leave the four boxed place.

My eyes roam around the floor until I see Daisy. She gives me a smile before it flattened; her worried but soothing eyes capturing my whole body and face. I walk up to her desk with caution, her words leaving her lips like a quiet whisper,

"Hey you look beautiful in that outfit,"

I give her a smile as I rack through my brain trying to remember what I wore without moving the files. In the end I give up as it made my head hurt,

"Remind me again? My minds been wondering these past couple of hours,"

She gives me a look before answering anyways,

"White loose sweater, dark green mid-thigh checked skirt with..."

She leans on her stomach looking over her desk as she finished off her sentence,

"White pumps..."

She hesitates before continuing,

"But aside from you looking flawless are you feeling well? You look pale- and when I say pale I mean sickly pale pale,"

"I'm..."

I start to say as I readjust the files in my arms,

"... fine. I just came up to give Mr King the files he made me work on,"

She nods not asking anymore questions and I was grateful for it as my head now began to pound,

"Mr King isn't in his office at the moment. He went to step outside for something. He should be back in a couple minutes or so,"

She says as she looks at her clock that was placed on her desk. My lips part, my breathing now becoming short and heavy. I closed my eyes for a second as a wave of tiredness washed by. I felt my body rock on its own accord and on reflex I take a small step back, my actions noticed.

Daisy made sure to keep her eyes on me and once she caught me taking a step out of the blue with half-closed and half-open eyes, she stood abruptly,

"Lil!"

She exclaims, making me feel awake but the haze still evident,

"Don't worry Dais... I'll just... I'll just leave them on his desk. Let him know that I've left them there please,"

"Are you s-"

"I am. Don't worry and before you parent me like Luke. I'll just do this and go home okay? This will be the last thing I do,"

She falls back on her chair and nods once, never looking away from me,

"Stop looking like I'm on the verge dying. I'll be fine and home before both you and Luke know it,"

I step away from her desk, beginning to walk towards his office without anymore issues. I open the door successfully coming to see the room clean apart from the desk where papers were scattered around his desk and on the floor.

A sigh leaves my mouth as I shake my head. I walk towards his desk so that I was on his side of the table. I place the files in a clear space. Tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, I began to pick up the pieces of paper from the floor.

I pause for a second, my head spinning again. Once the dizziness faded I grouped the papers correctly with the pieces from the table, placing them neatly beside the files that I brought in.

Last but not least, I cleaned up the stationary; throwing crunched up paper into the bin that was placed by the sofa. Once I was satisfied, I took a step back, looking at the now clean work area. I wipe away a cold sweat which broke out on my forehead, now finally getting ready to leave.

I walk halfway across the room when I hesitate, my world spinning that resulted me to shut my eyes. I scrunch my eyes tightly this time allowing a wave of pain to coarse through my body. My hands reach out to grab onto something for support but felt nothing.

It takes a couple of seconds to regain back my balance and when I do, I open my eyes to see everything a blur. I came to see the sofa and door double. The bin that was by the sofa double too. I shake my head, trying to get rid of the double images.

It took a couple of minutes to stop seeing double and once it had stopped, I continued leaving like it was no problem. Once I leave his room, Daisy looks up questioning,

"You've been in there for a while... you sure you're fine?"

I nod, unable to say the words. Instead of conversing I make ways towards the elevator. I press the button closing my eyes as a other wave of a dizziness takes over. Almost instantly the doors open making me take a step inside. I turn until I'm facing Daisy. She still kept her eyes on me,

"Don't worry Dais, I'm heading home now. Can you let Luke know for me?"

I catch her nod as the doors began to close. Once it closed fully, I looked down at my watch seeing the time as one pm. I let out a puff of air, pressing the button to go down the ground floor. I rub my forehead as pain ran through making me loose my balance for the third time already.

I keep my eyes closed, trying it as a way to get rid of the aching pain but it made it worse. I threw my head back and opened my eyes, now coming to see the ceiling, feeling a little flustered now. The elevator pinged, indicating that someone wanted to come in.

Bringing my head down, I look straight ahead. The doors open and I meet eyes with the last person who I thought I'd bump into. Noah. My body freezes at the sight of him. He blinks a few times also before adjusting his tie.

As he walks in, I take in his stance seeing his top button undone, lips swollen a little. Feeling lightheaded, I move to the side; one hand on the railing as I look down at my flats. His sandalwood scent filled the air between us making me close my eyes.

I tried everything I could to stop the dizziness from overtaking me but it was impossible, all I wanted right now was sleep. Nothing else. From the side, he muttered something under his breath but I couldn't pick it up on due to everything sounding distant.

He stands away a little but close enough so that I could smell his cologne as it invaded my nose. I close my eyes, my breathing shallow until I find myself loosing balance even whilst holding onto the railing.

Again, on reflex, my other hand holds onto the railing tighter as my legs give way. A quiet gasp leaves my mouth as I look over my shoulder since I had my back facing him now. I catch him with a look of concern.

He walks over to me and helps me face him fully. He placed his hands on my hips, guiding me with care. Unlike previous times, his touch now sent tingles right down to my toes. His eyes soften as he looks at my face, the words that leave his lips sounding low and soothing almost,

"Are you okay Ms Cole?"

He leans back allowing me to cough. Once I'm done, I stand straighter, this time him taking a step back away from me. He removes his touch from my skin. The feeling from that alone made my shiver, not from the tingles but from the cold.

It felt as if instantly someone had placed ice all over my body. Still having a hold on the railing, I wait as seconds ticked by. My eyes move from one end of the wall to the other. My heartbeat loud as it rang in my ears replacing all noise.

I part my lips, my breathing now at a quicker pace but to my ears, merely muffled. My vision changed between blurry and clear and in the end I focus on the elevator doors, and in the end, even that was blurry.

Before I knew it, I found myself speaking in a hushed voice as my eyes gradually felt heavy every time I blinked,

"Hey dolphin... is it me or is it cold in here?"

I could feel his eyes on me so I turn to look at him. He had his full attention on me,

"Kitten?"

For some odd reason his voice also sounded distant. I let go of the railing, my body quick to hover on the spot. I blink away the blurriness, trying to focus on him and when I do I see his left hand was tucked in his trouser pocket, the other holding his phone.

I blink a couple times before my voice breaks weakly, a broken chuckle leaving my lips afterwards. My eyes roll back into their sockets as I closed my eyes. My head rolls back, feeling heavy. My lips part open as I try to speak successfully... I was almost able to get the words out,

"Hey... I think... I think I'm gonna... faint,"
