《The CEO's Safe Haven [EDITING SOON!]》5. Fury

Red. Everything that I was able to see was portrayed in red. The black sleek building was now a deep dark red, the glass doors also red... and so was Luke. He was the reason of it all. The reason for my sufferings. The reason for me seeing red.

I grit my teeth as I marched my way inside the company. I push the doors open with force, grabbing Tanya's attention. I notice that she was taken back, I didn't want to be angry but Luke pushed all my buttons. This anger wasn't going anywhere until I throw a tantrum at him,

"Where the fuck is Luke?"

I demand as soon as I'm stood in front of her. Her fingers stop typing as she looks my way. Her eyes shifting uneasily between me and her computer. Thank god she hadn't asked what happened because frankly I didn't know what to answer.

I could still feel the incident from before, slithering it's way back to mind. She replied slowly like she was choosing the correct words to say,

"Erm... er... he's on the 30th fl-"

She tried to finish off her sentence but stops, realising that I'm no longer in front of her but now heading over to the elevator. I was glad that she didn't ask anymore questions about my state or from before. I was fuming, one words about it and I would explode for sure.

I release all my anger on the button. Waiting impatiently for the doors to open. The doors open and I was grateful that it was empty. Stepping inside, the doors close straight after. Now that I was alone I let out a breath, the anger dying down a little.

I press the number thirty, allowing the elevator to move upwards. My hand rests on my hip and I close my eyes, taking in a deep breath. I tried not to angry but it was the only thing in mind.

I tilt my head back trying my hardest to forget what happened but let's be real, it won't be leaving any time soon. I bring my head back to level and reopen my eyes, coming in view to see myself on the reflection of the elevator doors; and honestly...

What the actual fuck happened to me?

My mouth drops open upon seeing my now unprofessional state. The top two button of my pastel purple blouse was undone. One of which no longer attached. My black skinny jeans had marks of god knows what and my hair...

My hair was now a clear definition of a birds nest as strands of hair poked out from all directions from my messy bun. I swear I could see a few leaves stuck inside. I reach my hand out, ready to pull them out but the doors began to open, revealing a white large and spacious opening.

Two doors were moulded at the end of the room. Halfway down the room, a female receptionist was sat behind her desk unaware of my presence. She looked no older than being in her late 20's. She had deep red hair and blue eyes.

I step out the elevator, my heels grabbing her attention. She gives a smile before her eyes take in my appearance. Her matching red lips part ever so slightly, clearly not expecting a stressed out me. Upon seeing her, my anger fades down a little.

I smile brightly, returning her smile. I walk up her desk. She turned her body to face me, giving me her full attention. As I approached her, I caught her name, imprinted on a glass stand. She was about to speak but I beat her to it,

"Hi Daisy,"

In my head, I had a perfectly coherent sentence but as the words leave my lips, it only ended up being ramble. I wave my hands in the air, trying - key word trying - to defend myself,

"Look, in your head you may think that I'm crazy from the way I look right now but I trust me, I'm not crazy I've just... I've just been through a lot because of someone,"

The anger was low like the tide. My emotions and behaviour all muddled up. She raises her hands also in surrender as she speaks trying not to bend over in laughter,

"Don't worry about it. I won't even ask, but if I were you, I hope that the person who made you like this is in a corner for survival. I'd literally turn the company upside down if I have to,"

I raise an eyebrow as I comment,

"Girl, trust me if I could I literally would,"

My sentence was the tip of the ice-burg. She tipped her head back, a hand covering her mouth, she laughed to her hearts content. It didn't bother me, if I saw someone in my state, I'd laugh as soon as I them. God knows how she was able to keep her laughter until this point.

I fist a hand under my chin, nodding knowing that my life was going downhill. I give her a few more seconds to compose herself. She wiped her eye jokingly as she asked,

"So what brings you up here?"

"Have you seen that stubborn brain-dead waffle maker?"

Her smile falls as her eyes looks behind me in caution. Her words only come out in a stutter,

"W-who?"

I give her a confused look as I reply, my answer coming out in a question itself,

"Um Luke?"

I would never expect Daisy to be so uptight around here. She relaxed, a deep and heavy sigh leaving her lips. I watch her carefully, taking note. Even for someone in their late 20's, I didn't miss the hidden fear in her eyes.

She sits straighter and points to the door on the right. I turn my head staring at it. I face her and give her a sweet smile. Finally, I spin on my heels, talking to her as I walked away from her desk,

"I really hope we get along. You seem like an amazing person to be around... maybe we can he friends?"

I ask with hope, my head looking over my shoulder. I catch her cross her arms on the desk, she smiles wide and nods,

"I don't see why not. I mean it would be nice to have a friend around here,"

I spin, facing her again. I click my fingers in agreement. I then cheer whilst I continue to walk backwards,

"Yes!"

I was about halfway across the floor when I heard Luke's voice ring,

"Mate, listen to me just once and trust me. I know what I'm doing,"

Like turning on a light, I loose my smile. I remembered why I was here in the first place. I don't waste any more time and take long strides until I'm stood in front the door. My breathing suddenly quick and fast.

I shake my head feeling the anger bubble up. My hand grasps tightly onto the cold handle, pushing it down in the silence. Luke's voice drowns down and I use this chance to open the door fully. I come face-to-face with Luke right in front of me, resting lazily on a desk behind him.

Every colour known to man had changed to red around Luke. He was the only thing coloured in. I was the bull and he was my target. He had a curious look on his face before it fell into shock. He stands up, mouth hung open. I lift my index finger pointing it directly at him,

"You!"

I seethed as I marched into the room,

"What the hell happened to you?"

He spoke with a hint of shock and fear. I squint my eyes, my mind playing with me as I thought I saw the end of lips raise in a hidden smirk. If only I could smack it off him right now. I scoffed,

"What happened? What happened? Oh I'll tell you what happened you stupid brain-dead ugly toaster,"

My choice of insult threw him off. He defensively wrapped his arms around his chest. I speak once more, taking calculative steps towards him,

"There is literally something wrong with you. Did you fall on your head countless times when you were a baby?"

He pokes his tongue on the inside of his mouth, waiting without a saying a word,

"Today has been the worst day of my life. I leave this place for one job that you gave only for it to turn upside down. One job. One fucking job that leaves me embarrassed to the point where I can't look at someone without having constant murmurs whispering of what happened,"

I poke his chest still continuing without a breath,

"... because of you, I left this building in decent clothes and came back as if I've been through a bloody war zone! Just look at the fucking state of me! And as if it wasn't bad enough because of you, your stupid little mind and your 'oh so' important reports..."

I spoke taking a small break. I shove my hand in my bag, pulling out crumpled pieces of paper. The adrenaline was at a max, I could feel it in my blood. I take everything out and throw it square at his chest,

"... your goddamn fucking reports are not due anytime soon. You have two bloody weeks to hand them in. Two weeks you hear me?! So thank you for wasting my time and image when I could have finished the report for someone who's fucking higher than you in this damn place!"

I exclaimed, my chest rising up and down fast. I catch Daisy's red hair come into scene. She runs in-between us, bends down and picks up the papers. I call her name making her pause,

"Daisy what the hell are you doing?"

"Picking these up,"

She answered as she picked up the last piece of paper. She stood up and handed them back to me. I look at her in bewilderment and spoke,

"Why would you clean up someone's else's mess? Or even be here? The person who made the mess should be cleaning it up, not you,"

I said as I take the papers from her. I look at Luke seeing him smile as if it was just a joke. I grit my teeth once more, pointing a finger at him as I speak,

"If only I could smack that smile off your face you inconsiderate so called manager,"

I took a step back my lips pressed in a firm straight line. I raise the papers in the air, releasing them. I watch them now fall everywhere around us three. Daisy tugs on my wrist and pleads,

"Come on, stop making a mess please?"

I shook her off, my eyes never leaving Luke as he stood there unaffected from my words and actions. He leaned back on the desk and my shoulders slouch, finally admitting defeat,

"This is all your fault, why can't I just stay where I was assigned to huh? Ever since that day you've done everything you could to make me crack and you finally have. Well done,"

I say in a whisper at the end of my rant. Luke turns his head away before shortly looking back at me with a lazy smile playing on his lips. My words all went to vain. The anger rose back. I close my eyes, my hands balled into fists as I seethed out,

"You best have someone to hold me back if you smirk or smile once more,"

A rabid dog could abide better than a human being. It took only a second for him to look around the room pouting, his eyes skimming everything around me. He nods once before showing me his white set of teeth.

I took one step forward, Daisy quick on my trail. She wrapped her arms around my stomach, trapping my arms against my sides; holding me back. I struggled for a second as I then cried out,

"Let me go Daisy! Let me smack that smile off his fa-"

"Daisy,"

A deep raspy voice stopped me from my outburst,

"Let her go and return back to work,"

My face snaps to the left seeing the same guy from earlier sitting at the end of the room on a white couch. Vivid flashback played in my mind as my eyes devour him. The black blazer that he wore earlier was no longer hugging his built arms but now resting on the side beside him.

His white shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, exposing his veins perfectly. I swallowed down the dryness. Without him touching me, I could feel my body burn. Next thing you know, the words fly out of my mouth before I could comprehend them,

"Who the hell are you and how long have you been there?"

I say tilting my head the slightest, my attention now focused on him. He raised his right sculptured eyebrow at me. He proceeded to place a hand on his knee, leaning forward to put the glass of wine on the tea-table in front of him.

He pushed himself up, walking to us. My eyes somehow trail down to his toned thighs as they flexed with each step he took, oblivious to the fact that he was making ways that was more specially aimed at me.

My breath hitched as he continued walking, my eyes no longer taking in his body but now locking eyes with him. I instantly became mesmerised and lost in a pool of emerald. Neither of us blinked, it was we were having our own inner battle. Again.

He stopped right in front of me, his shoes touching mine. Almost instantly, I'm hit with his sandalwood and fresh aftershave scent. I blink first, feeling overwhelmed. I stumbled backwards, creating a little distance. Suddenly not liking the situation whatsoever.

I watched him tilt his head a little, the same curiosity from before plastered on his face. His emerald eyes held life made me somewhat uneasy. The words that left his lips only held amusement yet if I looked into it more closely; it held, by all means, seriousness,

"Don't you know who I am kitten?"

He teased ever so slightly. He took another step forward making me stumble back in sync,

"Oh my bad, how rude of me!"

Luke interjects happily. He steps closer towards the guy, slinging an arm around his broad shoulder. The man gave out a grunt before he rolled his eyes, hands shoving into his pockets. The action of Luke having his arm around the guy made my gut do tumble turns constantly.

I look away from the unknown man, eyes solely glued on Luke's arm. He said something with a smile on his face but it was all mumble to my ears. It went in one ear and simply came the other. He continued speaking, all going in one ear and coming out the other again.

Luke then looked at the guy but he didn't look back. His lips moved and I couldn't hear a single thing. It was like I had selective hearing when it came to him. There was one thing however that I picked up on. It was powerful, loud and clear.

It was that powerful that it was enough to leave me temporarily paralysed on the spot,

"Lily meet Noah King, my friend and Noah..."

He paused for a millisecond,

"... meet Lily,"
