His emerald eyes hardened fast as seconds ticked by. My heart thumping three times it's normal pace, fearing for the worst that was yet to come. The hold I had around his neck and arm loosened a little, our eyes still locked with each other.

A small amount of fear grew in the pit of my stomach as neither of us backed away from staring, let alone blink. Without grasping the situation fully, the grip I had on him continued to loosen, finding myself slowly slip away from his touch. It was no shocker that his grip was loosening too.

My eyes widen in shock, realisation being six steps behind. It all happened so quick and so effortlessly that even the concept of slow motion itself was put to shame. It was literally one minute being in his arms and the next being the floor.

It was clear in broad daylight that he made no effort to hold me or even save me. How embarrassing.

My next set of reflexes was to support myself. I place the palms of my hand flat on the floor, praying that it was enough to support the sudden weight of myself. The pain rushed through my arms, my face scrunching up in pain. For the third time already, everyone gasped.

Upon hearing them, my eyes look around seeing everyone still shocked. I had forgotten that they were still here. The pain that was thumping under my skin was no longer active, my embarrassment took over like nature. I caught Tanya's reaction, her mouth open in disbelief.

Some staff were already in pairs, hands covering their mouths, their lips moving fast. Their eyes constantly moved between me and their partner that they were whispering to. Embarrassed was not even the right word to describe how I felt this very moment.

I grinded my teeth, staring at the floor in shame like I had stolen the last cookie from the cookie jar. I didn't know who he was but I knew that he had power. I felt my eyes sting, the urge to cry strong but I blinked them away. I wasn't going to break down just yet.

I remembered the man who got told off literally minutes ago and glance up to him, he stared at me in shock. The third man equally looked astounded and taken back at what just happened. The looks on their faces alone made my whole face beetroot red, flushed with embarrassment.

I didn't dare to move a muscle as my eyes land back on the man who dropped me. Since his frame was towering over me, I could clearly tell that his aura was filled with anger, confusion, hatred and curiosity as we lock eyes once more.

Feeling small in his presence, I squirm under his gaze; feeling beyond uncomfortable. It only took a second for him to break eye-contact, now looking around the room. His voice became menacingly low and raspy that filled the awkward silence,

"Since no-one is moving with the fuck they're meant to be doing, I guess everyone is handing in their resignation letter yes?"

Like pressing the button 'play' on a remote control, the remaining staff started moving. Their eyes no longer on us, hands no longer covering their lips. Instead, their feet shuffled out of scene, eyes glued on either the stacks of paper they had in their hands or directly at the floor.

No-one dared to bat an eyelash our way as they left. The only person who was still here was Tanya but that was only because she worked on the ground floor. I noticed from where I was that she too was no longer watching the scene. The man turned on his feet, speaking to them both,

"I'll see you both in the meeting in a couple of days time to finalise everything. Make sure that Joshua is informed on the changes that we made, and for the last fucking time, do not make any mistakes. If I see one, even the slightest,"

He spoke, taking a dangerous step forward which resulting the men to stumble backwards in sync,

"You can hand me your resignation letter to make up for it. Am I clear?"

He growled at the end of his sentence making the men cower in fear as they nod their heads furiously. They, like the others, scurried out of his sight. My eyes bore on their figures as they stood in front of the elevator, pressing the button non-stop until it opened.

Oh how I wish that was me...

I then looked up to the first floor, specifically where Luke once stood, smiling like a goof and that's when my face fell, his words ringing though my ears like a children's song,

'...your jobs on the line,'

Close to getting a whiplash, I look back at the floor seeing papers scattered everywhere but not far off. I bit my lip, swallowing the embarrassment down. I moved so that I was on my knees and began to pick up the papers, without looking at the man who still stood in front of me.

My face gradually turns hot and flushed, feeling his eyes on me. I swear under my breath as I stand, picking up the last paper. Once I was on my feet, I dared not to look his way. I tried to block his presence and walk around him but that went out the window.

He scoffs and takes a step forward, blocking me from leaving me. He places a hand on my arm, making me freeze. As soon as he touched me, it woke me up. His touch alone was able to make my skin burn. Nowhere else, just the part where he held.

My eyes widen, looking up to meet his dazzling emerald ones. I failed trying not to look him in the eye. He inches forward, his face now inches away from mine. He spoke through gritted teeth,

"I'm not done with you,"

My breath hitched in my throat as the words left his lips. I blink a couple of times before I squirmed, trying to get his hand of me. It backfired as he tightened his grip, pulling me closer to him.

I stumbled a few steps forward, closing our distance. The pain increased slowly as his grip tightened. I was pretty sure that I had a pained face cause an emotion passed on his face. I used my other hand to pry it off, twisting and turning my body a little as I stuttered out,

"L... let go... of me,"

Hope flashed through my eyes as his grip loosed a little; quick! My arm is nearly free! The hope disappeared and died faster than I could say my name. All he did was readjust his grip and raise an eyebrow. He used his free hand to hold my moving wrist, making me stop from breaking free.

He took me by surprise by pulling me even more. The hand he had on my wrist was temporarily gone and now positioned on my lower back. His body pressed against mine, leaving no space between us. My lower half pressed against his making my eyes widen out of it's sockets.

Now that I was directly in front of his eyesight, I was caught in a trance. Never in my life had I been in this type of situation. I had to lean back, tiling my head so that I could see his face. His stance completely taller than my 5'2 frame.

My lips part ever so slightly and breath out. I then lick the corner of my lips, his eyes never leaving once from my face and I was pretty sure it never left my lips too which was no use. I look away from his gaze focusing now on his chest.

I swallowed the lump that grew in my throat before I mustered the little courage that I had. I part my lips once more, this time now aiming to speak without stuttering,

"I really need these files to be delivered. L- let go of me,"

He doesn't listen and stood completely silent. Giving up with trying to reason with him, I tried once more to free myself but I gave up seconds later with a puff of air. My strength nowhere near his. Due to being off guard, he leans forward bringing his face close to mine.

On instinct, I lean back even more trying to create space but come on, in my position the definition of space was long gone. In order to stop me from leaning back, the hand that was placed on my lower back moved upwards; coming to a stop just below my bra.

I gasped, his touch creating a trail of fire. He nudged me, bringing me back to him. Our noses briskly touching from him doing so. I failed to give any emotion other than widen my eyes. Yes, I was too stunned to say or do anything.

He doesn't react like I did but instead, slightly moved his face, making his cheek brush against mine. He brought his face even closer until I could no longer see it. Small puffs of air leaves his mouth.

His simple action made my heart fasten and shiver at the same time since cold air touched my ear. He whispered huskily making my blood turn cold,

"I said we're not done yet... kitten,"

Although he spoke less than ten words he left me frozen on the spot from his sudden tone of voice and pet name. He was a stranger, yes an irresistibly good looking stranger and yet he was able to leave me speechless.

He removed himself from my height, now standing confident as if he said nothing sensual. He still had his hand placed on my back and wrist, this time his strength loose. I look at him as his eyes scans around the room.

Eventually the hold he has on my back disappeared replacing the fire with ice. It felt strange, his touch on me felt almost natural. I didn't expect it at first but as I got lost in his eyes, it felt like this was meant to be. It felt like fate... it couldn't... could it?

My eyes fall to his hand that was by his side, my back screaming for it to be held, touched even but hey, you can't have everything you want in life. Fixated on the voices in my head, I didn't realise that with his grip still on my wrist, we began to walk into the company.

Every step we took further resulted one step away from the main doors where I needed to be. I looked around seeing a few people walking, discussing things with each one another. Tanya looks at us for a brief moment, clearly finding it hard to believe what was happening.

He tugs on my wrist making me jerk a little, snapping my eyes back to him as he caught mine since he looked over his shoulder. In no time, we were standing in front of the elevator. He presses the button. He waits patiently, his free hand tucked away in his pocket.

I stand close by him until I look at the jumbled up papers in my hand. These still needed to be delivered... I stare at the paper for a minute or two before giving him a glance finding him turn his head the other direction away from me.

It was now or never... come on Lily... you can do it or kiss your job goodbye. Biting the inside of my mouth, I squeezed my eyes shut tightly and forcefully remove my hand from his resulting a burning sensation lingered on my skin.

I instantly regretted my actions as it now felt empty and bare. A fool would be stupid to do what I did. Opening my eyes, I look down at my wrist and then back to him seeing his face hold a little shock. He turns his body to face me, his head moving to the side. He scoffed.

He pulls his hand out from his pocket and I didn't waste a second to turn on my feet, clutching onto the papers tightly to my chest; not wanting to drop them again. I muster the power to push my legs forward, creating a distance between me and him.

Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it, don't -

I told myself. I was a couple of step away from the double glass doors when I decided to go against the repeated voice in my head. I look over my shoulder, facing him and boy what a fucking great choice I made.

He stood in front of the elevator; the doors opened behind him. His hands were clenched into fists and that's when I knew... that's when I knew that I fucked up big time because his fists looked ghost white.

His face was stone-cold, holding the most deadliest look ever. I face the front again and push the doors wide open, leaving the company with one thought in mind that made my stomach twist and turn with uncertainty,

Eh it's not like I'm seeing him again...
