"Hey Lily,"

I look through the bathroom mirror giving a smile back in response,

"Luke's waiting for you,"

I turn to face Delilah, a team member, who I worked alongside with. I roll my eyes already knowing that she was smiling cheekily at my despair,

"He's one of us, I swear on my life! I bet you anything that I won't leave his office for like an hour! He just babbles on and on about god knows what. Sometimes I have to go along with it just so that he doesn't feel hurt. How he even get that position is beyond my expectations,"

She doesn't say anything other than chuckle. In sync, we both walk to the hand dryer; placing our hands underneath. She shrugged her shoulders before commenting,

"From what I've heard, Luke's one of Mr King's closest friends,"

My shoulders drop as I chuckled to myself. I felt Delilah's eyes on me so I turned to the side indeed finding her look at me. I step closer to her, closing our distance. I spoke, my eyebrow scrunched with curiosity,

"I wonder what made Mr King keep him, don't you?"

She laughs, shaking her head,

"God you make me laugh. You seriously are the definition of that curious cat who got killed,"

She shakes her head a few times, contemplating whether or not she should continue speaking. She does in the end,

"Apparently they were high school friends. I remember hearing from someone that Luke's like a really close brother to him,"

I nod, not wanting to have a full on conversation about the man who employed me. Delilah leaves first, leaving me alone in the toilet. I look back at the large mirror, coming to see myself in the reflection. I blink, taking in myself.

I'm Lily Cole. A fairly new employee at King Enterprise at the age of twenty-two. I work with the mindset of making my parents proud. I drop my shoulders before lifting a hand to comb my chestnut brown hair that fell just a little past my shoulders, hazel brown eyes staring right back at me.

I'm ordinary like every other young adult. Dad was a known businessman in the business industry. He worked diligently to provide food and shelter for mum, me and my older brother. Mum too chose to work in the business industry. That's how they met. Romantic if you ask me.

I had a brother, Leo, who was three years older than I was. I looked at the mirror, nodding in acknowledgement, clearly happy with who I was. I smile to myself before I spun on my heels, the voice inside my head, wishing me the best for today.

Moving onto the main picture, King Enterprise. The biggest company on the market and New York. There was not one person who didn't know who the proud owner was... except me.

Yes. You've heard it. Almost everyone who worked here in the past or was currently employed watched the news or read business magazines to know who the proud owner was except for me.

That me being the person who worked in the damn company, helping with annual reports and whatnot.

The proud owner of King Enterprise belonged to the one and only Noah King. He was the one who made it into the top three most handsome bachelor at the age of twenty-five. From my little knowledge of Noah King, all I knew was that he had it all.

Noah King really was the definition of having it all. He had money, the fame, women. There was literally nothing stopping him from achieving his goals, desires and needs. Eh I wasn't interested in it. Let alone knowing something small about him, I didn't even know how he looked like.

Hell, I could be in a frantic mode and collide with him without knowing that it was him! My naive mind would simply think that I bumped into another employee, not the CEO of King Enterprise. Now that would make a clear statement running around the company...

All I wanted was to work like everyone. The motion of romance not in mind. I just wanted to earn and build a stable foundation for myself. Love and romance can wait a tiny bit longer. I'll leave my romance to fate, but now...

Now was the time to build that stable foundation.

Taking out my hairband was the biggest mistake I could have done. I could feel my hair hinder my sight for the 100th time already. I quickly tucked my hair behind my ear, clearing my vision. The end of a pen grasped tightly between my teeth.

My eyes skimmed the screen in front of me, fingers moving fast as I typed in new information to the annual report that I got assigned to by Luke. Speaking of the devil, his voice pulled me away from the screen,

"Lily, may I have a word with you in my office please? It won't take long I promise,"

I face Luke, my manager. My fingers halt slightly above the keyboard in front of me. I glace at my screen, seeing the title scream at me. All in bold and cap locks; . I part my lips to speak,

"I have to complete this for Mr King, can this not wait for another time or later once this is done?"

Luke wasn't your basic employer at a very well-known company. No, Luke was a young man. If my guess was correct, he'd also be the same age as Mr King, twenty-five. Coming to think of it... all the men that I knew were at that age.

What was it with me knowing men who were twenty-five?

He had a nice build with the right amount of muscle on his arms. His upper half was slightly broad that suited him. His height taller than my 5'2 frame. He had dirty blonde hair that was slicked back, exposing his forehead. His brown eyes gleaming with curiosity and playfulness.

I leaned back on my spinning chair, my head touching the headrest. He sighed and before I knew it, he grabbed onto my wrist; pulled me out of my chair. In alarm, my eyes roam around the room, already seeing everyone flash me a wink and a thumbs up.

I groaned loudly, making sure everyone heard my protest. My eyes desperately moved from one person to another, wishing that they could come to my aid but alas, they were all twats and just got on with their work.

In the end, my gaze goes back and forth between Luke and my computer. Every step that we took only made the the gap increase for my computer until I could no longer see it in sight. We reach his office in mere seconds as it was just down the corridor.

We step inside his partially clean/messy office. The door closing behind us. He lets go of my hand and takes a seat behind his glass table. He spins on his leather chair, getting comfortable. I made no effort to make myself comfortable. I just stared at him from where I stood,

"Oh come on, loosen up a little and take a seat. It shouldn't be long, I swear,"

I give him a questioning look before taking steps towards his table. I reach the glass table and sit opposite him. He leans forward, placing his elbows on the table. He had a smile playing on his face, that exposed the dimple he had on his left cheek,

"Tell me sugarplum, how long have you been working at King Enterprise? Oh and remember, call me Luke. Sir makes me feel like I'm fifty,"

He spoke with gleam. He still had the smile plastered on his face, eyes holding a small hint of playfulness. I played with my fingers, worry clearly present on my face. I bit my lip, unsteady with the way how the conversation was flowing. Despite the worry, I answer his question,

"A good month and two weeks I think,"

Luke smiles as he nods once. He turns his body towards his Apple screen, typing away. He glances my way for a second before he speaks. This time, grabbing my full attention,

"Tell me honestly, do you like your job sugarplum?"

I ponder before replying,

"I do, I mean... sure keeps me busy alright, but I like it. The pay is decent and everyone is nice. All in all, I think I chose the right place to work,"

Was it a good sign with where this conversation was going? I would never know. Now that we were talking, I relax and spin the chair side-to-side. My mind playing snippets of my family. A smile now fighting to show. Luke takes a deep breath as he proceeds to speaks,

"Very well, I just called to ask how you were finding King Enterprise really, nothing major..."

He paused before continuing,

"... I also wanted to tell you that there is a new post open for Mr King himself as his PA since his last one didn't end so well on good terms..."

I knew it.

He sucks in a breath before looking my way. He folds his arms again, placing them back on the table. Unlike before, he gives me his full attention; his eyes not leaving me once. What was scary was that he hardly blinked.

It was like he was deciding something... weighing the scale in his mind,

"I was thinking that you would be perfect for him. After seeing how well you've fitted into the company in such a small amount of time. I thought you would be the perfect candidate. Not only did you fit in so well but you have high dedication when it comes to work,"

I scrunch my face as if I had sucked a whole lemon,

"With all due respect Luke, I like my job as it is and besides, I feel like a hermit living under a rock. I've heard a lot about Mr King and his antics. I doubt I'll be able to stick up to his screams and never-ending workload,"

Luke merely chuckles at my answer,

"Not to forget that I haven't seen him once, let alone know what he looks like. I don't plan on doing so anytime either. I mean why would I? The guys busy with his work like the rest of us,"

Luke instantly drops his mouth open looking at me in horror,

"What?! You're joking right? I mean you're working at the most famous, well-known business in all time! How have you not seen the actual man who runs this place!?? Like do you not watch the news or..?"

He trials off,

"Of course I do, but here's the thing... I'm never around to see what he actually looks like when he's made an appearance and before you ask, yes I do have a phone. Checking the news isn't my thing if I'm honest..."

I shrug my shoulder as I look at my nails, continuing,

"...I mean sure, I've heard that he's a player and whatnot. He's got different girls under his arm every time he goes out for a business event and whatever but what he does is none of my concern. We all live different lives by the end of the day,"

Luke stays mute as he continues to look at me silently. The room soon fills with uneasy tension and our steady breaths is the only thing heard in the silence. The result of this only makes me chuckle at his reaction. Randomly, his expression changes quickly into a growing smirk,

"Well Lily as an employer to Mr King and a close friend to Noah,"

My face drops, the chuckle no longer present as Delilah's statement rings in my ear from earlier,

"... from what I've heard, Luke's one of Mr King's closest friends..."

My skin suddenly felt cold and my heart almost froze as the words left his lips. He spins on his chair, standing so that he walked over to me. My instincts told me move, run away even from him and his office and I do. My feet heeds by pushing the chair backwards slightly, ready to run.

The action wasn't missed by Luke. He took a wide step forward, coming to stand in front of me. He places a hand on my shoulder, coming in line with my vision. He now had a wide smile plastered on his face in victory.

He parted his lips allowing the words to escape his lips ever so softly. it was so soft that it even made me shiver visibly in response,

"You know sugarplum, I think you're the perfect candidate to be his personal assistant. I'll make sure to mention your name when I see him,"
