《Frenemies》Chapter 33: Full Circle [FINAL CHAPTER]

Life is fragile. Now, I know saying that is cliché, maybe even a little boring...but it's the truth. Life is fragile. It can break; it can be shattered, and demolished. Like a mirror, once there's a crack, there's a guarantee the entire glass will fall apart to the point where nothing but the darkened wood that held the flawless piece together remains. Think of life as the glass, and your body as the wood. If you strip life from the body...what do you have left?
"Nothing," you mumbled, smiling a little when looking up at the cloudless sky that seemed close to touch.
Here you were, hair moving triumphally off your shoulders in the chilling wind as you sat comfortably on the buildings side. One tug forward, and you'd fall. You'd fall so quick and meet the pavement that surrounded the BigHit building, so instead, you stay focused on the clear sky that was before you. Not even a cloud seemed to be around you, no smog, no dark air. Nothing but clear sky.
"Y'know," you said, smiling before moving your hand slowly in the other that gripped tightly at your fingers, "If you were scared to come up here, you didn't have to."
Jungkook's crinkled forehead seemed to tense further when slowly glancing over at you. He was seated next to you, trying to force a smile on his face as his feet dangled off the side of the building as well.
"I," the maknae took in a huge gulp of air, "What're you talking about, of course I wanted to come up here—"
He stopped talking the moment you pursed your lips from bursting into laughter at his face. Scoffing a little, the maknae looked over the edge for a moment, his adam's apple bobbing once again.
"I just," he struggled, trying his hardest not to pay attention to the height, and instead, focus on your face so close next to him. "I just thought the last time you were up here, I forced you away so rudely. You had mentioned how you loved the way your mind thought so freely up here...so I don't know, I thought I'd bring you back."
You nodded, remembering how in the past, when you had grown stressed over the burden of 'working for Bangtan' long ago, you had asked PD Nim to come up here. Once you had found bliss in a quick moment, Jungkook had shattered it by taking away this beautiful sight from you forever. The maknae had taken you off the roof and forced the keys from your hands. It was a stressful day, but at the time, you didn't expect much from the maknae...
"Throughout trying to be sweet," Jungkook said, all the blood in his cheeks falling, "I forgot just how high this building was."
You felt Jungkook's fingers move away from your hand before they slowly crept along the side of your sweater. Pulling you gently closer by your hip, the maknae seemed to want to hold you as he glanced down to possible death again.
"Aw," you chimed, chuckling before kissing the maknae's cheek, "You worry about me."
"Of course, I do," Jungkook said, eyes still drifting down to spot the rush of cars.
You smiled.
"But I also care about myself, and I don't want to die up here," Jungkook chuckled out, causing you to roll your eyes before taking hold of his chin for a moment.
His brows furrowed a slight bit when you nudged his jaw up. Forehead crinkling again, you eyed what you were trying to get him to see as well. The sky.

"Look up instead of down," you mumbled, knowing it would help with his uneasiness, "It'll help overcome your fear."
Jungkook's lips curled at that, his eyes moving away from the clear sky before staring at your face again. It was refreshing to see you after weeks of tour, but to see you in such light matched with a clear sky, Jungkook felt chills. He missed you so, and it was hard for him to voice such feelings he didn't understand. Feelings he still had to sort out within himself.
"Through the video call we had..." Jungkook whispered, his lips moving slowly to your ear, "Did you actually think I'd run?"
You tried not to shiver from the warm breath of the maknae at your neck. Focusing before you, you let your fingers move to rub at his thigh over his jeans. Letting your fingers peek through the hole at his knee, you allowed the tips of your hands to tap away at his visible skin.
"Yes, with all I told you...I would've understood if you ran."
Jungkook pursed his lips from grinning. Moving his arm more around your waist next to him, he let his chin rest lamely over at your shoulder as he glanced up at your nose from his eyeline.
"From all that I heard that day," Jungkook said lightly, smiling as he kissed your collar over your sweater, "...you're a great sister that did everything for your family. Why would I run away from loyalty?"
"I don't know," you chuckled out, "Maybe because it was slightly insane...all that I did. Loyalty is great, but matched with crazy isn't so appealing."
"Well, I found it appealing," Jungkook whispered out, smiling hugely when spotting you trying your hardest not to smile.
"Ah," you mumbled, cupping your knee with your palm now. Almost as if you were shielding the exposed skin from the coldness that surrounded the two of you. "I see you're finally able to admit you like me then?" you evilly cooed all over, chuckling when he cutely buried his head into your hood.
"No," he laughed out, "and I never will."
"Like me?"
"Shut up," he laughed out, feeling butterflies grow with life within the dark pits of his guts.
"If I admit I'm still a hardcore ARMY, would you admit you like me?" you teased, seeing as his head stuck out like a squirrel sensing food in the distance. He grinned, eyes gleaming with a teasing expression.
You chuckled, nodding.
"I knew you couldn't drop out of liking us so soon."
"I could've hated you all, but all you boys are way too charming," you mumbled, forcing out irritation as you spoke.
Jungkook was amused.
"But ya know?" you chimed, starting to become amused yourself, "Since you're my so-called 'boyfriend' now, you've got to eventually face my family."
"The broom," Jungkook said, trying his hardest not to look down the building again as he thought about your father. If I jump now, I won't have to worry about any of that, the maknae thought to himself, laughing forcefully.
"Yup."
"Yeah, but it's a broom...plus, I think I'm starting to get on his good side now. He even smiled at me when I picked you up this morning. It was like a little gift before he left for work or something. I think asking if I could spend some quality time with him helped...it proved that I'm willing to get close to your entire family—not just you."

"And it was sweet of you," you popped, giggling before kissing the maknae's cheek again, "Heck, everyone was trying to get at you all sweet before leaving the house this morning," you chimed, grinning at how nicely your family was slowly starting to react to Jungkook, "you surprised me at the house, but happened to do the same for my family...they were happier than me when seeing you back."
"See..." Jungkook cockily let out, grinning.
You weren't having any of it, mind on one family member.
"There's more, no?" you piped, side-grin at it's ace-game.
"Your Mom and Grandmother love me," Jungkook said, brows slightly furrowing, "They won't be a hassal—"
You cleared your throat.
He was slightly confused until you pointed over at the blue hat you had on. Seeing at the blood drained from the maknae's face again, he nodded. Jungkook had completely forgot for a moment.
"Your brother," Jungkook breathed out, nervously smiling. "Right...isn't he gone now though? I'm sure I won't be meeting him any time soon."
"He has gone," you spoke out, chuckling when seeing how red Jungkook's nose seemed to get, "But if he does get back, you should be prepared."
"I'm too cute to harm," Jungkook mumbled, resting his chin at your neck again.
Before you could speak, a voice and a door creak beat the both of you to it.
"...and I'm too cute to be kept waiting," a low voice mumbled.
Jungkook and you glanced over at Yoongi who stared over at the both of you with such boredom.
You grinned, squeaking out a sound as you quickly tugged Jungkook away from the side of the roof before running over towards the man. Instantly hugging and greeting him, Jungkook was lamely smiling as he followed you. He was more glad to be away from the side of the roof more that anything.
Striding over to Yoongi who was grinning as he embraced you, Jungkook rolled his eyes when Yoongi winked in his direction.
"Ah, that's enough," Jungkook mumbled out, tugging your oblivious arm enough from Yoongi who instantly laughed.
"Aw, was Y/N more excited to see me back than you?" Yoongi mumbled out, teasing Jungkook who simply smiled and glanced over at you.
"Jungkook's my bias," you chimed, shrugging at your shoulders teasingly as you didn't mention him being your boyfriend. Moving past the men, you guided your steps towards the stairs.
Jungkook grinned, cockily wiggling his brows over at Yoongi.
"...but Yoongi oppa's always been my bias wrecker," you admitted as you innocently hopped down the stairs.
Jungkook's smile fell at that.
Yoongi's eyes went in awe at that. Instantly having his expression change and match Jungkook's little brow dance a moment ago, Yoongi chuckled before following you moving down.
"Meaning I make you double-think your love for Jungkook...as an artist," Yoongi chimed teasingly as he moved down the steps behind you.
"Exactly," you laughed out, totally oblivious over Jungkook and Yoongi shoving at each other as they rushed down the stairs.
-
"Exactly," you spoke out, amused that the older friend could find your house without trouble.
It was weird to see Yoongi driving to begin with, but to see that this would literally get the two in trouble if management found out, it was weirdly sweet that both men were willing to step out of their comfort zones for you.
"Just two more turns and we'll set you free," Yoongi laughed out, seeing as you were cuddled into Jungkook's side in the backseat of the vehicle.
Moving around the final corner, Jungkook moved to lightly kiss you before having the car come to an abrupt stop.
"Wah," Yoongi breathed out, "Has EXO reunited as 12 in front of your home?"
Jungkook glanced over at the window before him, brows furrowing only to have all of it click when he heard a soft 'Oh my shit' escape your form from beside him.
Your eyes were wide when seeing the army of men and women surrounding your lawn side. It took a moment for you to have your gaze move away from all the jackets, and dark leather straps for weapons before allowing yourself to see a few familiar faces. From Jae, to Vee, Tajh, and then Helic. Eyes widening, you grinned hugely before whispering out your brother's name and jumping straight out of the car.
Jungkook's eyes were wide when hearing the name of your brother. Seeing you running out of the car and over to the large intimidating group of people, he watched as you leapt into one man's arms in general. Swallowing hard when spotting the man, Jungkook allowed himself to fully memorize how black the man's hair looked when compared to his skin.
"Why are you here?" you asked, buried into the man's clothing as you didn't dare let go. "I thought you were leaving," you piped, hopeful that things were now changed.
Helic chuckled by your ear, sighing before hugging you tighter. "I do have to go...just thought I'd have a last goodbye before leaving."
You pouted a bit, growing soft at your brother's shoulder.
Helic noticed your shoulders sink a little and he cleared at his throat, smile awkward as he held you. "As of right now, I've got duties and promises to fulfill for others...I'm a boss after all," Helic said gently, staring longingly to the side and over at the house he grew up in, "But if you'll wait for me, I'll uh, I'll love to come back for you eventually."
You smiled gently at that, nodding before having your shoulders move up in hope again.
Jungkook watched from the car at how sweet the scary man seemed to be acting with you from the car. Gulping, Jungkook noticed every bit of him was starting to sweat.
"Hyung?" Jungkook squeaked out from the back, seeing as Yoongi was clueless while glancing at everyone as well.
"Hm?" Yoongi mumbled, intrigued over this sudden sight.
Both Jungkook and Yoongi watched you talking away while hugging over at the tall well-built man.
"Drive, hyung," Jungkook whispered out, slapping over at Yoongi's arm a little, "Drive fast and don't look back."
Yoongi rolled his eyes at that. Moving out of the car, Yoongi heard Jungkook try to stop him but he didn't listen as he instantly went to go and face the crew of intimidating faces.
His eyes moved towards a beautiful woman that stood next to a tall man. Seeing as his eyes went down Vee's form, Yoongi smile a little over at her. But his smile fell the moment the man next to her seemed to glare over at him.
"The name's Min Yoongi, what's yo—"
"Jae."
Yoongi glanced between Vee and Jae, seeing at the both seemed to awkwardly exchange glances. Nervously smiling, Yoongi stood straighter before seeing as you pulled away from your brother, eyes on the idol now.
"Ah, Helic this is—"
"Your boyfriend?" Helic asked, his brows furrowing as he eyed Yoongi with such intense.
Yoongi smiled at that, shaking his head. Before he could speak, another voice cooed out from behind him.
"That would be me," Jungkook said, laughing nervously as he finally managed to catch up to Yoongi's side. Extending his sweaty hand, the maknae was trying his hardest not to look away from Helic's death glare, "I'm Y/N's boyfriend."
You pursed your lips from smiling when seeing just how red Jungkook seemed to be getting. Practically nudging Helic's arm to move in Jungkook's way, the maknae almost screamed out in irritation when feeling such a strong grip from the man. Flinching his hand away, the maknae noticed Jae who was grinning to himself. Scoffing, Jungkook focused on staring back at the brother who almost ripped his fingers off.
"Behave," you mumbled over at Helic.
Yoongi wasn't paying attention to anything. His eyes moved over all the people that were like guards around him. Smiling, his eyes met another beauty. His brows furrowed a little when spotting the slight scarring on the woman's face...but none of it intruded her beauty. Gawking at her, Yoongi bowed charmingly. Seeing her smile and bow back, Yoongi had a great smile on his face.
"I'm Tajh."
"Beautiful name for a beautiful fac—" Yoongi swallowed his words when seeing the face of death slap him in the face. Seeing your brother glare in his direction, Yoongi gave up on any sort of flirting. Let's just stick with music being your only love, he scolded internally, chuckling before bowing over at your brother.
"Jungkook's my—"
"Boyfriend," Jungkook finished for you, sweet smile on his face although his eyes were playful while side-glancing in your direction.
Jungkook's face fell incredibly quick, smile weak now when seeing Helic's fake one grow, Jungkook swallowed harshly.
"Her father's got a broom but I've got a—"
"Gun, yes, I know," Jungkook nervously chuckled out, laughing a little forcefully when others started to chuckle along with Jungkook's answer.
"... and I've got a hand ready for target practice," Jae said lowly, smirking when revisiting the crotch attack the maknae had received.
The maknae rubbed at his neck, feeling his ear growing hot as he continued to force out loud laughter.
You shoved Helic while rolling your eyes at Jae. He laughed, bringing you into a hug so tight that it instantly made Jungkook genuinely smile again.
Tossing over a quick low-five with your sweaty fingers, Jungkook nodded in your direction before bowing over to the others that surrounded him.
Moving backwards slowly, the maknae stared at each face within the crowd of people. From the old to the new, all were faces that he wanted to memorize and sear into his small and innocent mind. One thing was for sure when looking at the sight before him, life was a whole new complicated now than it ever was for the maknae before...
Smiling to himself, Jungkook slowly turned around, feet beside one another as he successfully found himself to walk.
It took Jungkook a moment to realize that Yoongi was walking closely next to him. It wasn't until they both got to the vehicle ahead where Jungkook found his hands sweaty on the handle bar of the door.
"So, I'm guessing you've told Y/N over how you feel then?" Yoongi asked teasingly, sighing before allowing the car to roar to life.
"Kind of," Jungkook said gently, seeing how you were still glued to your brother.
It was hard for the maknae to take his eyes off you.
"Kind of?" Yoongi asked, moving out of his parking space as he quickly waved in your direction.
It was time to leave and this was perfect enough of a turn to do so. Allowing his hands to collide gracefully with another, Yoongi could see Jungkook was now watching the way he was steering while driving away.
"I told her I like her," Jungkook said, small knowing grin plastered on his face, "... if you want to classify that as what I'm feeling, then sure—the answer is 'kind of'."
Yoongi's eyes narrowed at that. He held a huge smile on his face however.
"How would you classify what you feel?"
Jungkook took his time when it came to licking at his bottom lip in that moment. Eyes moving away from the steering wheel Yoongi had full control over, Jungkook let his eyes drift over to the sides of the streets that his body seemed to be moving fast along.
"If I tell you, you can't joke around," Jungkook laughed out, seeing Yoongi barely able to resist even now.
"It's hard not to," Yoongi said, smiling as he moved to turn a right.
"How so?"
"The two of you practically hated one another before," Yoongi said, voice soft as he turned a right.
Jungkook smiled at that, nodding before listening to his hyung babble on some more. It was a light-hearted conversation, all on ease...almost relaxing.
"You weren't the best form of yourself around Y/N before, and she wasn't the best around you...like two magnetic poles that never attached."
Yoongi turned at his third right.
"But now, now you love her," Yoongi finished, smile huge as he turned at his last and final right.
Full circle.
Jungkook bit his lip at that before nodding. Slowly glancing over at Yoongi who was slowly allowing his hands to slip away from the steering wheel, Jungkook took it within himself to slowly morph away from his belt.
The ride was over.
He nodded again, and again, smile growing with each tilt of the head.
He nodded until he was now alone in the vehicle, Yoongi moving out and away already.
Jungkook parted his lips, ready to speak and admit finally...
"I love Y/N."
