《Frenemies》Chapter 32: Video Call

Connecting video call...
You waited, eyes slightly swollen from all the crying you had been doing the entire day. It had been a few days since seeing your dead brother walking and breathing, and yet you were still a full-on water-sprinkle when it came to the thought of his existence. Your parents worriedly checked up on you constantly, and you lied. You lied through your teeth. Because, although you were still agitated over the fact that Helic lied to you, underneath all that confused anger, you understood him.
You understood why he seemed to still want away from his family. A family he doesn't dare call his own anymore...I'm okay with that. Whatever finally makes him a happier man, I'm okay with now.
Sure, the 'happy life' he called for himself was an illegal one. It was something that could get him into a lot of trouble if he were to ever be caught or resurfaced again. To the outside world, he'd be known as a criminal...labelled as a criminal and nothing more. But he was your sweet older brother who chose this path for freedom. You felt comfort with your parents and with people you love, with Jungkook. While Helic felt comfort with business and power trips. Both were the same, although incredibly different contrasts.
...and you knew, you just knew that if you imposed any of your ideologies onto his choice of lifestyle, you'd lose your brother again. That isn't what you wanted ever again, so you kept an open-mind.
You were willing to keep an open-mind forever if it meant you'd be able to see your brother occasionally.

Jungkook was the happiest the moment the screen had your view come about. Grinning hugely, the maknae's excitement was through the roof as he instantly greeted you.
Laptop balanced in his hands, his lips were puckered as he playfully brought the camera closer to his mouth. Laughing when he brought the screen back to a normal level, he sat up on his hotel bed, positioning the laptops in hopes to greet you properly.

"Ahh, I miss seeing you—"
Jungkook's brows furrowed, voice swallowing up within the darkness of his mouth when spotting your puffy eyes in his laptop screen.
"Wha—" his heart sunk, "What's wrong? You've been crying?"
00:00:30
You snapped out of your thoughts and directed your eyes to the call that was already running. Eyes slightly wide when spotting Jungkook worriedly questioning over at you, you didn't have time to regain your stance and pull out a happy smile.
Instead, you were instantly bombarded with questions from the maknae.
"What's wrong? You've been crying?" the maknae's muffled voice asked, his eyes soft and genuine.
Your heart fluttered at the boy's care for you.
You let out a shaky breath, shaking your head in a slight 'no'. Swallowing harshly, you found it within yourself to formulate your choice of words.
"I, uh—"
He had to know now. Jungkook deserved to know everything that he ever questioned of you since the moment he met you in his dressing room.
>From the ambush in the dressing room, where the maknae thought of you as a crazy sasaeng fan.
>To the second robbery where he pinned you down and almost threw up when you made a remark of him straddling you. "Gross" he had said.
>...the video you had made...pressed naked against his confused form.
>From the gross massages he forced you to give him—once starting your work for the group.
> The worst of all was when he pulled you back away from the building roof. It was the only place you had found piece and he ripped it away from you in those days of your suffering.
>To the rude remarks filled with hatred towards his "robber". He had called me 'easy' for fucks sake.
>To the 4:30 am visits he had assigned for you to meet. You bused about, barely eating and barely sleeping.
>To the day he was sick and treated you like a human for a change...he even complimented my hat that day.
>The next morning, Jungkook gave me time to shower and clothes to change into. Only to have his entire behaviour change when he saw Jae make me change out of the maknae's clothing. It was hard for the maknae to watch me walk around in my ex's clothes...I just didn't notice it then, not as much as I do now that I revisit that day.

>From the day Jungkook horribly accused me again, firing me from the only job I had that was legal.
>To the points were he started to express his remorse and revealed the true side to him...the caring maknae I had been a fan of for a long while before ever meeting him.
>The days he came over to sleep and get rid of paps and fans.
>The day in the closet.
You swallowed, legs curling together when remembering the time with the maknae in the closet.
Eyes soft, you glanced over at Jungkook who was still so worried in the screen, he waited.
He waited for you to speak.
>To the day he almost took a bullet for you, but instead got a crotch shot.
>From the day he kissed you by, yet again, another closet, and then returned your hat the next day. That day where he waited stubbornly outside of your house, wanting to talk. And the both of you did...we finally talked like civilized human beings. It was a sad and heart wrenching conversation, but it was real and filled with genuine care. It was humane.
>Then...to all the days after...his kindness towards your family, your way of thinking, and his patience with your fast-paced mind.
Jungkook was a nightmare, then a friend, and then something more entirely.
> 'From' or 'To'... Jungkook was now the man you were proud to call your boyfriend.
"You going to say something?" Jungkook asked, completely blindsided with constant fear when thinking of you crying to the point where your eyes had become swollen.
You nodded.
Jungkook side-smiled a little.
"I love you," you said breathlessly, smiling a tiny bit when seeing Jungkook's eyes grow in shocked awe. "I-I," you swallowed, smirking more now as tears formed into your eyes, "I love you...you Pinocchio-nose lookin' ass."
.
"...why?" he piped, crossing his arms at his chest in amusement, "Because you've grown used to giving yourself away so quickly?"
Your lips parted in shock at that.
"You just call me easy?"
"Your words not mine," he mumbled, eyes harsh but smile still consistent.
"Look here you, y-you bowl-head," you pointed at his hair, "Pinocchio-nose lookin' ass," you hissed through your teeth, finger snapping in the direction of his cute nose now.
"I'm listening," he popped, smug and smiling in amusement as he waited for you to defend yourself.
.
Jungkook let out a breath of air, a gentle smile grazing his lips. The maknae was listening...
"I—"
You shushed him, laughing a little as you knew you were at the urge of tears.
"For right now, don't say anything," you said, biting down at your lower lip a little, "I want to speak. I want all truth out in the open."
"Like what?" Jungkook asked softly, still a smiling idiot when seeing your cheeks slowly starting to flush over through the screen.
You swallowed, laying onto your stomach before positioning your computer screen.
"I'm ready to tell you everything," you said gently, "the reason behind the robberies, my past with Jae, and Helic...the truth about Helic."
Jungkook's brows furrowed a little over the last bit.
You smiled painfully now, blushing dimming.
"I'm ready for all the questions maknae," you said, exhausted smile more relieved now that you were finally facing your life in that moment, "...and if you want to run after I tell you everything, I'll understand."
