《Frenemies》Chapter 5: Can't Run Now

A/N: the gif kinda made me fall on an escalator....I was tryna go to school in peace and I found it...my poor knee.

His stomach boiled, his eyes fixed on the video that was being played in front of the entire management staff. The moment her soft and muffled voice went, "I love you Jungkook", he fell into further irritation. Palms sweating, the glares and shocked expressions he received, he ignored. It was hard however, not trying to explode like a star in the center of the universe. Jungkook hated being the center of attention for such conspiracies. He didn't want to be the bursting beautiful star in this light...
"Jungkook-ah...this looks bad," PD Nim mumbled, glancing over at your bare back in the view of the camera.
"It's not what it looks like."
"We believe that," another staff reassured from across the room, "but the fans don't. First the pictures of the kissing and now this...this is practically a sex tape Jungkook-ah."
Jungkook was quiet, staring at your back. His jaw clenched hard when seeing the muscles in your back move when hugging him while kissing. His distress simply grew in his spot when he saw himself softly starting to kiss you back in the video...
"We didn't have sex," Jungkook sighed out, never thinking of actually pulling such a thing before you.
"I know you didn't," BangPD said softly, eyes in distress when trying to figure out thoroughly over all that Bangtan was facing now because of this "fan"...this girl...you.
"We know that for sure, because Namjoon and Jin saw her running out," BangPD said gently, "she's...this is bad."
Jungkook swallowed, angry. He was immensely angry. After you promised you'd leave him alone, sure, you didn't necessarily steal items from him. But this could potentially degrade the entire career of BTS, my entire career as well.
"I'm sorry."
"It wasn't your fault Jungkook-sshi," BangPD said gently, smiling a little in attempts to have the maknae relax a slight bit.
None of the reassuring worked. Jungkook was angry.
"She's building money off everything she's doing," Jungkook said through his teeth, "from the stealing, to the ambush in the dressing room...and now managing to sneak into the house and film this to confirm the rumors, so it sells more."
"If only we were able to catch her. I'm sorry you've got to struggle," PD Nim said lightly.
Jungkook's face fell a little at that. His eyes were hard. I had her once... he thought internally, jaw flexing all together once again as he focused on his fingers lacing tightly together in nerves. So, if anything you let her go...which make it all your fault. I put this on myself.
"If we do catch her, we can't have her arrested."

Everyone was confused at that.
"Why not?" BangPD asked, stern and trying to read the maknae.
"I hate her for all she's done, I do," Jungkook said stubborn, "she's a criminal and I don't care what happens to her. But, I've got nothing against her family that she's doing all this for...don't arrest her and end up punishing them as well."
"We've got to stop this somehow," BangPD said, not understanding where Jungkook was coming from, "what if she keeps coming back...the fans already think you've got a girlfriend and now with this tape out it's hard to just say you don't have one anymore."
"I'll hold a press conference," Jungkook said, voice desperate when thinking about the uproar that was coming from the confused fan base worldwide.
"And say what?"
"The truth."
"Sad reality Jungkook," PD Nim said lowly, "they won't believe you."
"They're our fans," Jungkook said softly, "they will."
"They won't," BangPD said softly, "they're confused and want answers. And with that truth, they'll simply think it's the management making excuses and making you hide your relationship."
Jungkook felt his stomach clench, palms drenched at this point. He swallowed down the harsh lump at his throat, hating the fact that his throat felt the burns of wanting to tear apart.
"I don't know what to do."
"The truth will only be beneficial if it comes from the criminal..." PD Nim said slowly, glancing over at Jungkook and the other staff awkwardly as they all seemed to look his way.
PD Nim continued softly, hesitantly. The only thing in his mind was the idea of trying to help the group and the maknae. He had promised he'd make all this right and that's what he was going to help Jungkook do...
"We'll hold a conference," PD Nim said softly, "Jungkook and the girl will both be there. She will tell the truth and answer the unasked questions to the press for fans."
Jungkook licked his bottom lip slowly, eyes tired when looking over at BangtanPD who slowly nodded.
"How are you going to find her? We don't know who she is or how she looks like," another manager piped from the sidelines.
Jungkook watched everyone grow silent, deep in their thoughts.
Anything to save this team, he thought internally, sighing a little as he spoke up...
"I know where to find her."

You pencil tapped away at the notebook that you held before you. Sitting, quiet, and in your thoughts, you tried to focus on nothing else but the small cracks near the corner where the walls met. Your mind was wandering, leg twitching below the desk.
You were anxious, looking around, your stomach felt damaged the moment you heard murmurs of a few students that seemed to be talking about the video.

The video you had helped Jae and his two friends make.
The video you made to ease up on your payments. As long as you weren't in the image of the screen, you were promised 12k would go down to 5k left to owe. It was a sad relief at first, knowing that you only had a few more to go before you were finally free...but it was still upsetting news.
The moment you had pushed away from Jungkook when hearing a "clear" in the earpiece hidden by your ear, you moved to grab the jacket, pull it tight onto yourself before moving quickly out. You heard confused mumbles and foots running after you, but you beat it all, you beat Jungkook as you hopped into the car Jae was driving and rushed away.
You saw Jungkook from the mirror as you zoomed away. He was still out of breath, confused, but mostly just angry. There was a sense of disappointment in his eyes that slowly had your heart fall to your gut.
Jae had told you the owing amount down to 5k and he was smiling, hoping you'd smile too. But you didn't, simply eyeing him softly.
.
"You could've said no," Jae said softly, brows furrowing over why you were so upset when you chose to agree to this, "stealing from them again would've been alright as well."
Your jaw clenched. "The faster I get away from you, the better," you snapped, angered as you moved to storm out, "I would do anything - anything for my fucking family, and all you've been doing is taking advantage of that."
"Well duh."
You rolled your eyes, flipping him off before escaping the claustrophobic area that seemed to be having your insides knot into one.
You needed air.
You needed freedom.
.
"Freedom!"
You jumped in your seat. Glancing quickly over at the professor that unknowingly seemed to instantly continue on with the lesson, you whipped over to gaze at the two next to you. The two individuals you had accidentally scared by jumping out of your thoughts like previously.
"Sorry," you said softly, grabbing at your stuff quickly before rushing out the door of the classroom.
Many stared after you, confused, before focusing back to the front.
You sighed, hugging your notebook to yourself as you rushed down the hallway. All you wanted in this moment was to be home, hug and never let go of your mother. Tease your father as he ate and watched the tv, then go to play around with your niece that hung around your grandmother. You wanted to be home, safe, alone, and distracted from all that you had done.
Moving down the hallway, it was quiet, everyone probably stuck in their scheduled classes.
"You looked nice in that video."
You froze.
Head whipping towards the voice, your eyes widened when seeing the boy you weren't planning on seeing ever again before you. But then again, you were the one to break the promise of staying away from one another in the first place, you recalled, sighing internally before turning to face Jungkook who leaned off the lockers from outside you lecture hall. He walked towards you slowly, eyes hard.
"What you doing here?" you asked breathless, feeling incredibly terrified so quick.
Yup, you're going to jail, you're going to jail, you're going to jail, you're-
"Aw, not going to call me babe?"
You swallowed at the anger in the maknae's eyes.
"Or I don't know," he continued, harsh, "kiss me when I'm clearly uncomfortable and not asking for it?"
"I'm so sorry," you said softly, breathless as your nose scrunched gently.
How to get out of this one Y/N? I'm running a blank.
"Save it."
You swallowed hard. The anger at his expression grew as the minutes before you grew. You were surprised he managed to get here without being caught by anyone. How'd he even manage to get to past all the media crews hiked outside the building?
"What do you want?"
"I'll explain all of that," Jungkook said lowly, smiling a little as he fixed his hat on his head before shoving the one of your head, your classic blue on, down. Tipping it, your jaw clenched as you fixed it, cursing over at him. His expression didn't change from the bitter grin however.
"Shoot."
"You're going to do everything I say, right now and right here," he said stern, "you're coming to the building with me right now."
"Screw you."
"You almost did just that," Jungkook mumbled out and your brows jumped at that snarkiness. It was the first time hearing such words from the maknae...maybe his sass builds with people he dislikes.
"I'm not going anywhere with you," you popped awkwardly, wanting to hide and just go home into your mother's arms. Moving away from in front of the man, you turned onto your heel and faced the hallway once again.
Before you could walk, you froze, startled when seeing sudden security and other management stand on each side of the hallways. They were blocking your way. ...so that's how he managed to get out, you thought internally, looking around, he brought an army to guard him through it.
Your eyes fell onto the woman that stood by one of the managers.
Your entire expression and hard shell of a stance fell when meeting the disappointed and upset eyes of Lia.
Your jaw clenched, eyes moving to meet his hard ones.
"Whoops," Jungkook popped, bitter laughter escaping him, "can't run now... babe."
You glared just as equally back, staring directly into his eyes.
