"You did what?" Manuel almost screamed bursting into laughter. I shushed him while finishing grooming the small Yorkshire in front of me.

"Can you be a little louder?" I said sarcastically. He kept laughing.

"Sorry... I... just can't... believe..." He said in between laughs.

"It's not funny! I don't know what came over me!" I said back.

"Oh, but I know." He said winking at me. I frowned.

"Don't even start." I said, but of course he wouldn't shut up.

"You, my dear, is obviously head over heels over miss Hills." He said wiggling his eyebrows.

"You have no idea what you are talking about Manuel." I said back, this conversation was starting to get to me.

I liked her of course, but I was sure it wasn't anything more than a crush. I promised myself when I started this. I was not going to fall for her. She would just end up hurting me, and that's something I couldn't afford right now.

"And why do you say that?" He asked now genuinely curious. I gave a tired sigh.

"Well, she's rich, beautiful, popular, and smart, you name it. And me? Well you know. Do the math." He frowned.

"Why is it so hard for you to believe that someone can like you? You're a great person."

"She may like me now, but I know I'm just an experiment for her. She would never want something serious with someone like me, she just wants to have fun. And honestly, I'm fine with that. I promised myself I wouldn't get hurt. And for that to happen, I can't have hope that this will work out." He opened his eyes wide.

"Well, that was a long explanation." I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Yes."

"I still think you're wrong though. Plus, you're not the kind that's in it just for fun. You're too romantic for that."

"People change." I said and he smiled.

"If people change, so can she."

"For how long this time?" I asked my parents who were sitting on the couch cuddling and watching a movie. They had just found out that they would have to go on another business trip. In Germany this time.

"No more than two weeks dear." My mom said. I could see it in her eyes that she was sad for leaving me alone. I thought she would be used to it right now.

"Oh..." I said, not really following a line of thought.

"Oh dear, come here and sit with us." She said. I sighed not really seeing any other choice.

Lately I have been missing my parents. They were always traveling and when they were here they were always locked up in their office working their asses off. I normally wouldn't care much about being alone, but I didn't know what was happening to me lately. I sat down beside them and looked at the TV absentminded.

"Well, I say what, why don't we go on a trip when we come back? Just us three. It would be good to get away for a few days." My dad suggested with a huge smile on his face. My mom was quick to agree.

"That's a wonderful idea sweetie, we have been working too much as of late and I miss spending time with our little girl." I couldn't help but to smile when she said that. I used to hate whenever she got like that but now it put a smile on my face.

"What do you think honey?" She asked me.

"I think that it's a great idea. I miss spending time with you guys too." I said smiling widely.

"Then is settled. As soon as we get back from Germany you, your mom and me are going on a trip." My dad said happily. I knew he was a family guy, he always had been. He hated that his job would keep him away from family time.

"I can't wait." I said finally. As they said, it would be good to get away.
