《The Bet (Lesbian Story)》Chapter 14

I got myself ready for school in record time. My dad hadn't come home at all last night. It's sad to say that I didn't give a shit, but it was the truth. How fucked up was that? A daughter that didn't care if her father got home or not. I guess things aren't always perfect.

Well, in my case, they're never perfect. I shook my head trying to forget about my problems at home and got out of the house.

As walked towards school I started to think about the same girl who wouldn't leave my head for anything in the world. Sadly all I could think about at this moment was how I was going to be able to avoid her.

After much thought I had decided that I couldn't, shouldn't accept Katherine's proposal. Although part of me wanted to, undeniably, I knew I couldn't. It was too risky, I knew I would end up getting hurt. I was already broken enough, I didn't want to be a experimental toy for some rich girl.

I was walking with my head down without looking ahead. I heard the annoying sound of someone honking their car. I continued walking ignoring the sound that was getting nearer and nearer. When I heard the honk of the car going off right beside me I jumped in fright. I quickly looked up to see a laughing Manuel. My hand went up to my chest that was heaving up and down.

"Do you want to give me a heart attack?" I screamed with my heart racing wild.

"Oh come on, that was pretty funny!" He said back trying to contain his fit of laughter.

"It wasn't funny! And what the hell are you doing here?" I asked surprised by his sudden arrival.

"Public school is closed for today. Teachers are doing a protest demanding higher pay. So, no classes for me." He said happily.

"And you are here because?" I asked and he smiled brightly.

"To give you a ride of course! I don't like you walking so far to school." He said with a frown and I smiled. He's a great friend. I was lucky to have him.

"What are you waiting for? Hop in!" He said and I did what he said.

"Thanks!" I said getting in. He then started the car while saying.

"No problem kid." I rolled my eyes.

"You're two months older than me!" He laughed.

"Still older." I chuckled. We then started to talk about random stuff while we drove.

It was amazing how Manuel could always make me forget about my problems. At least for a while.

"So how's your back?" He asked suddenly. Spoke too soon.

"Getting better." I said and he sighed.

"I hate that you have to go through this." I exhaled loudly.

"Me too. It's only one more year though." I said trying to cheer him up.

"You don't get it Amy! One of these times he won't control himself. You can end up in a ditch!" He shouted exasperatedly.

"We talked about this, I have everything under control okay?"

"The marks on your entire body say otherwise." He argues and I sighed.

"Look, I don't want to talk about this. I already have too much on my mind." I closed my eyes, feeling tired.

"I just want the best for you." He said lowly and I smiled faintly.

"I know you do, and you're a great friend. But I can take care of myself." I said and he nodded.

"Just... Be careful ok?" He said. I realized that we were already parked in front of my school. I kissed him on the cheek before exiting the car.

"Always am." I then got out of the car and walked towards school. I planned to go to the back and stay hidden there until my class started. I didn't want to run into Katherine.

I exited the car with a frown. I watched the blue truck exiting the school parking lot. I had woken up with the biggest smile on my face. I couldn't wait to go to school, today.

The thought of messing with Amy got me anxious to get to school. But now, seeing some guy dropping her at school. And she even kissed him in the cheek! What the fuck?

My blood started to boil. Who the hell was this guy? And why the hell was he giving Amy a lift to school? I walked my way to the school entrance with my mind still in havoc. I had to find out who this guy was. If I wasn't careful I could have my whole plan ruined.

"Hey Kate!" I heard someone say. I turned only to see Daniel. He was jogging behind me trying to catch up.

"What's up?" I asked in a monotone tone as I walked to my locker.

"Just wanted to ask how things were going." He asked eagerly. I shrugged.

"Everything is going smoothly." I answered as I grabbed my books.

"What about Amy?" He asked and I turned to look him in the eye.

"As I said, everything is going smoothly." I said looking him dead in the eye.

"Good." He said with a smirk. I frowned.

"You never did tell me why you're making me do that." I said and his smirk only grew.

"You're right, I didn't." And with that he turned on his heels and walked away.

Weird little guy that one. I sighed and went up to the library in hopes of finding Amy. The library was deserted as always. I searched everywhere for Amy. She wasn't in her usual spot, or anywhere else. I sighed as I exited the library. Where the hell was she?

I made my way down the stairs and went to class, which was about to start in about 5 minutes. I entered the classroom finding it to be half full already. I made my way to the back. The Philosophy teacher, Mrs. Brown, came in.

Mrs. Brown was blonde a middle age, chubby woman. To be honest she was my favourite teacher. She was funny and spirituous. She was also my History teacher. Those were my favourite subjects. As Mrs. Brown always said "To understand the present you have to know the past".

"Good morning class!" She said full of enthusiasm as always. Half of the class just groaned a response and the rest didn't even bother to answer.

"Still sleeping I see." She said with a smile. Before adding.

"Well, sorry to break it to you kids but it's time to wake up. Today we have a great class. Today we'll start learning about mythology." She said excitedly. It was amazing how she could be so in love with her work. I wish I could find a profession that I'd be as passionate as her.

"So does any one know the definition of mythology?" She asked the class. No one answered and she sighed.

"Well the concept of mythology started in the ancient times..." She started to say but I zoned out after a few seconds. I couldn't stop thinking about Amy.

Was she avoiding me? Maybe I had gone too far with the kiss. Maybe I scared her off. But I was so sure that she enjoyed it too! I knew that she also wanted me, why did she keep on denying me?

The class passed by in a blink while I tried to keep my mind focussed. Still I couldn't. As soon as the bell rang I shot up of my chair and sprinted away from class. Somehow I felt the need to talk to Amy.

I walked to the front desk swiftly avoiding all the teenagers that were running on the hallways. As I got in front of the receptionist I put on my best friendly façade and asked sweetly.

"Hey, my name is Katherine. My friend Amy Addams left a book with me yesterday and I have to return it to her. Can you inform me in which class is she right now?" The receptionist smiled at me.

"Of course, let me just check the system." She said while typing away in her computer. I waited patiently until she turned to me and said.

"Apparently Miss Addams has a free period right now. But you could check the library." She said smiling, I mustered a smile back and a quick thank you before turning on my heels and walking away. Fine, she wants to play that way, I'd play.

I decided to ditch the next class and started to walk around the school looking for her. She had to be somewhere. I looked at the baseball field, the gymnasium, the library again and even on some empty classrooms. She was nowhere to be found. I went outside giving up on finding her. I grabbed a pack of cigarettes and lit on of them. I inhaled the smoke greedily holding onto it for a second before exhaling. The nicotine automatically made me feel more at ease.

"You shouldn't smoke you know?" I heard a small voice beside me. I turned to the person and smirked. There she was.

"And do you care?" I asked I little hurt for having her avoiding me. She sighed beside me but didn't say anything.

"Were you hiding from me?" I asked suddenly sitting beside her. She choked on her words a little before saying.

"Me? No." She said not convincingly. I had to smile at that, she was a horrible liar.

"You know, I guess it is kind of my fault." I said. She looked up at me before lowering her head.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I guess I scared you yesterday with what I did. I get that you might be confused, I really do. But please, don't ignore me, it hurts." I lied. She continued to look down.

"I don't know if I can trust you." She said finally. I frowned at her words. Clearly she couldn't, but it was my job to make her believe that she could.

I sighed and held her chin up making her look at me. She gasped in surprise but I didn't give her time to react. I just kissed her. Much like the last time. Once again it felt like electrical sparks ran down my body and my lips interlocked with hers. I kissed her long and passionately ushering her tongue to dance with mine. I then finished it by slightly biting her lower lip and resting my forehead on hers.

"I promise you, I won't ever hurt you." I said with my eyes closed, because I knew that I wouldn't be able to say it if I was looking into her eyes.
