I stirred on my big comfy bed and put one of my goose feather pillows on my face, trying to muffle the annoying sound of my alarm clock. Who the hell invented school anyways? God, I hated it. I groaned, not being able to shut off the sound from my head, and got up with a sigh.

My feet touched the carpet lightly before I slipped into my flip-flops. I walked to the bathroom and began to brush my teeth, and then my long blonde hair. I hated waking up in the mornings, but well, look at the bright side, it was friday! And I couldn't wait for tomorrow, it was finally the day of Mike's party. It would be wild. It was like the event of the year.

Every year Mike, this guy from my school, would throw a huge party in his mansion. And each year that passed the party seemed to be bigger. Everyone was going and I was beyond excited.

I finished in the bathroom and walked into my walk-in closet. I picked up my uniform and put it on. Feeling my stomach growl I decided to go downstairs to grab some breakfast.

I walked down the big curved stairway and went to the kitchen. My mom and dad were already there. My dad was reading the paper with a cup of coffee in front of him and my mom was at the stove making scrambled eggs for them. I frowned, I loved my parents don't get me wrong, but I didn't understand them.

We had enough money to hire the best chef in town and yet my mom still insisted in waking up early to cook breakfast. And my dad was the same, he would do minor chores around the house like changing light bulbs or cutting the grass. This was work for servants. I huffed and sat down.

Mom sat down with the eggs and looked at me, with her usual big and bright smile and my dad put the paper down to talk to us.

"So honey, how did you sleep?" My dad smiled at me.

"Just fine." I told him bored. I wasn't the best person to talk to in the mornings but as my parents normally worked until late they used every free moment they had to bond with me.

They always said that family comes first and shit like that. As I said before, I didn't understand them. I ate silently occasionally answering my parent's questions. Once I was done I got up and kissed them goodbye heading to the garage. I entered my white Porsche Carrera and drove off to school.

The ride to school was as boring as it could be, not a surprise actually. The weather was humid and warm as usual and the roads where wet making it easy for accidents to occur. I was normally very careful on the roads, since my cousin had been in an accident last summer. It was kind of a traumatizing event, but hey, life goes on.

As I got into the school's parking lot I saw my 'friends' waiting for me outside. It was kind of a pain to have them following me around, but hey, that's the price you pay for being the most popular girl in school. I smirked to myself.

I parked my car in my usual spot, right in front of the main entrance. I got out of the car and walked lazily towards them. I sighed knowing that they were going to be sucking up to me the whole day.

"Kate! How are you?"

"OMG I love this necklace, where did you get it?"

"Your hair looks amazing today!" They all screamed at the same time, trying to grab my attention. I frowned, God they were annoying.

"Hey guys." I said dryly.

I walked inside with the usual crowd following me. Amanda, Sarah and Joana. They could be labeled as my 'best friends,' although I didn't really consider them to be.

I got to my locker and grabbed my stuff. I had Biology as my first class today. Ugh, Biology, the worst subject of all. I looked behind me and my so called 'best friends' were looking at me with goofy smiles.

"Today you have Biology, then English, Social Studies and Math right? I know you hate biology." Sarah said the last part with a frown. Oh my God, she knows my schedule? Stalker much?

"Yeah, although I hate it I have to go now." I said once again dryly. I wasn't in the mood to deal with them today so without another word I turned on my heels and went to class.

There was basically no one inside the class, I was probably too early. I sighed and sat on the back. The only other person in the class was a nerdy girl. Amy. She was such a freak. She knew everything about everything. She was like the biggest nerd of all nerds. Gosh I couldn't stand her. It's a good thing that I only had one class with her.

The teacher loved her and always asked all types of questions all the time. I couldn't even stand her voice.

She was kind of a loner. Had no friends and stayed alone in the library all the time. How did I know that? No, not because I cared, but because the library was my safe place. I always went there when I didn't want to deal with people. And every time I went there, she was there. It freaked me out.

The teacher came in and the class was already full. I guess I got caught in my thoughts for a second.

So I guess we were studying the human body. I only knew that because the teacher was holding a human sized anatomy model of a human body. Although I thought he was speaking Greek. Nephron? Bowmans Capsule? Loop of Henle? What the actual hell? Shit I was definitely going to fail this class.

Once I gave up on understanding this stupid subject I stopped paying attention and began to draw in my notebook. The class passed by in a blur. But before the teacher let us go he said.

"So, all of you will have a project in pairs to be handled to me at the ending of the year. You'll have to make a handwritten portfolio about the human body. That includes, anatomy, biochemistry, genetics and cellular biology." Every single person in the class grunted in disbelief, except that Amy girl. I frowned, great now I'd have to do this stupid project. The teacher went on saying.

"This project will represent 50% of your grade. And since the little incident we had last year I'll be choosing the partners." I quietly cussed under my breath. Could this day get any worse?

The teacher went on saying the pairs he had chosen and I dozed off, that is, until I heard my name.

"Katherine Hills with... Amy Addams." He said and went on saying other people's names. My eyes grew wide open and I found myself screaming.

"What?" Everyone looked back at me and I realized I was standing. I quickly sat down and the bell rang signalizing the end of class. I got up with the intention of getting out of that place as soon as possible. My teacher though had other ideas.

"Miss Hills, miss Addams, please stay here for a minute." I groaned and went to the front of the class, and so did Amy. After everyone left and there was only the three of us there, he began to talk.

"Miss Hills, as you might be aware your grades in this class are not the best. And I'm sorry to say that if you keep this behaviour you will fail. Nevertheless I decided to help you. You will have miss Addams as your partner and will have particular study sessions with her. Miss Addams will write a report to me telling me of your improvement. If I see that you did improve I'll give you some extra points. If you decide not to do it, you will fail." He said simply, I opened my eyes wide.

I couldn't believe. I was going to spend the rest of the fucking year with that loser? God, why are you punishing me? I looked straight at her, she seemed surprised too. I didn't care though. I gave her a terrifying glare and stormed out of the room.
