《Legends Never Die》VIII

"Get up. Get up! "

I was roughly shook up from my dream. It was a very realistic dream, one where me and my dad were attacked and he had suffered a big wound on his chest.

I was slapped harshly after which I woke up.

"Ow! Who the he–!"

"Fix him."

A bald man pointed at a person. As I slowly pulled up and went there , I was horrified at the state of my dad. He was bloody from the waist up, and I couldn't even see his face properly.

"Fix him!" The man screamed again. I jumped a bit, but i slowly inched towards the medical supplies beside him.

Judging from the blood, it's been ten minutes since I blacked out. It's not good, he's loosing alot of blood.

Doctor mode on. It's time to save my dad.

I started giving orders to the men around, took the scalpel and knife and started tearing his shirt. The sight made me want to cry, as it so bloody , full of dad's blood, but it wasn't the time to have a panic attack.

The people didn't have anaesthesia, so dad would feel alot of pain as I extracted the metal carefully. Another man, the one who was translating my needs, said to me about using the electromagnet to prevent the metal shards to reach dad's heart. It wasn't the best option , but we had little time.

In small time, dad became stable. But , there was still a big problem. He had lost quite alot of blood.

"He needs a blood transfusion." I said to the kind man , who helped save my dad's life.

Quickly I pulled ny sleeve up, ready for him to puncture my skin and take out the required blood for transfusion. He understood, and took a sterile needle and started taking out the blood slowly.

I was getting abit dizzy due to the blood loss, but I couldn't do anything else. He had O negative blood, one which is extremely rare. And that is one of the many things I share with him. There would be no one else who's blood would be compatible with his.

"2 pints atleast." I slurred out.

He stopped. "But that's a lot my girl! I have taken about 1 and a half. Let's stop there." He took out the needle, and I couldn't do much as I was very weak.

I nodded a bit , not acknowledging what he said, and fell asleep.

Tony's pov

I woke up with a shock. Something was in my nose. Glancing down, i noticed it was a tube, going inside my nose. Taking it out, I started looking around. I was looking when I noticed a man , shaving quietly. I tried getting up to him, but was stopped by a wire.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Slowly I looked in the other direction, and noticed a car battery. Its wires were connected to something, and as I followed its path, I noticed it led to my chest. Tearing the bandages there, I looked in horror at what was stuck in my chest.

Not on my chest. In my chest.

Controlling a panic attack, I tried getting up , and successfully did so this time. For the first time, I noticed something.

"My daughter. Where's my daughter?!" I demanded from the man.

"Relax. She's asleep. The surgery and transfusion sapped alot of energy from her.

After he said that, was when I saw my daughter lying on a chair, a bandage covering her arm as she slept peacefully.

"W-wait. Transfusion? Surgery?" I asked, my mind still not wrapped around the fact that we had been kidnapped.

"The bandages? That contraption in your chest? Your daughter was the one who did the surgery. Quite a brilliant mind, she is. Oh, and she also had to give you a blood transfusion as you had lost quite a bit. So naturally, it made her weak, and she slept. Just an hour ago, don't worry ." He said.

I gulped. My daughter, had to be the one to do the surgery. She had to see me at my lowest, and I couldn't do anything. I'm supposed to be the one to protect her! I promised her mother to do so! I failed her.

I failed my niece , now my daughter.

I failed my sister.

Why do I always fail everyone?

Slowly , I took her in my arms. She did nothing but put her head in the crook of my shoulder, just as she did when she was younger. I need her here with me, in my arms, so I know that she's safe.

She's all that I got.

The man was whistling as he cooked something in the fire, as I tried looking at the thing in my chest.

"What the hell did you do to me?" I whispered.

"What I and your daughter did , was save your life."

"We removed all the shrapnel we could, but there's a lot there thats headed towards your atrial septum. Here, wanna see?"

He tossed me a bottle, which contained a handful of those said shrapnel. This is what is in my body right now?

"I have seen many wounds like that in the village. We call them the Walking Dead because it takes about a week to reach the vital organs –"

"What is this? I interrupted, too tired of hearing of my incoming death. I can't leave behind my daughter here.

"That, is an electromagnet. I gave the idea to your daughter . Hooked up to a car battery. And it's keeping the shrapnel from entering your heart."

Hearing a groan , I turned and looked at my daughter, who was slowly looking up to me.

I gave her a small smile as she finally saw me.

"Daddy? Daddy!!" With that she hugged me tightly. Although it hurt as she dug into the magnet, I hugged her just as tightly. Its been too long.

Worried for her, I started looking at her face, checking up everything.

"Are you alright? They didn't hurt you did they?"

"Daddy, dad I'm fine. Seriously." She smiled at me .

Suddenly , as if the situation caught up to her just now, her eyes started welling up.

"Daddy. I thought I lost you. Y- you were gone! I-it had soo much blood! A-and your chest! I was so scared daddy!" She sobbed.

"Sh sh. Its okay baby. Daddy's here. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere okay? You saved me. You saved me. I'll be fine." I tried telling her.

Eventually she stopped crying and just hugged me. It's been too long since I hugged my daughter. As she grew up , she had started looking alot like my sister, and because of that I was starting to avoid her. I know it's not her fault, but that wound was still open, believe it or not.

And I wrongly made my Daughter suffer for it.

But not now. Not now or ever. She's my daughter and I'll do anything for her.

Noticing me looking at a camera , the man said,

"That's right. Smile."
