I've been alone with you inside my mind

And in my dreams I've kissed your lips a thousand times

P.S: Please comment if you like Harry Potter

Amelia was nearly finished packing her stuff to leave for Scotland when rapid knocking was heard from the main door. She froze slightly, her heart beat picking up as she walked out of her room, trying not to run to the door to see if a certain curly-haired boy stood behind. "I'll get the door, Dad!" she dusted her dress off, opening the door with a soft smile on her face. She frowned slightly, quirking her eyebrow.

"Anne? What are you doing here?" the redhead wore a stressed look upon her freckled face, her hair pulled back in two messy braids. "I really need your help, it's urgent and if we don't go now, there might not be a chance." Anne grabbed Amelia by the wrist, pulling her along down the small white steps as she continued to talk frantically. Amelia frowned, confused at the whole ordeal as she stopped in her tracks. "Anne."

When the redhead kept talking, Amelia stomped slightly. "Anne!" Anne widened her eyes, as she stopped talking, looking back at the blonde. "I'm supposed to be packing for tomorrow. What's going on?" Anne sighed, licking her lips. "Ka'kwet went to a school a few months back, but it turns out they're not treating any of the kids fairly. They've cut their hair and forced them to be called my Christian names. They even shot Ka'kwet's dad!" Amelia gasped, a horrified look on her face. "Who would do such a thing?"

"Me and Matthew are going with her parents to the school." Anne saw the look of hesitance on her friend's face. "Look, I know we're not in the best spot. But these children deserve better." Amelia nodded, looking back at her house. "Let me grab my jacket then."

Hours later, Amelia shivered slightly as she gave Anne a tight smile. Matthew had told them they were only a couple of hours left before they arrived, which left two hours of awkwardness as neither Amelia or Anne knew how to start the conversation. They were both desperate to talk, seeing as they had much to talk about, but they both thought the other was mad at them from their fight. But all that was forgotten, and they just wanted their best friend back. They were going to become sisters-in-law after all.

"Look, I-"

"I think-"

Both girls started at the same time, smiling at each other as Amelia waved her hand, nudging Anne to go first. "I just wanted to say that i'm truly sorry for the things I said that day. I was totally wrong and out of line, and I don't think I can handle losing your friendship, and I rea-" Amelia interrupted the redhead by giving her a hug, wrapping her arms around her neck as she chuckled, letting Anne know that everything was okay between them. Truth be told, she really had been missing her and letting her now all the details.

The blonde unwrapped her arms, sitting back comfortably as she nodded at Anne. Anne held her hand, squeezing it slightly with a grin on her face. "I heard that you and Gilbert kissed." Amelia raised her eyebrows, surprise sketched on her baby blue eyes. "How did you-" Anne shushed her, dismissing her with her hand. "People talk. And everyone's been waiting for it to happen." Amelia rolled her eyes, blushing slightly. "So... is it official?"

"I don't know. I left him a note saying...saying that I loved him, I don't know if I'll see him before I leave for Scotland, and when I come back, it's time for me to go to Queens and him to Toronto." Anne smiled, recognising that love drunk look on Amelia's face that she had worn plenty of times before. But in this instant, it was different. Her look was completely sure, without a shadow of a doubt. She only hoped Amelia would get her happy ending.

"Speaking of Queens, who are you boarding with?" Anne asked curiously. The redhead was going to stay with Josie, Jane, Tillie, Ruby and Diana, but there was room for one more. "Isaac offered his place, so I'm staying with him and Roy. Figured they would show me around so I don't get lost." Anne laughed, nodding. "They'll be our tour guides."

The carriage came to a stop, making Amelia look up. They had finally arrived. Amelia held Anne's hand, giving it a squeeze in reassurance. "Let's do this."

Gilbert approached the Covey's house, knocking on the white door. His leg jumped nervously, tapping the hard wood floor, rubbing the sweat from his palms on his trousers. He heard shuffling inside as the door swung open, revealing Frank Covey, Amelia's father. His moustache was neatly combed as he quirked an eyebrow in surprise, not expecting the only Blythe to be waiting in their porch. "Gilbert Blythe! What can I do for you?" Gilbert licked his lips, stumped at what to say. "I'm looking for Amelia. There's something I need to say."

"She's not home, she went with Anne to save Ka'kwet. I stayed here to finish packing." Gilbert raised an eyebrow, having forgotten the Covey's two-week trip to Scotland, before they left for college. "When are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow, I'm afraid." Frank paused, stepping aside to let Gilbert through. "You can leave a message, or note, if you'd like." he hesitated, but nodded before entering. "Thanks Mr Covey." Frank smiled at him, dismissing him with his hand. "Please, call me Frank. You can see yourself out, right boy?" Gilbert nodded once again, and soon he was left alone, as he assumed Frank went back to his paperwork.

The curly haired boy climbed the stairs, adjusting the hat on his head as he remembered where Amelia's room was after the fire incident. Her house had been rebuilt the same, or so Amelia told him. He entered, opening the door slowly as if he somewhat felt like he was intruding. The room was practically the same, but there was small differences he noticed. The wallpaper was a darker shade of blue, and some of Amelia's painting hung on the walls, including the one of himself she had painted for the Country Fair's painting contest, which she had won.

The room was slightly empty, as most of her belongings were packed away. Gilbert's eyes caught sight of some extra piece of paper and a blue fountain pen. He sat down, hesitating before writing. Once he started, all the words he needed to say came flowing.

Dear Amelia,

I don't know when I will be able to see you again, with you going to Scotland and then parting ways for college, so I need to unburden my heart before that. I can't stop thinking about you, in desire and affection. And I've come to realise that my heart has a lock, and only you have the key to unlock it. I'm sorry it took so long to realise, but if I'm ever going to be engaged, it's to you. It's always been you and it will always be you.

I'm hoping your heart hasn't changed its mind, but I hope you'll let me know. If you'd let me, I'd love to be the one you settle for. I'm forever happy by your side, and nothing will ever change that. You're my best friend, my confidant and my soulmate. I love you forever and a day.

With love,

Gilbert

P.S.: I hope you enjoy Scotland, maybe one day you can take me.
