Just let me adore you
Amelia stared amused at Marilla fussing over Anne as she turned bright red, embarrassed that her mother was all over her in front of Amelia and Gilbert. Amelia clutched her bag, smiling sadly as she missed the times her own mother treated her like that, worried that anything could happen to her sweet blonde daughter. Gilbert chuckled beside her, offering to carry her bag inside the train. She shook her head, muttering softly. "I can do it myself." Gilbert raised his eyebrows, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "Never said you couldn't."
Amelia hummed contently, as she turned around and boarded the train, leaving Anne with the Cuthberts' to bid their goodbyes. She already bid her goodbyes to her father, him not being too worried as she had gone to Charlottetown multiple times.
She took a seat next to Gilbert, as Anne took the seat in front of them, quickly getting absorbed into a book she had brought to read on the way, leaving Amelia and Gilbert to make conversation. "I found it quite amusing the way Miss Cuthbert fussed over Anne." commented Gilbert, chuckling when he earned a glare from the red head. Amelia bit down a laugh, nodding. "Don't you sorta miss it?"
She didn't have to explain it twice, as Gilbert nodded, biting down his lip in focus, remembering the jolly times next to him.
Amelia combed her short hair with her fingers, looking at her reflection in the window. She had kept the shoulder length, quite liking the lightness and its unusual, making her pop out from the rest. And that was something Gilbert admired about her, how she defied society's expectations and was still humble and down to earth.
Seconds turned into minutes, and soon Gilbert found himself drifting off to a light sleep, his head lolling over and soon he dropped off on Amelia's shoulder, who nearly let out a shriek of surprise, turning her head to look at him. She smiled softly, lifting her hand and taking a black curl of his face, admiring his peaceful look. She heard someone clear her throat and looked forward and turned a soft red when she saw Anne staring as she wiggled her eyebrows.
Amelia pursed her lips, shaking her head as Anne made kissy faces, reaching out to try and stop her. A small gasp was heard next to her and she realised she had shaken Gilbert's head off her shoulder by accident and he had now woken up. Amelia was soon tripping over her own words trying to apologise, as Gilbert smiled tiredly, waving his hand to stop her worrying. "We're nearly here Amy, don't fret about it."

Amelia blushed at the nickname and nodded, grabbing her stuff when one of the train's assistant announced they were about to reach Charlottetown. She stepped off the train, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
"So, I'll see you back here around five o'clock. Is that dandy with all of you?" Gilbert and Anne chuckled, nodding at their blonde friend's request. Anne turned to the boy as soon as Amelia was out of sight, causing him to perk an eyebrow. "Anything you need to say? I must get to Doctor Ward's office." Anne crossed her arms across her chest, frowning.
"When are you telling Amelia about your feelings?" Gilbert stood agape, clearing his throat, avoiding Anne's stare down, a fierce look on her face. "Feelings?" Anne scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Yes, feelings." she said, the phrase rolling out of her tongue filled with sarcasm.
"Look," she paused, leaning her hands on her waist. "If you plan on doing something do it soon. She won't wait forever." and with that, the redhead turned around and walked away, making her own way to Josephine Barry's house, leaving Gilbert behind, stumped, scratching the back of his head.
What people didn't seem to understand that for the past years, ever since he had met Amelia, he had tried to tell her, leaving subtle and not so subtle clues for her to catch on, but she either never did, or wasn't interested. He didn't know what to do. Maybe it was time for him to move on.
And with that, he headed towards Doctor Ward's office.
Amelia hugged tightly her brother, a contagious laugh falling out of her lips, making Isaac follow suit, a wide smile written on his face. She touched his face, smiling softly. "Gosh, you've grown so much." tiny bits of facial hair decorated his sharp face, a dimple on his left cheek. He also seemed taller, and not as skinny as he used to be. He scoffed, pointing at her. "What about you? You're soon going off to college, and you seem so much mature."
While Amelia had kept her short blonde bob, it's true that she had grown. She had an elegant posture now, slightly more curves too. Her porcelain skin had some blush on her cheeks, giving her some life. An elegant updo made her seem slightly more mature, lace gloves on her hands as a baby blue dress hugged her slim body.
"So, how's Queens?" Amelia picked up the small cup and took a sip of the scalding tea, wiping her mouth later with her handkerchief with her initials A.C., a gift from Gilbert for her sixteenth birthday. She had the chance to meet the couple who had taken Isaac in so he could keep on studying at Queens without having to travel back and forth.

"It's been brilliant, you'd love it. It's brilliant sharing classes with people as invested in the same subjects as me. And learning new things from my biology professor." Isaac started to ramble on, Amelia content with the sparkle of joy in his eyes. "How's Avonlea? And dear father?" Amelia took out a letter from her purse and handed it in. Isaac skimmed the content inside from their father, admiring the neat handwriting.
"Avonlea hasn't changed hardly anything. Though they've started a Take Notice board at school." Amelia rolled her eyes as Isaac laughed, leaning back on his chair. "Any posts about you?" Amelia nodded, not taking care as she took a bite of a biscuit. "Yeah, a few. Nothing interesting tho." Isaac quirked an eyebrow, a little grin on his face. "Anything from Gilbert?"
Amelia choked on her tea, her cheeks turning a deep scarlet, as she wiped the mess, avoiding his gaze as he laughed. "How's everything with Anne? She loved your present, but I bet she's told you that already." she swiftly changed the subject as Isaac chuckled but gave into her wish. She sighed in relief as he followed suit.
A special sparkle was seen in his blue eyes as he forgot the latest subject that had been spoken about. He left the room quickly but soon came back, a small red velvet box in his hands as he showed its contents to his sister. Amelia gasped, as she gaped at the beautiful but simple ring inside.
"You're proposing to Anne?!" Amelia couldn't believe her eyes as Isaac nodded. She bit her lips, feeling conflicted inside. On one side, they were the perfect example of a perfect couple, and nearly everyone knew by now that Isaac was courting Anne, and that it was just a matter of time until they were engaged. On the other side, was it the right time?
"Isaac, that's incredible!" Isaac quirked an eyebrow, knowing something was troubling his sister. He awaited for her 'but', which eventually came. "It's just, everything is going really good for you right now and it may seem the perfect time, but you know she's having a tough time not knowing about her past and lineage. Maybe it's just not the right time."
"I know." Amelia raised her eyebrows, not expecting such a calm answer. "I don't plan on proposing right now, I'm not stupid. I just wanted to let you know I'm planning on it. I also have to ask her parents for permission and what not."
"Oh." Amelia chuckled, feeling a bit stupid. She smiled at him, holding his hand. "You two are perfect for each other." Isaac hugged his sister, as they both felt eternally grateful for each other.
Gilbert hummed loudly, a content smile on his face as he strolled into the kitchen, as Bash and Mary looked at each other with amused glances at the boy's sudden jolliness. "What's this here?" asked Bash, sipping his warm coffee that prepared him for the hard work he looked forward to that day. "Nothing." he answered moments later, his eyebrow twitching lightly as a sign of his lies. Bash scoffed, raising his eyebrows. "Yes, nothing, I can see that. Just a normal day with your mood like bright poppies." he said sarcastically, earning an eye roll from Gilbert as he cleaned up the table.
"Mary, Bash told me a lie just here." Gilbert swiftly changed the subject, focusing on Mary who gave him a look that pleaded to keep her out of it. "Gilbert Blythe changing the subject." he replied back jokingly. "I hope you don't mind we let him sleep in your father's room." it was Mary this time that changed the subject, as Gilbert separated the cup from his lips. "No, of course. It's not a shrine." he joked, drinking.
"We could use with an extra hand, with all the apples this year..." in Bash's face doubt flickered, not sure how Gilbert would react. He smiled, leaning on the table, nodding. "Yes...did I mention yes?" Mary and Bash broke into smiles, looking at each other happily. "I'll go and break him the news." he said, standing up and heading out of the kitchen into the hall. Gilbert quickly finished his drink as he set it down, nearly bumping into Mary, a smirk on her face. "So...tell me." she picked the flower out of his pocket, his cheeks turning a soft red.
"Well...there's a girl." he started as Mary hummed her response, her mind straight going to Amelia. It was no secret there was something between them two. But what Mary didn't know is that Gilbert had met someone else, tired of waiting for Amelia to reciprocate his feelings.
But then Bash stumbled into the kitchen, interrupting the conversation with a distressed look on his face.

8 160The Song of Souls
WARNING TO MY USUAL READERS: This is not my usual style of story. I've decided to turn this into an anthology of short one-shot stories, that are very atypical of my usual stories or style. Some will be horror, others romance, and others just stupid silly ideas I have. Basically, a collection of shorts I write when I need a break from my usual writing style. I'll include a summary at the start of each "chapter" telling you what to expect. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE SUMMARY! The content and quality of each story will probably vary wildly. (One is even a horror romance featuring an eldritch horror. I promise it's weirder than it sounds.) If you do want to check out my usual writing, be sure to take a gander at my ongoing series, Of Men and Dragons. It's a bit of a long haul at this point, but hopefully it's worth the read!
