I'm waiting up, saving all my precious time

Losing light, I'm missing my same old us

Before we learned our truth too late

Resigned to fate, fading away

Amelia had wrapped herself warm that morning. And thank god she did. Even if winter was fading away, with spring right on the edge of coming, it was still cold. The snow was slowly melting away as the grass looked greener, the clouds slowly faded away and the flowers started to bloom. She was buzzed. Her brother had promised to be coming soon, and she was so excited to show him the town she had come to love and for him to meet everyone.

Too bad the guy she wanted her brother to meet the most wasn't here.

A group of girls stood around a scrappy old boat, near the lake shore, their eyes wide open as they stared at Anne. "Whomever plays Elaine must lie in the flat and float to Camelot while the others mourn her death most sorrowfully." Anne said dramatically, explaining everything to her friends. "I find it helpful to think of something that makes you sad in your own life." Amelia frowned, as she thought of her mother. She shook that thought away.

"Of course, you must be Elaine, Anne." Stated Diana, as Anne scoffed. "Oh, it would be ridiculous to have a redhead as Elaine." Anne turned to Amelia, who stood next to Ruby, with a look of admiration on her face. "It ought to be Amelia. She has lovely golden hair. And Elaine had all her bright hair streaming down." Diana and Anne laughed in glee, as Amelia shook her head, smiling softly. "I wouldn't be able to. I'll just giggle when it's supposed to be serious."

"What about you, Ruby? You also have lovely golden hair." Ruby looked aghast. "Oh, I couldn't. To lie there I'm pretend I'm dead, I'll die of fright!" Ruby recomposed herself, and nodded at Anne. "It should be you, Anne. It was your idea." It seemed that none of the other girls were to keen on lying in that old rickety boat. "You're obsessed with Elaine." Added Jane, as Anne looked down bashfully. "Oh, it's true!"

"And each time I read the poem, I'm devoured by a secret regret that I was not born in Camelot." The girls smiled, as Amelia agreed. "The name itself just sounds much more romantic." Amelia agreed, as Anne nodded enthusiastically. As Jane looked at Anne expectantly, Anne nodded. "Okay then, I will be Elaine!" A gust of wind blew, as Amelia wrapped her red coat tightly around her.

"Ruby, you must be King Arthur. Jane, Sir Lavaine. Diana must be Lancelot. And Amelia should be Guinevere!" Anne laid down inside the boat as Jane gave her a handmade bouquet of old flowers that they had collected next to the lake. Anne shut her eyes and pressed the flowers against her chest, as Ruby felt at unease. "She really looks dead." She muttered to the girls, thinking Anne May not be listening. "My mother says all playacting is abominably wicked." It resulted that Anne was listening, as she snapped.

"Ruby, don't mention your mother." Anne snapped calmly, as Ruby looked down at her surprised. "It spoils the effect, because this was hundred of years ago."

"And your mother wasn't born back then." Added Amelia in a softer voice, reassuring Ruby. Jane swiftly changed the subject, getting into her character as the girls followed suit. "We must kiss her quiet brows." Said Amelia softly, folding her hands one on top of the other as she bent down and kissed her on the forehead, and made space for the next to go. Diana did the same, but she stayed kneeled down for a moment. "Sister..." she trailed off. "Farewell forever."

"Now she's ready. Farewell, Elaine the lovable!" Jane said emotionally, faking some tears there and then, as the girls, with their fingers wrapped around the boat, were ready to push it into the lake. "Diana!" A scream was heard behind them, as they all turn around surprised. Anne sat up, shocked blue eyes widened slightly. "Mother!" Exclaimed Diana horrified.

"Child, come out there at once." Her stern voice mustered, looking horrified at the scene in front of them. She looked at the girls aghast, before staring at Diana. "I've been calling. You were to be practicing lessons, and here I find you engaged in perilous, senseless...whatever this is!" Anger radiated from her.

"We we're practicing lessons, in a way." Anne defended them, as Amelia frowned. "We're studying the poem Lancelot and Elaine at school, and we thought we could practice-" Mrs Barry interrupted Amelia, as she stared at Diana. "Diana. Home. Now. The rest of you as well before you catch you death." Ruby paled at the thought.

"But the girls just got here, and-"

"Now! I will be heard!" Diana pressed her lips together and followed her mother, as she stalked off, angry at her mother. "Come along, girls." Jane and Ruby followed limply behind, as Anne and Amelia looked at each other.

"So much for romance."

"Hope can be so disappointing sometimes."

Gilbert and Bash had finally arrived to Trinidad, the hot and sunny weather surprising Gilbert, but he much preferred it over the cold chilly weather. Bash had shown him around where he used to live. Gilbert loved the variety of different foods there was, especially the mangoes. Him and Bash clashed their cups together filled with rum, as they took a chug. The drink burnt Gilbert's throat as he flinched, taking in the sour taste.

"You sure that's not gonna kill you?" Joked Gilbert, raising his eyebrows playfully. "No. That's what makes it good. The danger. Got to taste death to feel alive, Blythe." Bash invited Gilbert to his cup, but when he went to reach for it, he moved it away. "Not for you, first-timer." He mocked Gilbert, taking a sip. "You'll be sprouting like a weed!"

"Man, seeing the world, trying new things." Gilbert changed the subject, as excitement filled his eyes. "What could be better?" Bash raised his eyebrows. "Aren't you worried about that girls of yours? You said some bad men attacked her?" Gilbert frowned, and clenched his jaw as he looked into his drink. "I am worried...but I don't think she ever wants to see me again."

Bash chuckled as Gilbert looked at him confused. "You are crazy! If I had somebody pretty back home, I'd be up outta here." He said seriously, as Gilbert shook his head. "It's not like that with Amelia. She's just a friend." He quickly stated, as Bash laughed. "Yeah." He said sarcastically.

"A friend that makes you act and smile like a moke. Be a man." Bash said mockingly, as Gilbert frowned and straightened up his jacket. "I am."

"Only a boy can't admit when he's gone over a lady."

"Would a boy stare at danger right in the eye? And swallow it?" Gilbert reached for Bash's cup and took a long gulp, as Bash widened his eyes. "No, no." Bash looked at Gilbert worried, who cleaned his mouth with his hand as he groaned.

Gilbert quickly jumped up and ran outside as he vomited, as Bash chuckled at patted his back. "There there, Doug-Doug. You're aman in truth." He quickly left some money on the table and head out with Gilbert.

And Gilbert was glad of the subject change.

But he couldn't deny that his heart had fluttered at the thought of Amelia.
