it was louis' final high school dance and harry was supposed to show up any minute. louis couldn't wait to see him, considering he hasn't for a while since harry was at work.
louis stood outside his school, wearing his most sparkly dress and a matching pair of heels, make-up and hair all done. he greeted all his friends as he waited for his boyfriend, and once he finally saw him walking up, he squealed, running towards him as fast as his heels would allow him.
"harry! you made it safely!" louis cheered as harry engulfed him in his arms, peppering kisses all over his boy's face before pulling away and nodding, interlocking their fingers together as they made their way inside.
harry looked around at everyone as they reached the gym, cheeks heating up as he realised what everyone was wearing. he looked down at louis, who was chatting with what harry supposes is a friend.
"uh, lou," harry mumbled, getting louis' attention. the small boy looked up at harry, smiling widely as he hummed in reposed. "you never told me this was, uh, formal." and that's when louis noticed that harry was wearing jeans and a nice button up.
"oh my gosh, harry, i'm so sorry," louis panicked, eyes starting to wetten and harry quickly shook his head and pulled his boy close, rubbing his back as he whispered to him quietly that it was all okay.
harry then took louis' hand back in his and led him to the center of the gymnasium where he placed his big hands on louis' small waist, smiling contently as louis stood on his tiptoes to wrap his arms around harry's neck. harry leaned down a bit to press their foreheads together, eyes locking and both of their cheeks pink.

they could both feel all eyes on them, but neither of them seemed to care; too caught up in the moment with each other.
louis thought harry would drop him for forgetting to tell him that the dance was formal.
but he didn't.
