Louis giggled, opening the door to his and Megan's flat, Harry close behind him. "I'm just saying, you really aren't the best driver."

"Well," Harry laughed, "you've never complained before."

"I was just being nice before." Louis grinned, flicking his shoes off of his feet as Harry shut the door behind him.

"Oh really?" Harry questioned, taking his shoes off too.

"Uh huh." Louis agreed, pulling off his coat and scarf. He turned and looked around the living room. "Megan! We're back!" He shouted out.

A few seconds later the two heard feet shuffling across the floor of the flat towards them. Then out came Megan. And Luke of course. "Merry Christmas Lou!" Luke grinned at his friend before spotting Harry stood behind him. Harry gave him a small smile to which Luke did not return. He looked back to Louis. "You've made up then?" Luke nodded to Harry.

"Umm," Louis looked up at Harry and then back to his best friend. "To an extent. Yeah, I guess we have."

Luke sighed, but smiled, "cool, okay then." He looked to Megan. "I better get going. Got to be up early, band meeting." he leant down and gave his girlfriend a kiss. Looking back to Louis he asked, "you're still coming right?" It has been a tradition since Louis met Luke, metting up with the band in the garage on Boxing day. They practice and Louis woudl share a song or two if he had some. The woudl talk about what they did the day before (christmas day) and sing a few songs whilst theyre at it.

"Of course I am!" Louis grinned. He looked back to Harry, "lets leave the lovebirds to say goodbye in peace." Harry nooded, still feeling awkward with Luke in the room.

Louis still didn't know that Luke had been to see Harry that day, there was some kind of unspoken word that neither felt right to tell Louis about it. It has happened, it's in the past now. Harry just hopes that one day, Luke will be able to forgive him like Louis has began to. He followed behind Louis until they got to his bedroom.

"Sorry about the mess. I obviously never got to clean up after yesterday." Louis pushed his door open.

"Louis." Harry chuckled. "When is your bedroom ever tidy?"

Louis scoffed. "I'd watch it if I were you." He pointed his finger at Harry in a jokingly way and harry put his hands up in defence.

"Okay, okay" he laughed.

The boys walked to the room, Harry taking a seat on Louis' bed. Louis walked around, picking clothes up off of the floor, only to chuck them into a pile in the corner. "That'll do." Harry shook his head and Louis took a seat next to him.

"So," Harry started.

"So.." Louis replied.

"Are we going to talk about-"

"the kiss?" Louis finished.

Harry looked to him. "Yeah."

Louis smiled, looking down, "I mean if I wasn't ready for it, I wouldn't have done it if that's what you mean." Harry smiled too once Louis looked up at him. "But I did mean what I said about taking it slow. We need to rebuild the trust, I want to be comfortable with putting everything into this relationship and at this moment in time, no matter how happy I am, I just feel it's too soon to do that."

Harry noded. "I get it. We'll go at your pace, do whatever makes you feel comfortable."

Louis was greatful and he must admit, the kiss really did make him want to just forget everything and go back to the way thing used to be. It bought back feelings Louis realised he was pushing away. He'd been pushing the feelings he still had for Harry as far down as they could go. He knew they needed to give it time. It was the only way the relationship would last.

Louis stood up from his bed, walked over to his desk and picked up his lyric book. He stared at it for a second before he outstretched it in Harrys direction. "The song is the last one ive written. You can read it if you really want to."

Harry looked at him puzzled. He stood up, reaching forward and slowly took the book Louis was offering to him. "I thought you didn't want me to read it?" Louis shrugged. "Lou, I dont want to read it if you don't feel comfortable with it." Harry said, his voice sincere.

Louis took a seat back on the bed, this time crossing his legs. Harry did the same, so the two we fully facing eachother. "It's not that i dont want you to read it, its just like i said earlier. I dont feel that way anymore and I dont want you to read it and then feel even worse about it all. Not now we are slowly moving past it. But I also understand why you want to read it."

Harry took a deep breath and looked down to the book before looking bakc to Louis. "What is it called?" He asked.

"Umm.." Louis hesitated, "its called Ghost of You." Harry closed his eyes for a second. Louis sat before he reached forward, touching Harrys hand that was gripping tightly to his book. "You dont have to read it tonight."

Harry opened his eyes, looking into Louis'. He opened his mouth to speak, his voice catching in his throat. "I want to." and with that, Harry opened the book, flipping the the latest written song.

Louis pulled his hand back, putting it in his lap. He watched Harrys face the whole time he was reading. He watched as Harrys expesion stayed the same. He was worried. About how Harry was going to feel about it. What he was going to think.

It didn't take him long to finish reading. Harry closed the book, bringing his free hand to his face he rubbed at his eyes and Louis knew then that he was trying to hid the fact that he was holding in his tears. Harry put the book down on the bed. Without saying a word his stood from where he was sat. He walked to the other end of the bed, the end LOuis was sat at.

Louis was confused as to what Harry was doing. But he didnt say anything when harry reached down and took ahold of both of his hands, pulling him to his feet. It was then Harry wrapped his arms around him, bringing his towards his chest. Neither said anything. Louis stood still, his face pressed against Harrys body, his eyes squeezed shut. They stood like that for awhile, not one of them really paying attention to how long.

It was Harry who broke the silence. "I know I keep saying it-" He whispered, still keeping ahold of Louis. "-but I'm so sorry."

Louis smiled against him, knowing Harry felt it. "I know." He whispered back.

They didn't speak about the song directly at all that night. In fact it wasnt long after that that Harry left. He didnt want to over stay his welcome, knowing it was getting late and Louis had the Band practice to go to in the morning. Louis walked him to his car, waving goodbye as he drove off.

"You let him read it?" Megan asked as Louis shut the door to thier flat. Louis walked over to the sofa, sighing loudly as he took a seat next to his friend.

"I did, yeah." He looked down at his lap, not really knowing how to feel.

"And how did it go?" She asked, worried about her friend.

"Okay." Louis looked to her. "We didn't really talk about it. He read it and then kind of just held me?" It came out more as a question that a statment.

Megan raised one of her eyebrows, unsure of what he meant but not wanting to pry. "How do you feel knowing he's read it? After all he is the reason behind it. Behind the pain that caused it."

Louis pulled a face. "I dont really know to be honest." He took a deep breath. "I didnt think i wanted him to read it at first. I guess I felt attatched to the song? Like that was part of my journey, how i delt with it all. That song contained a lot of hurt and i was worried he would just see it as another one of my songs. I thought i would feel like he was stepping into my healing process."

"But thats not what happened?" Megan asked, still looking at Louis, the tv forgotten about and now just acting as background noise.

"No." Louis shook his head. "It felt good to let him read it. I know he's sorry for what he did. I think deep down, we can all see it, he knows hes made a mistake, i thik he new that from the very begining. Im not making excuses for him, he hurt me. A lot. but after watching him read the song, it was almsot as if he understood me more. How i was feeling in that time. Like id actually lost someone. Because thats how it felt. Like i had lost soemone who was so close to me, that all i had left of him was the memories." Megan put her arm aroudn Louis. Almost pulling him into somekind of half hug. "At the begining, I could have even imagined talking to him. I found it hard to even hear his name. But we've come so far in such little time. Letting him read that song, i dont know i just feel like the forgiving stage is finally opened."

"What do you mean by that?" Megan asked, knowing that it would be too soon if Louis is ready to forgive him.

"I mean.." Louis looked forward, trying to think of how to put it into words. "I mean, i feel like im past the grieving stage now. I can start moving on from the past. I can start hearing his side of the story without worrying about breaking again." He Looked back at his friend. "He told me you and him spoke when i went ot the bathroom." Megan nodded but didnt say anything. "He said that whenever I'm ready, he'll tell me what really went on. And now that he's read my song, hes seen how it affected me, i need to know how its affected him."

"Thats good Lou." Megan smiled. "I'm proud of you." Louis blushed, shaking his head, smiling. "No i mean it." Megan pushed. "Youve been through so much, you act so much older than you are. The fact that you let him read that song, that you put yourself on show like that. it really shows how big of a person you are, that youre not afraid. And that so good. Im glad you let him read it, I'm glad that it gave you the closure you were looking for."

"Thank you." Megan smiled in return.

"I do want to say though.." Louis looked to her, eyebrows raised, waiting for her to carry on. "Part of me hopes it hurt him alot, reading it."

Louis couldnt help but chuckle and Megan smiled again, letting go of her friend she stood from the sofa. "Ice cream and movie time?" She asked, allready on her way to the kitchen.

"I guess it is." Louis agreed.

-

" So, Louis." Calum started.

Louis looked up from his lyric book from where he was sat on the sofa. "Uh-huh." He answered.

"Got anything new in there?" he nodded to him, Louis knew he was on about his book.

"Uh," he thoiught about wether or not he should mention the song he written about Harry. "I do, only one, but I'm not sure if it'll be soemting you guys would be interested in."

Luke leant forward, paying more attention to this converstaion now, rather than the one he was just having with Micheal. "How come?" He asked.

Louis looked over to his best friend who was sat across the room. "It's about Harry." Luke winced. "Well, about how I felt after eveything."

"I don't want to push you or anything," Luke began, "but could I read it?"

Louis nodded his head, closing his book and throwing it in Lukes direction. Harry had already read the song and these boys were with him the whole time, they were there for him. He didnt think twice about letting them read it, especially about Luke.

"Wow." Was all Luke said when he looked up and voer to Louis.

"May I? I dont want to if its too personal." Micheal asked.

"Of course, feel free." he smiled at the other two boys too, knowing that they would want to read it too.

"Louis that song," Luke shook his head, almost in disbelief. "That's amazing." Louis shrugged. "No, really, thats a really, really good song. Its hard to read, dont get me wrong, knwoing where it came from. But you can't let that go unheard Louis."

"I appriciate that Luke, but I'm not going to be recordign it myself if that what you mean." Louis chuckled.

"If you'd feel comfortable, you could show us how its sung atleast?" Micheal said, passing the book on to Calum. "Because Lueks right, that one good- very emotional- but very good song."

Louis blushed. "I mean," Louis thought for a second before carrying on, "I would need to talk to Harry first, but if you guys were up for it, you could give it a go?" He shrugged his shoulders. "In fact I think itll add a good mix to the album."

Luke raised his eyebrows. "Really? You'd be up for giving that too us? is that not a little personal Lou?"

Louis shook his head. "Its my song. Yes its personal, but so are all of my others. Its a song at the end of the day and me and Harry are getting there, slowly. But im in such a better place now, that song was sort of the end of that time for me. I dont want it to just sit around in a book if you guys can make it work."

Luke pressed his lips together before saying, "Okay. But only if youre 1000% sure you're okay with it."

Louis nodded, "like I said, I'll have to talk to Harry first, after all it does sort of involove him." He chuckled. "But if anyones going to sing it, id like it to be you."

By this point, Ashton had finished reading too, meaning all of the band had read the song. All of them agreeed, that aslong as Louis was okay with it, that theyd love to give it a go as a song on thier album. They also all agreed that during the next practice, Louis would sing them the song first, to get a feel of how he imagined it going. The band all agreed they wanted to take this in Louis' direction, just putting a spin of their own on it.

-

It was around four in the afternoon when Louis got home. As soon as he sat down on his bed, he heard his phone go off. he wiggled the device out of his tight jean pocket and was suprised when he saw Harrys name pop up.

Hey, im not sure what time band practice finishes but just wanted to ask if you were busy tonight.

Louis was going to give it a few minutes before replying, but couldnt stop himself.

Hi! Ive actually just got back! And as far as im aware, im not doing anything. How come?

The reply came through alomst straight away.

Theres a party tonight and I was wondering how you felt about coming with me?

Louis didnt know what to do. It had been a while since hed been to any type of party other than his own. He wasnt sure how he felt about going to one, especially with Harry. Before he could wonder any more, he phone pinged again. Another text from Harry.

Dont feel like you have to say yes. I just thought it was a good excuse to see you again, plus other people will be there so you wouldnt have to stay with me the whole time if you didnt want to. Also, youre old enough to drink legally now ;)

Louis chuckled, "fuck it." He whsipered to himself, typing out his reply.

I'd love to actually.
