Part Two.

Five minutes passed before there was a soft knock at the bedroom door followed by Harry's voice calling Louis' name. The door cracked open and Harry leaned in. Louis looked up from where he was staring at his hands and he watched as Harry looked over to him, his face showing concern."Lou? Is everything okay? What's happened?"

Louis couldn't help the sobbing sound that escaped his mouth as he went to answer his question. His hands moved from his lap to his face, trying his best to hide the sounds that's escaped his mouth.

Harry panicked, quickly moving into the room, shutting the door behind him and rushing over to the bed where Louis was sitting on the edge. "Hey, it's okay." He soothed. "What's going on?" He knelt down in front of the crying boy, running his hands up and down Louis' thighs in a calming matter.

"She's my mum too! Jade- she-" Harry hushed him, telling him to calm down more so that he could explain clearly. Louis took a few minutes to try and steady his breathing before he was able to squeak out anything that made sense. "Jade's spending Christmas with mum. Which I knew. I knew she'd be there, that's not why I'm upset."

"Why are you upset then Lou? Was it something she said?" Harry asked.

Louis took a shaky breath, trying his best to calm himself down rather than work himself back up. "I asked if she had been with mum when I called her and she went on to say how hard it must be for me to know that she was there with her but that she was her mum and it's Christmas." He paused to wipe his tears from his cheeks. "But she's my mum too. And when I said that, she went to say how it was different but how is it different?"

"Lou.."

"She is my mum too. She gave birth to me too. Raised me with the same morals and gave us the same punishments when we did anything wrong. What did I do that was so wrong? For my own mum to hate me so much?" Harry could hear the pain in Louis' voice and all he wanted to do was be able to give him an answer.

"You did nothing wrong Louis. Nothing at all. It's not an excuse, but your mother was brought up in a different time, in a place where it was considered different for a man to wear makeup but it's not wrong. They were just taught differently. It can take time for them to except and figure things out." He spoke calmly, hoping that way, it would calm Louis too. "Jade said that she was broken when you left. I know it's not right, and there were defiantly other ways she could have handled the situation, but maybe it took you leaving for her to figure out what really matters."

Louis stayed quiet for a little while before looking to Harry. "Thank you." He whispered.

Harry smiled. "How about we go and see if everyone else is ready? We usually open a few presents around this time, before mum starts on the dinner properly." Louis smiled gratefully before Harry stood and pulled Louis up to his feet by his hands.

The two made there way quietly down the stairs to find out everyone was in fact already in the living room, waiting patiently for the two other boys. Before they joined them, Louis looked to Harry. "Do I look like I've been crying?" He asked sheepishly.

Harry smiled, reaching forward with both hands and wiped Louis' cheeks with his thumbs. "You look just fine, don't worry." Louis smiled back.

When they entered the room, Gemma called Louis over to where she was sat, patting the spare cushion on the sofa next to her. Louis rushed over to his seat, placing his hands on his knees, bouncing them, showing his excitement. Harry just chuckled and took the spare seat next to him.

Gemma grinned. "So, who's first?"

-

The rest of the day went as smoothly as a Christmas Day could go. They ended up opening half of the presents under the tree before dinner. Louis was shocked when he was handed quite a few presents. A dress and jacket from Gemma, and a few bits of makeup and tops from Anne and Des. Harry was going to give Louis his present after dinner as Louis had to wait for Megan to get there with Harry's gift first.

Megan showed up just in time for dinner and, just as expected, got on extremely well with everyone, Anne and Gemma especially. Louis had ran up to Harry's room as soon as Megan had handed him his makeup bag, shaking his head when Harry followed behind him saying, "you don't need to put it on, you look great without it."

"It's Christmas. I've been practicing my Christmas make-up for the past year, Harry." Louis rolled his eyes jokingly.

"Well, okay than, princess." Harry shot back, a small smirk on his face as he sat up in the small space that wasn't covered in products on his bathroom counter. He sat, swinging his legs back and forth, watching Louis do his makeup as flawlessly as ever and he couldn't help but think about how well the day had gone. How things just seemed to go back to normal even though he knew they weren't fully there yet.

"You don't have to sit there and stare at me this whole time, y'know?" Louis said, using his eyeliner pen to finish the flick at the end of his eye.

"I like watching you do your makeup." Harry smiled.

"That sounds a little creepy." Louis laughed, pausing and looking over to the other boy.

Harry laughed too. "It's just so mesmerising. Like art. You're just amazing at it and I don't get how it's possible for you to get anymore beautiful but you do it every time."

Louis blushed, a smile on his face as he looked down, picking up his mascara. "Oh aren't you just a flirt." He looked back up, still smiling, his blush even peeking through his makeup.

Harry held his hands up, "guilty." He watched as Louis giggled, a fond smile on his own face.

-

Dinner went well. Louis was in awe of the dining room set up and how much food was set out. Everyone praised Anne on her amazing cooking all throughout the meal.

Megan got on well with everyone. Louis knew she'd get on with Gemma and Anne so he wasn't worried about that. He was worried about Harry, however. He knew Megan still held something of a grudge on the boy for what he did. But, surprisingly, even those two shared the odd conversation. Louis was happy.

"Lou?" Megan called out across the living room where everyone was currently sitting.

"Hmm?" Louis replied, breaking out of his day dream.

"We were just talking about Luke and the band and I was just wondering when the last time you actually wrote a song." Louis watched everyone turn to him.

"Oh, uh," he paused, thinking. "Last week?" It came out more of a question than a statement.

"Did you?" Harry asked, intrigued.

"Yeah, well, sorta."

"Sort of?" Anne asked.

"I mean I did, but I don't know how I feel about it. If I like it or not." Louis shrugged.

"What's it about?" Harry asked, an expression on his face suggesting that he already knew the answer. Louis looked to Harry, not saying anything, not knowing what to say.

The room stayed quiet, nobody really knew what to say when Louis never answered. It was Des that broke the air, suggesting that he and Anne start cleaning up the kitchen to prepare for desert. Gemma took Megan up to her room to show her around a little, which left the two boys on the sofa in the living room on their own.

"Sorry." Harry whispered.

Louis shook his head. "You only asked a question. That's nothing to be sorry about, I just, truthfully, didn't know how to answer."

Harry looked at his hands, "it was about me wasn't it." He paused, looking back to Louis. "The song. It's about how I hurt you." Louis' lips pressed together, confirming Harry's suggestion. Harry nodded, looking back to his hands.

"Hey," Louis moved closer to Harry, scooting himself up on the sofa. He placed a hand on top of Harry's thigh. "I know how sorry you are. For what you did. For hurting me the way you did, but it's happened, we're moving past it now." Harry looked up at him and Louis smiled. "I write songs from experience, that's when I feel my lyrics work the best. When they mean something to me is when I know that I've made a good one. I didn't do it to spite you, or to make you feel even worse about it all. I did it because it's how I get over things. How I end that chapter." Harry nodded, understanding.

They stayed quite for a couple of seconds, Louis still with his hand on Harry's thigh, until Harry spoke. "Would I be able to read it? The song."

Louis hesitated, "Harry.."

"It's okay, if you don't want me to, but you're an incredible song writer Lou, I know it's probably not the best song for me to read but really, I would like to read it. If it's okay with you." Harry turned his body towards Louis so that they were facing each other rather than sat next to each other.

"Okay." Louis nodded. "I don't have my book on me, but if you wanted to come back with me and Megan later, you can read it then?"

"Yeah, that would be nice," Harry agreed, smiling.

-

They spent the rest of the day surrounded by Harry's family and Megan. The two of them stayed side by side, only departing when one of them needed the toilet.

"Thank you for having me over." Megan said to Anne, who had pulled the girl into her arms for a hug.

"You come round whenever you want," Anne replied. "It was lovely meeting you." Louis smiled. Megan had really fitted in and it made him feel so much better. Megan was family, it meant a lot to him to have her here with him.

"I'll see you soon Gem," Louis said, waving to the girl who was sat on the sofa.

"See you later Lou, I'm back for a couple of weeks so I'll be here." She smiled.

"Good, I need to go shopping." Louis grinned.

Harry shook his head, stepping outside, past his mother and sister. "Really? Your wardrobe has more clothes than some stores Lou. How could you possibly need more?"

Louis gave him a shocked noise, putting his hands on his chest in a way to act surprised. "How could I possibly not need any more? You can always have more clothes Harry."

Harry chuckled, pulling his keys out of his pocket. "Right okay, how about let's get going then yeah? I don't want to stand outside in the cold any longer."

"Yeah, you three get going." Anne smiled.

Harry leant froward from where he was standing, placing a soft kiss onto his mother's cheek. "Merry Christmas mum."

"Merry Christmas, Darling." Anne smiled.

Harry stood back, smiling to his dad and sister, "Merry Christmas one last time to you to too." Harry laughed, seeing the expecting look off of his sister.

"C'mon," Gemma closed her eyes, raising her eyebrows she tapped her cheek with her finger. "It's only fair."

Harry looked to Louis who shrugged his shoulders, giggling. Rolling his eyes, Harry took a step closer to his sister giving her a quick kiss to the cheek too.

"Thank you." Gemma laughed.

"No problem." Harry shook his head turning back to Louis and Megan. "You two ready?" Just as the two started nodding their heads, stating that they were in fact ready to get out of the cold, Harry heard someone clear their throat. And he instantly knew who it was and why. He turned to face his dad. "Really?" He asked, watching him tap his finger against his own cheek. "Fine." Harry huffed. Louis laughed as Harry repeated the kiss yet again, onto the side of his dads face.

After finishing their goodbyes and Merry Christmas', Harry, Louis and Megan headed for their cars. Louis was of course joing Harry in his. "So I'll see you both at home?" Megan asked, looking to Louis for an answer.

Harry quickly looked over to Megan. "Uh yeah, about that.." Louis looked at him confused. "We might be a little bit behind you, there's somewhere we need to go first."

"Harry?" Louis was confused, he had no idea what is was that Harry was planning.

Harry looked down at Louis, "it'll be worth it. I swear."

Louis looked over at Megan who shrugged her shoulders. "I guess I'll see you a little later then." She smirked, walking of in the direction of her own car.

Harry walked towards his car, opening the passenger side door he laughed at Louis who hadn't moved. "C'mon, otherwise we're going to be out all night. I haven't forgotten about that song i want to read."

Louis gave a shy smile and began walking to the car. "I really don't know why you want to read it." He climbed into the car, Harry shutting the door behind him before walking over to the drivers side.

"I know its going to be hard. You're one heck of a good song writer Louis and in this case, its going to suck because I know it's going to be a hard song to read knowing it's about what I've done to you." Harry put the keys in the ignition but didnt turn the car on. "I want to know how you felt during that time. I want to feel it. I guess as a way of punishing myslef, I don't know." He looked over to the boy next to him. "I'll never forgive myself for what I did to you, I know I've said it before but I'm going to say it over and over again, I'm so so sorry."

Louis fiddled with his fingers on his lap, looking striaght out of the window infront of him. "It's upsetting." He looked to Harry. "I felt a lot of emotion, like I said earlier, it's my escape route. It's how I deal with things. I don't want you to read it as a way of hurting youself, I don't want you to think that it's how I still feel. Because right now, I'm happy. I don't feel the way I did when I wrote that song." Harry smiled and Louis could see the tears builing up in his eyes. "You don't have to read the song. I want to focus on getting past this. Move on to happier times, make new memories with you, better ones, that I can write better songs about."

Taking a deep breath in, Harry wiped his hands down his face and spoke, "Okay." He turned the key in the ignition, finally starting the car. "Well, how about we start that now then?" he palced his hand on the wheel and began pulling out of the long driveway.

"I think I'd love that." Louis smiled as Harry looked over to him quickly before his gaze went back to the road.

"Good. Because if this all goes to plan, I think it'll make a pretty good song." Harry smirked and Louis chuckled.

"So where are we going?" Louis asked.

"You'll have to wait and see."

-

The drive was about forty five minutes long. Louis had been looking out of the window the whole time looking for clues. Each time he saw a sign he'd ask Harry if it was there they were going and each time, Harry would give the same answer - "It's supposed to be a suprise, Lou." To which Louis would reply, "uhh okay."

Eventually, after what felt like forever to the smallest of the two, they arrived at their destination. It was then that Harry pulled out an extra scarf from behind his seat. Louis looked at him, knowing exactly what he was about to ask. "You're really going to blindold me?"

"I'm afraid I am." Harry chuckled, stepping out of the car and around to Louis' side. "The sooner you put it on, the sooner you get to know the suprise." Louis sighed, stepping out the car and turning for Harry to put the blinfold over his eyes.

"You better not let me walk into anyhting or fall over. Because that I will never forgive you for."

Harry chuckled. "I'll hold your hand the whole time. You'll be safe, don't worry." He closed the door to the pasenger side. "Just wait there for two seconds."

"What do you mean? Where are you going? You can't leave me here on my own with a blindfold on." Harry lauaghed. "Harry seriously, what's going on."

"Just be patient. And I'm not going anywhere, I just need to get something out of the boot." He walked to the back of the car, checking once more that Louis isn't peeking, he knew that boy well enough to know he'd peek if he was given the chance to. He opened the boot door slightly, pulling out his backpack before pushing the door shut. "Okay, are you ready?" He walked back over to Louis who already had his hands outstretched in front of him as if he was feeling his way forward.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Louis replied. It was then that he felt the warmth of Harrys hand take his. The familier feeling of being safe engulfed him. "Is the blindfold just an excuses for you to hold my hand?" he asked cheekily.

"Oh, damn." Harry laughed. "You caught me out. The suprise is ruined." Louis giggled.

"So how long have we got to walk for?" Louis began swinging thier attatched hands and Harry smiled, thinking about how much he used to do that.

"Not long, we're nearly there."

Louis saw the trees when they pulled up, he can feel the twigs snapping as he walked over them. He new they were out in the middle of nowhere, not that he was worried. He racked his brain, trying to think why Harry would take him there. Trying to get an answer before Harry could tell him. And just like Harry said, they didn't walk for long, five minutes at the most. He told Louis to stop and wait before he had chance to take the blindfold off.

"Alright." Harry said, standing infront of Louis, the two facing each other. "You can take it off now." Harry was nervous. This could go one of two ways.

Slowly, Louis lifted the blindfold over his head, pulling it off of his eyes. Luckily the sky was dark so his eyes didn't take long before they adjusted to the new amount of light they were getting. He looked round him, not seeing anything out of the ordinary, just trees after trees. He looked at Harry, one eyebrow raised, confused. "What's going on?" he asked.

Harry took a deep breath, reaching forward he gabbed ahold of both of Louis' hands. "You said yesterday that you wanted to start fresh. You said you want our feelings to grow for each other. Well, Lou, the truth is, mine have never stopped." Louis' stomach erupted in butterflies. "I know you said you weren't ready yet to forgive me and that's fine. I understand that completely. But I don't want to waste any time. I want to spend every second I have with you, making up for it. I want to make you feel special. But I also don't want everything I do to be because of that. I want it to be because I want to." Louis smiled. "I love you. So fucking much."

"Language Harold." Harry laughed.

"I spoke to Megan ealier, when you were in the toilet. She told me that you spoke on the phone, that you think it'll be a good idea to hear everything from my perspective. So when you're ready to, I'm here to tell you. I'll expain everything, not to try and make myself out to be a better person because, excuse my language, I fucked up massivly." Louis nodded, but smiled. "With that said, you're probably still wondering why we are here."

"In the middle of nowhere? Yeah I am actually." Louis giggled and Harry could have exploded.

Harry lent forward, whispering, "Look up." Louis did just that. He looked above them and he wanted to laugh and cry all at the same time. there it was, hanging over them, tied to a tree branch with a red ribbon, the same colour as Louis' dress.

Mistletoe.

He looked back to Harry who was looking at him sheepishly, waiting to see any sort of reaction. Louis kept a straight face as best as he could. "So you drove me all the way to the middle of nowhere, blidnfolded me, made me walk in the freezing cold so that you could tie a piece of mistletoe to a tree?"
