《Full Sun || Haechan》11

*Edited*
It's been an entire week since Chenle and Haechan got suspended for fighting in the cafeteria. I haven't seen or talked to either of them since then. I was especially disappointed in Chenle. He texted me multiple times over the week but I had been ignoring his messages.
My cellphone vibrated for the millionth time today. I was about to turn it off when I realized that it was actually Chanyeol, not Chenle.

Like the typical teenage girl that I was, I yelled into my pillow to stop the butterflies in my stomach from going crazy.
He asked me out!
Technically it wasn't a Date but still, I was going to go out with Chanyeol.
I couldn't hold in my excitement and immediately started to get ready. I might have been a little too excited because I ended up tripping on my way to the restroom and fell face down.
"I'm fine....I'm okay." I let the air around me know. I was too excited and nothing was going to ruin this moment.
I quickly got ready and waited for 7 to come around. I wore a black pair of skinny jeans with a black turtle neck. I layered on a light pink coat since it was the middle of Autumn. As much as I'd loved to play the innocent girl who was cold and steal her boyfriends hoodie, I was not going to suffer through the cold for anyone. No Thanks! Finally, I wore my white platform sneakers to give me a 5 centimeter boost.
I was making sure my makeup was in place and my messy bun was the perfect amount of messy when I received a message. It was Chanyeol and he was already waiting for me out side. I grabbed my small purse and rushed outside to where he was parked.
"Hi Oppa." I said as I got into the front seat.
To my surprise, there was a boy and two girls sitting in the back seats.
"Hello." I greeted them respectfully. They all seemed to be around the same age as Chanyeol.
"Chanyeol-ah who is she?" The girl sitting by the window asked him.
"This is Y/N-ah, she's like a younger sister to me."
"Oh I remember now," The girl sitting in the middle chimed in. "You must be his childhood friend from Busan."
I nodded my head shyly. "Nice to meet you all." I spoke softly.
"Aren't you the cutest little thing I have ever seen." The girl in the middle giggled. "Nice to meet you I'm Hyerin and this is my boyfriend Baekhyun."
"Nice to meet you." The boy named Baekhyun smiled.
Chanyeol scoffed.
"What she meant to say is, this is Baekhyun, Chanyeol's bestfriend."
"Here we go again." Hyerin rolled her eyes. "Just do us a favor and keep your eyes on the road."

"What." Chanyeol whined. "He was my bestfriend before you stole him."
I couldn't help but laugh at his cute childish behavior.
"Bestfriend stealer." He muttered causing Baekhyun and Hyerin to laugh as well.
The car fell silent so Hyerin nudged the girl next to her. The girl rolled her eyes and looked at me.
"Sunnie." She stated before staring out the window.
What was her problem?
We arrived at the beach after a twenty minute car ride. The fair was packed with numerous families, friends, and couples having the time of their lives. My eyes went directly to the giant ferris wheel that was lit up in a variety of colors.
Chanyeol must've noticed where my gaze was directed at. "You're not still scared of heights are you?"
I nodded my head no. I was only scared of heights as a child.
He gave me a cheeky smile. "There is going to be a firework display at midnight. If we time it correctly, we can watch it from the ferris wheel?"
"Ya Oppa," I laughed nervously. "What are the chances of actually being lucky enough to be on the ferris wheel by that time."
"We can try." He smirked inducing a mini heart attack. I swear he needs to be more careful before I actually die of a real heart attack.
I smiled and nodded my head yes.
We spent the night playing games and going on the rides that had been set up on the beach. Hyerin and her boyfriend Baekhyun seemed to be having the most fun. Eventually the couple ditched us, leaving me alone with Chanyeol and Sunnie.
I wouldn't have minded much if it was just Chanyeol, but something about Sunnie had just been rubbing me the wrong way. She bumped into me a few times throughout the night even causing me to fall once. At first I thought it was simply because she was clumsy, but now I'm convinced that it was on purpose. Everytime Chanyeol and I would speak she would latch on to his arm and pull him away towards a different game stand. At one point she screamed freakishly loud because she thought a spider had crawled on her bag. It was just a fly.
We decided to go on the haunted house ride when suddenly Sunnie fell.
"Chanyeol-ah" She whined. "I scraped my knee."
Chanyeol looked around before turning back to us.
"I'm going to go buy a bandaid, I'll be right back."
When he was gone, Sunnie got back up and pushed me.
"Ow! What the heck was that for?" I asked, confused by her actions.
"Listen bitch, I'm gonna make this quick."
I was shocked by the way she was talking to me.
"I know you like Chanyeol."
"I don't." I defended myself. "He's like my brother."
"Cute story, save it for someone you can actually fool." She smiled sarcastically. "Look the haunted house ride only allows two people at a time. When we get there you're going to offer to sit out."
"And why would I do that?" I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Because if you don't, I'll tell Chanyeol you like him."
I scoffed at her threat, "And what proof do you have."
She unlocked her phone and showed me some pictures. They weren't just any pictures though, they were screenshots of my messages with Eunji. I had admitted my crush for Chanyeol in those messages.

"But how'd y-"
She cut me off. "You left your phone unlocked when you went to the restroom. Now unless you do as I say, I'll show him these messages."
I felt the anger in my body rise. I wanted to slap that stupid smile off her face, but unfortunately Chanyeol decided to come back at that very moment.
He cleaned the scrape on her knee and placed a bandaid on her wound. When he was done she latched on to his arm and lead the way to the haunted ride while I followed. Chanyeol was disappointed when we got the front of the line and we were told that it was only 2 passengers allowed per cart.
"I'll sit this one out." I offered.
"Are you sure?" Chanyeol asked. "We can just go to a different ride?"
Sunnie glared at me from behind him.
"No it's fine." I forced a smile. "I'll wait at the exit."
They boarded the ride while I exited the line. I began to walk towards the exit when someone caught my eye. It was Haechan.
But why was here? And why was he alone?
He walked right past me without sparing a glance.
Had he seen me?
I turned back to look at him and watched as he walked further away from the fair. Where was he going?
My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to follow him.
He sat down on the shore of the empty beach. I was staring at him from a careful distance when I noticed tears begin to stream down his cheeks.
Were my eyes deceiving me?
No, even the light from the moon was enough to show the tears glistening under his eyes.
Involuntarily, my body walked over and sat down next to him.
"Are you okay?" I asked him.
He must've been shocked by my appearance. "Ya! What are you doing here?" He yelled while wiping away his tears.
"I saw you earlier....I was just a bit worried." I admitted. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"With you?" He scoffed. "What's there to talk about?"
"I'm just worried." I told him again. "It isn't good to keep your feelings all bottled up."
"What do you know?" He muttered and stared out at the sea.
We watched as the waves repeatedly crashed onto the shoreline in silence. Seconds dragged on for minutes but I didn't leave his side. I knew he wasn't okay, something was hurting him.
"Today is my mom's death anniversary." He finally said, breaking the long silence.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." I apologized, shocked by his confession.
"Why are you apologizing, it's not your fault."
I remembered what I had told him last week in the cafeteria.
"you have a face even your mother couldn't love."
I must've hurt him deeply, that explained why he was so mad.
"What I said in the cafeteria I-"
"I'm the one who should apologize." He cut of my words unexpectedly. "It wasn't an excuse to do what I did to you."
"Haech-"
"I don't like hurting people." His voice cracked. "But I can't help it, I can't control my anger sometimes." A small tear escaped his eye. "I wasn't always the monster I am now."
I cupped his cheek and wiped away his tear with the edge of my thumb.
"Haechan, you are not a monster."
"I am and you know it, you've even said it yourself." He pushed my hand away from him.
"My mom used to bring me here every year when I was a kid you know." He began to say. "She loved the beach fair."
I tucked my knees in and hugged them with my arms. I listened to every word he said carefully.
"I wasn't big enough to ride the big rides alone so she always came along with me. Before going home at night each year, she would take me on the ferris wheel because she knew it was my favorite. I knew she was afraid of heights but that didn't stop her. She would always do anything to make others happy, even if it hurt her."
He sighed out and stared up at the stars.
"I'm nothing like she was, she would be disappointed to call me her son now. All I do is hurt people."
My heart filled with sorrow as he told his story. For the first time since we met did I really understand Haechan. He wasn't a monster, he was just a lost boy who had been hurting. He just needed someone to care for him, to love him.
I grabbed his hand and stood up.
"Come on." I told him and began dragging him with me.
"Where are we going?" He asked.
"You didn't plan on going home without riding the ferris wheel did you?"
Haechan stayed silent as I lead him back to the fair. We stood in line for an hour waiting to get on the ferris wheel.
Why did everyone suddenly want to go on the ferris wheel now?
We finally got on and Haechan held on to my hand. I looked at him questionably.
"What?" He defended himself. "I haven't been on here in years."
"Is Haechan scared?" I asked teasingly.
His cheeks tinted a light Pink. "I am not." He retorted.
He pushed my hand aside, immediately holding on to it again when the the ferris wheel started moving. I couldn't help but laugh at his actions.
When we reached the very top, the ferris wheel suddenly stopped moving. Before I could say anything, the bright and colorful explosions of fireworks began filling the night sky.
What are the odds?
"Woah! How pretty." I admired cheerfully.
"Ya Haechan are yo-" I turned around to ask Haechan if he was watching but his gaze was already on me.
I don't know why but my heart skipped a beat. Why was he staring at me like that?
"Th-th-they're pretty aren't they?" I stuttered shyly.
His gaze never left mine. "Beautiful," He replied softly.
I was caught by surprise when the fireworks stopped and the lights of the entire fairground, including the ferris wheel, went dark. I wasn't able to see clearly when I felt something soft press against my lips.
I grazed my lips with the tips of my fingers when the pressure disappeared. Suddenly, the finale of the firework display began lighting up the sky just enough for me to stare into Haechan's eyes.
Did he just kiss me?
