Lillie's POV

It was the next day, and I was walking around Hau'oli City, running errands for the professor before we left. As I was walking beck to the boat, I saw Sun walking out of a building. I've had something I've wanted to ask him about for Nebby, and now that he's right in front of me, I should ask.

"Oh, hey Lillie, what're you doing here? I thought you and the Professor were readying the boat?" He questioned me.

"Oh, the Professor asked me to do some errands before we left... Um... What were you doing here?" I asked back.

"Oh, just taking some pictures of me and my Pokemon at the Photo Club..." He replied. We sat there a little bit before I remembered what I wanted to ask him.

"Um... I was hoping to ask a favor of you, Sun. If that's all right?" I asked.

"Sure! What do you need?" He complied.

"You see... Nebby is... Its real home is far away from here. And I want to help it get home. It's like I told you before... Nebby saved my life once when I was in trouble. Now I want to save it!" I said. Sun seemed a little surprised by my sudden enthusiasm.

"I feel like there's not much I can do on my own, since I'm not a Pokémon Trainer..." I drifted off. I thought of Sun and how amazing he looked when I saw him battle, the trust he showed in his Pokemon and himself.

"But if I had a real Trainer like you helping me, Sun, then maybe..." I said, before being cut off by Sun himself.

"Of course I'll help!" He said, brimming with enthusiasm. I thought I could see a small shimmer in his eyes. Sun, who I haven't even known for that long, said he'll help me!

"Oh, thank you so much. I'm so glad! I really didn't know what else to do! Then, I suppose... The two of us will get to see one another on Akala Island next, too!" I smiled.

"Hey!" I heard a voice say. I looked down at the docks to see Kukui waving at us, and Hau crouching right behind him next to the boat.

"Lillie! Sun! It's like you guys are always next to each other wherever I see you!" Kuikui said, laughing.

"It's kind of convenient, actually!" He said continuing to laugh.

"A-always?!" I heard Hau say, standing up frantically trying to see us. His expression quickly changed, however, as he turned to the Professor.

"I-I mean, Prof, are you sure this old thing's really seaworthy?" Hau asked.

"Hey now! Don't you go calling my boat old! She's not old... Call her a classic. Well seasoned, yeah?" Kukui said, proudly.

"I quite like that it has a sense of history..." I said, somewhat agreeing with the Professor. The Professor then turned to Sun.

"Hey, Sun! If you're all done with catching Pokemon and shopping, yeah, you wanna head out with us?" Kukui asked Sun.

"Yep! Lets get going!" Sun replied

"Oh yeah! Time to sail away. Woo!" He said. Hopefully we don't sink...

We all stepped on the rickety boat. It felt just as unsafe as last time... Soon, I heard the boat start up. It started to move slowly and pick up speed.

Soon, the boat began to go quite fast! I had to hold onto my hat to make sure it wouldn't fly off!

Eventually after a creaky boat ride we made it to Akala Island, where we met Olivia and Mallow, the Kahuna and a trial captain. Mallow was very pretty, and very outgoing as well. Just like Sun.

They introduced themselves while Kukui introduced us to them. They were very friendly and soon left to do their own buisness, while we were left to our devices. Sun and Hau going to their trials, but I had a meeting with someone who I need to talk with later...

I wandered the shopping area a bit before finding the clothing shop. I stared at the display window for a little bit looking at the clothes.

I could never wear something like that... I remembered how my mother would always make me wear this dress... She would always scold me if I ever wore something otherwise. Why did she have to become the way she is now...

Even though she said I don't look good in other clothes... Sun said that I look...

"Pew!" I heard Nebby say below me.

"Oh, you! When did you get out again?" I asked. Nebby still looked completely oblivious.

"I guess you're excited to see this island's ruins, huh?"

"Pew! Pew!" I heard it excitedly reply.

"Hey Lillie!" I heard a voice say. I turned to my left to find Sun walking up to me.

"Oh! Sun..." I greeted.

"You looking for new clothes?" He asked me.

"Well, yes, I was doing that, too. But this little fellow will hardly sit still... I think Nebby might be interested in visiting the Ruins of Life. Apparently they house the sacred guardian of Akala Island. A creature called Tapu Lele." I answered.

"I wondered if you'd like to come with us when we go to visit the ruins... I mean...little Nebby here seems to like you quite a bit, Sun..."

"I'll be at Tide Song Hotel if you decide you want to come. I'm supposed to be meeting someone there... Someone very important to me..." I said, thinking about Professor Burnet. Today was one of the few days she was free from work, and I was hoping to talk to her about... about Sun...

"And you! I'll have you stay in your bag, mister." I said, turning to Nebby.

"I've heard that there is a group of terrible people around who try to steal Pokémon. A group called. We need to be careful if we want to escape the notice of such a collection of villains..." I said, before walking off.

I looked around the city for a little while, looking at shops and other places before actually going to the Tide Song Hotel.

As I walked out of a shop, I saw a group of people wearing black clothes. They all had pink and blue hair.

A group of people in all black? Could... Could they be Team Skull?

I ran back into the shop and hid, in fear they might take Nebby. I probably hit in there for a good 40 minutes before coming back out to see them gone. I checked the clock in the store to see that I was... 50 minutes late for my meeting with Professor Burnet?! I run out of the store and to the hotel. Making it inside I scan the room for her.

And... She's nowhere to be found... I sigh and go sit near the front desk.

Just as everything was looking down, I see Sun walking up to me.

"Hey Lillie! Something wrong?" He says, looking worried.

"Oh! Sun... I'm sorry... I saw some people who looked like those Team Skull thugs and I got scared. I was trying to avoid them and then I think I ended up missing my meeting... Oh! But don't worry. It's fine. This is actually where I wanted to be..." I said. I looked at Sun's face, and for some reason, looking at him helped cheered me up. Like everything was OK now.

"Will you be going for another one of your trials, Sun?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I am. I just wanted to check up on you before I went." He smiled at me. There's that feeling again...

"From what I've read, I think that the nearest trial site must be the one up Route 4." I said to him.

"Yeah, um, thanks!" He smiled again. He began to walk away before turning back to me again.

"And, um. Stay safe Lillie."

I nodded at him and smiled.

"You too. Good luck on your trials!" I smiled back at him. He grinned and began to walk out of the hotel.

I wish he didn't leave me here by myself... I kind of wanted him to... Stay. Stay with me. When I'm around him I... I don't know... I...

No. That would be selfish. Sun needs to complete his trials and not waste time with me... I'm... I'm not even a trainer... But, still...

Sun's POV

It has been awhile since I last saw Lillie. I last saw her at the Tide Song Hotel, and afterwards I went to complete the 3 trials of Akala. In the process of trying to do this, I battled Hau a few times, I battled this guy who called himself Gladion, who was totally trying way too hard to act cool. Something about him seemed familiar, though. I just couldn't put my finger on it.

I went to the Pokemon Ranch and they gave me an egg that hatched into an Eevee! I gave that Eevee a thunderstone and it evolved into a Jolteon, filling another slot of my party.

I even did my first battle royal, and met a man named the Masked Royal, who was extremely popular, the entire stadium cheered when he came out! Though, I'm pretty sure it's just Professor Kukui... I met a girl named Hapu, who travelled with a Mudsdale. She helped me beat some Skull grunts, as well making us allies. She looked younger than me, but the aura she gave off was like Kahuna Hala's!

And I also battled Dulse again, which this time he had a floaty Pokemon named Poipole.

First I did Lana's trial, which was kind of hard, considering half of my team was weak to water, but in the end, Jolteon helped pull us through. That totem Wishiwashi sure was scary, though, but it was worth it to get the Waterium Z

After Lana, it was Kiawe's trial next. Using the fishing rod Lana gave me, I caught myself a Tentacool on Route 7, and added it to my party aswell, filling up another slot in my party, leaving one left.

I took down Kiawe's trial easily, with Rockruff evolving into a orange Lycanroc in the end to defeat the totem Salazzle! Rotom said that this evolution of Lycanroc is extremely rare, and different from the regular two forms I've seen around. Rotom called it "Dusk Form Lycanroc".

Last was Mallow's trial, which was a change of pace considering that my partner, Torracat, had an advantage to the grass types. The totem Lurantis barely posed a threat to my Torracat's Fire-Z that we obtained from Kiawe.

"Wow, Sun, you're even stronger than I thought! You really drew the best out of your team! You even quieted down that Lurantis-the Totem Pokemon of Lush Jungle!" Mallow exclaimed.

"Yes, even back at Wela Volcano Park, my vaunted Salazzle didn't stand a chance." Kiawe said, putting his hand around his chin.

"Nor did the Wishiwashi that I had trained so carefully..." Lana said.

"Though you defeated our trials with ease, it was almost like you weren't fully present. You weren't battling to your full potential. Was your mind somewhere else? Were you thinking of something? Or perhaps, someone?" Kiawe said to me.

"Oh, um, no, it... It was nothing!" I lie, laughing nervously.

Lillie. That's who I was thinking of. I was thinking of Lillie. I couldn't stop thinking of her since I left her at the hotel. Every time I try to stop, my mind always wanders back to her.

What's she doing right now? Is she doing OK? Does she miss me?

I see Lana and Mallow cover their mouths and giggle.

"In any case, you earned it. This is yours." Mallow said, handing me a Grassium Z.

Soon, all three of them left me alone in the Lush Jungle. I looked around and caught myself a Steenee, replacing my Makuhita with it. After I caught it, I walked out of the Lush Jungle and was met with Professor Kukui walking up to me.

"Guess I should congratulate you on clearing all three of Akala Island's trials, too. Congrats! Looks like it's time for you to take on Kahuna Olivia's grand trial!" Kukui exclaimed.

"Yep! My party's grown quite a bit in preparation for her." I replied. Kukui nodded in response.

"Whenever you're ready for the grand trial, come see me at the Dimensional Research Lab! It's down past Route 6, yeah, but just ask Rotom if you need some help!" Kukui continued, before walking off waving.

Perhaps I'll finally be able to see Lillie again... I thought to myself, then proceeded to follow Rotom's map to the Dimensional Research Lab.

"Hey, Rotom..." I said as I walked.

"Zzzt! Whatcha need, Sun?" Rotom said, still displaying the map in front of me.

"Did you think I was battling at my full potential?" I questioned

"Well, it izz true you beat all three trials almost effortlezzly... But Zzzt... Anyone with a good enough eye could see you weren't focuzzed... It'zz kind of impressive, actually zzt!"

"Heheh, thanks Rotom." I smiled.

"But... Wazz Kiawe right? Were you thinking about someone? Zzt?" Rotom questioned.

"Oh, um... No, not at all..."I said trying to end the conversation.

"It'zz not good to be dizztracted in battle, Sun... But, you can figure it out! You've come thizz far after all!" Rotom finished.

I was waiting outside the Dimensional Research Lab, because Professor Kukui asked me to wait for Sun to show up. It got kind of boring for awhile and there was nobody around, so I let Nebby out of his bag for once.

Waiting for Sun got me thinking of Sun again. I miss him quite a bit. It's felt like it's been been forever since I've seen him, and I couldn't stop thinking about him in his absence...

The warmth of his face... His kind, gentle smile... His confidence in battle... I started to get carried away thinking of him, to the point where I began imagining what it was like to be him. I tried to imagine how and what he was thinking.

"Go, Nebby! Use...use Splash!" I said, trying to imitate Sun.

"Pew?" Nebby responded, looking at me confused.

"Heh... I was just acting like I was Sun." I said to Nebby, a tiny bit embarrassed.

"You...you always seemed to end up getting hurt, Nebby. Seeing that pained me just as much as if I was the one being hurt. But if I could become as strong as Sun is... then maybe things would be different..." I said, starting to get lost in thought. Just then Nebby's gaze turned towards behind me.

"Pew?" Nebby said as it started to walk in the direction behind me. I turned around to see Sun staring right at me.

"Oh!" I said looking at Sun.

How... How long was Sun standing there? Did he see me? Did he see me imitating him?

I felt my face turn to a blush in a matter of seconds. I don't think he could see it in the evening sunset, though.

"Um, oh, Sun. Hello. I feel like it's been a while since we last met. Th-there's a laboratory here that studies the dimensions, did you know? And the professor is waiting to meet you!" I say as quickly as possible. Can he tell how nervous I am?

"Lillie? Are... You okay?" He asks me.

"Y-yes! Of course! Um, how...how were your trials? It must be quite trying to do three in a row."

I blurt out, trying to change the subject as quickly as possible.

"Oh, it was no problem, actually!" He said gleefully.

"Goodness, really? It wasn't any trouble for you to tackle all three of Akala Island's trials?" I try my best to hold up conversation without exploding.

We stand there for a few seconds in silence.

"I, I'm going to go into the lab now!" I say, fast walking to the door with Nebby following behind.

"You, you can come into the Lab w-whenever you want!" I say, before going through the door and rushing to the elevator.

That... was odd. Lillie was acting really weird. Was it because I saw her trying to imitate battle with Nebby? Whatever the case, I'll head in. Nonetheless, it was nice to see her face again.

"Hey, Sun!" I heard from behind me. Professor Kukui walked up to me and smiled.

"So you finally made it, yeah? What're you waiting for? Lets go in!" He said. We walked through the front door and went into the elevator.

"Have you seen Lillie here? I thought I told her to wait outside..." The Professor asked as we rode the elevator.

"Oh, yeah. She was at the front entrance with Nebby earlier. She went inside the lab already." I answered him.

"I had Lillie wait for you so that she could bring you inside, but I guess that didn't really work... You guys seemed to get along so well, so I thought a familiar face would be nice for you.I see you guys together so much after all, Haha!" Kukui nudged me with his elbow playfully.

"Heheh, um, yeah...." I said. I could feel my face warm up. Together...

The elevator doors opened with a ding. We walked into the lab, and saw Lillie talking a tan woman with white hair and a tank top, wearing what looked like a scuba suit unzipped half way and tied around her waist.

"Hey there, honey!" Kukui waved. Honey?

"Oh, hi!" The woman with the white hair replied as her and Lillie walked over to us.

"This here's Professor Burnet. She runs the Dimensional Research Lab, yeah... And she's also my wife!" Kukui said.

They're... Married? And Kukui has a... Wife?

I walked up to Professor Burnet, finally being able to see her after such a long time.

I can finally talk to her about what's been going on with Sun...

"Lillie! Its so nice to see you finally!" Burnet exclaimed when she saw me. I walked up to her and gave her a big hug.

"It's so nice to see you, too!" I reply back. We let go of our hug.

"How've you been? Has Kukui been bothering you? Tell me what's happened since we last spoke!" She said, looking giddy to know whats been happening in my life.

"Oh, the Professor hasn't been bothersome at all! I've been watching Sun and Hau go on their island challenge, Nebby has only gotten out of his bag a few times..." I was then cut off by Burnet.

"Oh, Sun! Kukui told me about him! He just moved here, didn't he? Tell me about how he is!" She said, brimming with excitement.

"Oh, um, that, that's actually what I intended to tell you about." I said, blushing a little. Burnet nodded excitedly.

"Sun... He's kind, strong, and he's helped me out with Nebby a lot... In fact-" But before I could finish, I heard Professor Kukui calling from the other side of the room.

"Hey there, honey!" Kukui called out. And right next to him was Sun.

"Oh, hi!" Burnet said, as she walked up to them. I followed her, walking up to them as well.

Kukui then introduced Burnet to Sun.

"You're Sun, right? Lillie told me about you. She said you were the reliable sort." She said. Burnet then proceeded to tell Sun about me... About three months ago....

"Hm? No Hau today?" Burnet asked, turning to Kukui.

"Hau? He's out doing his own thing. But he'll be the real deal someday... He could even become a kahuna, just like old Hala before him!" Professor Kukui said, smiling.

"Anyhow, I brought Sun here because I wanted you to tell him about some of the mysterious phenomena here in Alola." Kukui continued. Burnet nodded in response.

"I'd be happy to! The mysteries of Alola, huh? Then you've got to mean... The Ultra Wormhole!" Burnet said. She then proceeded to explain Ultra Wormholes, and what may lie within them. She went over the legends and folklore of Alola's past, and more.

"We've recorded several known relationships between Pokémon and different in books. You can find them on the bookshelves in this lab." Burnet finished.

"I'll be in my office if you need anything!" She smiled and walked away. Sun then turned and looked at me.

"Can you tell me more about what happened to you three months ago?" He asked me.
