Underlined words will be actual dialogue from the games
The Alola Region. That's where I moved. When I first heard from my mom that we were moving here I thought she was joking. I had heard Alola was a tropical paradise with amazing forests and beaches as far as the eye could see, and rare Pokemon you couldn't find anywhere else. It was exciting to say the least.
And now I'm here, I'm moved into my new house, and all I want to do right now is... sleep in.
"Mwaaawwwrrrrrr!"
And... There's my alarm going off, time to get up.
I get out of my bet and take a nice big stretch. I pet Meowth and look outside my window and see the sun is already high in the sky. I take a glance over at my desk to see my globe and remind myself just how far away I've gone from home.
Enough reminiscing on the past though. Today is the day. I had just turned 15 and I was ready to explore this new region.
I grab the new clothes I bought here in Alola and put them on. A nice blue striped shirt, a pair of water shoes, and ribbed capris. I walk out to greet my mom and maybe even help her unpack our stuff.
"You were out like a light, weren't you? You ought to be full of energy by now!" Says my mom, who's clearly much more full of energy than I am.
"So, Sun... are you pumped to meet some Alolan Pokémon?" She asks.
"Of course! I heard that the Meowth here are completely different from our Meowth!" I exclaim
My mom tells me to get my stuff to prepare to head out soon.
I smile and run back into my room to get my black baseball hat and my nylon bag. New region, new Pokemon, new trainer!
I walk back out to the living area to re-greet my mom.
"Now you look ready for anything!" My mom said happily. I could tell she really was excited to be here, even if my dad couldn't make it over here with us.
"Why don't you head up toward Iki Town and see what you discover in Alola?" She said. I guess I'm on my own then! Hopefully I won't get attacked by a Pokemon on the way.
However just thinking that I knew in the back of my head I probably jinxed myself. Is this a good idea?
I walked straight out of the front door to be met with the Alola region stimulating my senses. Everywhere I looked I saw things full of nature and life, beautiful colors everywhere. The smell of the ocean breeze and the floral scent gave me excitement beyond belief.
This is where I'm living. This is amazing!
I begin to walk down the trail and take in my beautiful surroundings. Is everywhere like this?
I keep walking and walking taking in everything until I can't help but run down the trail.
I accidentally got caught up with a wild Pokemon, and three Pokemon stepped in to save me.
"Hey little guys! Thanks for helping me out! Is your trainer around here?" I asked the three. It didn't really work, though. They just kept jumping on me happily. I guess they just really wanted to protect me.
"Hey there, cousin!" Said a somewhat familiar voice from behind me.
Turning around I see Kukui, the Professor I had video called before moving here, standing there waving with a big smile on his face.

"Hang on, I know you... You're Sun, right?!" He said, seemingly surprised to see me here."You OK? I saw you get attacked like that!"
"Yeah, I got a bit of help." I smile, a little embarrassed he just saw me blindly walk into tall grass with no Pokemon at all.
"Welcome to Alola, the Pokemon paradise! That's what i'm supposed to be saying. I'm Kukui, the Pokemon Professor." He said, reintroducing himself. He continued to talk to me for a bit and talking about how Pokemon and people live together, things like that. I guess this place isn't as different from Kanto as I thought.
"Let me introduce the Pokemon that helped you just now" He said, pointing over to the three Pokemon behind me.
"The Grass-type Rowlet, The Fire-type Litten, and the Water-type Popplio." He said, with each of them showing off a little whenever their name was called.
"One of these Pokemon will become your first partner, woo!" Kukui exclaimed.
My first partner? My very own.. Pokemon?
"Heh... Maybe that's why they wanted to save you?" He said, grinning to himself. "Go on and choose the one you'd like to keep as your partner, cousin!"
I carefully looked at all three of the Pokemon. They all looked so great! I can't just pick one! I kept thinking and thinking until I remembered when they first jumped in front of me. Litten had jumped straight in front of me. I'm not sure why... But I feel maybe that was on purpose.
"I choose... Litten!" I said happily. My first Pokemon! I'm a true Pokemon Trainer!
Litten jumped onto me instantly. I could hear it's purring amidst all of it's excitement.
I picked it up off the ground and raised it into the air.
"We're gonna be partners Litten! Aren't you excited?" I asked it, but I already knew the answer.
"All right! Then lets get going up to Iki Town, Sun. Woo! Truth is, that partner Litten of yours is a from the kahuna, not me. So let's go show it off and say a proper thank- you, cousin. It may not be the only gift you get!" Kukui told me.
We continued to walk down the trail, eventually making it to Iki Town.
"Iki Town is right up here!" Kukui said. I looked up at the big arch in front of me and before I could fully see the entrance, a boy with a black shirt and orange shorts comes running down the stairs and right up to me.
"Hey, hey! Which Pokémon are you gonna choose as your partner? Have you decided? Oh yeah! I'm Hau! I couldn't wait for us to pick our partners together, so I came to find you myself!" He said, talking so fast i couldn't really keep up with what he was saying. I could tell he was about to say something else pretty fast, but he saw my Litten at my side.
"Hey, wait! You already picked your Pokemon?!" He said, confused. He was just as confused as I was about him.
"Sorry about that, Hau. We had a little accident on the way here, so I ended up letting Sun choose his partner first without you. But you can choose one of these two, Hau!" Kukui said, putting his hand on the back of his head embarrassed.
"Fair enough. I guess it was just fate for you guys to meet!" He said, totally understanding of the situation.
"Then my partner will be... Rowlet! I choose you!

Alola, friend! I'd decided ages ago that you're the one I wanted to have an adventure with!"
"All right then. Everybody! Time to get back in your balls for now!" Kukui said, but was soon cut off by Hau.
"Wait up! Me and Rowlet have a favor to ask." Hau turned towards me and looked me in the eye."Be our opponents in our first ever Pokemon Battle together!"
I smiled. My first Pokemon battle! This is going to be exciting.
"Smiling huh? I'll take that as a yes! All right! I'm seriously gonna enjoy this!" Hau exclaimed.
We stood back facing each other, both Pokemon in front of us.
The two Pokemon fought, with Litten having the type advantage. We made quick work of Hau's Rowlet, knocking it out.
The battle ended with Rowlet fainted and Litten the victor.
Litten jumped onto me all happy, but it kind of hurt with its sharp claws...
"Whoa! That was awesome, Sun! You and Litten were both so cool! You've gotta have the kinda battles where everyone has fun. You and your partner Pokémon, too, you know? Hau said, totally unphased by the fact that he just lost his first battle.
"You should totally check out Iki Town!" Hau exclaimed. Hau has such a carefree personality it seems. I wonder if he is always this carefree?
We walked up the stairs of the entrance, finally in Iki Town.
"And we're here! This right here is Iki Town! This town is where folks come to worship the Pokémon that watches over Melemele Island. Tapu Koko keeps us all safe and happy, see! Looks like the kahuna's nowhere to be found, though..." Kukui said, seemingly a little worried.
"Hey, I've got an idea for you, Sun. If you head through the village and up the hill, you can visit the ruins that belong to Tapu Koko. That's our island's guardian deity, yeah. Why don't you go and introduce yourself? If you're real lucky, maybe you'll actually get a glimpse of the guardian deity yourself!" Kukui said. Guardian Deity? Is it a Legendary Pokemon? I guess I'll go see it, and maybe I will see this Tapu Koko. This time, ill have a Pokemon that'll help me out.
I take the entrance at the back of the town to the ruins to a well carved pathway. The path is sort of long but it's nice and isolated. I could hear the trees blowing and the wind and the distant calls of different Pokemon. Alola is nice.
I continue walking on the path to the end. As I climb the last few stairs I see something ahead of me... No.. Someone. I get closer and can finally make out a figure clearly.
I see a girl, about the height of me. She has long blond hair and is wearing a white dress with a big white sunhat. She seemed about my age, and was carrying a very big bag next to her waist. Why would she need such a big bag? Why isn't she moving... No... She's... Trembling?
I walk up to her to check if she's ok, but she must've heard my footsteps. She turns around and looks at me in the eye. She... looks so pretty. and cute. Pretty cute? But then I notice something's off. She looks terrified.
"What's wrong?" I ask, almost scarred of what's happening.
"H-help... Save Nebby!" She pleads to me. I look on the bridge to see a group of Spearow circling a Pokemon. I'm... I'm not sure what came across me. The moment I heard her... I had to do something.
Lillie's POV, seconds earlier.
"I know! I know. I'll take you to the ruins. So, please stay in the bag. We could get in trouble if anyone sees you." I said to Nebby. He is always such a troublemaker, but for some reason he is very fond of the ruins on the islands.
Just as we finished climbing the last steps, Nebby decided to pull me by the bag to the ruins himself!
This ended in him escaping the bag once more. He began to wander across the bridge all alone! A flock of Spearow then came down and began attacking him! Everything started to happen so quick... I... I couldn't do anything.
The creaky old plank bridge... the Spearow... I can't do this... I...
Thats when I heard footsteps behind me... I thought of the worst possibility... it could be my mother, or an Aether employee... But then I thought perhaps it could be Professor Kukui, or even Mr. Hala...
I turned around to find that none of my predictions were correct. It was... A Boy. A trainer! A trainer who could help me!
"What's wrong?" He asked me. I was so scared for Nebby, I could feel myself shaking, but i had to tell him, I needed him to help Nebby!
"H-help... Save Nebby!" I begged him. He looked at me, then at Nebby. He nodded and leaped towards the bridge, sprinted towards Nebby.
Sprinting...? On a bridge this high up? He's so... Confident. It's like he could do anything right now. He's... the opposite of what I am... I could never even walk on that bridge, let alone sprint. I wish... Maybe one day I'll be as confident as he is...
He ran over to Nebby and began using his own body to shield it from the Spearow! And then... Nebby began to glow, just like it had 3 months ago.
Instantly, the middle of the bridge exploded! Both Nebby and the boy I only just met were now about to fall into the river below.
However before they could hit the water the Guardian Deity, Tapu Koko, appeared.
Tapu Koko then swooped in and saved both the boy and Nebby, dropping them next to me.
The Tapu then just stood there, staring at us for a few seconds before launching back into the sky. I just stood in awe for a little bit before remembering about Nebby. I turned around and began to scold him once more.
"You tried using your power again...didn't you? Oh, Nebby... You know what happened last time you used it. You couldn't move for ages after that. I don't want to see you like that again!" I said, but realizing that, 3 months ago was a different situation for me and Nebby.
"No... I shouldn't say that. I'm sorry, Nebby... I know you were trying to save me that time... And I couldn't even help you in return..." I said, sadly. All I've been able to do is hide from people and keep Nebby in a bag in hopes that nobody sees him. But it never really works out...
From the corner of my eye I see something shimmering, almost giving off it's own light.
A sparkling...stone? I pick it up off the ground.
It feels almost warm somehow... It must have been left by the Tapu for... Him.
I turn towards him, and I finally get a good look at his face.
He looks at me with a small smile on his face. Confidence radiates from him.. Almost like the sun. He looks so... Oh, I think he noticed me staring.
"P-Please forgive me... I am so grateful to you for helping us out of that dangerous spot. I'm... I'm Lillie. And i suppose...This stone must belong to you." I say, handing him the sparkling stone and hoping he forgets my nervousness.
"Please... Don't tell anyone about this... About seeing Nebby... It's...it's a secret, OK? Come on. Into the bag, Nebby." I said to him. He still looked a bit confused, but nodded in agreement.
I began to walk down the trail but, couldn't help but worry for Nebby. I turned back around.
"Um... I'm worried we might get attacked again by some or...or something. I know it's too much for me to ask it, but... Do you think you could see us back to town?" I asked him.
"Oh! Uh, sure! I needed to go back anyways. Not much to see here anymore." He answered. That's right... He must've come to see the ruins as well.
We walked the trail back together, but didn't really talk much. It was a bit awkward, but in this silence I studied him a bit more. He looked, well how do I say it... looking at him just was so calming to me, his face had a warmth to it.
He turned to look at me and I turned back forward as quickly as possible. I could feel my face warm up a bit in my embarrassment.
Did he see me looking? Is he looking at me now? Is he still looking?!
Before anything more could happen though, I saw the exit of the trail to Iki Town. I saw Kukui , who was right at the exit to greet us
"Oh! Sun! You already met Lillie, huh? She's my assistant, yeah!" Kukui called to us. We walked up onto the stage-esque platform in the middle to meet him.
Sun. So that's his name. I guess I had told him mine but he never gave me his... What a lovely name... I'll have to remember it.
"Lillie, I thought you were with the kahuna?" Kukui asked.
"Kahuna Hala? He said that he had something to attend to, so he left town on his own. I was just, um, taking a little stroll up Mahalo Trail while I waited for him to return..." I said, before being abruptly cut off but Kukui.
"And that's how you met our new neighbor Sun, huh?" He said, turning to face Sun.
"He just got to Alola Yesterday. Help him find his way around, yeah?"
"So...you're also one of the professor's acquaintances? It's nice to meet you." I said, glad I could finally properly greet him.
"It's nice to meet you too!" he replied, waving his hand and giving me a big smile.
"Did I miss something?" Said the Kahuna, a large man who always wore a big yellow robe and blue shirt.
"There you are, Kahuna Hala! Was there some kind of trouble?" Kukui asked
"Ahaha! Just got caught up in the middle of some brawling Rockruff, that's all!" Hala answered. "Sorry, Lillie. What were you saying before? For some reason I thought I saw Tapu Koko flying about..." He continued.
The Kahuna is quite observant...
I explained how Sun almost fell into the river trying to protect Nebby, but was saved by Tapu Koko.
Tapu Koko itself came to save Sun. Is there something special about Sun? Even Kahuna Hala noticed the Tapu's interest in Sun.
"Kukui, my boy, I think we have cause to celebrate! Looks like we have a brave and kind new Pokémon Trainer in our midst!" Hala exclaimed.
Both Hala and Sun exchanged their greetings, as well as laughs with each other.
"Pew!"
I turn around to see Nebby, who has got out of the bag again!
"Oh! When did you get out again? I know that Kahuna Hala and the professor will keep you safe from any harm, but you should still stay in the bag and out of sight. It's safer that way." I tell it. But then I notice Nebby is looking at Sun.
"Nebby, well... It seems to have taken a liking to you." I tell Sun. Sun then crouches down to Nebby and smiles at it. Perhaps he's taken a liking to Nebby too.
"All right, here's a lovely gift from me to help make today special, Sun!" Kukui then handed Sun the Pokedex he had been working on in the lab, as well as a trainer passport.
Sun looked very pleased at what he'd received. Getting his passport must've been full confirmation that Sun officially a trainer. I'd be happy too.
We were all about go home, but Hau ran in to see his grandfather.
Hau and Hala began to banter for a little bit, but then something sparkled in Sun's Bag. The kahuna noticed this, and questioned Sun.
"Hm? Sun... Would you be so kind as to give me a look at that sparkling stone you have there?" Sun complied and handed him the stone.
"You were rescued by Tapu Koko at the bridge-isn't that what I heard, Sun?" Hala asked.
"Thats right, it dropped the stone when it rescued me and Nebby." Sun replied.
"So it even deigned to give you a stone..."Hala looked like he was lost in thought for a few seconds. "Perhaps you are here in Alola, Sun, because this is where you are meant to be."
Then Sun also looked lost in thought. Just what kind of trainer is he?
"Allow me to borrow this stone for now." Hala said to Sun.
"But-" Sun tried to say something but was cut off by Hala.
"Fret not! I'll return it to you tomorrow evening."Hala said. Sun looked a bit relieved but I could tell he was a still a little worried.
"You have the makings of a brilliant Trainer. I can see that light within you, too. You must do us the honor of joining in our festival tomorrow!" Hala said. The festival! I almost forgot about it.
"First I'll make sure you get back home safe today, though, Sun. Lillie, you two should come with us, too, yeah. Wouldn't want to go losing you twice in one day. You or that precious Pokémon of yours!"
"Yes... I will keep an eye on..." I say before hearing Nebby right behind me once more.
"Oh, you! Would you not try to escape the very moment that you were told not to wander off!" Though I scolded him, he always seems very unapologetic...
We began walking out of town, waving bye to Hau and Hala as we exit.
"Oh! Uh, Lillie!" I hear from behind me. I turn to see Hau still standing there.
"I, uh, wanted to know, if, um... nevermind!" He said, instantly turning around with his head down. Hala pat him on the back.

8 105Falling for a Star (Complete)
I had never paid much attention to celebrity gossip or what was going on in Hollywood because that was so far from the lifestyle I lived as a poor college student, working as a barista to save up for my own house after graduation. But then, without my knowledge, my Dad submitted my name into a talk show sweepstakes to win a week with Hollywood superstar Dylan Chase, to see what it's like to live like a celebrity for a week. My Dad thought it would be the perfect chance for me to get out of Iowa, see the world and have an adventure for once. I was dreading leaving home, flying for the first time and going by myself all the way to L.A. Plus the idea of spending a week with an arrogant, rich, snobby actor that was probably the worst kind of womanizer didn't sound like my idea of fun. What I found when I got there and met Dylan was the total opposite; a man that was humble, hard working, easy to talk to, and down to earth. Spending a week in Paradise in the guest house of Dylan Chase's Malibu mansion right on the beach, attending a movie premiere on his arm, shopping on Rodeo Drive and eating at five star restaurants was like a dream come true, but sleeping in his bed and falling for a guy from a completely different world than me was never part of the plan because we could never end up together.
