Y/n's pov

After we had left the throne room, I could tell that something was wrong. Melty walked down the hall until we met with a woman who was most likely a shadow. Melty looked back at me "Y/n, I'm sorry about this, but I can't have you listening to the discussion between us, could you go elsewhere?" I nodded "very well Princess, there is something I must do" Melty frowned and nodded as she and the woman walked away. I looked over at one of the poles, seeing a knight hidden behind it. I frowned and walked away, heading out of the castle and to a nearby tavern that the Sword and Bow hero go to regularly. Once inside I looked around until I saw them sitting at a table talking. I walked over and stood by the table, causing them to look up at me. The bow hero spoke first "oh, it's you. Are you here to join one of our parties?" I sighed "No, however I am here to ask for your help" The sword hero frowned "why should I help you?" I pulled out a chair and sat down in it "you don't have to accept. I am just asking for some assistance in regards to something that is going to happen tomorrow that may put the crown princess in danger." The sword hero frowned more "alright, tell me what you need help with exactly." I looked around to make sure no one would be listening "Alright, outside of town tomorrow morning, the princess is going to try to talk to the Shield hero to try to get him to apologize to the king. I have reason to believe that someone is going to attempt to assassinate the princess and frame it on the shield hero or me" The sword hero frowned but nodded. "What do you need my help for then?" I took out a recording orb from my my inventory, making it look like i took it out of my armor "i need you to use this to record the events that happen tomorrow. from a distance of course. If my assumption is correct, even if I protect the princess, they will make it look like I'm the bad guy" He nodded and took the orb from me "Alright, but why me? couldn't you do it yourself." "If they are going to try to blame me, whatever proof I have is useless. If they manage to blame me and the shield hero, then I at least know that someone knows what actually happened. Of course, in that case I would need you to keep the recording to yourself and the Bow hero, since no one else can be trusted." The sword hero stared at me "what about Motoyasu?" "the spear hero is under the thumb of the first princess, She isn't trust worthy, so Motoyasu cannot be trusted either." He nodded "alright, I will help you" I nodded "In the event that I end up an outlaw due to the events, I want you to act how you normally would act. Even if it means attacking me, understood?" He nodded and I got up, leaving the tavern.

The next morning, I was driving a wagon with Melty besides me. Melty was having me locate Naofumi before he got to far away from the capital. Despite what I had said about being Melty's personal guard, there was a legion of knights that were following behind. I frowned as we approached Naofumi's wagon and I stopped the wagon. Melty Jumped down from her spot and I followed behind her, holding my chains at the ready. Melty tried speaking with Naofumi to convince him to go back and apologize, however Naofumi refused. As Melty continued to try to convince him, one of the knights that were following us, pulled out his sword and charged at Melty. I positioned myself in the way, allowing the sword to slash into my shoulder, stopping it from hitting Melty. "What do you think you are doing! Attacking the princess like this?" Melty stepped back into Naofumi, shocked as blood had sprayed down from my wound. The knight glared at me but smirked and ran back towards the other knights "They are attacking. quickly, retreat!" Naofumi sent Filo to stop some of them, however they acted as if they were being killed. One guard holding an orb ran away, escaping before they could be stopped, however Filo, Raphtalia, and Rifana managed to stop the others. I sighed and sat on the ground, looking at the sword in my shoulder. Melty rushed back over to me "y/n! are you okay?" I sighed and looked at her "yeah... Just peachy" Rifana came over to me while Naofumi was dealing with the knights that were awake and tried helping with the injury by pulling the sword out. I frowned as the wound started bleeding more. "Rifana.... For future reference. wait till you have something to stop the bleeding before you pull out a weapon" My vision faded and I began passing out, hearing my name being called out before I fell completely unconscious.

When I woke up, I was laying down in a wagon, staring up at the white cloth that covers the storage area. I sat up slowly and looked around. The wagon was stopped somewhere and there were voices outside it. I looked down and noticed bandages were wrapped around my shoulder, and the wound was mostly healed. I sighed, looking around. I saw Filo, Rifana, and Melty sitting at a fire while Raphtalia was sitting at the edge of the wagon. Raphtalia looked over at the bushes "Naofumi-sama." Naofumi walked over to her and spoke "How did it go?" Raphtalia looked down "The altered footage has made it's way to the nearby towns and villages. It would be too risky to go into them now" Naofumi sighed "I see" He took out a pendant of the three hero church and stared at it. "isnt that?" Naofumi nodded. Raphtalia stared at him "What was that about?" "Dunno, but it's probably another one of the king's schemes." He looked over at Melty and continued talking "Thanks to her stupid dad, we're stuck here with nowhere to go" Melty stood up and looked at the shield hero, angrily "My father can't be behind this." Naofumi stared down at her "Who else could've ordered it?" Melty looked down "My sister probably" Naofumi walked over to the fire "So she's trying to kill you and take your place as crown princess? But the knight who attacked you are under the King's direct control, Right? It'd be natural to assume he's in on this. Knowing them, They want to frame 'the Devil of the Shield' for this whole plot, huh?" Melty responded "Father would never!" Naofumi stared at her "What makes you so sure?" Melty gripped her dress "because father is...." Naofumi looked away from her "Why stick up for a scumbag like him?" Naofumi walked away and Melty spoke out "You're wrong" Filo looked over at Melty concerned, but Melty spoke out louder "You're wrong! Why won't either of you understand? This is no time to be fighting among yourselves! Talk to Father one more time!" Naofumi ignored her, walking away. Raphtalia stood up and walked beside them "Naofumi-sama..."

Melty covered her face, turning and crying onto Filo "I... I can't face Mother like this!" Filo lifted her arms, looking down at Melty "Don't cry, Mel-chan. I'm here for you" Melty cried onto Filo until she calmed down. Once she had finished, Naofumi had returned. Filo looked up at him "oh, Master. Welcome back" Melty looked at him before turning her head away. Naofumi stopped in front of her "Listen. We're going to leave the country. What will you do?" Melty looked up a bit and spoke "I'll return to the capital and talk to Father-" She was interupted by Naofumi "Bad idea. If you went back now, you'd only get yourself killed. But if you decide to stay with us, I'll keep you safe." Naofumi walked over to the wagon and looked into the stuff at the edge "I can promise you that, if nothing else" Filo looked at Melty "Come with us Mel-chan" Melty nodded and Naofumi spoke up "we leave before dawn. Make sure you're ready." Raphtalia looked at Noafumi "Where are we headed Naofumi-sama?" Naofumi stood up straight "I've already got a place in mind" I sighed from where I sat "I guess I don't have a choice in this matter." Naofumi looked over at me and frowned "How long have you been up" "Since you started blaming the king" Rifana jumped up from where she was sitting and ran over, hugging me "Master Y/n! You're okay!" I groaned in pain. "I might not be if you hug any tighter" She let go of me and looked down "Sorry" I gently pet the top of her head "it's fine Rifana, I know you were worried" Melty walked over as well "Y/n.... I'm sorry you got hurt because of me" I looked down at her before patting her head as well "don't worry about it Melty. I'm the one that decided to be your guard."

The next morning we are all hiking up a hill, we had to leave the wagon behind in order to get over the mountains. Filo had been upset since we had to leave the wagon behind, however Naofumi reminder her that they could just go back for it once everything had settled down. As we traveled across the mountains, we had to hide behind stones and bushes in order to avoid getting seen by any of the soldiers that were searching around for our group. We eventually took a break at a small cave like structure on top of one of the mountain tops. We set up a small camp in order for us to get sleep, Filo fell asleep almost immediately, leaning up against Melty. Melty had been staring down at a locket with a drawing of her Father and what I assume to be her mother. After a while, she looked up at Naofumi and spoke. "Tell me something. What happened between you and Father?" Naofumi frowned and looked over at Melty, beginning to explain the events that had happened to him since he had been summoned. The first princess accusing him of rape, the attempt to take Raphtalia away from him, and the other many order the king set up in order to keep Naofumi and his party from getting stronger. Melty listened and after Naofumi had finished, she frowned and spoke in disbelief. "what? but Mother said to treat the Shield Hero well..."

Naofumi looked at Melty and spoke up "Come to think of it, I've heard nothing about your mom." Melty stared down at the fire "She's the queen of this country" "the queen?" Melty looked at Naofumi "that means she's higher than Father in the pecking order." Naofumi seemed to be ecstatic to hear that "the queen is more powerful?" Melty closed her eyes, smiling "Melromarc is a matrilineal monarchy" Naofumi laughed "You mean that king married into the royal family?" Melty looked at him "What's so funny?" Naofumi spoke, smirking "He acts like he owns the world" Melty spoke, pouting "So what if he married into the family?!" Naofumi laughed as he spoke "but he's adopted royalty?" I sighed and pat Melty's head to calm her. Naofumi looked out of the cave and frowned "Let's get going."

We continued walking along the lower ledges of the mountains, just out of sight of the usual trails people would take. avoiding sight of the Soldiers that seemed to be everywhere still. We walked silently all day, until we neared the end of the day, walking along a thin path a little ways off a cliff. Soldiers were walking just above us so we had to be extremely careful not to make any noises. Eventually Naofumi found that the soldiers had blocked off the path ahead so we had to backtrack. However, as we turned around, a piece of the path broke under Melty, causing her to let out a noise of panic. I caught her before she could fall, however the noise she had made caused the soldiers to notice us. Noafumi had us running over to an area that looked like a natural bridge, however it ended up being a dead end off a cliff. We looked back and saw the other 3 heroes approaching in front of the legion of soldiers. The bow hero spoke up "There's nowhere left to run. you're surrounded. Cease your resistance and release Princess Melty at once. Naofumi put his hands at his waist and spoke " 'Release'? It's not like I have her tied up." Motoyasu spoke up "Quit lying. We have all the proof we need." Melty spoke up, putting a hand over her chest "Heroes, I'm perfectly fine, as you can see. The Shield Hero and my guard have kept me safe." I looked at the sword hero and he gave a slight nod to me before speaking up "Hang on. Didn't Naofumi abduct you?" Melty looked at him "A dastardly plot was behind all this. I asked him to take me and protect my life. What could the Shield Hero possibly stand to gain by abducting me? The queen told me... This is the time for all of us to work together and thwart the catastrophes. Our world cannot withstand any further pointless conflicts! Please put your weapons away." Naofumi spoke up after her "As she says, this is a setup. I'll tell you everything I know. so-" He was cut off my the first princess shouting over him "You mustn't listen to him! That devil possesses a brainwashing shield, That accursed shield lets him take over one's mind just by talking to them." Raphtalia spoke up "Wha.. Who would believe such a lie?" Malty stepped up in front of the heroes, putting her hands on her hips "the Three Heroes Church has found that heretics who worship the Shield have started popping up in the past month" Naofumi mumbled something under his breath before Malty pointed a finger at him "The Devil of the Shield called himself 'The Savior of the Heavenly Fowl' and went around brainwashing innocent people!" Melty frowned "sister?" Malty put on a fact smile and clasped her hands together "Melty, you poor thing! I see the Devil of the Shield has already brainwashed you."

The idiot hero stepped forward with a smile "I see! Then Raphtalia-chan, Filo-chan, and that other innocent girl were really brainwashed by Naofumi too." Raphtalia spoke up "You're wrong! We've not been brainwashed!" Naofumi stared at them "IF my shield had an ability like that,we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with!" The sword hero frowned as he spoke "But there's no guarantee that it doesn't. Do you have any proof to convince us? Naofumi, Hand over the second princess and her guard. I promise you they wont be harmed in any way." Naofumi frowned "Well, if we can avoid fighting, that might be for the best." Malty smirked and spoke, putting herself up against the sword hero "You're absolutely right, Ren-sama! Melty's safety comes first!" Melty stared at her sister in horror, grabbing onto my arm tightly. Malty spoke up again, holding out her hand "Come now. Let's go home together." Melty looked down "No... If i go back, I'll be killed!" Naofumi looked down at Melty before looking back at the other heroes.

Malty smirked, continuing to speak "Come now, to me" Melty gripped my arm tighter and pulled on Naofumi's cape "Please! Help me!" Naofumi put his hand over her's, causing her to let go as he stepped forward and stuck his arm out in front of her. "Ren, I appreciate your offer, but I don't trust that woman with the second princess." Ren spoke out "What do you mean?" Naofumi looked over to Raphtalia, who whispered to Filo and Rifana. Malty shouted out "what are you talking about? Melty is my dear sister. I-" Naofumi cut her off "You want to be crown princess so badly that you're willing to kill your sister? You'll say you're undoing the 'brainwashing' and kill her when nobody's looking. I bet that's what you're planning!" Naofumi spoke quietly to Melty "I did promise to keep you safe." Naofumi shouted out to Filo, who immediately transformed into her bird form and attempted to carry us all away, however Motoyasu threw something at Filo that latched onto her leg and caused her to transform back, making us fall onto the cliffs bellow while filo was stuck above. Motoyasu walked over to Filo while Malty shot a signal spell up into the air "I've called reinforcement, It's pointless for you to run!" Motoyasu grabbed onto Filo and held her close shouting out "Filo-chan!" Filo struggled to get away "L-Let go of me! h-huh my strength is gone!" Motoyasu kept hold of her "I had the royal alchemist make this so you could stay an angel forever." Melty did a chant and launched a water attack next to Motoyasu's head "I wont miss next time! Unhand FIlo-chan!" Malty launched a fireball at Melty suddenly, which Naofumi blocked with his shield.

The bow hero yelled out "Myne! Are you trying to kill Princess Melty?!" Malty called back "She's the one who attacked first." She continued to launch fire spells down at Melty, all being blocked by Naofumi. Ren yelled out at her as she drank a potion "What are you doing! stop it now!" Malty pointed a hand down at Melty "If we can't undo her brainwashing, She'll have to die!" Naofumi began to activated his rage shield to protect Melty as Malty created a large fireball. I Gripped onto my chains as I felt anger build up inside me. I looked over at Filo to see Motoyasu approaching with a perverted look on his face. My anger began to overflow as I slipped my ring off and put it on Naofumi. He looked at me "What are you!" I pushed him back, closer to Melty as I felt my anger rising more. A single red notification filling my vision [Sin Series: Wrath. force activated. synchronization incomplete, 98%.]. I let out a scream of anger as the ground under me began shaking, my chains turning a dark red color as fire surrounded me. The end of my chains turned into a spike ball, that I launched into Motoyasu, knocking him away from Filo. "I WILL NOT LET YOU HURT THEM!" Filo quickly ran away, over to Naofumi as a soldier shot my shoulder with an arrow. I glared up at Malty as she spoke "The Devil of the Shield has completely brainwashed Melty's guard. we have to kill him!" My vision faded and my head hung down as a messages filled my sight once again, [Sin series: Wrath is at full synchronization, drawback removed. personality will begin permanent symbiosis] [Sin of Wrath] unlocked [Sin of Wrath] automatically activated. [Spirit of Wrath: auto pilot activated]

Spirit of Wrath's pov

I lifted my head as I let my chains unravel at my feet, the arrow lodge in my soldier evaporating into nothing as my gaze focuses on the soldier in front of me "Heheheh, you imbeciles really need to think before you act!" My chains moved seemingly on their own, like at snake, to the soldier that shot me, wrapping around him and crushing him till he passed out. Then the chains rag-dolled him around, knocking the other archers down before they could fire arrows. soldiers with swords charged at me, attempting to slash me, but I kicked them back into each other, sending them flying into the cliff side. I laughed as my chains coiled back around my arm. Once the spike ball was in my hand I looked up at the many soldiers getting ready to charge. "my time here is already coming to an end. Such a shame, I wanted a much longer segment." I slammed the spike ball down into the ground in front of me, destroying the bridge between the soldiers and the group behind me. one of the spikes of the ball went through my hand, but the wound was mended shut as the ball changed back into a regular ball. I closed my eyes as I felt myself fading out of existence for the final time.
