-Y/N POV-

Today was the day I paided respects to my fallen friends, because it was the day they have been killed. The graveyard was nearly empty.... I guess that was to be expected, since people either don't pay respects to their family or they are just too busy with work.

Y/N: ''I hope you enjoy your afterlife my friends you deserve your rest...''

I then went on my way heading to shop for some videogame. When I got inside I was greeted by the cashier that seemed a bit nervous and fanboyed a bit, probably because of this fame bullcrap. I never really asked for fame I just wanted to play against the best of the best who I found out were pretty mediocre and had some hardly noticable flaw, but let's just say some time in a war makes you aware to the less obvious. I bought a few games when one caught my interest... The tale of the forgotten hero... the clerk said he didn't even know that it was in the stock and told me to keep it since there was seemingly no price tag or code. That is when someone started shooting their gun demanding that all people give him their money or expensive items. I dropped to the ground out of my military instinct. I peeked over the counter to see 3 men with guns. I felt like I needed to stop them. So I pulled out my revolver and loaded it with 6 bullets, I nod to the cashier before jumping over the counter and shoot all 3 in their knees with first 3 bullets while the second 3 fly hitting the guns from the 2 out of 3... the third one missed. People were cheering as I focused on trying to dodge. After about five minutes I got distracted by Police sirens giving myself a smile only to look back and see a bullet approaching my skull. After that I fell to the ground closing my eyes after 5 seconds with the last thing heard being Police threatening the Criminals. After I closed my eyes a bright light shined and I found myself with 5 other people in modern clothes surounded by people in cloaks.

Y/N: ''...?''

the 3 seeming cocky ones: Where are we?

Then the one in a green and black hoodie just quietly panicked, until one of the cloaked people Spoke.

???: ''Please Great Heroes help the people of this kingdom from the terror of the catastrophical creatures.''

Y/N: ''I would honoured and happy to help those in great need.''

the guy with the bow: Hold on just a minute you can't exactly summon us out of nowhere and us to fight for your cause

Y/N: ''That is NOT how a true hero would act.'' (Author note:did I also forget to mention how judgemental you can get when you are annoyed?)

the bow look at me with shock and started to think about it.

Y/N: ''if you are a true hero you would fight to help those in need no matter the cost or situation.''

The shield hero seems to give me the look saying 'Atleast you are normal and can act heroic' while the sword,spear and the bow give me the 'I hate you, but I know you tell the truth' look.

The cloaked man: ''Anyway now, if you could please follow me. The king of Melromarc would like to speak to you.''

We were walking up the stairs and reached the throne room. The king welcomed us with opened arms (metaphoricaly). He told each one of us to introduce and I learned the three people who were being difficult are named Ren (the sword hero), Motoyasu (the spear hero), Itsuki (the bow hero). I think that Ren and Itsuki are more reasonable than Motoyasu since he is giving this cocky 'I am better than you' feeling out of him, in my clearest opinion he was maybe prince charming, but he had a mentality of a retarded idiot that is unable to do anything by himself. I was a bit confused when the King skipped the shield hero and before saying my name I pointed that out trying to be as respectfull as I can be. The shield hero then introduced himself as Naofumi Iwatani. I could tell the kind didn't like him from the start, since his face twiched a little before asking Naofumi his name. Mr.Merlomarc told me at last to introduce myself trying to get something out of his mind.

Y/N: ''Y/N L/N, age 20 and I was 3 years in military service.''

After that I recieve suprised looks from everyone probably from being in the military from 17 to 20 years. Although I think almost anyone would be suprised. The king got my hint that I had great fighting experience. We were told to get some rest in the guest rooms and enjoy the rest of the day.

-In the guests room with the other 4 cardinal heroes-

We talked about our past lives and how we got into this world after we found out about being from different worlds and me being question on how come there are 5 heroes when the story talks about 4 cardinal heroes we all eventually played the random anomally card.

Motoyasu: ''I was stabbed by 1 of my jealous girlfriends.''

Y/N: '' 'Of course you were' Somehow that actually doesn't surprise me Two timer.''

The way Ren and Itsuki died was a tiny bit more tragic

Naofumi: ''I didn't die I was summoned here when I found a book about 4 cardinal heroes.''

The trio gives him the stink eye and then waited for me to say how I got here.

Y/N: ''I was in middle of buying videogames when bunch of criminals start robbing everyone. I was trying to delay them before police got there by getting into a 1 vs 3 gun fight. I managed to disarm 2 of them and the last one managed to get a bullet through my head when the Police sirens distracted me.''

Motoyasu doesn't seem very impressed by my death AS IF HIS DEATH WAS ANY BETTER. Ren, Itsuki and Naofumi on the other hand looked...impressed? Naofumi and Ren certainly had rather big admiration for my brave/foolish act. Itsuki knew how reckless that was, but kept a little respectfull look. The Maids appearantly hear about the part of me fighting criminals and when they entered they were taking a quick looks at me. I kind of had a suspicion they as well had some admiration. They brought us a dinner which was DELICOUS, until now I was used to buying cheap meat and potatoes, ramen and occasionally pancakes, so this was technically my first 5 star restaurant meal. I was stuffed and satisfied with a meal like this I could go for 3 weeks nonstop. After them meal I took about 3 hours exploring my Hud and it's capabilities and going through the info manual and one thing stuck out to me that interested me

Engineer Hero's capabilities

Engineer Hero can use any Legendary and Vassal weapons with minorly weakened state as well as temporary loss of 15% in every stat. note there is no penalty for Engineer hero for working with other heroes.

I must say being able to use Ren's,Itsuki's,Motoyasu's or Naofumi's weapon at will seems kind of OP.

-THE NEXT DAY (spongebob meme)-

I woke up to the realization that what happened was not a dream. I was kind of happy that I would get back into action and fight again, but then again I was a little worried that I would too attached to people of this world and be too emotional about their death. When I got to the common room I was greeted by the 4 heroes, 2 maids. We were escorted to the dinning hall.

Naofumi: ''Where are all the guards??''

Maid: ''The King has decided to clear out the dinning hall of anyone until the heroes eat their morning meals.''

Y/N: ''He shouldn't have.... it is a honor, but nobody should be kept from their meal just, because someone is having their meal before them and especially not guards who work all day to protect the Castle.''

I looked at the maids and soldiers to see'' their faces filled with various emotions that even I have a hard time to read. After the Breakfast we were call into the throne room to sort out the whole companion thing and to recieve money to get started with our main objective: Get strong enough to face the waves of catastrophy.

When our companions were set. I saw that Motoyasu had the most followed by Itsuki having just a bit less Ren having even less to Me and Naofumi having none. The king didn't seem to be surprised, even a happy having a barely noticable smile, when looking at Naofumi. I took note of that the king didn't either like Naofumi personally or he overall despised the shield hero. I saw a redhaired lady walk up to him with an offer to join his party. Which surprised Naofumi and angered Motoyasu a little, but tried to keep his mouth shut. I had a gut feeling that there is an evil motive to why she joins his party other than the shield being unable to fight well on his own.

Me, Motoyasu, Ren and Itsuki recieved 500 silver coins, while Naofumi recieved 1000 silver which was understandable knowing that I can handle myself in a fight and the 3 starter skills and a Shotgun. We took our leave with me heading instantly for monsters to hunt without any really special equipment except my Legendary weapons. I must say that it is wierd that I can feel with things with my mechanical arm. In the past I had problem with regulation of my strength so I gave handshakes with my good arm so I wouldn't accidentaly crush someones bones. It felt nice to use my right hand without a problem once again.

I was farming balloons until I got to level 6. My hand absorbed some materials unlocking some shotguns and hands.

After that I moved through the forest collecting some other materials... mostly plants and various types of wood. I also encountered some monsters that gave me material my weapon could later make. I was exploring until sun was right about me signaling me that it was lunch time. I started a quick campfire and cooked some meat from monsters I hunted down. I knew I could go for long without a meal, but didn't want to take the risk. I recieved the Cooking skill when I accidentaly absorbed some of the cooked meal in my weapon and later even some herbs.

I later found abandoned mines that brought me alot of interest. I looked, if someone was there or left any equipment I could use. I managed to find a rope and a pickaxe in a decent state. I absorbed both and created copies just in case someone returned and would be looking for the equipment.

I found some ore that would maybe bring alot of profit, if sold to right person, but then I was ambushed by a level 15 two headed dog. I maybe was level 10, but I knew I could take him on with the right approach. I used grappling hook to pull myself to the ceiling and then use my harpoon to hit the dog and hang him in the air and wait for it to either die or pass out. It took freaking 2 hours of waiting for it to bleed out till it passed out. I threw it back on the ground and finished it off with a few well placed hits.

When I left the Cave I was packed with various materials and alot of monster meat,skin and bones. As I was getting near the city the daylight slowly faded. Luckly I had enough time to sell my spoils of battle and find a decent inn and it just so happened to be the same inn Naofumi and that lady were staying at. I didn't trust her one bit, if war taught me anything it is that trust needs to be earned and the way she acted didn't give a single thought of giving her the smallest bit of trust I have, so I just ate my meal and went to bed quickly without anyone noticing me.

I hid all my belongings in a lose floorboard, since I didn't want to take my chances. I then explored some options I had in my legendary weapon and when I checked my stats I was suprised by one passive skill: monster taming level 1, monster whisperer level 1 and Dragon hourglass hand (allows user to preform class upgrades outside of the churches or dragon hourglass spots.)

Y/N: ''ok I am really starting to think my Legendary weapon is way too OP, because if class upgrades are what I think they are then oh boy do I wish to keep this under the wraps...''

I then heard Naofumi and the girl who's name was appearently Myne. I heard then saying goodnight to eachother and when Naofumi closed his doors and she walked past my room I swear I heard a evil giggle. After I heard her enter a room I left going through the city thinking of how to help Naofumi tommorow indirectly, until this Short guy in fancy clothes and devilish grin walks in front of me.

???: ''Well well well look who the devils bring outside. Why so puzzled Hero?''

Y/N: ''It is rude to walk in front of someone and not introduce yourself first, but since you already did it might as well introduce now. My name is Y/N L/N and I have to say that I wouldn't call myself hero yet.''

???: ''Why not? You do wield a legendary weapon Mr.Y/N .''

Y/N: ''Being a hero is not about wielding a legendary weapon or having unstoppable power. I say that what makes a hero and a villain are their choices and actions, but who am I to say anything. I heard one time person say ''everyone is a hero of their own story.'', those who see you as a hero aren't the ones to choose the path you will go, that my friend is choice that depends only on your own choice.''

???: ''You do have a point and are a gentleman who deserves respect for his words..... You may call me Beloukas and you could say I am your everyday humble slave merchant.''

Y/N: ''Pleasure meeting you is my side... If you truly are a slave merchant then you probably earned yourself not one, but two good customers.''

Beloukas: ''Ah you know someone who might me interested my wares?''

Y/N: ''If my suspicions are correct and they mostly are Tomorrow the Shield hero be very annoyed and full of anger. Confront him at night and you persuade him to buy one of your slaves. He will for sure pick someone who is cheap and barely stands, after you show him your strongest monster. As for me I will also visit you tomorrow to see your wares.''

Beloukas: ''I will entrust my hope in your foresight Mr.Y/N and I promise you my 'merchandise' will not disappoint you.''

I took a last look at his toothy grin before nodding and heading back to my room at the inn to go sleep.

-the next day-

As expected I was woken up by soldiers banging on Naofumi's door. I took my belongings and waited for the guards to leave, even if it felt like I was leaving Naofumi on the spot. The innkeeper promised not to tell anyone I was there, even if it was the royal guard, so leaving without being noticed. I ran to another part of the city far enough to rid anyone of suspicion I was at the so called 'crime scene' then I let a few guards catch me and I am told to head to the castle. When I arrive there I was to last one to appear.

Y/N: ''Forgive me King Melromarc for being late I was on the very end of the city walls when I was Informed to head here.''

King Melromarc: ''I understand Hero and I forgive you for being late. Now that all the heroes are here we can talk about the reason of your sudden arrival...''

Then Myne who turned to be the Princess Malty Melromarc and the King went on a accusation of how Naofumi raped the princess that night. I didn't say anything, because I didn't want to be on kings bad side as well. After Naofumi look at each of us hoping we would trust him I gave him a sympathetic look. He was angered by it yet he understood why I did it. All heroes know how good foresight and expression reading was. So after Naofumi left with anger in his heart. and we were out of eye reach and hearing range of the kings guards. Ren and Itsuki asked me.

Ren: ''Was Naofumi telling the truth? When he said he didn't do it?''

Itsuki: ''I have a feeling that he actually did it, but we wanted to ask the one who could tell if it was a lie without using magic.''

Y/N: ''Seeing from how desperate Naofumi acted in the throne room to an untrained eye it would seem like he lied, but if you took a little longer look you could see that he was desperate to prove the truth and the fact that the Princess was acting smug behind your backs is also pointing to the princess being the liar, but I am not going to point fingers just yet. The reason I did not intervene is in case I am wrong I don't want to get on king's bad side.''

Ren and Itsuki seemed convinced by my statement. Thank god I don't have to tell them about me being at the same inn. After that I again went to explore the world and get stronger. by the sunset I jumped to level 19 earned alot of upgrades for my legendary weapon and it's skills.

I told myself that I would visit Beloukas and wait for Naofumi there. You knew that his shop was probably set up in a dark alley loooking like a circus judging from his clothing style. It took me a while, but I managed to find Beloukas's tent/shop and he was patiently waiting for the time he was going to leave to confront the shield hero.

Beloukas: ''Ah Mr.Y/N it is pleasure to see you again. Are you going to wait here for the shield hero before you look at my merchandise or do you want to look at it before he gets here.''

Y/N: ''Likewise Beloukas and I think I will wait for the shield hero, I would like to not lose the element of suprise so early.''
