Really short chapter ahead. You have been forewarned!!. Enjoy!

The next day was somewhat okay. We talked, though not like a normal couple, considering the circumstances in which this marriage came to be but it was fine. He wasn't being ignored and I wasn't getting hate-filled stares anymore, so yeah. We were okay. I woke up to find him at the table glasses perched at the bridge of his nose, staring intently at the Mac Book. He had always looked mouthwatering with glasses on but I wasn't going to tell him that. I got out of bed and walked to the table, sitting opposite him. I grabbed the coffee pot by him and poured myself a steaming cup, sipping on it daintily while watching him. There was just something about him being so serious that pulled me in. Maybe it was the way his forehead creased in confusion, or the way he bit his lip when he was thinking too hard, or maybe when he cracked his knuckles when they got too sore. I felt like smiling and crying all at once. Smiling because I was hopelessly, irrevocably in love with this man, from way back when I was 15 till now, my heart had always been his. Crying because I know that no matter what I did, he would never be mine again, he would still hate me. I quickly shifted my gaze in fear of the tears dropping.

"I've called room service. Breakfast will be here soon", he said

I cleared my throat, "Ok"

"We're going to a party. There's a traditional Cuban festival coming soon and one of the locals invited us to a party on his yacht. It's kind of like an opening ceremony"

"Oh. Well ok. What do I wear?", I asked

"Nothing in particular. I mean whatever you wear would be fine", he said

I simply nodded. Breakfast came not long after. And what a mighty breakfast indeed. There was everything from, sausages, poached eggs, oatmeal. The loud growl of my stomach quickly reminded me I never got around to taking dinner last night. So I dug in. I was so busy stuffing my face I didn't realize he was staring.

"I see you still have a weird love for French fries in the morning", he pointed out

I swallowed, "Um yeah. Though I'm surprised they even served it. It's not a traditional breakfast dish", I answered sheepishly.

"I told them to include it. I thought you would like to have something familiar"

I froze. I wasn't going to read much into it. Even though some part of me wanted to jump for joy at the fact that maybe he didn't hate me so much after all. "Thank you". He shut his laptop and turned to leave. "Aren't you gonna eat anything?"

"No. I'm fine", he left.

I don't know exactly what pushed me to do it. I realized only after I had called room service. I could've easily called back and cancelled the order but I didn't want to. I was surely doing it to be on good terms with her. After all, I hadn't exactly made this the most memorable vacation. I needed to get away from her for a while, I needed to think. I got into the en-suite bathroom and took a long relaxing shower. I got out and changed into my outfit for the party. I couldn't risk coming back up here and having to talk to her again. I spritzed on some Hugo Boss and left the room.

"You're leaving?", she asked

"Um...yeah Seb and I have to meet up with the architect and discuss a few building plans, so I might be gone for a while"

She offered me a tight- lipped smile, "Ok then. I guess I'll see you at the party right?"

"Yes. Of course", I swiftly turned around and continued making my way to the lobby. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I don't know why I couldn't shake off the feeling that he was avoiding me. I mean, he ordered breakfast and we had a somewhat civil conversation, short but civil, so things had to be okay right?. I honestly didn't know if I could continue like this. I cleared my head of sad thoughts and sunk into the claw foot bathtub. There was something about soaking in warm, scented, soothing water that just seemed to take my stress away. But I was brought back to cruel reality by the shrill ringing of my phone. I smiled when I saw the caller id.

"Hi Olivia"

"Hey girl, what ya doing?", she squealed

I laughed out, Olivia was a 5-year-old in a 26-year-old's body, "Nothing much just having a good 'ol soak"

"Very important. So I was wondering if you wanted to meet today to go shopping and get some cute clothes for the party later"

I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion, "Party?"

"Yeah, the one Aly and Sebastien were invited to by a local. Alejandro did tell you about it right?", she asked

Barely an hour ago, and I already forgot, "He did Olivia, it just slipped my mind. But I would love to go with you. Come to think of it, I don't think I have anything to wear"

"Oh goody. I thought I was going to have to go through that alone"

"So what time do you wanna meet", I asked

"Just come down to our room when you're done. I'll be waiting"

"Ok. I'll be there". I got out and dried myself. I was really looking forward to the outing with Olivia. At least it was going to take my mind off things between Alejandro and I for a while. I slipped on a short floral-patterned sundress and left the room.

I knocked on the door and not long after, I was pulled in. "Yay. You're here. Lemme just grab my purse and we can get going", Olivia left me in the living room.

"Oh hi Diana"

I looked up to find Sebastien, wasn't he supposed to be with Alejandro meeting the architect?, " Hi Sebastien. What are you doing here?", I asked

He gave me a weird look, " Um, this is my room?"

"Yeah yeah, I mean aren't you supposed to be meeting the architect with Alejandro?", I was quite confused

"No. Who told you that?", he asked

"Alejandro. He said you guys were going to be gone for the whole day"

"Oh no honey. That's not possible considering that the the architect flew back to London last night. But hey it was good talking to you. I'm going to go"

He had lied. Was I really so repulsive that he had to lie just to get away from me?, "Oh, okay then". A few minutes later, Olivia was out.

"Alright D, let's go", she dragged me out

As much fun as shopping with Olivia was, I was bone tired. This girl could shop for the entire continent and still not be tired. You would think after we ended up with 5 bags in each hand, she would give up but turns out we hadn't even seen the other half of the mall.

"Olivia, I appreciate you doing this for me, I really do, but if I take one more step I might just pass out. I mean, who even shops this much?"

She pouted, "Aww but Diana, there's still so much to buy, we haven't even gotten jewelry. Oohh, I know a great spot where...", at the pointed look on my fave, she gave up,"Fine. Let's go". She gave me an annoyed look, at which I just laughed. At least there was something fun about this day.

****************

Sebastien and I had been on the yatch for close to an hour and still no sign of the girls. I was starting to feel anxious. I wouldn't be surprised if they had run off to another club again. Olivia was crazy enough to do it.

"Relax will you?. They're gonna be here", Sebastien tried to reassure me

I gave him a pointed glare, "I am relaxed"

He snorted, " Tell that to the poor waiter you're glaring bullet holes through"

I ignored him. I was already on edge and didn't need him increasing my feelings of unease. I looked around the yatch. The party was in full swing. Alcohol at the ready, vibrant tropical music playing through large speakers and beautiful women everywhere. Of course, several of them had tried to make a move on me, but I couldn't be bothered as there was only one woman occupying my thoughts. Much to my dismay. I looked around some more before falling on a sight that completely took my breath away.

She was gorgeous. Absolutely, positively breathtaking. As much as I tried to control my reaction to the exquisite site in front of me, my body refused to obey. It's like every single nerve in my body was high strung. Attuned to every curve of her body, every perfectly curled strand of her hair, every rise and fall of her breast as she took in deep breaths. I felt hot, really hot. This made no sense as we were on the sea at night, a cool breeze blowing. Things got worse as I felt blood rushing to my nether regions. I quickly turned around and tried to think of anything repulsive. But even as I started calming down, one thought became increasingly clear to me.

I was in trouble. Deep trouble

I looked around nervously. I know I shouldn't have let Olivia convince me to wear this dress but the girl was persistent. Not only was is short and figure-hugging, I has quite a lot of cutouts. Meaning my body was on clear display for the many attendants of the party. I subtly tried to pull it down but Olivia quickly swatted my hand away.

"Would you stop worrying?. You look absolutely gorgeous Diana. I mean people haven't been able to take their eyes of you since you walked in"

"Yeah. Because I'm dressed like a hooker", I gave her a pointed look

She just rolled her eyes, " No, because you have a hot body that is totally working that dress", she let out a tired sigh when she noticed my look of utter disbelief, "All I'm saying is, you're a beautiful woman Diana. Positively exquisite. Own it", she smiled at me. I responded with one of my own.

"Let's find the guys"

Olivia and I walked around for a few minutes before spotting our husbands. She practically ran into Sebastien's arms while I awkwardly walked toward Alejandro. I took the seat next to him and gave him a curt nod.

"So Diana, how are you enjoying your vacation?", Sebastien asked

" It's going well so far. I highly enjoy the environment and exotic cuisine", I answered

"I hope this little lady isn't wearing you out too much", he said while pointing to Olivia who was happily perched on his legs. Olivia responded with an annoyed 'hey', which just made me laugh.

"She's a handful but I couldn't ask for better company"

"Atleast someone appreciates me", she stated. This made me laugh even more. I was brought out of my laughter when the speakers started blasting an upbeat song and all the locals quickly made it to the dance floor. I was even more confused as Sebastien came over and pulled me up from my seat.

"No no no. Sebastien what are you doing?, I don't know how to dance", I pleaded

" Fear not milady. I know enough for the both of us"

"Sebastien I'm gonna embarrass myself and you", I cried

"What better way to be embarrassed than with a stunning woman", he said with a dazzling smile. I didn't have a comeback for that, so I reluctantly let him pull me to the dance floor.

Sebastien was right. He did know enough for both of us. His energy was so contagious that I quickly found myself matching his steps and getting lost in the vibrant rhythm. There was turns and jumps so wild and exhilarating I just couldn't bring myself to care if I looked like a juggling monkey or not. But the song came to an end pretty soon and in it's place, a slow ballad. People on the dance floor started to partner up and Sebastien left me to go dance with his wife. I awkwardly stood in the middle of lovestruck, happy couples, wondering if I should go back to my seat or if I should continue standing there like a statue. My question was answered when I saw an open palm in front of me. Alejandro looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here and I couldn't help but feel my heart break a little more at the stone cold look on his face. I blinked the tears away and tried to focus on not making a fool of myself. Or him. He got my senses jumbled up like that.

We swayed to the music for some time. I don't know what came over me but I looked up at him, to find him already staring at me. I normally would have pulled away. But those gorgeous eyes that sucked me in so deep before were doing the exact same thing. I just kept on staring.

I like to believe it wasn't my doing. That it was an otherworldly power that made me lean forward and place my lips on his. But whatever it was, I couldn't be more grateful. I expected him to push me away but Alejandro shocked me by pulling me closer. I wrapped my hands around his neck and clung to him for dear life.

Yes!. God Yes!. I was running low on air but that seemed to be the least of my worries as the only thing on my mind was the luscious lips against mine. Our tongues battled for dominance but Alejandro had always been the alpha male so I quickly surrendered victory to him.

We were so lost in our heated make out session, we didn't realize everybody was looking at us. That is, until we heard a roar of clapping hands. I pulled away from Alejandro with deliciously swollen lips to see everyone cheering us on. My cheeks flushed a deep red as I tried to ignore them all. I looked up to Alejandro with a smile on my face. Which quickly disappeared when I noticed the look of anger he had on.

He turned away and uttered a string of curses in Italian. Then he stormed out. I looked around the deck once more to see people offering me looks of pity. I turned to Olivia and offered her a sad smile.

I was once again alone. With a freshly broken heart.
