《The Matrimony》10// Villa Delmanti

He left. After our kiss got abruptly ended. He left. I didn't know what to think. Was I a bad kisser or something?. I mean I hadn't kissed someone in a long time, probably since the last time Michael tried to force himself on me, so I guess maybe I was a little rusty. I looked at the door, expecting him to burst in and tell me he was sorry, that he still loved me and that was the real reason he was marrying me, but sadly we don't always get what we want.
A few minutes later, after Stelly had ushered me to a seat and Benjy asked if I was okay, a huge robust man came into the courtroom wearing a black suit. He was incredibly tall, with midnight-black hair. His bronze skin tone placed him somewhere on the Brazilian scale. He came up to Stelly, Benjy and I.
"Signora Delmanti? ", it came out as a question. I looked around for a minute before foolishly realising that Signora Delmanti was me. Well don't hate me for not being used to Italian terms.
" Yes?", I answered tentatively
"Signore Delmanti has sent me to fetch you. He is waiting for you and your son at the car"
I looked at him. Wondering who he was and why I should believe him and go with him, along with my son.
As if understanding my questioning look he spoke, "I am Paco, Signore Delmanti's chaffeur"
I nodded and then turned to Stelly, "I'm gonna go see what he wants", she nodded
" I'm gonna be right here D", she replied. I smiled. It felt good knowing that no matter how tough stuff could get, Stelly was always going to be there for me.
I turned to Benjy, "C'mon babe, let's go", with that we walked out of the courthouse and into the parking lot. We stood around for a few seconds, trying to spot Alejandro. We found him sporting Ray Bans and leaning against the hood of the car, looking every bit the Italian god. We walked towards him steadily.

" You wanted to see me? ", I asked
" Yes. Get your stuff. We're leaving ", then he went towards the back seat of the Chevrolet Equinox and opened the door. He then turned back to us, as if trying to understand why we weren't moving.
" Leaving to where? ", I asked
He gave me a 'duh' look that made me feel incredibly stupid. I shifted my weight to my left foot. " My house Diana. Where else? "
First of all, he just called me Diana. Second, HIS HOUSE?!.
"I'm sorry, what?! "
He sighed, and with a bored look he turned to me, "You and Benjamin will be moving to my house"
"Why? "
He looked dumbfounded, "We just got married Diana, and from what I know normal people who are married live together. Or didn't they teach you that at school? "
I ignored his degrading remarh, then leaned into his ear and whisper-yelled to avoid Benjy from hearing, "We aren't normal people and this isn't so normal marriage! "
He leaned closer to me, closing the gap between us, "Yes I am aware of that fact Diana, but I am not going to give my rivals the satisfaction of ruining my company's image over something as strange as my own e not living with me"
"I can't just up and leave my apartment. That's my home. That's Benjy's home", I pleaded
" Well not anymore ", he retorted arrogantly
His arrogant demeanor sparked my well-doused fire. " I'm not leaving ", I said while putting my chin up and sporting a diva-like stance.
" Oh how funny", he replied snidely, "You think you have a choice"
"I said I'm not leaving"
"For the sake of your son, get into the goddamn car. He's already looking at us funny"
I turned to see Benjy staring at us intently. But I had to stand my ground, for his sake and mine. "I said no"
He gritted his teeth, "Diana get into the car or... "
"Or what? ", I asked. I couldn't help it, I was feeling brave. I honestly thought he would shut up after that, but what he said next shook me to the bone and had me wondering if the man in front of me still possessed a sliver of the boy I had fallen so hard for.

" Or I'll tell your father that you are disrespecting our agreement and then he'll send your precious Davy back to jail where he belongs", he only whispered the threat but it sounded so loud the words kept on replaying themselves in my head.
I mustered enough courage to mutter to him, "You're nothing like the boy I fell in love with"
He only smiled, a full-tooth grin before replying, "Of course, that boy died when you broke his heart"
I quickly turned away, to find Stelly standing by Benjy. I told her what was going on. She nodded sympathetically before giving Alejandro a nasty glare and strutting towards her car. I walked towards Alejandro's car with Benjy in tow. Paco opened the door for us at which I flashed him a small smile. I helped Benjy in and then got in myself. Benjy sat in between Alejandro and I, absently playing with my fingers, oblivious to the tension around him. The atmosphere in the car was tense enough to be cut with a chainsaw. Oh help me God.
We seemed to be driving towards the outskirts of the city. Then Paco came to stop in front of super tall black gates. He rolled his window down and punched in a code. Then the gates opened. And let me be the first to tell you, what was beyond those gates... absolute heaven. I just couldn't help my more than noticeable jaw-drop. I had died and gone to real estate heaven. The place was like the freaking White House, except it was a lot larger. Paco parked the car in front of the mahogany double doors. Each door had an intricately carved 'D' on it. By the steps leading to the front doors where 2 golden lions facing each other. I know right. Leave it to the Delmantis to put on a show. Paco opened my door and held my hand while I gingerly stepped out.
"Welcome to Villa Delmanti, Signora", he said.
I stepped out and took it all in. Villa Delmanti indeed.
***********
God she's so stubborn. I was doing her a favour by trying to get her into the car, to spare her sons feelings, but nooo, she had to go ahead and be a brat.
The ride to the villa was incredibly silent. She kept on staring out the window, as if wishing she could jump out if the car, like she couldn't stand being around me. That thought alone tugged at my heart strings. Why?!
When we finally arrived, I couldn't help but smile at the surprised expression on her face. I felt good knowing that my level of success stunned her. She should feel good about herself though. Her rejection had been my driving force, knowing that the person you love chooses someone else over you because you're poor and can't afford her lifestyle does things to you, unkind things.
Benjy on the other hand couldn't get over squealing at everything. He promptly ran off with Paco in tow, I had a feeling they were going to be good friends. I led Diana through the different halls and staircases into our room. She seemed awed by it as well. She went into the bathroom and later the closet. She cane out with a strange look on her face.
" How did my clothes get here? ", she asked
" I asked some of my workers to go over to your house and bring over some of you and Benjy's clothes. The rest of your things will arrive tomorrow, you just need to tell the staff what you want brought over"
She nodded.
I walked to her, she walked back. We kept this up till she was against a wall and I was against her.
I stared st her. Just stared, and then I did something that surprised us both. I gave her a soft peck on the forehead and then whispered, "Welcome home, mi esposa"
