《Azurlane: Future Prosperity》Chapter 2: A strange ship in the Docks

"Damn it..... Fuck.... Not again." Gritting her teeth Mirai sat at the corner of her ship.

Despite the injuries she sustained it barely bothered her. However she was mostly recoiling from shock and Trauma as the Events of the past once again marks its presence known.

The Past. A Topic she avoids without a second thought but it always gave the consequence of forcefully remembering which for most of the time she came close to losing her sanity.

A Target Ship or better known as a Decoy, she was built not to last even a month, her technology and capabilities in the surface was similar to a Maya-Class Destroyer however her capabilities were always far below that of a normal Aegis Destroyer.

Clang!

A small piece of ice drifting in the ocean big enough to cause such a loud noise made her shudder. Her hands shook, as the earlier battle surfaced into her mind.

Her hands shaking at the thought of almost cutting an innocent girls head off horrified her.

"This isn't the war... this isn't the war...... calm down.... Mirai... YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS!" She tried calming herself to the point of self harm.

Saying mirai can't control her well being is an understatement. She doesn't even remember how many times her surroundings and vision blacks out only for it to return where almost blood and gore will surround herself.

It doesn't matter wether its combatants or non combatants enemies or allies. They will always surround her with their lifeless corpses.

After Hyperventilating Mirai stabled her breathing, but it was at that moment when a new encounter presented itself.

Rays of light showered near her ship, landing in the sea and kicking water into the air. Too big for a Modern Cannon and Too Quiet for a Missile.

She didn't realize an unknown ship had managed to enter a range of about 12 Miles away.

Shit, she thought and immediately readied for combat however the moment she did her Ship was immediately hit by an unknown arrow like munition, not piercing her bow but instead it planted itself within the hull.

It was Dark in color but it had neon Violet stripes that decorated the menacing like weapon.

Before she could even do anything Mirai's weapons hulls electrified and a Piercing scream let out of her pained voice.

["Unknown ship. Prepare to be boarded."] the person on the other side spoke in a perfect Japanese tone despite sounding like a westerner.

"..... E... M... P!?"

It had already dawned on her that the opponents she met was from second world war era warships, and she concluded that the enemies she will face will be easy from here on out but she was dead wrong.

Too confident of the AN SPY-6 Fixed Array Radars for spotting an Enemy that she forgot about needing to actualy do anything to stop an aggressive action.

Immediately therefore after the surprise attack of shutting her ability to guide her warheads to the enemy she decided to fight head on. With a flick of her finger the ship turned into thousands of wisdom cubes.

The enemy did the same, without any ability to fight any further Mirai mindlessly charged the enemy with her sword pointed towards the enemy to stab through them while the other hand was itching at her hip to draw her revolver.

A Flash, followed by a huge explosion triggered from her opponent immediately missed and passed through her rear but its target was never her in the beggining.

And soon an Explosion Erupted just behind her proppeling her forwards thanks to the Massive Disruption of the ocean following that was an elbow to the face. Mirai fell down lying flat into the Sea.

She was defeated so easily. Practicaly she's already at the hands of the opponent, resisting would just mean death. She doesn't have much of a choice.

A Shadow loomed over head a Battleship turret pointed directly into her eyes. Her face paled and the words she was going to blurt out got stucked into her throat.

Her heart beats raced far above of 200 Hbpm due to this it was getting harder to breathe and an overwhelming form anxiety wrapped her heart. The hand of Death... She could feel it.

Even so she was stubborned and refused to stay down. But at that moment she lost strength, and slowly drifted to slumber.

"Oh... I felt that you're moves were familiar and I moved with the intent to kill. Hahaa, sorry if I accidently.... uwaahhh... she fainted."

A suddrn shock made Mirai jolt and immeduately she sat upright from where she layed down. With a Gasp she woke up.

"..... Where...?" She looked around and identified that she was in a Hospital room.

Then she noticed her wounds, it was covered by Bandages but even with that she could move without problems.

"!!! Mirai! You're finaly awake!!!"

It was at that moment.... her heart sank, looking over to the source of the voice she met eyes with a Girl similar in appearance to her own but unlike her the person she was seeing had Dark Brown Hair. Her eye color were the same Cardinal Red that glistens with moisture, she wore something similar to her own White appareal.

However what immediately stood out was a Peaked cap that Implies to a class of ship that it was the senior. The eldest amongst its sisters.

Thats what made her skin crawl in petrificatiin to the point of losing her voice. Because this Person infront of her... was Dead.

Mirai's Hand immediately pushed the Brown haired girl away who tried embracing her.

"You're already dead!" She unconciously yelled.

"Huh? Mi–Mirai its me... Yukinami—"

"I KNOW! ....... I know... I know Because You're Dead......"

"Huh?....."

Immediately Mirai ignored the Confused Older sister of hers and hurriedly reached out to a Desk where a Katanakake stand was placed.

Her hand reached for the sheated sword and took the blade out of its cover, an Old Weapon she held a Bended Blade to the shape of a Naka-Zori it was shorter than the sword she inherited but it was enough.

With both hands gripping the handle she jumped up with the blade by her right shoulder, it was a downward clean swipe.

However before a conclusion can of blood occured she was awoken by a noise. A loud inhale to be specific.

"That dream again...."

She muttered and she looked across her shoulder to the side where the noise was coming from.

"............"

"...."

Upon landing her gaze she found a Western Woman with a big chest and blonde golden hair with green eyes staring back at her. But what was weird was that the woman was sniffing her "Clothing". There it became an awkward scenario where both parties couldn't make a single noise.

Mirai hissed as a cotton laced with disinfectant alcohol touched her bare skin with alot of scratches and wounds. Even if it had happened so many times she was not used to such excruciating burning sensation in her beautiful skin.

"Come on don't be such a Baby! Look you have more scars than wounds. I atleast Expected for you to feel indifferent about this!" The Woman who had fought her was nursing her which was odd to say the least.

"I'm very sorry..."

To summarize, upon Fainting Mirai was carried over back to her ship which retransforms back to its original state. And seeing such a comfy infirmary her opponent decided to stay and watch over the Unknown Kansen.

Her Opponent was Kongo. Who was under strict orders to investigate the northern border due to entries from Unknown assailants. However she encountered Mirai instead, she felt a sense of familiarity to the person and so she was curious and accidentaly knocked her out.

She felt sorry for what she did and instead of reporting it back she decided to watch over the girl and question her under her own agenda. She had stripped the girl naked because of the blood flowing out of her injuries that was staining the beautiful white dress but Kongo was sure that she didn't cause those wounds.

She cleaned the Body with a wet warm towel and was going to use the disinfectant from a cabinet she found however the girl woke up first.

Mirai who had woken up recoiled back and felt fear to the person. It wasn't due to the Alcohol. No definitely not it, but it was because of a Nightmare. Seeing this Kongo tried her best to lighten the mood by reassuring Mirai and finaly they breached the ice between them and managed to have a small conversation which leads to now.

With a last patch of a Band aid placed on her cheeks beneath her eyes, Mirai stood up and faced Kongo. Still naked but she wore her underwear while speaking.

"I am very thankful, Kongo-san. But I must go—-"

Kongo placed a hand to Mirai's shoulders, a gaze with a frown and her lips tightly closed as if holding something in, Kongo tightened her grip.

Kongo felt it, a Pain of letting go. She doesn't know why but she had an urge to make the girl stay by her side.

"Ah! Ow! H-hey!" Mirai shrugged her shoulder but Kongo's hand didn't let go.

With a menacing aura Kongo pressed on Mirai to answer a question of her's.

"First. Tell me, who you are."

"I- I must–" the words frustrated Kongo so.

This time Mirai was pushed back to the bed's white sheets. And with Kongo's hand planted beside Mirai's head (A Bed kabedon), it looked as if its a romantic moment for the two, but with a face of a devil, Mirai didn't flushed red or even was flustered.

"A-n-s-w-e-r."

"I'm Mirai! P-please, give me space-!"

"No." Licking her finger's, Kongo traced around Mirai's chest to her hip, seductively. "What's your purpose being here, are you a spy? and which faction do you serve?"

This time Mirai's head was heating up, being self concious of the fact she's being seduced. Lying may make her too Red for her Poker face to convince and she might even stutter. Internaly she was screaming.

"I serve nobody! As for why I'm here- Top Secr– EEEEEPPP!!! NOT THERE!"

It seemed this was the interogation waiting for Mirai. Maybe torture could've been better, as this type of interogation/seduction is where Mirai falls short in.

(Basicaly it means she is quite literaly Middle-Bottom or better known as unaware masochist. Like every other people who likes spicy food specificaly you .)

To get Mirai to talk more Kongo started licking Mirai's tummy which was yet another pure weak spot for the young maiden. Mirai was only wearing underwear, as she had wounds over her hip, her clothing was left behind where Kongo stood earlier and it seemed she isn't getting dressed soon.

"W-why are you doing~ this~!" Mirai tried resisting but her hands lack power as her body was oddly reacting towards Kongo's aggression.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm interrogating you~ and nobody in the empire could ever resist pushing you down with the way you cleaned yourself." With a wink and a smile, Mirai felt a skip in her beat.

"Eh!? I don't swing that way! Get off! I'll answer your questions just get off!" Embarassed she pushed Kongo out of her way.

Kongo took a hint and stood upright, "Bah. No fun." She disatisfiedly mumbles taking a step to the sides giving Mirai a way.

Mirai hurriedly escaped her claws and to her Uniform, quickly dressing herself without missing a beat. She was completely red from cheaks to her neck which was easily noticed by Kongo.

With full view of Mirai getting dressed something was urging Kongo to push once again, but she managed to control herself by using a retort.

"'I Don't swing that way' you say but it looks like you quite enjoyed it."

"I didn't! Hmph!." With a sidelong glance Mirai quickly saw and took the oppurtunity.

The oppurtunity to dash towards the door to her freedom whilst Kongo merely stared amused.

Her escape came to a grinding halt as she felt the handle, it was locked by a two sided lock. Mirai hopelessly returned her gaze to Kongo who flauntly flails a key with a smirk on her lips. She probably got it in one of her ships decks.

"...... Haaaaah..... I'll answer your questions, and you'll answer some of mine." Mirai shamefuly looked down as she suggested a deal.

"Alright."

"I'm not a Spy, I'm here to buy some stuff, A Trader if you will. And I serve... Japan. Japan's Maritime Self Defence Force."

"Japan? Never heard of them. Is that country newly founded?"

"No, it has a long history of not being invaded. An Island nation with a cluster of 4 islands. The land of Anime"

"Sounds like the Sakura Empire. So miss Trader, your ship was quite large I must ask, what are you looking to trade? I know a shop around the Island. She might give you a newcomer's discount."

"But what about my question?"

"I'll answer them along the way, and your clothes.... despite it making you look cool, I suggest wearing this. You may already know this but Sakura's Army is in deep Paranoia Right now, yes?" Kongo handed a Kimono along with a white mouthless plain mask.

A Dark Purple and high quality Kimono with a Violet Obi. While a Blank Featureless mask with a pointy chin made Mirai immediately frown for its blandness.

Taking out her lipstick Mirai drew a red highlight under the eyes of the Mask giving the piece of plastic some form of Art and distinction.

"Alright. Lets go."

"Wow, copying Akagi much?"

"... Who's Akagi?"

"Guess this is the beggining of my end of the bargain. Akagi is—"

With guilt written all over their faces Annapolis and Livermore sat along the halls of the Eagle Union Dormitory. They were supposed to return to their dorm rooms to get some rest, yet they're right here, Outside beside a vending machine. Wondering what went wrong and what could've changed.

"Maybe we could've just stayed and helped Sensei...." Livermore mutters still not being able to process what she had seen arriving back in base.

"If we helped. We would've been sunked, you know that."

"Its a far better fate than sitting here contimplating about the past."

".... Yeah..." Annapolis ended up agreeing with the better conclusion. Because she too blames herself for abandoning her teachers.

"Good evening you two." With a tip of a hat a tall woman wearing Formal wear of a Navy Personel greeted them.

The two looked up to see the Legend herself, Grey Ghost. CV-6 Enterprise. Immediately the both of them hurriedly stood up to salute, but they were stopped.

"You two calm down. Today's Formalities should be dropped and stay sitted please because I know you two are exhausted."

"We didn't fight any battles, so we're not that exhausted." Annapolis commented. To that Enterprise shook her head.

"Mental Exhaustion is still an exhaustion. So rest, I only came here for a Casual chat." Enterprise gave a gentle and calming aura.

Whilst Enterprise tried to convince the two to loosen up, another ship girl approached giggling like a small child.

"You're here to gossip about the Grey Ship too? Ghost-san."

"Philippine Sea, its great to see you."

"You too Enterprise."

The two carriers exchanged greetings ending with a simple embrace. Philippines looked towards the two destroyers and gave both a pat in the head.

"Mu~ stop~ my hair."

"I'm sorry Annapolis you're just too cute. Anyway, I can see Enterprise being interested in the new Anomaly you guys encountered and so did many others, I came here to spread the Info. Will you two care to help me? It is for your own good so others won't have to question you."

Philippines clasp their hands like forcing them to agree but before they said anything Enterprise gave her a wake up call, by a bonk on the head.

"Philipines. Please give them personal space or you'll be seen by everyone as the Eagle Union's Ark Royal."

"Kaha!? A- Alright then." Standing up she took a notepad frok her pockets, "So will you two please tell me everything you know?"

Exhaling to calm themselves, the two looked at each other signifying their uneasiness but with a simple nod from to each other they mustered up the courage to speak up.

"When we detected the ship on our radar it was moving quite slow 12 knots to be exact. So we thought it must be a Merchant ship who just passed a storm. However there was no order of free travel to the pacific due to an unprecedented Siren scout fleet, so Gleaves-Sensei ordered us to catch up to the ship. When we reached visual range I found it hard to see the ship even with binoculars. And it seems to have seen us as well because of the glint I saw from the ship's bridge." Annapolis tells the beggining of the story with Philippines quickly taking notes leaving no detail unwritten.

"What happened after that?" Enterprise leaning from the vending machine immediately asked the obvious.

"Well it ran away."

"Ran away? How fast exactly?" Enterprise was now gettinf more interested with the two's knowledge.

"Well it went from 12 to 30 knots in the blink of an eye, there was also no black smokes being emitted meaning it was fairly quite a new ship." Livermore this time explained some of her knowledge.

"Then it must be a test ship." Philippines deduced with the two couldn't retort or form an argument against it. With that said Annapolis continued,

"We managed to catch up and we were nearing it. We have been hailing the ship for sometime then but it wasn't responding. Suddenly in the middle of the chase it killed its own engines."

"It shut off the engines?"

"Yes, while we could've catched up we were already expecting an ambush so we surrounded the ship. But it was too earie even for the Battleships so it was decided that two destroyers will enter the ship."

"You got close to it huh. Can you tell me the dimensions of the ship?"

Livermore finding the oppurtunity explained, the following "The ship was a Takao-class cruiser, well it looked like a takao with a tall bridge and wide bow. But not only I but everyone found it strange that it only had 1 armament. It also was quite smaller than the original class so it was probably a sub class made for supply runs... but its armament said so otherwise, Rockets with a mind of its own like an aircraft, accuracy in its lone weapon unmatched even by Gleaves-sensei and carrying a sword resembling a Nihon Katana."

"... alright after that then what happened?" Philippines scribbled like crazy as the details were clear as diamonds making it not only an interesting report but also an interesting story.

"Sensei ordered three ships to investigate, as we waited outside we suddenly heard screaming. We were prepared to breach the ship again but... their bodies were thrown to the sea, we rushed to help but the sequence was too fast the culprit revealing herself forming the ship into a rigging we have yet to see. Which made it clear she was a siren."

"She isn't a siren. Quit mixing stories up! She's a Human Ship prototype built by Sakura!"

"Please ladies. Don't fight, say did both of you get a good long glance at the woman?"

"Well yes, she was quite tall yet despite that her boobs were flat as a destroyer's she wore an attire similar to eagle union carriers or fleet leaders and she have a white long flowing hair braided gracefully like those english people and she had glowing red eyes like a siren!"

"As I said Annapolis she isn't a siren! If she was. Then our teacher's heads may be disconnected right now!"
