The next day, I woke up to a text message around six thirty in the morning. "Ugh, who texts this early?" I grumbled to myself, grabbing my phone and looking at it, the bright light practically blinding me.

I immediately awaken when I realized there was a text from my dad saying:

I bit my lip, thinking about how to reply to him. My parents and I weren't on the greatest terms since I refused to go to Harvard after I got offered a scholarship. I knew it was going to be a waste of time since I wasn't going to pursue something so prestigious, like everyone else there would. I ended up going to a local college for two years, where I got my associate's degree in business. To this day, I still wasn't sure why I took those business classes, but I guess it was mainly to somewhat make my parents okay with that decision.

After about ten minutes, I decided to reply with:

I was trying to decide whether I should add a smiley face emoticon, but decided against it, since I didn't think he would be a big fan of those.

I noticed his message.

I wonder what they want to talk about.

I scrolled through my phone for a while, and then cooked breakfast for myself.

After getting ready, I ran a few errands to different places. First, I went to the grocery store because I needed more food and drinks. After that, I went to look for a few home decorations to make my apartment less plain looking. I bought a few pink lights to make my room look prettier, and I also bought a few picture frames.

By the time I was done with the errands, it was 11:30. I went to my car, and drove to my parents' house.

When I arrived, I parked the car, and then walked up their driveway. I looked around nervously, and then rang the doorbell.

My mom opened the door, at first having a straight face. "Hello," she said, now having a small smile.

"Hey," I said, smiling back.

I walked in, and then noticed my dad standing there. "Good afternoon, Anastasia," he said.

"Hey," I said to him.

I gave my parents a hug, and then we went to go sit in the dining room.

"So how have you been?" My mom asked. "How's your job?"

"I've been good, and I love my job," I replied.

"Where do you work?" My dad asked.

"Havens Enterprise."

My parents glanced at each other, with impressed looks on their faces. "That's great. That business is very successful, I've heard. What do you do there?" My dad said.

"I'm a secretary. I email, run errands, file, and make sure everything is where it's supposed to be."

"That's great," my mom said, grinning. "I've heard many great things about the Havens family."

"I've met them a few times," my dad said. He looked back at me. "You work for Vincent Havens, correct?"

"Yes," I said, nodding my head.

"He's a great businessman, and a hard worker. I've heard this year was very successful."

"He is." I nodded in agreement again. "And yes, this year was very successful."

"You've done well with getting that job, Anastasia. I'm very impressed." My dad gave me a nod of approval.

"We're very proud of you," my mom said, grinning.

The doorbell rang, and then we walked over to the front door.

"Hello, Elizabeth," my dad said to my sister, who was standing outside grinning.

"Hey, mom and dad!" Elizabeth, or as I called her, Liz, said. She gave them a hug, and then looked over at me. "Hey, Stacey!" Then she gave me a hug.

"Hey, Liz," I said, grinning and giving her a hug.

"It's been a while since I've seen you all, how have you been?" She looked at us.

"We're doing fine dear," my mom replied.

"What about you, Stacey?" She smiled.

"I've been doing good," I said.

"She works at Havens Enterprise," my dad said.

Liz raised an eyebrow, looking surprised and impressed. "Oh really? Well that's great! I've heard that business is very successful," she said. "I remember Vince, he was in my high school class."

My eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, that's great. How was he like?" I asked.

"He was very smart and ambitious, even back then. He was the valedictorian of our graduation class, and was the smartest person at our school. He had a 4.5 GPA."

"Wow, that's incredible." I grinned, and then sighed to myself. He's definitely out of my league.

I wasn't the smartest person in school, but I wasn't the dumbest either. I always did my work, I just didn't take anything seriously when I was a teenager, and I was just changing that this year to get more focused in life.

"How are you, Elizabeth?" My dad asked her.

"I'm doing well, and been very busy lately with my journalism," Liz said. "How are you all?"

"We've been doing well." My dad took a sip of his wine. "Anyways, your mother and I would like to tell you some news."

Liz and I nodded, waiting for the news.

"We're going to have an important gathering with some business men and women. I'm also helping my boss with a charity. The money donated will be going to local shelters."

"That sounds great, dad," Liz said, smiling. "I'll try helping in any way I can."

"Me too," I said, nodding my head in agreement.

"That's great, girls. That's what we were about to ask of you," my mom said. "I'm glad you all can help, even when you're busy."

"Of course," Liz said. "I can probably write an article about it. I have to check with my boss first."

"I can tell my friends and coworkers about it," I suggested.

"Sounds great," my dad said, nodding. "It will be next week, and I will give you all the address later."

"Oh okay."

"I prepared lunch," my mom said, and then we went to the kitchen to get food.

"This is very good spaghetti," I said after I swallowed a bite.

"I miss your cooking. It's always so good," Liz said.

"Thank you girls," my mom said, smiling.

After we ate, we helped cleaned up the kitchen. In the meantime, my dad got a phone call, and he went out on the porch.

A few minutes later after we finished cleaning the kitchen, my dad came back in, and said, "Well, I have to get to work in a bit. I wish we could spend more time together today, but I won't be able to do that right now."

"It's okay, I have somewhere to be too in a few hours," Liz said.

"Yeah, it's fine," I said. I didn't have anywhere to be, but I was going to tell some of my coworkers about the business gathering.

We hugged our parents goodbye, and left.

I went back home, grabbed my laptop, and sat on the couch. I decided to email Mr. Havens, Dante, Sanjay, Harper, and a few other coworkers. I texted Chelsea and Jesenia about it, since anyone could come.

Mr. Havens replied to my email right away, and it said:

I replied back:

I grinned, and then texted Chelsea and Jesenia about the business charity event. They both texted back and said they would be going.

I watched T.V. for a while, and then made dinner.
