While I was getting ready for work, I got a text from Dave that said,

I stared at the text, tilting my head slightly to the right in confusion. He's not going to ask me to date him, is he? I decided to reply,

He responded back, and we decided to meet up at a street close to work, which wasn't too packed in the morning.

After I was done getting ready, I grabbed my purse, and headed toward that street. I noticed Dave already standing there. He was pacing back and forth as if he had to tell me something important.

"Hey," I greeted him with a smile.

"Hey," he greeted back.

After a brief awkward silence, I asked, "So what did you need to talk to me about?"

"Oh...um..." He brushed his hair back nervously. "Look, I know we have been to dinner a couple of times, but I got to thinking..." He stopped in mid-sentence.

"...Of what?" I raised an eyebrow.

He sighed. "I got to thinking about how I'm a CEO of a different company, and you work for Mr. Havens. I'm sorry, Stacey, but we can't date. I can't risk having you get fired." He gave me a sympathetic look.

I let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, it's okay, Dave. I was kind of thinking the same thing actually." Which was true. "Mr. Havens recently asked me if we were dating, and I told him no, because technically we weren't."

"Are you sure?" He still looked slightly nervous.

I nodded my head, and smiled. "Yes, I'm sure."

"Oh okay, good." He let out a sigh of relief. "So no hard feelings?"

I shook my head. "No hard feelings."

"That's good. I mean, we can still be friends, if you're okay with that..."

"Yes, I'd like that."

"Oh okay." He scratched his head. "Well, I should get to work...Again, I apologize for this..."

"It's really fine. I'll see you around." I grinned.

His face relaxed, and he gave me a smile. "See you around, Stace."

I waved, and then walked away. I was so relieved that he said that, because I didn't want him to think we were dating. Of course, I wanted to talk to him about the situation too, but he had beat me to it.

I went inside the building, and went to my desk.

As soon as I sat down, Dante turned around in his chair, and said, "Oh good, you're here. Now we can take a few minutes to discuss our ideas, and then tell Mr. Havens about this."

"Okay, cool," I said, grinning. I looked at the clutter on my desk. "Um, let me quickly organize my desk, and then we can get to it."

He nodded, and then I organized some of the clutter together. I threw away a few things that weren't needed anymore.

"My desk is now clear. We can go now," I said.

Dante and I stood up, and went to the meeting room, where Sanjay and Harper were waiting.

"Good, we're all here," Sanjay said. "Now we should try coming up with a decision."

We took a few minutes to discuss and add more ideas, and then we went to Mr. Havens' office.

"Let's take a look at these ideas," Mr. Havens said. He gathered our papers, nodding his head in approval. "These are very nice ideas. I'll have a meeting later this afternoon, and then hopefully we can all make a final decision. I'm going to send an email to everyone that there will be a meeting." He glanced at us, and smiled.

He's smiling again! I smiled back at him.

We walked out of his office, and went back to our work. In the meantime, I took phone calls, emailed, filed, and ate lunch when I took a break.

Not too long after we continued working after eating lunch, Mr. Havens came out of his office, and announced, "There will be a brief meeting in five minutes."

A few minutes later, all of us went in the meeting room.

"These are the ideas that Dante, Anastasia, Sanjay, and Harper came up with," Mr. Havens said, passing around the copied papers of our ideas. "Please help us make our decision by circling one of these ideas."

We took a few minutes to do that. After we were done, we handed the papers back to Mr. Havens. He silently looked at the different papers for a few minutes. "It looks like we have come to a final decision," he said, smiling. "We will go to the mountains for a day where Sanjay's family lives. That's what most of you all decided, and I think we could use a bit of fresh air ourselves. I will send you an email when we will be going. Everyone is now dismissed."

We walked out of the office, and went back to work.

Later on, I went over to Chelsea's place. When she opened the door, I said, "You'll never guess what happened." I grinned.

She grinned back. "What?" She said.

"So a few days ago, Mr. Havens told us at a meeting that his business was the most successful year so far. He also said that we should celebrate, and he chose a few people to help him to come up with different ideas. I was one of those people! We all decided we'll go to the mountains for a day with Sanjay's family."

Her eyes widened in surprise, and her mouth dropped open. "Really? Mr. Havens chose you to help him with the ideas?"

I nodded. "Yup. There were a few others too, but I was surprised he chose me to be one of them."

She grinned. "Maybe he does like you!"

"I don't know...He was happier than usual the past few days, but that could be because of his business." I shrugged. "Oh, and by the way Dave met up with me this morning to talk." I explained to her about what happened.

"Well...I guess that's a good thing since you didn't like him in that way anyways." She paused. "It's so hard to figure out Mr. Havens though! How will we figure out if he likes you or not? I mean, I think he does, but we need to be one hundred percent sure. Flirting with him didn't work. Making him jealous didn't work. How else will we find out?" She looked puzzled.

I shrugged. "I don't know, but I guess the best thing to do is just observe, and see how it goes."

"Yeah, I agree. Just see how he acts like around you at the mountains."

I glanced at the movie set. "So what are we watching this evening?" Usually, at least once a week, we have a movie night.

"Well, I have Confessions Of A Shopaholic, and My Fake Fiance." She held the two movies.

"Hmmm...I'm leaning more toward Confessions Of A Shopaholic." I giggled.

"Me too." She grinned, and then put in the movie.
