《Dear Diary, I Have a Mate》Chapter 23

Dear Diary,
Ty isn't going anywhere. His job is this pack, which I still haven't completely met yet.
My thoughts have been wondering towards my mother lately, before Trevor and before rehab she actually wasn't too horrible of a person.

"I just want to do a drive by Tyson," I sighed.
"It's not going to be pretty Ar," he groaned.
"I never said it was Ty, but I need this," I added.
He looked at me for a moment and then muttered something under his breath.
"I love you," I smiled hugely while skipping out the door.
I asked Ty to take me past my old house, or what's left of it. I wanted to see what survived the fire.
We entered my old neighborhood and I took a deep breath. It was worse than I imagined. Basically what was left of the house was wood. There was just ash and dirt everywhere. You could tell by the wood remaining standing that it was a house at one point, but the outside finally looked like what was happening on inside.
"Stop," I told Tyson.
He stopped the car and I stared at it for a minute.
I reached for the door handle and then got out of the car. Ty didn't stop me he just watched me carefully. I walked up to the mess and stared a little closer.
I turned around and got back in the car.
"Ar," Ty started to say.
"Just get me out of here," I whispered. With that he took my hand in his and drove back home.
I walked out of the car and inside.
"What's wrong?" Carter asked when he saw me. When I didn't answer he looked over my shoulder where I'm assuming Ty was standing. Carter nodded at something Ty must have done and he gave me a small smile.
"I'm going to go finish my movie," he stated with that he walked over to the couch and sat down.
"Aria?" Ty asked.
"I-I'm just going to go lay down," I whispered while walking upstairs.
I walked into Ty's room and looked at the bed for a moment. Then I crawled in it and closed my eyes.
I felt the bed slightly move and I turned my head to see Ty lying next to me.

I put my head in his shoulder and tears began flowing out of my eyes.
"Its okay baby," Ty soothed while stroking my hair.
I tried to regain control of myself. That house was the source of the abuse. All the memories and pain I felt happened in it. All that just burned down with it. Most of all any memories or pictures or things from my childhood; gone. Gone, like it never existed, I wish I could burn the memories in my mind, but I can't they will stay with me forever.
"Please stop crying baby," Ty pleaded.
I tried to take a deep breath but it wasn't working.
"Please Ar," Ty begged.
I looked up at his face and saw a tear slid down his cheek. I reached up and used my thumb to wipe it away.
He sadly smiled and used his thumbs to do the same.
"It hurts me so much to see you in this much pain," he sighed.
"Thank you," I whispered.
"What?" he asked confused.
"For letting me see the house, thank you," I repeated.
"I love you," he smiled.
"I love you too," I sniffed while sitting up.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"I will be," I nodded.
********************************************
"That's not true," I laughed while setting my juice down.
"I think it is," Ty shrugged.
Carter entered the room and smiled when he saw me laughing.
"I'm glad to see your smiling face this morning," Carter grinned.
"I'm not happy to see yours," I mocked.
He play glared at me and then turned to Ty.
"Tyson you still going to that thing today," he whispered swiftly to him. I don't know if they know I heard that but I'm getting pretty good at picking up what they are saying.
"I don't know if I should leave her," He whispered back.
I played with my bacon pretending to be oblivious to the current conversation they were having.
"She seems fine," Carter encouraged.
"Hey babe?" Ty asked.
"You can go Ty," I sighed while pushing my plate to Carter so he could finish my bacon.
"You heard that?" he smirked.
"Indeed," I smirked back.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine babe," I assured.

"You could come with me," he suggested.
"I don't really feel like going anywhere," I declined.
"Understood and sorry to say this but Carter's in charge," he smiled.
I looked over at Carter and slapped my hand on my forehead.
"On second thought please stay," I begged.
"I'll be back in five hours tops," he promised.
"Okay where exactly are you going?" I asked.
"I'm going to the Midnight Packs territory they need help after being attacked," he stated while kissing my head.
"Attacked? Ty no it's not safe," I protested.
"It is love I've done this before," He chuckled.
"Okay fine," I pouted.
"Hey Carter and you can go out in the city, get you out of the house just for a little bit at least," he suggested.
"Okay," I shrugged.
"Okay I'll see you later baby," he smiled while pulling me into him.
I leaned up and pecked his lips. He smiled against my lips and then deepened it. I heard Carter making gagging noises which I laughed at and then pulled away.
"I love you," he smiled.
"I love you too," I grinned.
He left and I sat back down on the stool.
"You heard him go get dressed," Carter mocked.
"I don't feel like it," I started to say.
"Nope, go," he demanded.
"Fine," I sulked while dragging myself upstairs.
I pulled on some skinny jeans and a white tank top with a pink and purple flower on it. I then pulled on some gray boots. I combed through my hair, brushed my teeth and added some mascara to my eyes. I then walked back downstairs. Carter had changed too. He was now in jeans and a black tight shirt.
"Let's go," he smiled while leading me out to his car.
"Ew you're driving," I remarked.
"I'm a good driver," he protested.
"Sure you are," I muttered while getting into the passenger side.
"Do you want to drive?" he laughed while pulling out of the driveway.
"I would love to if I had a license," I laughed.
"What, how old are you?" he asked.
"Eighteen," I replied.
"We've got to get you a license Aria," he laughed.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"First we are going to McDonalds because I am hungry," he started.
"Carter we just ate," I groaned.
"We're going," he sternly replied.
"I miss Ty," I pouted.
"Why would you need Ty when you have me?" he snorted.
"Because I love him," I shrugged.
"I'm hurt that you don't like spending time with me," he mocked.
"Just watch the road," I laughed.
We reached McDonalds and Carter nearly sprinted in.
I sat down at a table and waited for Carter to bring the food. I have no idea what the idiot was going to bring me but whatever it is I'm sure I won't eat more than a quarter of it.
"Arrabella?" I heard someone ask.
I turned around to see Isaac. He was the reason my father made us move. The reason I got beat almost every night.
I looked at him tears forming in my eyes and I stood up to get away from him, this hurt too much.
He grabbed my arm and tried to pull me in for a hug.
"CARTER," I screamed. Isaac seemed shocked that a scream just came from my mouth. Carter appeared instantly.
"Get off of her," Carter growled.
"Arrabella," Isaac demanded I hid my face behind Carter.
"Get away from us," Carter threatened.
"I should be saying that to you what have you done to her?" Isaac protested.
It was too much for me to take. My breaths caught in my throat and the familiar closing started occurring.
Isaac. He was my best friend when I was little. When I stopped talking he took it the worst. He would yell at me and try to get me to talk. When I was thirteen he kissed me and my father saw. That was the first move. Then this move was because Isaac found us and threatened to call the cops one night on my father.
"Arrabella breathe," Carter pleaded.
I was being thrown into the car and my throat was barely holding on.
The last thing I remember was screaming before everything went black.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

He slowly backs up until his back is against the wall like my own, "You're..my neighbor?" He points to my door and I nod my head quickly. He hums softly, "You been here a while?" He asks and I nod my head once again. He chuckles, "Ya head hurt?" I nod again but stop as he laughs softly, "I-I mean.. no.. it doesn't." My cheeks burn red as I look at my shoes, "I-It doesn't hurt.." I repeat like a dummy and listen to him clear his throat, "So do you actually live there or was it bull?" He nods to my door and I play with my fingers, "Yeah.. I do.." I feel his eyes watch me and I quickly stop. "You live with your boyfriend or do you like sweatshirts that reach your knees?" He teased, making a giggle slip past my lips. I look away to the floor again, "I-I like big shirts... a lot." I mumble softly and he nods his head, "Hol' up." He puts his box down before walking over to one of the grey bins. I nosily watch as he pulls out a big grey sweatshirt, "Here." He holds it out for me to take and I stare at him with wide eyes, "F-For me?" I hesitantly grab the soft fabric as he chuckles, "Nah for ya mom." I puff my cheeks a little and give him a small glare, "Hush." He leans back against the wall and shakes his head, "It's cold out.
