《The Alpha's Girl》Chapter 15

I sat on the bed in Chance's room. We still didn't sleep in the same room since I still wanted some space. He was looking in the mirror, rolling up the sleeves to his button-down shirt. I was strapping on my heels and clasping together the buckle to them. Chance looked at me through the mirror and smiled. "So, what did you want to tell me at your grandparents house earlier? You said you wanted to talk about something?"

I stood up from the bed, pulling down my dress that had ridden up a little bit. I walked over the window and looked at all of the pack members setting up for the barbeque today, "I just wanted to see if you wanted to give this a shot, us I mean. I've been stubborn and I feel like you have been too. You always talk about how much your wolf cares about you but never how you really feel. If you want to give this a chance, I'm willing to as well."

Chance's smile lit up the entire room. "I have been waiting for you to tell me this for a long time now. I acted like I didn't care because I thought it would hurt less if I tried turning off my feelings for you. Every time you rejected me, it hurt a little more so I pretended not to care in hopes that it would lessen the pain of the rejection. I want to give this a chance as well. I want us to work, since you're stuck with me forever."

I smiled. "I don't want to fully mate though. I want to start out slow and go on dates and actually get to know each other."

Chance came over to me and looked out the window with me. "That's probably the best thing you ever said to me. Of course, we can take it slow, anything you need and want, you got it. Does this mean I can kiss you?"

I laughed and turned to look at Chance who was leaning up against the windowsill. "Slow down there, buddy. I don't kiss on the first date."

Chance narrowed his eyes. "You aren't going to play easy to get, are you?"

"No, I'm not but I won't fight you anymore, as long as you're nice."

Chance walked to his closet and grabbed a pair of vans to put on. "Well, would you like to go on a date with me this Saturday night?"

I turned from the window and smiled at Chance. "Sure, why not? What are you planning on doing?"

Chance shrugged his shoulders. "It's going to be a surprise. By the way, we already had a date before, when I took you into town and told you I am a werewolf. This will be our second date which means I get to kiss you."

Chance started coming towards me but I put a hand out, stopping him. "I actually changed my mind. I don't kiss before the third date."

Before Chance could say anything, I ran out of his room, my laughter bouncing off the walls. I heard Chance growl loudly, a playful growl that had made some pack members around me jump. I laughed even harder, making my way downstairs and back into my room to finish getting ready.

I was standing beside Chance on a small stage in the middle of the pack. He had his arm around my waist which was sending tingles and warmth all throughout my body. Before this was happening, Chance had asked me if I wanted to be initiated into the pack tonight. I was hesitant at first but decided to just do it anyway and get it over with. Now, Chance was introducing me to the pack. "As some of you may know, I have finally found my mate and our Luna. She isn't a part of our pack yet but she will be soon. Tonight, is her twentieth birthday and tonight we will initiate her into the pack! Everyone please say hello to our new Luna!"

Many shouts were heard throughout the pack members and I forced a smile, suddenly feeling extremely nervous and overwhelmed. I hadn't realized how many pack members Chance actually had. Once the excitement started dying down, Chance led me off the stage and I greeted some more people, smiling and introducing myself to everyone. It was crazy but, in the end, I got some really good cake and was able to see my family, who even brought my dogs with them. They were conversing with Chance's parents and they all seemed to be getting along just fine.

Chance squeezed my hand. "Are you enjoying yourself, love?"

I nodded. "Yes, I am. When did you say the ceremony will begin?"

Chance looked at his watch. "In three hours, why?"

"Just wondering so I know when to start getting ready. I'm going to go and play with the kids. A little boy had been begging me to play tag with him all day."

Chance smiled. "Are you sure? You don't have to."

"I love kids and if I'm going to be Luna, I should start playing the part."

"Alright, I'll have myself or someone come and get you when the time is ready, okay?"

I nodded and stood up, many pack members watching my every move. I walked over to an area where four kids were playing. Timmy, the little boy who kept begging me to play with him, was sitting on the ground crying.

I walked over to him, kneeling down on the ground next to him. "What's wrong, Timmy?"

He sniffled and wiped away his tears. "They won't let me play with them! They said I'm a baby because I'm six and they told me if I went to my mommy and daddy and told on them that they would never ever play with me again."

I hugged Timmy, my heart aching for him

Go and tell those kids who they're messing with.

I smiled at my wolf and did exactly what she told me to do. I walked over to the other three kids playing tag. They must have been around ten or eleven and I understand why they wouldn't want to play with a six-year-old but it's not cool to be mean to anyone no matter their age.

When the three saw me coming, they all stopped running and bowed their heads to me. "Hello, Luna."

I looked down at the three boys. "Hello, you guys want to tell me why Timmy is on the ground over there crying?"

The boy in the middle quickly paled, his heart racing. "He fell and didn't want to leave. We told him to go home but he said he was fine."

I nodded, my wolf becoming angry for being lied to. "Do you want to tell me the truth?"

"It is the truth, Miss. Luna!"

I frowned. "Timmy said you guys won't let him play tag with him. Don't lie to me or anyone, it's not a good thing to do. So, why is Timmy on the ground crying?"

"We told him he couldn't play with us."

I tried to contain my laugh. I hated being this serious. "And what should you have done instead?"

"Let him play with us."

I looked over at Timmy and waved him over to us. "If you let me and Timmy play, I won't tell your parents. Being mean is never the right thing to do."

The boys nodded their heads. "Oh goddess, you're the best Luna ever! Of course, you guys can play."

I winked at Timmy and felt someone's hot gaze on me. Looking around, I saw Chance giving me a thumbs up and I smiled.

Maybe this whole Luna thing won't be so bad after all.

"You have to wear this." Hannah said, handing me a beautiful white dress.

"Why? I thought white was only for weddings?"

Hannah sighed, placing the curling iron down on my vanity, "White means pure. It gives the innocent look. You wear white because you're the Luna. Everyone else wears black. This is more of a purity thing. Most Luna's and Alpha's are virgins. This is usually the night that they fully mate. The original tradition back in the day was for the upcoming Luna to be naked but that was outlawed by the Elders a few decades ago."

I shuddered, not even imagining what it would be like to walk down the aisle naked in front of the entire pack, "Fine, I'll wear this. I'd rather wear this then be naked. Though by the looks of this dress I might just be considered naked."

I looked over the dress Hannah gave me. The dress was all lace and see through. Underneath the dress I wore wear a body suit, which of course was white. Over top was an all lace cover that would trail behind me as I walked. It was short in the front, ending at my knees. I sighed, putting on my all white undergarments and then the dress. Looking at myself fin the mirror, I smiled, actually liking the way I looked for once. It brought out all of my curves and showed just enough cleavage to leave to the imagination.

The only thing I wasn't confident about was the scars on my arms that were showing. Tiny lines made their way up my arms and across my shoulders. Some of the scars were from stitches that I needed when he had hit me too hard. Scars lingered across the tops of my breasts, from the torment he brought to me. I sighed, suddenly feeling very self-conscience. I grabbed the robe I had on before getting dressed and put it around me

Hannah came back into the room after leaving to get a flower to put in my hair. "Okay, I'm back. I didn't find a flower but I found really pretty pins that sparkle Hey, why are you covering yourself up? I want to see you. Every Luna in the pack has worn that dress."

I sat down on my bed, my wolf mirroring my pain. "I have these scars and they show from this dress. I have been hiding these for years and now the scars are on display for everyone to see."

Hannah frowned, coming and sitting down next to me. "Your scars do not define who you are as a person. However, the scars do show how strong you are and that you made it through something horrific and that your survived. Please don't cry or be safe. Chance is going to feel your pain and we can't have him barging in here, okay?"

I nodded, taking off the robe and owning up to the marks lingering all over my body. "How does it look?"

Hannah's mouth opened wide "Oh you are beautiful! I'm so jealous of your body.

I gave Hannah a hug, thanking her for the compliment and for being my best friend. "So, what shoes am I even supposed to wear with this?"

Hannah laughed, putting the sparkly pins in my hair. "You don't wear shoes."

"What?"

"It's some crazy tradition that wants you to be one with the earth or something like that. I didn't really pay attention to my Elders lessons in school growing up. I just know that you don't wear shoes."

I laughed and stood up, looking at my hair in the mirror and loving every inch of it. "Alright, now what?"

"We wait until the moon is at its peak and then we begin the ceremony. Someone will come for you. I need to leave now and get ready. Will you be okay here alone?

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Thanks again for everything."

Hannah hugged me and then left, leaving me all alone in my room. I sat on my bed, already wishing for this to be done.

***

When it was almost midnight, Beta Ryan came for me. He offered me his arm and I loped mine through his, grateful for the extra support. I was afraid I might fall over and pass out from how tired I am. Ryan led me down the hall. "Are you nervous?"

"Kind of. I don't really know what to expect."

Ryan walked us outside, the wind sending chills down my body. "You'll be fine and you'll so great. Just breathe and relax."

"Where are we even going?"

Ryan led me into the woods. "We're going to the ritual grounds where stuff like this happens."

My feet were beginning to ache. I kept stepping on broken tree branches and rocks. "How much longer?"

"Not much, Luna because we're actually here."

Ryan led me down the aisle, wolves lining up besides me. They were each facing a makeshift stage. A fire was burning brightly and beside the fire stood Chance's parents. On the other side of the fire stood Chance. Ryan had left me at the beginning of the aisle and now stood next to Chance. When Chance and I made eye contact with me, I began walking the aisle, the soft grass tickling the space between my toes and making my aching feet feel much better. Chance smiled when he saw me and through our mind think said: Damn, you look so fucking beautiful.

I knew I was blushing but I was hoping that no one could see. When I made it to Chance, he extended his hand and lifted me up. The former Luna and Alpha nodded at Chance and I and then left the stage, taking a seat in the front row.

When Chance looked into the ground, everyone grew silent, no longer whispering about me. He looked at me and then into the crowed again. "Tonight, we welcome a new member into the Black Wolves Pack. We welcome Bailey Scotts, our new Luna and my mate."

Everyone howled in the crowd. Chance took the knife from Ryan and looked at me. "Repeat after me; I, Bailey Scotts."

I put my hand in Chances. "I, Bailey Scotts."

"Promise to protect this pack with everything I have. I promise to love every member and fight for them until the day I die."

I looked at Chance and I's intertwined hands and repeated what he said. Chance took the knife and sliced his palm. "Promise to be the best Luna I can be and promise to love every member and fight for them until the day i die."

I repeated Chance and Chance then cut my palm. "And I promise to obey the Elder's laws and worship the Moon Goddess."

After repeating Chance yet again, we placed our hands together. A swish of energy enveloped me and I heard so many new voices come into my head, congratulating me for becoming the new Luna. I did what Chance told me to do before the ceremony and turned the mind link off, blocking out the voices until I needed to actually contact someone.

Chance smiled and kissed my forehead. "We welcome you to the Black Wolves Pack."
