《The Alpha's Girl》Chapter 9

did you know you're an angel who forgot how to fly?

did you know it breaks my heart every time to see you cry?

___

I almost threw up. Sitting beside me was Chance. Chance was here. He was actually right next to me on this plane. I can't believe this is real. I stuck my hand out and touched his shoulder, ignoring the feeling it brought me and actually believing that he was physically right next to me. So many questions were running through my mind. "How did you even find me?"

Chance smirked, buckling his seat belt and leaning back in his chair. "Did you really think you could escape me. Sweetheart, you're horrible at this. You charged the ticket to my credit card, used my own computer, never logged out and didn't even clear the search history. So, I bought a ticket and decided to come along with you."

I frowned, hating how stupid I actually am. "I hate you."

Chance smiled, a lazy boyish smile. "No, you actually don't. You wish you did. Also, we're spending a few days in London so you shifting will most likely happen in London too. After you shift, we'll head back home."

"Where are you stay?" I asked, already planning my escape route for once we get off this plane.

"We will be staying with the London Wolves in the heart of London. I'm very close with their Alpha and so he willingly is letting us stay with him for the weekend. I haven't seen him in a long time and so it'll be good for us to catch up. On another note, who were you planning on staying with? You'll need to cancel your plans with them."

I glanced out the window and wondered if I could just jump out into the clouds. "With my ex-boyfriend's sister."

I could feel Chance staring at me. I turned to look at him and he didn't look happy. "With your what?"

I smiled a little bit, knowing I was getting under his skin. "My ex-boyfriend's sister."

Chance growled, a low territorial growl that made me shiver. His fingers began to tighten on the plush seats. "You're kidding me, right?"

I shook my head, loving the reaction I was getting from him. "No, I'm serious."

"Who is this guy? What's his name? Did you two ever have sex? Oh, my goddess, Bailey, my wolf is going crazy right now. You need to calm me down before I shift!"

My eyes went wide. Tourting Chance had been fun but now I felt bad. "You can't shift on a plane! Are you crazy?"

Chance's eyes were glowing yellow and he was shaking. "Please, do something to calm him down."

He whimpered and my heart broke. I put my hand on top of his and rubbed my thumb against the back of his hand. He took a deep breath and his eyes began to go back to their normal shade.

"Are you okay?" I asked, my hand still on top of his.

He nodded, closing his eyes and leaning back in the chair. "Yeah, thanks."

I smiled. "This doesn't mean that I like you. I still hate you. I just couldn't have you outing the entire werewolf world to a bunch of humans on this plane."

Chance simply nodded his head and then looked away from me. I put my hands in my lap and once I thought he was actually sleeping, I looked at him and frowned. "By the way, he won't be a problem anymore. He's gone, for a very long time. His name isn't important but I swear to you we didn't do anything."

I bit my lip, a pain erupting in my chest knowing I had lied a bit to Chance because Carter and I did more, more than I ever really wanted to do.

We landed about eleven hours later. My butt was officially numb and there was a soreness in my neck from leaning against the hard window to sleep. I hated flying and I was starting to regret flying across the ocean.

I looked at my sleeping mate and tapped his shoulder. "Chance...Chance...Chance wake up we've landed."

Chance sat up, rubbing his eyes. "I'm surprised you didn't leave me on the plane and just run."

I shrugged my shoulders. "You would have found me anyway."

Chance chuckled. "I would go to the ends of the earth to find out. We need you."

I didn't say anything, what was I even supposed to say to something like that? Chance stood up and grabbed our bags from the overhead storage. I got off the plane behind him and he led me to a waiting car outside. "Who is this?"

Chance put our bags in the trunk. "This is the Beta of the London Wolves."

The man looked at me and bowed. "Hello, Luna, very nice to finally meet you."

I felt a little weird that he bowed to me. "Bailey is just fine."

He stuck his hand out. "Well, Bailey, I'm Beta Jack. Nice to meet you."

I shook his head. "You as well."

Jack turned his attention to Chance. "Good to see you again, man."

Chance smiled and brought Jack in for a hug. "You too, it's been too long. How's Holden?"

"He's doing good. Him and his mate are expecting twins soon."

Chance's face lit up. "That's amazing! I can't wait to see everyone."

Chance and Jack exchanged a few more words. Chance opened the car door for me when the two had stopped talking. I sat in the back by myself while Chance sat up front with Jack, both of them talking the whole ride to the pack. Within a half hour, we had made it to the woods. Jack drove for another half hour and we made it to a beautiful community with so many houses and a really large pack house.

"This place is huge." I said, in awe of everything that's in front of me.

Chance smiled and opened the car door for me, our bags already being carried inside the pack house by Jack. "Their pack has almost 1,500 wolves. They are the third largest pack in the world."

I gasped. "I thought you had a lot."

Chance shook his head. "We have an average pack but we also have some of the best fighters in the country."

I didn't say anything and got out of the car. Chance grabbed my hand and for once, I didn't pull away. I let him lead me to the pack house. We followed Jack up the stairs and to what I assumed was the Alpha's office. Jack knocked and opened the double doors. The office was twice the size of Chance's.

When we entered the room, the Alpha perked up from his desk. "Chance!"

Chance laughed. "Hey man, how have you been?"

Holden smiled. "Amazing, the Luna and I are expecting within the next month or so."

At the mention of herself, his Luna looked at us and I gasped. She was breathtaking. She was very beautiful and I could tell she was treated like royalty here.

"Who is this?" She asked, coming over and giving Chance a hug. Why was there this weird feeling in me when she hugged him?

Chance smiled, wrapping an arm around my waist and bringing me closer to him. "This is my mate, Bailey. Bailey, this is Alpha Holden and his mate, Luna Lydia."

"Nice to meet you both." I Said, shaking both of their hands.

"Alright, did you want to get to business or are you jet legged and need some sleep?"

Chance looked at me and I yawned. "I'm going to show Bailey the room and I'll be back. Same room as last time?"

Holden nodded. "Yeah, I'm going to help Lydia into bed. Meet me back in here and we'll talk about the rouges."

I was confused with the term that Holden just used but I would ask Chance when I wasn't so tired. He led me down the hallway and into a large bedroom.

"This is the room I usually stay in when I come here. Sleep in the bed and I'll take the couch over there. I'll be down the hallway with Holden if you need me. Sleep tight, beautiful."

I said goodnight back and then changed into my pajamas when Chance left. I turned off the light and climbed into bed. Just as I was about to fall asleep, I screamed out in pain. A burning feeling went down my spine and my back arched. My breathing was becoming labored and I literally felt like I was dying. I screamed again, pain coming from all directions of my body.

When I was about to yell out for Chance, Chance and Holden came running into the room. I heard Holden's voice but I couldn't see him. "What is happening?"

Chance came over to me, picking me up. "She's shifting. Her dominate wolf gene has been activated. This wasn't supposed to happen for a few more days."

I heard Holden gasp. "She's too old for this, Chance. Let me get my pack doctor and quick, or she can die."

I heard Chance curse and then I screamed again, feeling my bones crack.

I passed out after that.
