《The Alpha's Girl》Chapter 7

I don't know how long I have been running for, but I wasn't tired or out of breath. My stamina has improved so much that after what felt like an hour of running, I finally felt the burning in my lungs, the need to stop and take a deep breath. I should keep running, as far as I could because I knew that I shouldn't give my rights up as a human. I am a human and so I don 't go by the werewolf community. It sounds like complete bullshit and I know that I'm not ready for any of this, I probably never will be. This is life changing and over the many years I have been alive, I have had too many life altering situations to happen to me.

After finally catching my breath, I took off again. I ran through burning that came with every breath I took and through the ache that was appearing in my legs because I knew Chance couldn't be far behind me. I tried not think about him on all fours and me on two and so I kept running, clearing my mind and focusing on one thing: my freedom.

When the sun had began to set and the moon was high, I began to panic. I had no idea where I was and I was scared. The trees were higher in these parts of the woods and the stream of eater I was used too, had gotten a whole lot thicker. I wasn't good at swimming and with how fast the water was moving, I was sure that I wouldn't make it across alive. But, if I wanted to live my own life, I knew I had to jump into the lake and swim to the other side.

I jumped in, feeling the current pull me down and I struggled to keep my head up. Water was filling my lungs and I began to panic even more, already regretting this. With all the strength I had left in my body, I grabbed onto a tree branch and pulled myself up, letting myself be able to touch the grass on the other side of the river. When I rolled onto the grass, coughing up water, I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down. I heard a tree branch crack and I jumped up, a bad feeling settling into the pit of my stomach.

I turned around and saw a man behind me. He was holding a tranquilizer and looked like somebody I did not want to mess with. "State your name, pack, rank, and why you are trespassing on Alpha Brandon Hayes' territory."

I blinked and stepped back, tripping over a rock and almost falling. Maybe if I played stupid, he would let me go. "Pack? Rank? I'm lost and don't know where I am. My names Bailey Scotts. I went walking through the woods earlier and got lost and fell into the river. I live back in Black Wolf's County. Could you please help me?"

The man had a small smile on his face. He lowered the tranquilizer and took a step toward me while I took another step back, still not ready to trust him yet. "By the smell of it, you are human but there is something else there, like the scent of another wolf. It smells familiar. You must know something of my kind? Who are you running from? We can possibly help you here at Golden Wolves Pack and get you somewhere safe. However, if you're playing dumb and lying to me, then my Alpha won't be happy and he might just kill you mercifully."

I took a deep breath, wanting to play my cards right so I don't end up in Chance's hands again or dead, "I know a little about your kind but I'm running to escape from one of you. He's trying to hurt me and kidnap me. I don't want to say any names in case he comes looking for me or you if you do help me. He wants to control me and strip me of my rights as a person and I just met him last week! He's trying to make me his slave. You really need to help me, please."

The man nodded and slowly began to raise the tranquilizer so that it was pointing at me again. I back away, panicking. "What are you doing? Please! You have to help me! You don't understand, he'll kill me!"

The man came closer to me and when I backed up, I was at the edge of the water again. I felt like I was going to throw up. "Okay, Bailey, why don't you tell me the truth?"

I blinked, shocked and scared shitless. "I did. Everything I told you is the truth! I wouldn't lie, please help me"

"Then why is Alpha Chance Hayes staring you down like he wants to kill you or something?"

I turned around and screamed because there was Chance, standing there in just a ratty pair of basketball shorts hanging dangerously low on his hips. "I didn't-, oh God, hes actually going to kill me. You need to help me!"

Chance smirked and came closer to me and the man, "Hey man, how's Brandon doing?"

"He's good, was wondering when you were going to come around again."

Chance sighed and looked at me. "Well, once I get my mate under control, her and I will come over and I'll introduce her to everyone in the Golden Wolves."

The man lowered his tranquilizer again. "This is your mate?"

Chance nodded, "Sadly,"

"Oh, dude, I'm so sorry! If I had known I would have sent her right back to your pack."

I coughed, trying to get their attention. "How do you know him?"

Chance smirked, "Oh, Bails, out of all the places to run to, you decide to run onto my brother's territory."

"You said you had sisters."

Chance shrugged. "And a brother."

Before I could run again, something stung me in the back of my shoulder and then, I was down on the ground, blackness taking over.

When I woke up, the sun was shining brightly through the curtains. Looking around, I knew I wasn't at my house and from the smell of things, I was going to assume I was in Chance's house. I sighed, already wanting to jump out the window beside me. When I got up, I went directly to the window to try and open it but it was locked. There was a post it note taped to the window that read:

I internally threw up. I crumbed up the letter and threw it into the trash can in the bathroom. I looked at the clothes left for me, a pair of shorts, a band t-shirt, underwear and socks. I looked at myself in the mirror and cringed. My hair was everywhere and there were bags under my eyes. I showered, loving the feeling of the hot water running down me and the feeling of being clean again.

I got out of the shower after a little whole and quickly dressed in case Chance came into the room. Feeling self-conscious about the shirt being short sleeved, I grabbed a hoodie from the closet and put it on. I breathed in the smell and sighed, hating myself for loving the smell of it.

When I was finished getting dressed, I used Chance's hair brush to brush my hair. When I was done, I opened the bedroom door, expecting to see guards or someone standing at the door but there was no one there. The hallway was completely empty. The house must be big because the hallways look like they go on forever. There were many doors and I already was growing frustrated because I felt lost and missed my family already. Even though they wouldn't save me from Chance, I still missed them and needed them here with me. Did they know where I was? Are they looking for me? Worried I might never come home?

Shaking my head from these terrible thoughts, I turned right and walked passed some more doors and found the stairs. I heard voices and was mentally preparing myself to come face to face with people I could give two shits about. If I was disrespectful, maybe he'll kick me out and never want to see me again.

When I made it downstairs, I was standing in the kitchen. Two people were sitting at the table. I didn't see Chance anywhere so maybe I could run out the door that's in the back of the kitchen without getting caught. When I bumped into the kitchen chair, the two people looked at me. I nodded my head at them a continued walking towards the fridge, hoping there was something in there for me to eat.

The woman came over to me and squeezed me into a hug. I felt like I was suffocating and I also felt extremely uncomfortable. "Oh Goddess! You must be Bailey. I have been dying to meet you. I'm Chance's mom. You can call me Mary if you like. This is my husband, Bill. We have been waiting to meet you since Chance brought you back two nights ago."

His parents seemed like the nicest people ever, how was I supposed to be mean to them? It's not their fault their son is a raging maniac who likes to kidnap people.

I almost chocked on the orange juice I was drinking, "Two nights ago?"

Mary nodded, "Yes, because you haven't shifted yet, the anesthesia in the darts were too strong for you so we just needed you to sleep them off."

I scoffed, annoyed that this is happened. "Chance said he had sisters?"

Mary nodded. "Yes, but they're at school right now. You can meet them later tonight at the BBQ."

"The what?"

Mary looked too excited. "Yes! To welcome out new Luna into the pack!"

I stepped back. "Chance didn't tell me about this and I decline being Luna, sorry."

Bill sighed. "Sorry, she's really excited about everything. Mary, I think Chance and Bailey need to speak about things. It was nice meeting you and I can't wait to get to know you."

"Yeah, you too." I said, "Also where can I find Chance?"

Bill pointed upstairs, "Head up, turn left and he should be in his office. It's the double doors at the end of the hallway. He is probably busy though, getting paper work together. He will be happy to see you awake."

"Thank you." I said and followed Bill's instructions. Before I could even knock on the door I was standing in front of, I heard Chance's voice.

"Come in, mate."

I was so scared,

Lord, grant me the serenity to survive these next few days before I escape for good.
