.................................................................................
Mannat Mirza Hamdani, a 25 years old girl who had to spend her whole life waiting, for happiness, for her twin, for her husband, and their reunion.
After 13 years of painful and miserable wait, she had her twin back and their family fought a storm with unity.
Mannat was a pure soul with a golden heart, a beauty who had to endure most and cried most.
She was loved by many and protected by them but the one who was destined to love and protect her was not here for his work, he had gone away years ago.
Mannat smiled as she looked at the passing trees and glowing lights of Lahore road.
They are going home after the walima function and Umer treats them with ice-cream but Mannat always prefers gol gappy.
She looked at her palms that are adorned with blood-red color but his name was the most prominent, Murad.
Her husband, who went away years ago and never come back.
She was happy for her sister and her Umer Bhai but a little part of her broken heart envy them for getting their happily ever after.
Their family is happy because their kids are finally happy and together.
The function finished after the whole of posing for the pictures, attending guests, smiling straight for 5 hours.
They get home after an eventful day and Mannat just wanted to relax and rest but she didn't know that another storm is waiting for her.
"We are home ladies,"
Umer cheered as the trio rolled their eyes at his cheerfulness.
He was acting like a kid on sugar rush since morning, maybe he is, Mannat giggled at her thought.
Umer and Adam helped Mannat and Jannat from the car as they reached home.
Everyone else arrived beforehand because they went for ice-cream on Jannat's demand.
After all, what his wife wants, she gets it, according to Umer.
"Look they have finally graced us with their presence,"
Hadiya beghum spoke sarcastically as they laughed at her sour expression because they didn't ask her for ice-cream.
"Mama we got everyone ice-cream... don't get mad at us,"
Adam teased his mother whose eyes sparkled like a kid, making everyone laugh.
"Shafi Bhai... Please take these bags and serve everyone,"
The servants took the bags and they all say down.
Mannat and Jannat are talking about something and Umer was busy with business talk when the house bell ringed.
"Are we expecting someone? Who will be that at this time?"
Shafiq Sahab frowned as the servant went to open the door, but the moment they saw the person standing there, they all are stunned.

Shameen beghum can't believe her eyes, no one can. She was the first one to ran to his awaited arms and hug him crying her heart out.
"Mera bacha... Mera Murad,"
She was crying as she hugged him tightly, Mannat squeezed Jannat hand as she can't believe it. He is here, he came back, he is here, she thought but she can't move.
"You came back home... Mera Bacha aa gaya,"
(My child is back)
"Yes, mama... I am back... I am home,"
He spoke in his husky voice, sending a shiver down Mannat spine. She can't breathe as she looked at him in disbelief.
Jannat patted her back letting her breathe and calm down.
"Manna baby... Breath... It's ok... He is back... Everything will be ok now,"
Mannat took a deep breath as she looked at her husband of 13 years for the first time in these years, the picture didn't do any justice to him. He is a walking Adonis for her.
Mannat smiled shyly as she looked down at the teasing look Jannat was giving her while the men were just expressionless.
Shameen beghum dragged him inside the house, she didn't notice the girl who was standing beside her son.
Everyone was happy to meet Murad but then Hadiya beghum saw the girl who was still standing there.
"Who are you beta? Is she your friend Murad?"
Shameen beghum was busy asking him questions that she didn't let anyone else meet him and didn't even notice the girl.
"Who is she, Murad? Why are you standing there beta... Come inside... You must be his friend or colleague... right?"
Murad looked at the girl and nodded at her to come inside, she came and stand beside him, too close for Mannat likeness.
Everyone else also notices it and confusion marred their faces.
Murad looked at his parents, he knew it is a now or never situation as he speaks with a confident voice.
"Mama... Baba... This is Sanam... My wife,"
Those words, those words are like a thunderbolt for everyone present there.
Shameen beghum pulled away from him in disbelief, the men looked ready to kill.
Mannat can't believe her ears as she stumbled back, Jannat quickly caught her, her own eyes teary.
"What the hell are you saying, Murad? Are you high or something? If this is a joke then stop it before I forget that you are my son,"
Shafiq Sahab roared as his eyes showed the truthfulness of his words and Murad just looked at him with a blank face.
"I am not joking Baba... I got married to Sanam last month... She is my wife and I wanted you all to accept her...,"
Before he can complete his words, a loud slap resonated in the room.
His face tilted to the left with a red print on his cheek. Everyone gasped as Shameen beghum cradle her red hand.
Sanam moved toward Murad but he signaled her to not move.
Mannat felt the ground sinking and the world turning upside down.
"Jannat... Take manna to her room please... my son needs some serious talking right now...,"
Murad knew she was broken at the moment but he didn't bring himself to look at her, but Mannat eyes are not leaving him.
She was looking at the girl, who he claimed as his wife who was giving pity looks to her.
She just walks with her twin as she heard all hell broke loose as the screaming increased but she is numb to everything.
She is destroyed, the man whom she loved for years came back but not alone, he came back with his wife, his second wife.

............
Everyone waited till the twins are out of sight, Shafiq Sahab holds his collar shaking him vigorously, while Shameen beghum looks like she will kill him for this stunt.
Mirza Sahab fell back on the couch and Umer was standing beside him looking equally angry.
"How could you Murad? How could you do this to us, to her? Don't you have any mercy on us... You are killing us with your actions for years and this is the final blow,"
Shafiq Sahab punched him as Sonia gasped but stay put.
Everyone else in the room didn't move because they are feeling the same anger and pain.
"Baba please...,"
"Don't call me Baba... You don't deserve any relation. A man who took his relations for granted is never a man worth them. From today you are nothing to me, Murad... I only have one son... Just one,"
Murad looked shocked but he knew this will be the reaction he got. He looked at his mother who asked him something.
"Why Murad? Why did you do this?"
He shook his head as tears blurred his vision, the bottle up anger of years came out at that moment.
"You wanted me to accept your decision years ago... I did... Now I want you to accept mine... Then why can't you? Isn't that hypocrisy?"
This time Umer lunged at his brother and pushed him away, Murad was breathing heavily but so was Umer and everyone present there.
"Don't present it like what you did is ok... You ruined a life today... You are nothing but a pathetic excuse of a man,"
Murad was going to punch him when Shameen beghum pushed both of them and turned to Murad.
"Stop it both of you... Umer steps back... And you... You know what you did and what we did... We did it to unite our family but what you did destroy everything Murad... everything... You are responsible for your chacho condition... Look at him... He is broken because you ruined his daughter... You are responsible for everything... Every tear and heartbreak,"
Murad looked at Mirza Sahab and guilt gripped his heart but then he looked away.
He can't go on the guilt trip because his hate and anger for years were much more intense.
"I am sorry for everything mama... But I made my decision. I married Sonia and she is my wife... My only wife,"
"Then what is Mannat to you? Huh... What is my Mannat to you?"
This time Mirza Sahab yelled as he stood up with blazing eyes.
Umer and Adam hold him when he stumbled back because he is feeling weak and broken inside.
Murad didn't speak, he didn't have the answer. He was ashamed but he was not going to answer.
"Leave it, Mirza... He doesn't deserve our Mannat... She is a gem and he was not worthy of her... Just get out of my house now Murad... Leave this moment before I call security to throw you out... And never come back again,"
Everyone turned to Shafiq Hamdani who spoke in a stern voice.
He had announced the decision while Murad looked at him in disbelief.
"Baba...,"
"No Murad... I am dead to you... I only had one son from today... You don't even have to come to my funeral... You are free to do whatever you want... Please leave my house,"
Murad looked at his mother but she turned away, for Shameen beghum her husband's words are final even when it broke her heart.
Murad nodded his head as he holds Sanam's hand and looked at everyone. Sanam protested but no one listens to her.
"Uncle please don't do this to him... He is your son... Please,"
He shook his head at her and they turned around to go back but stopped at the doorstep.
"Stop Murad...,"
Hadiya beghum called him before he can move out.
Shameen beghum felt a little relieved because even when she loved Mannat and hate Murad for what he did, he was still her son, her flesh.
"Appa... What are you doing?"
Shafiq Sahab was shocked but his anger was still high as he asked his elder sister.
"He is still a Hamdani... I know what he did is worst and he didn't deserve any kindness but he is still the eldest son of our family... We can't leave the family alone for their wrongdoings Shafiq,"
"But phupho...,"
Hadiya beghum shook her head at Umer and he nodded in respect.
No one in the Hamdani family disrespect Hadiya Khan, her decision is the final decision.
"I know the pain Umer... I have myself endure it but we shouldn't think with anger on our mind... You can stay here Murad... But you have to gain everyone's forgiveness and trust... Shafi Bhai take their bags to Murad room and please see to their needs...,"
"Appa please don't do this,"
Shafiq Sahab was now getting angrier, this is the first time he was not accepting something his elder sister said.
Mirza Sahab stood up and speak, his words shocking everyone.
"Appa is right Bhai Jaan... We can't throw family out for their wrongs... I have done many in years... He should stay here,"
Murad was now feeling angry at himself but he keeps looking down. But Mirza Sahab was not done yet.
"This didn't mean that I forgive you Murad Hamdani... I will never forgive you for what you did to my manna, you broke a heart who always prayed for your safety, a heart who was loving you for years, and a heart who was your Muntazir... You lost much more today son... I just pray that you will be happy after destroying my daughter,"
Umer and Adam took Mirza Sahab to the couch and glared at Murad who had fear in his eyes.
The intensity of his chacho words clenched his heart and he looked at his phupho.
"Thank you phupho...,"
It's just a whisper, Hadiya beghum just turned away and sat beside her younger brother to consoles him.
"Shafi take the guests to their room... We have to discuss some family issues and they are not needed,"
The cold words of his father hurt him but he knew he deserves this.
He took his wife's hand and goes towards his old room with a heavy heart and bleeding soul.
He looked around his house and they walked past a room from where they can hear the smashing of things and screaming.
Sanam felt bad for his family and he gulped his emotions because he was also hurting.
They reached their room and Sanam hugged him after the servant went away and closed the door.
"I am sorry Murad... So sorry...,"
"it's ok... They loved her so much... I expected this reaction... It's just a bad time... It will pass away if we stand together...,"
Sanam nodded at him as she buried her face in his chest but Murad was thinking about what had he done.
He had broken so many hearts, what if his own heart got broke in the end?
Only time can tell what will happen next and how to survive the coming storms.
............
Everyone in the living room had tears in their eyes and anger was coming in waves from them.
Shafiq Sahab turned toward his younger brother who was crying in his hands, he felt responsible for his son's deed.
Shameen beghum and Shafiq Sahab went to Mirza Sahab and joined their hands, asking for forgiveness.
"Please forgive us Mirza Bhai... We are also responsible for his doing... Please,"
"Yes, Mirza... Punish us, curse us, do whatever you want but please forgive us...,"
Mirza Sahab wiped his tears as he holds their joined hands, shaking his head.
"No Bhai Jaan... Bhabhi... Please don't do this... You can't do anything... This is written in my manna fate. My doll was meant to be broken by the one she loved,"
"No... It's our fault... We should have gone and slapped some senses into him in the first few years... If we had done that then we will have not seen this day,"
Mirza Sahab cried more as he cursed himself for this day.
"No... No one else is responsible but I... If I didn't beg you to marry her with Murad... If I didn't get scared and unsecured, thinking that my manna will also go away from me... If I didn't beg you for this relation then this wouldn't have happened,"
Mirza Sahab remembers that day he begged and pleaded with his elder brother for marrying his daughter with Murad because he was of legal age.
Shafiq Sahab and Shameen beghum were not agreed but looking at Mannat losing self and Mirza Sahab pleading they agreed.
Mirza Hamdani wanted to secure his daughter's future so Husn-ara beghum can't take her away but in that insecurities, he ruined her further.
Murad was not happy with this, that why he went abroad for his graduation and masters after one week, leaving everyone heartbroken.
Before anyone can say anything they heard crashing sounds and screaming. The scream of pure agony and misery.
"Mannat...,"
Mirza Sahab whispered as he ran towards his daughter's room.
The whole family on his tail but stop at the door when they heard her painful crying.
They didn't bring themselves to go and see her like this, so broken and damaged so they let Mirza Sahab and Jannat handle her.
They all went to their room with teary eyes and heavy hearts, sleep far away from their mind.
........
Mannat was numb, she didn't utter a single word single they came upstairs.
Jannat was looking at the statue, Mannat eyes are void of any emotions, her face pale and her body lifeless.
It's been a few minutes now and not a single tear leave her eyes.
Jannat was crying and talking to her but it's like Mannat can't hear anything at the moment.
"Manna... Baby... Speak, cry, scream, do anything but don't be silent... Please,"
"I need a moment Jannat,"
She stood up on wobbly legs and moved toward the bathroom with a trembling body.
When Jannat moved to follow her Mannat stop her without turning around.
"Alone Jannat... Please,"
Jannat whispered 'ok' as she sat back on the bed and look at her baby sister who was the life of this house turn into stone.
"Why Allah miyan? Why?"
Jannat cried as she put her head in her hands, praying for her future and her mental health.
Mannat moved toward the sink and stood there looking at the reflection. She frowned at herself, wiping the make-up smudging it.
"I am not good enough for him...,"
With those words the dam broke loose, a tear escapes her eye as she keeps looking at herself with hate in her eyes, with self-loathing and pain.
"You are never good enough for him...,"
She was talking to her reflection, suddenly she remembered everything.
She caressed the mirror and more tears followed the trail.
"You waste your whole life waiting for the wrong person Mannat Mirza Hamdani, Uski Muntazir jisko mere intazar ki zaroorat hi Nahi thi,"
(Awaiting for him who didn't need my wait)
"First your mother leaves you, your twin moved away, he went away... They all leave me... When I got a little bit of happiness... Waiting for him... He came back but with her... The woman who he claimed his wife... Then who am I? WHO AM I!!?"
Mannat picked the perfume bottle and hurled it on the mirror breaking it into million pieces.
She fell on her knees as she looked at the pieces broken like her soul. She throws all the toiletries on the floor alerting Jannat.
Mannat saw his name in her hands and caressed it but the sight of him with his wife caused her to hyperventilate.
"She is his wife...no... No... I... I,"
She didn't want to hurt him more, she smashed her hands on the pieces to erase everything.
Jannat ran toward the bathroom when she heard the crash followed by Mannat howling in pain.
The scene in front of her cause nausea to rise but she controls herself and hold her sister who was still sitting on the broken pieces.
"Mannat!!!,"
She ran towards her, mindful of the glass pieces but gasped when she saw Mannat bleeding hands.
Mannat was still crying and screaming, as she looked at the broken pieces repeating the same words.
"Who am I? Huh... If she is his wife then who am I? I waited for him to come back to me... Me!!! But he comes back with his wife...,"
Jannat didn't know how to stop the heart-wrenching sobs of Mannat when she also wanted to join her sister in her pain.
"Manna...,"
A horrified whisper got Jannat's attention because Mannat was lost in her sorrow.
She was so numb a few minutes ago but now it's like a hurricane of emotions hit her and bring her back to reality.

8 182The Woman In The Palace
Highest rank #1 in Historical He glared at me with irritation. "Come inside!" ...And I did. He pointed to the stack of books on the floor. "Pick them up and arrange them the way they're supposed to."With trembling hands, I did what he asked quickly. Fret in the way I moved, picking up the books into my arms and lap one by one only for them to fall back on the floor over and over. I was a mess, upset, and it was obvious. This wasn't the kind of first meeting I dreamed of.The second prince was mean, and he was irritable. He had no clue who I am which made me resent it even more.He scowled as he watched me made mistakes after mistakes and after a while, he grew frustrated and bent over, picking the books himself."Forgive me, I didn't mean to snarl at you the way I did. I'm not used to being distracted. No one ever walks in my office unless they have my permission. I don't even know how the guardsmen let you in." I wanted to say because unlike you, they recognized who I am. But I kept my mouth shut in fear of aggravating his anger. His voice took a lot gentler tone, I imagined he must've realized how upset I was and felt bad about it.I said nothing. When we're done, I rose up to my feet, couldn't wait to get out of this room. This man was so impolite to me that I couldn't wait to get away from him."I apologize, your highness. I didn't mean to distract you in your private office." I stepped back getting ready to leave when a sliver of sunlight struck highlighting my face. "Wait!" He murmured and I turned back to look at him."You're beautiful." He said breathlessly.I would have blushed, but he was so mean and rude to me that his compliment lost its impact long ago."I need to go," I told him."Wait." A wave of panic rose in the tide of his voice. The prince was afraid to lose me. "What's your name, girl?" He asked quickly. "Jasmine, my name is Jasmine, your highness.""My Jasmine?" He murmured hopeful.
