"Curly, please relax. It's over, everyone's safe. You can stop worrying now!"
Almost the entire school building was vacant, only a few students and even fewer teachers staying there for the holidays. It made a perfect opportunity for Harry and Louis to sneak out, go on adventures like climbing on the roof again or sleeping in the woods for a night. So, normally they'd do that, but... with all that had happened lately, they felt like they'd had enough adventure for the time being. At that moment, they just anted calmness, a cuddle in a safety. That was why they were already lying in bed at 8 PM on the first day of Christmas break.
"I know I should," Harry breathed in Louis' neck, at the same time pulling him closer, "I just can't stop thinking of Niall. I worry 'bout him."
"Don't," Louis responded in a whisper, treading his fingers through the younger lad's mop of curls, "He'll survive the transformation, I'm sure of it. I could smell his body already changing and right now, Liam is taking good care of him. He'll be okay."
"His life's gonna be so different. He'll only be able to see his family for another five years maximum, because of his lack of agein, and he'll have to learn handle his blood thirst as well!" Harry's voice got a slight hysterical edge again, his concern trickling down into his words.
"Those are worries for later, love. Liam and I, we'll definitely help him, we have experience with it, so he won't go through all that all by himself. Just be thankful we could save him, that he'll live, even though he'll live as an undead."
"I am," Harry spoke up determined, "I definitely am!" He was silent for a bit before asking with a small voice, "Do... Do you think Zayn meant it when he said he preferred Niall being death than a parasite?"
"Of course not," Louis immediately comforted him, voice steady and sure, "He was just afraid and fear makes us say stuff we don't mean. He's convinced that transforming one into a vampire will wipe away one's personality and turn them into a monster. He's a werewolf, how could he not hate our kind? The moment he sees that Niall is almost the same as before, he'll turn by. I'm sure of it."
Harry felt the sudden urge to peck Louis on the lips so he did just that, "Okay, that does make some sense, I guess. Thanks, Lou," he smiled.
"You're very welcome, Curly."
Louis closed his eyes, pulling Harry even closer, their legs tangling together. They lied like that for a while, breathing together, chests lifting and going down simultaneously.
"Is there something else, Curly?"
"No..." Harry hesitated, "Why would there be?"
Louis let out a small chuckle, opening his eyes again so he could look fondly at his curly haired boy.
"You know I can literally smell the nerves, the stress in your blood, right?"
"Oh, yeah," Harry blushed, "It's just... You don't age, right?" For some reason did his heart start pounding louder, blood rushing through his veins. It was all Louis could concentrate on.
"That's right. What about it?"
His question got ignored, "And, well, I do age?"
"Yes, that's right again. You're very sharp today, Curly."
Harry slapped him on the thigh playfully for his ironic answer, "How is this…," he made a hand gesture, pointing at Louis and himself, "…going to work? You said we're Blood mates, but we cannot be together. One day I'll be eighty and you'll still look eighteen. Bloody hell, Lou! Doesn't that bother you?"

Louis was slightly taken aback by Harry's reaction, "Of course it does bother me," he said in a small voice, trying to ease the situation, "However I tend to avoid thinking of it for the time being. We still have a couple of years and I definitely won't turn you while you're still in High School. Just, don't worry about it yet. And for the record, I'll still love you when you look eighty and I seventeen."
The boy didn't answer to that, Louis only noticing a small smile and a dazed look. He then gazed up at Louis, green gems visible between the crowns of eyelashes, being more beautiful than ever before. Yes, Louis was still daily taken aback by the boy's mesmerizing appearance, taking his breath away.
"You love me?" His voiced sounded smug.
"Of course I do, you foolish Curly," louis grinned lovingly at his boy, petting the brown curls.
"Well, I love you too."
They lied like that for a while, thinking about each other's three words. They had been through a lot, probably will go through a lot more, but it was still amazing that they'd found each other. The steps from acquaintances to friends to lovers had gone so smooth, edges blurred, it felt almost natural like it was supposed to happen like that, like they would end up with each other no matter which world, which universe, no matter what time and place they met, the would always end up together. They were soul mates. They were blood mates.
"You've never told me exactly how you got turned," Harry asked sleepily, afterwards demanding, "Tell me your story!"
"Alright, I do have to warn you that it's probably not a happy story. It's not sad either. It just is what it is."
Harry nodded, patiently waiting for the older boy to begin and snuggling deeper in his embrace. He closed his eyes, seeming like he thought Louis would be telling him a bedtime story.
"Like I told you, I was born at the end of the 17th century," Louis started, "It was the early modern period, ancien régime, half a century later, the industrial revolution would take over England, but at that moment we, of course, didn't know that yet. There was a king named William, I, think, soon to be succeeded by a queen. We didn't really care of course, we just cared about our own family, trying to avoid starvation. We, my parents, my sister and I, were a poor family. Not very poor, my dad had a job and he cared about us, gave us everything we needed, but nothing like the nobility of course. It was not great, we often dreamt of golden sheets and food bigger than your head, but it was good, livable. That was, until my dad left us when I was nine. My mum and he had been fighting quite a lot and then, from one day to another, he just left. Left us all by ourselves with barely enough food to survive. They started to beg for money and I tried to find work, which was not that easy for a nine year old at that time, actually. It didn't work, we god thinner and thinner, sometimes eating nothing for three days. My sister died first, a week before my mum gave up too, the loss of Charlotte had probably been the last straw."
He halted for a bit, his eyes set on a time and place in another century. It had been so long since he'd though about them again, even longer since he had thought about their death, and even if it had been more than 300 years, it still hurt.

Harry patiently waited for him to continue, not wanting to be disrespectful, feeling that Louis just needed some time. It helpen, 'cause a moment later Louis started again, continuing his story.
"I became a real street kid afterwards, mostly wandering around the port, waiting for someone to need some help for sake of a bit of bread, sometimes I got a whole fish if they were in a good mood. Those were the best days. Then one day a huge ship arrived at the port, well, that wasn't unusual, there were often huge ships mostly part of the royal fleet, but this wasn't. It had high black sails and a white skull, coloured with red blood on the black flag. It was mesmerizing and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever. As a young lad, of course, it looked like a great adventure, so I tried to sneak in and that way met Liam, the captain of the ship, better known as the immortal death, because he had been looking the same way for more than fifty years and it was well known that he was invincible. Every man that looked into his eyes would die a moment later."
"Liam was a pirate?!" Harry interrupted him, eyes wide open from surprise. He just couldn't imagine kind, polite Liam being an infamous criminal sailing the Seven Seas.
"Yes, he was," Louis smiled, "Back then he was in a bad time, a couple of years, or centuries after his break with Danielle. He started to hate life and found the only way to enjoy it, freedom, rum and water everywhere you could see. He wasn't that bad of a pirate, actually, he never stole from the poor only from the obnoxious rich ships. He even donated some money to orphanages after I joined him."
"Wait, you really joined him? You became a pirate?"
"Yes, I did. He saved me, took me on the ships and taught me to be a real sailor, a real pirate. First I was like a son to him, then a younger brother, in the end I was his most trusted man, his best man actually on the ship and, most importantly, his only real friend. He instantly grew fond of me and I of him, even though I did notice some pretty odd quirks like his lack of ageing or his immense strength. I didn't question it too much, though."
"What happened then? How did you get turned?" Harry asked, getting impatient. The story Louis told him sounded unbelievable, a fictive story not a biography. He just couldn't believe Louis had experienced a true pirate life.
"After a couple of years, there was a big fight. The Royal fleet had hunt us down, attacking with at least thirty ships. It was awful. Every man of our ship fought for his life, doing everything they could, but all struggle was futile. They won. Liam was of course alright, but I wasn't. Just before I would've gone down with our shinking ship, he must've saved me and turned me. I don't remember it of course. Afterwards he just told me he had grown too fond of me and found it unfair of my life to end already. He also explained everything of course, and well, I believed him instantly. All pieces just clicked. I could feel the new strength, feel the thirst, feel the change.
Without a boat and with our whole crew dead, we just wandered around England. Wiping ourselves from all history books was our mission. Liam was better, kinder. Afterwards we went to the continent. We experienced the French Revolution, which was an amazing time, we were part of the battle in Waterloo to defeat Napoleon, we saw the first trains on the continent in Belgium, and then we parted to the New World, America. We wandered around the continent for more than hundred years, before returning to England as the World Wars started. After World War II, we traveled around Poland, Austria, Spain, Portugal and ended up in Berlin, 'cause we had heard the Wall was about to fall and we wanted to experience that too. Then came the yugoslavian war and, well, we just wanted to help every time, we were immortal so why not fight for someone’s freedom? It felt like the right thing to do, most of the time we just tried to find the revolutions and the wars. At the end of that, we came back to England once again. We always come back here, always visit the place we were born first and then travel wherever, mostly going to school as we look like teenagers, on the brim of twenty years old."
Harry was absolutely awed. The lad looked like a normal eighteen year old, but had experienced more than 300 years of history. He had seen it all with his own bright blue eyes. It felt impossible.
"So that was that," he shrugged like he had just told a useless fact, a stupid tale not his life.
"That's so unreal," Harry eventually brought out before he was stopped by a yawn, feeling tiredness coming over him.
"It's my life," he stated.
"I'm sorry about your parents and sister," Harry said after a while.
"It's fine. It's been a long, long time ago. My human memories have gone foggy anyway."
"You know what's been a long time too?" Harry asked with a certain cheeky edge, wanting to change the subject to something lighter.
"What?"
"My giving you a blowjob," he whispered in Louis' ear, dimples on full display from his beaming grin. Louis snorted, not having expected that.
"I think you're right," he answered, pulling Harry off of him and placed him gently on the mattress on a spot next to him, pulling the duvet until his chin, "But it has to wait. It's been a stressful days and you need your sleep. You're eyes are falling close anyway."
"Can I give you one as soon as I'm up?" Harry pouted.
"Of course, love," Louis smiled, kissing his cheek sloppily.
"I love you," Harry whispered as his eyes fell close.
"I love you too."
They were both happy like that, lying comfortable together with the knowledge that they could be together for a long, long time. They were safe. Yes, if they wanted they could worry about Niall's change, about what the future would bring, but there would always be struggles in life. Harry and Louis knew that, if they were together, than they could handle everything. It would be okay. After all, they belonged together like Pyramus and Thisbe, like Allie and Noah, like Lancelot and Guinevere, like Tristan and Isolde, or, just like Harry and Louis, because that was already special enough.
