A.N: Finally chapter 9! I had so much school work this week, i'm actually surprised that I'm still alive (but yes I am barely breathing :D) Thank you all for the votes and fans and comments, ... I love you! I feel terrible that I have let you all wait so long, but blame my maths (and Dutch and French and ...)teacher for giving me too much homework. I hope you enjoy the chapter!

Louis POV
Louis eventually jumped up, quickly making his way towards the door. He suddenly wanted to be out of the room badly, in need of some fresh air. The classroom full of Harry, was suffocating him. It had slightly begun to feel like a prison to Louis. While racing through the door, he brushed past the taller lad. Their arms were touching for only a second, but the skin contact augmented his craving for his new roommate even more. Yes, Louis should really leave.
Not caring that he actually had to be heading to his next lesson, he rushed to the left, in the direction of an abandoned hallway. He didn’t look behind him. Louis really wasn’t bothered to care, he just wanted to run away, to leave. He just wanted to be able to breathe properly again without wanting to rip something open or feeling this suffocated. As he wanted something badly, Louis had the habit to focus on his goal and his goal only, blocking everything else out. Therefore he missed the green eyes watching his every move with a confused curiosity.
Louis sprinted even further into the abandoned hallway until he met the end. Crap, this certainly didn’t look like the way outside. The vampire detested the idea to turn back and look for another exit. Why couldn’t this building have a door right here? He looked through the window, the only connection between the dull school building and the world outside and gazed at the little blackbirds flying happily.
Wait! A window?
After throwing a brisk look behind him, checking again if he were still alone, he forced the lock of the window and opened it. The blue eyed lad took a small moment breathing in the healthy air with closed eyes. A small smile was formed on his lips as he calmed down a bit. Although the arrival of fresh air felt wonderful, it was not enough.
Louis grabbed the window cill to lift him up and then he skilfully jumped out. His inhuman state made sure that he lacked any kind of injuries as he finally landed on the balls of his feet. The smile that had lingered on his face now changed in a full beaming grin.

Looking around he saw that he had ended up in front of the woods. No one ever came here as it was almost impossible to come here by foot because of the giant fences blocking the way. Apparently years ago students had used this place to cultivate weed. After they had been caught, the teachers had all decided it was best to ban pupils from this side of the school and therefore had placed the fences.
Content with the feeling that this was his own little place, he started to sprint in the direction of the trees. It felt good being able to run again the way he liked, as quickly as possible with his vampire powers on full modus. With the oak trees soon flashing by and the sound of wild animals hitting his ears, he finally felt a little bit more free.

Harry’s POV
Harry moodily poked with his fork at his tasteless pasta. Zayn was reading a weird comic book –completely shutting out the outer world– and Niall was committed in a an intense discussion with Josh. So the curly haired boy was all by himself in this full packed lunchroom with his thoughts swirling around.
He hadn’t spotted Louis since the latter’s rather dramatic escape out of class that morning. Harry clearly remembers how the shorter boy had brushed past him and left him standing alone in the door frame.
After the bell had rung, Louis hadn’t risen up right away. His bright blue eyes had been staring into nothing, showing that the shorter lad was thinking things through. Harry had made his way towards the door still with his eyes on Louis. For that reason he noticed it instantly when Louis’ eyes suddenly changed from the clear blue to a dark black, making him jump up and rush to the door.
During his hurried departure, Louis hadn’t made eye contact with the curly haired boy once although his arm had touched Harry’s for a moment. His skin had felt cold like dew on the grass on a cold morning, but it had left a trail of flames burning Harry’s own skin afterwards and making him crave for more. However he couldn’t touch him again, because he saw the strange lad hurrying in the direction of an abandoned hallway.
Harry didn’t know what, but something made him follow his roommate into the deserted hall. Several meters behind Louis, the curly haired boy was trying to keep up and watching his every move. He was lucky that the other lad had been too occupied with his own thoughts that he hadn’t heard the subdued footsteps. When Louis had stopped in front of a big window at the end of a hall where Harry had never set foot before, he hid himself behind a corner.

Harry didn’t dare to peek around the corner until a full minute had passed. What he saw then wasn’t as expected. A brisk blast of air made the curtains next to the now open window swirl, but the lad that Harry had expected, was nowhere to be seen. Even as he made his way towards the window and looked down, there was no trace of Louis. It was like he had grown wings and had just flown away.
Harry decided to just give up and headed back to class without the knowledge of where Louis had fled. Trying to distract himself from the mystery that Louis surrounded, he decided to play a little game and started to avoid every white tile. Harry imposed himself the rule that he could only step on the black ones. Halfway to the calculus class, the pattern of tiles changed so it was more difficult to avoid the white tiles. He had just took a small jump over a big tile when he crashed into another figure. His eyes the whole time concentrated on the floor hadn’t warned him on time that he wasn’t the only one in the hall anymore.
‘Oi, twat! Look out!’ The other person groaned loudly.
He had his hands clutched at his stomach, hugging it tightly. His squinted eyes showed that he suffered an awful pain that couldn’t impossible be caused by the recent bump.
‘Zayn? I’m sorry! Shit man? What’s wrong? What the hell have I done?’
As Harry recognized his friend’s “discomfort” he fluttered with his hands in the air and started to curse. The Cheshire native certainly didn’t know how to maintain his calm attitude in crisis situations.
The tanned lad stopped groaning to open one eye.
‘Harry, can you stop screaming like that? You’re attracting the teacher’s attention! You know we actually have to be in class at this moment, no?’
Zayn tried to stand straight again to let Harry know that he was alright. However as his arms rested around his belly to subdue the pain, he didn’t do a very convincing job.
‘I’m fine alright? There’s nothing to worry about.’
‘But I barely touched you and you almost fell to the ground because of the pain! And why aren’t you in class in the first place?’
‘You know I could ask you the same question,’ Zayn smirked.
‘Touché,’ Harry smiled.
He didn’t ask further scared that Zayn wanted to know his own reason too. If he wanted to have his own secrets, it was more than normal that his friend could want the same. However as Zayn let another groan, he couldn’t hide his concern and tried to help him. Harry stretched his arms out to support his friend, but withdrew them immediately when Zayn flinched by the slightest touch.
‘Zayn, really, what the hell happened to you?’
‘It’s not your fault. I –uhm- fell down the stairs a week ago.’
He lifted his shirt to reveal his with band aid covered stomach. On the little bare parts of his skin, Harry could still see the edge of the wound. How was it possible to get injured like this with falling down the stairs? Shouldn’t he have big, purple bruises or even a broken bone instead of these huge cuts? Well, Zayn was still Zayn. As long as Harry had known him, he knew that his best friend was a very honest and sincere lad. He had never caught him lying before and certainly not to his friends. So he probably hadn’t started now, Harry thought.
‘Oi! Where are you going?’
While Harry had been sunken in his thoughts, Zayn had started to walk away again. He turned his head towards harry when he heard him shout.
‘I’m ditching class and I would prefer doing it outside where the chance of getting caught by teachers is considerable lower.’
‘And, ‘ he said smirking at Harry while he brought a lighter out of his pocket, ‘I prefer smoking outside. Are you coming or not?’
‘Sure, hold on!’
The two lads had ditched both third and fourth course lying on the wet grass in the warm autumn sunlight, talking about sweet nothings.
That had been an hour ago as the boys were lunching at the moment. With his fork still poking at his pasta Harry looked around for the umpteenth time only to still lack any sign of Louis.
There was something not quite right about the way he had just disappeared twice already in less than 12 hours. And not only that, also the fact that his eyes had a habit of changing colour and the way his skin had felt when Harry had touched it. His odd mood swings and the way he and Liam had talked about Harry the day before, even though Harry had stood right in front of them. Not to mention their weird conversation this morning that Harry had caught right before waking up but couldn’t figure out what it meant.
There was really something different about the lads and Harry was determined to get to the bottom of it.
A.N: You can guess if you want to what happened to Zayn :)

The General Core {The Sphere}
The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Dungeons, have been exploited too much by the mortals. The group who created the Sphere already tried and failed with several modifications, because the original computer-like dungeon cores are too inflexible to handle changing approaches. So they try another type of solution – taking souls from other worlds to try to find a solution before the Sphere Cycle breaks down completely. The General was one of the best soldiers of his world, rising from the ranks of a private through Officer School to the highest command with honors. But when his world faced a zombie apocalypse, even that was not enough and he had to make the ultimate sacrifice. Now he is asked for a repeat performance of planning and controlling a dungeon and its spawns in a world that he knows nothing about… But what is the Sphere really? What is that [Xenotic conversion] he has to go through to even enter the Sphere? Something is really strange and he will have to find out what is going on to get to his promised rewards – whatever they will be. Being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive. And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author’s hint). This is a dungeon core story - but there are quite a number of things that I will do differently than common to those stories. 1) I will describe the floors when they are explored, NOT when they are build. Yes, that will mean it will take longer to get to those parts - but I think describing floors both when they are build and when they are explored destroys quite a lot of chances for suspense when adventurers enter the dungeon. After all, if you as the reader already know where the traps are, then you can't really be surprised when the surfacers encounter them. 2) How the world works (and how not) is an integral part of the story, so it will be explained I'm a world-builder first and the Sphere is NOT a regular world (as hinted in the synopsis above). Things will work differently than in your 08/15 default dungeon core stories - as the General and Gunny have already learned in the second arc (and more of that is already scheduled for the next weeks (July/Aug 2019) when the Sky Arrows continue to explore and evaluate that strange dungeon) If you don't like these premises, then I'm sure you'll find a lot of other Dungeon Core stories more to your liking. But if you are interested in more than "Dungeon builds another room and corridor in medieval earth" and are not afraid of a longer and slower story, then go on. I have two more stories in the Sphere, although they both have lower priority than this one: Shaleen the Wanderer (Adventurer, NSFW) (currently on hold after some chapters) Info's on the Sphere (System Docu and Short Stories) (irregular updates when needed) Current Status reports have been moved to a new discord server: https://discord.gg/EaHkXCfm9y
