Lester and I talked for a while. He was pretty ok to be around. The truck slowed down as we finished a back road to a road kill pit. Once Lester got the back of tbe truck cleared we started driving again. "I think you'll like Ambrose. It's pretty quiet with most the people bring, well. . ." "Old?" I chime in and Lester nods. "That's the word. Thank you kindly (y/n)." I laugh and sip my drink as we continue. "So hey, when we get there I'm pretty sure everyone in the house is gonna be asleep. So we're gonna have to be real quiet like. You can sleep in the room upstairs next to mine." "Totally, and thanks again Lester. I owe you big time. Hey would you mind if I took off my makeup? How much longer till we get there?" "A little while longer. And sure thing. I want you to feel comfortable as you want." This guy is seriously so sweet. "Thanks man." I grab my makeup whipes and eyelash case out of my purse and pull down the passenger mirror. Pulling my lashes off I blink the tears away with a wince. "Those were fake?!" Lester asks semi freaked out. "Oh these, yeah, hurt like a bitch to take off sometimes though." I reply as I put the lashes in their case then back into my purse. "Then why do you do it?" He asks in a kind voice and I start wiping off my makeup. "Eh, I just like to. It's like art to me." I explain and Lester hums to show he understands. "And the clothes?" He asks. "I believe that whatever you're wearing when you die is what your ghost wears for forever. And I would rather be a really hot ghost." I joke as I continue to wipe off my makeup.

Once all the gunk was off my face I pulled out my small moisturizer from my purse and rub it on my face. "That's much better." I smile. "Love doing the makeup, don't love having it on for long periods of time." I laugh and Lester laughs a little too. We talk for a bit longer before pulling up to a wash out. Stopping the truck Lester hops out. "I just gotta flip my tires into 3rd then we can keep going." "Need any help?" I ask. "I can hold a light." "Thats real kind of you Ms. (Y/n). But I don't want you to mess up that pretty outfit." Lester smiles at me before closing the door. I check my phone and see a single bar. I dial and call my mom. It wrings for a second then she picks up. "Tired of the trip already?" "Mom listen to me ok, service is bad, Jessica and her friends dumped me in the middle of no where. I'm currently in a small town in the middle of no where. I'm gonna stay here for a couple days. I'll keep you updated. I love you." "Wait, what? They just dumped you?! Are you okay?! And what do you mean you're just gonna stay in a town in the middle of nowhere?! Are you safe?!" "Mom calm down, I'm fine. Take a deep breath. Yes they dumped me. But hey you always told me to find the silver lining so I'm gonna use some of my off time and hang around this little town called Ambrose for a day or two until I can get a bus or lift to somewhere else. I'll keep you updated. I'm safe. I love you." Mom calms down a little bit and sighs. "Stay safe. Love you too. And for the love of fuck text me." "Will do Mom. If I can I'll call you tomorrow. See ya later." "See ya." We hang up right before Lester gets back into the truck. "Who was that?" He asks buckling in.

"Mom, just letting her know I'm alive and what happened." I explain and Lester nods. "Good mom, we're almost there by the way." He finishes and I beam I couldn't wait to get some sleep after the day I just had. "Oh I should take off my heels." "Why?" "Well you said I should be quiet so I'm gonna take off my heels to be lighter on my feet. Plus they're kind of killing me if I'm being perfectly honest." I tell Lester as I take the heels off and put them into my shoe bag. Lester drove carefully over the washout and the slowly around the corner. There was a town even smaller than mine. Go figure. We kept driving slowly. It was getting late so It's normal for places like this to be kind of dead. Lester drove us up a road. Hey I saw the sign for that, the um..." I snap my fingers trying to think of the word. "House of wax! Maybe while I'm here I could check it out." I smile and nudge Lester. "Maybe." He sounded nervous but I chocked it up to inviting a complete stranger into his home. We pulled into a driveway. No other cars or trucks yet. "Looks like no ones home yet. Let's get you in and up to bed." Lester let's out a sigh of relief. "Works for me." I say before we both get out of the truck. Lester being a little gentleman holds my rolling suitcase and shoe bag while I carry my food, makeup bag, and purse. Quietly we enter the house and I look around. Dusty. It's like no one cleaned in years. But I'm not here to judge.

Lester leads me up the stairs and shows me a room. It had a queen sized bed and that's all I cared about at the moment. "It's a little dusty, but I hope you can sleep good." He whispers setting my stuff down gently. "I seriously owe you." I kiss his cheek and smile. Lester touches his cheek and turned a bright shade of red. "Night Lester." I say as I dust off the bed. He leaves as I shake out the blankets. No spiders. Nice. It was relatively warm so I undressed, put my ratty nirvana shirt on plus a pair of boxers and got into bed. "Good night (y/n)." I whisper to myself as I place my phone under my pillow. "Sweet dreams."
