《Stranded》pt.1

If anyone ever had a reason to hate their so called "friends" it was me right now. Currently I'm sitting on the side of some road in the middle of butt fuck no where. It's starting to get dark and there's no fucking cars in sight. And no fucking service. Let's go back to where this shit show started, shall we?

~the day before~

"Hey (y/n) you got something in the mail." Mom calls up the stairs. I walk down from the attic that I had turned into my bedroom. Housing is expensive so mom said I could stay with her till I found a place I could afford. She stood at the foot of the stairs with an envelope in her hands. "Here you go." Mom says handing it over. She walks off while I sit on the stairs and look at the envelope. "Hmm." I hum looking at the name. It was from someone I used to be friends with in highschool, Jessica Travis. Who sends letters anymore? More importantly, how did she get my mailing address? Getting up I walk into the living room where mom was sitting. "You give our address to anyone?" "Just open it." She says with a smile. I shrug and do as she says. Inside the envelope was an invitation to Jessica's 21st birthday. "She couldn't have just sent me an email?" "She wanted to make it personal, I already said you'd go." I look from the invitation to my mom. "You don't hang out with people enough, and maybe a trip is what you need." Trip? Looking back at the paper in my hand I sigh. It was going to be a fucking trip states away. "Why'd you say I'd go?" I question and mom drinks her coffee. "Because she called me and wanted it to be a surprise for you. She said that she did the same for the other people she invited." "I hate you." "Love you too."

I roll my eyes and look for the date. "Fucking tomorrow?!" "Hmm, well you better go get her a present." "Mom, I love you, but I haven't talked to Jessica since I graduated. She spread that roomer about me hooking up with the wrestling team, remember?" "No shit? That was Jessica?" Mom asks. "Yeah." "Well, it was a few years ago. Plus she's really wanting you there. Can you do it for me? Please?" With a sigh I walk upstairs and to the attic.

I put on my white heeled boots and fluffy coat to go with my outfit.

(The outfit)

Grabbing my purse I walk back down stairs. "I'm going to the store. I'll be back in a bit. When I get back I'm going to pack and take a nap." Mom waves at me from the couch and I start walking out. "My day off and I have to deal with this shit." I mumble grabbing my keys off the hallway table. But hey maybe this could be ok. I needed some off time anyway, plus my boss owes me a favor. Perks of living in a small town, being cousins with your boss. Down side is how many people you're related to through either blood or marriage.

I get into my car and head into town listening to music. This won't be too bad. I can make the best of it. Still don't like her but I'll use the situation to get some travel done.

After getting Jessica a birthday present, a thrifted necklace, I sat in my room with the window open smoking. I thought it'd be better to thrift something for Jessica. I never really liked buying expensive jewelery, unless it was for someone I really liked. Blowing another puff of smoke out the window I stub out the cigarette in my ashtray and go pack. The invitation said that it would be a surprise destination so I just packed comfy clothes, shoes, makeup, ya know the essentials. I makesure to double check that I had the shampoo and conditioner I liked and my other hair care products. The invitation also said that we'd be gone for a couple weeks so I just wanted to have everything I needed.

I pulled out my phone and dial Jessica's number from the invitation. Jessica picked up after about 10 seconds of ringing. "Hey this Jessica? It's (y/n)." I wanted to ask where I should be meeting her but I didn't want to straight out ask that as a first thing. "Yeah! Hey (y/n) I super excited you're coming!" Jessica replies. "Yeah me tooHey quick question, where are we meeting up tomorrow?" I ask feeling semi nauseous. "Oh yeah no prob. The gas station we used to hang out at as kids. I'll be picking you up around 8:30 in the morning. Sounds good?" I wanted to slam my head against a wall. "Yeah sounds totally good to me. See ya then, happy birthday." With that I hung up and stared at the ceiling

"FUCKING 8:30?!" I hate waking up early! It's bullshit! I'm happy I'm done packing but come on! I'm gonna have to wakeup even earlier to do my makeup and pick my outfit! Fuck!! Laying down on the bed I look up at the ceiling. I really don't want to do this. Someone knocks on the door to my attic room and I get up. "Hey since you're going tomorrow let's hang out ok. I ordered us dinner." Mom says and I sigh with a soft smile. "What did you get?" "Dairy Queen." "Did you get me a milkshake?" "Yup (favorite flavor)." I open the door and look at my mom. "You are forgiven for signing me up for a trip with a bunch of strangers." I smile. "Come on they're not strangers, you went to school with them. And you guys used to be really good friends as kids." Mom says. "Jessica is really wanting to makeup for stuff." She finishes and I nod. "Yeah, maybe it'll be fun. Now come on, I'm hungry." I smile.
