《Hiding from my Mate (COMPLETED)》Chapter 3

"I can smell her. I wanna know who my mate is." He whined drunkenly.

"Well, I can't help you with that." I responded, panicked that he could smell me.

I looked at my hand and groaned as I realised that the ring the witch had given me was gone. That ring stops my mate from recognising my scent. So much for disguises.

Seth sniffed the air again and moved closer towards me saying, "You smell reeaallly nice. Like vanilla and cinnamon and strawberries."

I back away and laugh nervously, "Well. I guess it's my shampoo. Anyways I'm gonna go now, to see the birthday boy."

"Wait! You smell like my mate. So you are my mate?" He asked, confused.

I was soo glad that he was drunk. If he wasn't, then I would be kinda dead right now. As in, I'm-my-mate's-enemy-dead.

"Yeah, we're gonna have to take a rain check with that. So, bye!" I pushed past him and he stumbled and fell into a table, making everyone turn to look at him.

"I HAVE FOUND MY MATE! SHE'S OVER THE-WAIT. WHERE IS SHE?" He exclaimed, drunkenly pushing past people to go who knows where. Ah shit. Let's just hope no one remembers this.

An hour previously..

"Hey chica! You're looking damn fine!" I grinned as my best friend came bounding up to me, giving me compliments here and there.

"Shuddup. You look great yourself." She smiled in thanks and dragged me inside the pack house.

"So where's loverboy?" I asked her, referring to jack. Her face turned beer root red and she whispered naughtily, "He's recovering from the birthday gift that I have him." I raised my eyebrows. I knew that Ari wasn't a virgin (her first was, of course, her mate) but really, before a party? I shook my head, choosing not to comment on what she'd just told me.

"Sooo, let's dance!" I grabbed her hand excitedly and moved to the beat. Dancing was my forte. I absolutely loved music and my mum taught me how to dance. I drowned out those sad memories with the music. Now was not the time. This was a party.

"You wanna drink?" Ari yelled in my ear. I winced. Werewolf hearing was quite sensitive.

"Uh, no thanks. Maybe some water?"

She nodded and went to get them. Contrary to what people think, I don't actually like to drink and I avoid doing so as much as possible. Nobody knew why but it's how my parents died. A drunk driver crashed into their car when they were coming back from a business trip so yeah. I don't wanna e responsible for someone's death. Also, I'm usually the designated driver for Ari and Jack when they need a ride to their home (they were mated so they like to have their privacy, hence the living on their own).

When Ari didn't return after 15 minutes, I assumed that she had found Jack. Trying not to think of what they'd probably be doing, I walked towards the kitchen, squeezing past dancing bodies and averting my poor eyes from the couples showing enthusiasm in PDA. Urgh. My poor virgin eyes.

Getting a bottle of water out of the fridge, I turn around, startled to see a very drunk alpha.

"Uh, Seth? What are you doing?" He was sniffing the air, looking around wildly. Weirdo. I always knew that something was wrong with this guy.

"Are you alright?"

I must have lost it when I was dancing. Great. Absolutely brilliant.
